[00:01:00] All right, Whiskey Riff Raff it's been a minute. We got red clay strazed so brought to you by Laura Poe music festival
[00:01:22] So you guys are actually headlining that festival
[00:01:26] You guys are obviously blown up
[00:01:28] Have you ever been there experienced it because they actually had a funny question me as a fan question
[00:01:33] They at least sounds like you guys gonna have a rough time with your bus driver parking there potentially
[00:01:39] It's a little bit of a unique situation over there, but they were laughing about that. You guys excited about that festival
[00:01:46] Yeah, yeah, we played there last year and it was
[00:01:50] We ran our bus our smaller bus at the time we ran it hot going up the mountain trying to get to it
[00:01:56] We got out in pop of hood and the antifreeze was boiling. It was a it was having a hard time getting up there
[00:02:03] Yeah, we played it last year was a lot of fun. Can't wait to be back really excited about it
[00:02:09] What about the festival circuit is different from kind of just running your regular, you know tour tour schedule
[00:02:16] How does that kind of what do you like about it? What do you not like about it?
[00:02:20] I like the built originally. I like the built-in crowds with the festivals provided
[00:02:27] Especially before wondered why I took off like it did
[00:02:31] It was hit or miss with our show some someone would be packed and someone would be empty and so
[00:02:37] displaying festivals had that guarantee
[00:02:39] Of a big crowd
[00:02:42] But also just I really enjoy the environment
[00:02:46] Brandon was saying about biggest disaster
[00:02:49] Answer situation was in the sound guy quit like in real time at CMA fest last year you said
[00:02:57] Mm-hmm. So just kind of like walked off like fuck this thing
[00:03:02] Actually, I feel like a lot of fans probably don't
[00:03:06] Because I kind of don't even know how important is that actual role in real time
[00:03:10] Like are they adjusting stuff on the fly is it what's what's kind of the process because if your sounds all fucked up
[00:03:16] Or is it like just sit back in case like should start going wrong?
[00:03:21] I
[00:03:22] Think it depends on the show or on the venue
[00:03:24] but I would just hired our first
[00:03:28] front-of-house like official front-of-house guy and
[00:03:33] That's something I can't say is like
[00:03:35] Saint good sound is is gonna make or break the show, you know if you can play music
[00:03:41] As well as you can but if it doesn't sound good to the crowd and they're not gonna you know, they're not gonna enjoy it
[00:03:47] so yeah, you know
[00:03:50] I think for the most part they just pretty much get everything set with soundcheck and then
[00:03:55] Just kind of sit back and make sure nothing goes wrong, but they could be you know, it's just seem throughout the show
[00:04:00] I'm not really sure what they do
[00:04:02] I think it just depends on various from sound man to sound man
[00:04:06] Makes sense for us and we first see and they we didn't even get a sound set
[00:04:10] It was like everything was screaming at us from the get-go just like
[00:04:15] feedback and just
[00:04:18] Just I don't know, man like these people are especially professionals and we won't I don't even know who the company was but it just it just felt very
[00:04:27] half-hearted
[00:04:30] It's just such a you know
[00:04:32] Plus they're fucked to see a Mayfa. I mean the last time we won five years ago was I don't even know but
[00:04:38] It was like 102 degrees 100% humidity like you're just you're drinking your walking
[00:04:44] You're like dying of heat and you're just
[00:04:47] Music everywhere like commercial pop-up tents everywhere. You're just like man
[00:04:51] This is it's great for like fans that are like, you know
[00:04:55] Like we're seasoned vets now. It's like man. That's rough to like to experience that over the course of a few days, but
[00:05:03] Are you guys doing it again?
[00:05:04] Are you serious here or no? Are you guys going bad?
[00:05:07] No, that's um
[00:05:08] We were playing the Dr Pepper stage when we when we did that uh
[00:05:13] But yeah, it's
[00:05:14] We had
[00:05:16] There's been a dream of ours the work would take up for uh, you know pretty much the whole time
[00:05:21] We've been doing this and so you know having to leave the studio was already a bummer
[00:05:26] And we left the studio and then drove all night to get the Nashville and time just to to deal with all of that
[00:05:32] It was just uh
[00:05:33] We weren't we weren't happy to say the least it was up
[00:05:36] You felt like it was a huge voice of our time and um
[00:05:40] Just have no plans of doing it again and less maybe on a bigger stage with better production
[00:05:45] I guess I love that that's a perfect little prop up to Laurel Cove here
[00:05:49] That's the festival that people should be wanting to go to but uh, yeah
[00:05:53] What you uh, for sure um
[00:05:58] What's your that tic-tac um machine right with the
[00:06:02] Yeah, I feel like you guys really exploded this year with the viral success of
[00:06:07] Wondering why how did that kind of all come about and kind of what was your guys' reaction to seeing that song really explode for you
[00:06:15] Uh, I'll take it
[00:06:17] At first up off we did the live AF session with uh, what's an AF
[00:06:23] And uh those videos started getting some traction
[00:06:26] Uh
[00:06:27] As well as we had hired my brother
[00:06:31] Uh last May to start being our full-time videographer
[00:06:35] and so
[00:06:37] He started taking over our socials and posting consistently and posting content and
[00:06:42] It's like once the live AF videos took off a little bit of
[00:06:46] people like
[00:06:48] Started to notice us a little bit and then they started diving into our socials and seeing everything that Matthew was posting
[00:06:53] And uh
[00:06:55] It just took off I guess I mean people just really liked it
[00:06:59] I think the first one to pop off was actually a snippet of a song called devil in my ear
[00:07:04] I'll take it and then after
[00:07:07] You know devil in my ear, uh, wondering why I followed shortly after that
[00:07:11] Well tic-tac may get banned on rius so that news
[00:07:16] Yeah, dude
[00:07:17] So you guys got in at the right time as far as it popping off
[00:07:21] Yeah
[00:07:23] Yeah, this is a random one. I was gonna say do you have any opinion on some of these like
[00:07:28] tic-tac country music stars who like
[00:07:31] Really blow up? I mean obviously it's helped you guys kind of put your name out there
[00:07:35] But at the same time, I think your music and your live show kind of carries its own weight
[00:07:40] But it seems like there's a plot plenty of artists who
[00:07:43] Don't necessarily carry their own weight and they use the tic-tac to kind of
[00:07:47] Give them a little more fame than maybe their music would kind of allow for never played a live show never been in a studio
[00:07:53] But have you know tons of fans and you know as soon as I put out a single it's gonna top
[00:07:57] Top charts like if you guys paid attention to any of that kind of controversy or what does tic-tac kind of?
[00:08:04] What is your opinion of that as far as how musicians create music and disseminate it to the masses
[00:08:11] Well
[00:08:13] Creating music is one thing and there's not really a right way to do any of it. I mean everybody has their own path
[00:08:21] Whether it's tic-tac or the voice or or whatever, but I will say
[00:08:27] It's it's always very wise to have a reputation on the road before
[00:08:35] You know you blow up like that. You need to have some type of a foundation and
[00:08:41] That's where we were kind of blessed in our area is you know, we blew up pretty well this year
[00:08:49] And last year but
[00:08:51] You know we've been doing this for seven years seven or eight years now
[00:08:54] So it was like when people did finally start noticing us they have
[00:08:57] seven plus years of
[00:08:59] You know social media and content and music to go look back on and
[00:09:05] And we already had a fan base built from you know from touring so much. So it's like
[00:09:10] Uh
[00:09:11] We're road-worn, I guess you know, we know how to
[00:09:15] To work a crowd and to put on a good show and I think
[00:09:19] That's all just as essential of
[00:09:21] As you know blowing up on tic-tac because once you blow up and become viral people
[00:09:25] What are people going to want to do? They're gonna want to listen to your music and then they're gonna want to come to you
[00:09:29] You know play live someday and
[00:09:32] You want to be able to
[00:09:34] To hold up every end of the of all of that you know not just
[00:09:38] Going viral I guess
[00:09:40] Was speaking of you know building it the right way like you guys have and
[00:09:45] Kind of a funny fan question here. Um, I don't know if you guys know them or not
[00:09:49] But at least somewhere you guys came came from as far as uh
[00:09:53] Started and Alabama. You guys know the musk and I'm bloodline boys or or no
[00:09:59] Yeah, oh, yeah, oh really. Yeah, that was a fan question. We love those guys. We met him years ago and um
[00:10:06] Yeah, good dudes. So you guys go back or you guys just kind of met recently
[00:10:14] Um
[00:10:16] You know
[00:10:17] Charlie and Gary met us a long time ago when we were
[00:10:22] Kind of a band looking for an identity
[00:10:25] And before the band before we are now um and uh
[00:10:32] I don't know you know
[00:10:35] We didn't really
[00:10:37] Get to know them until recently because uh, you know they've been really busy for dogging it and
[00:10:42] Doing their time up in Nashville. So like you know we uh
[00:10:47] It's not that we um
[00:10:50] They had just spent their time on the road this you know
[00:10:54] I don't know how to answer this question. We just met them recently
[00:10:56] I guess
[00:10:58] I love him to death too man. They're they're both genuine and like they're so nice
[00:11:03] Reddable songwriters and like they make some really really good music together
[00:11:06] We've and uh, yeah, we super helpful like for advice and stuff like that over the years
[00:11:11] Like I'd reach out on Instagram and uh, they'd be quick to get back and be helpful. So
[00:11:17] We've met uh
[00:11:19] Do I miss for nine years or how long it's then we met quite a few folks west of myself and
[00:11:25] They're they're easily one of the at the top of the list for like nicest most
[00:11:30] normal
[00:11:31] Like not fake little shitter like
[00:11:34] Lunch will type there's why they're obviously not from Nashville, but um
[00:11:38] Yeah, great dudes uh Brandon another little funny uh question here. Do you get it an Elvis
[00:11:45] Parison somebody some fans seems to think you got a little bit of an Elvis vibe at times
[00:11:49] You're up there and the in the voice and the look you ever get that
[00:11:53] Oh man never oh really
[00:11:56] No, yeah
[00:11:59] It's like
[00:12:00] It's almost as if like they thought they they'd figured it all out. They're like man
[00:12:05] I couldn't put my finger on until right now
[00:12:08] It's like Johnny Cash and Elvis had a baby and it's like every single person thinks that there is
[00:12:14] I mean
[00:12:15] today, I mean
[00:12:17] I don't know you guys probably didn't
[00:12:19] Yes, you didn't listen to it
[00:12:20] I haven't either but people aren't so happy with Sam hunt today uh
[00:12:25] You're not even made music, but he kind of reenacted being Johnny Cash and that at the prison
[00:12:31] The prison concert that is not going over well on the
[00:12:41] When I first saw it like I was scrolling through Twitter. I was like
[00:12:45] Maybe it's like an actual like part of court country song
[00:12:48] But it's like not at all or a nod to cash in some way, but yeah, it sounds like a
[00:12:54] Tyrese or an usher song straight up arm
[00:12:57] Trade race pull that from I mean that's
[00:13:03] Oh, I'll have to check that out. I don't
[00:13:06] I haven't heard about that
[00:13:08] Yeah, but yeah, let's make comparisons all the time
[00:13:12] Would you ever would you ever act in a role? Who's that guy that just did it and he like couldn't get out of the care
[00:13:17] Right, and he like can't get out of the character and it's super awkward now
[00:13:20] You just talks like that have you seen that like yeah
[00:13:24] So he uh, he's
[00:13:26] I'm sorry go ahead. No, no, no, I just like when he except that worries like why is he still
[00:13:30] What's going on here?
[00:13:33] Yeah, he said he had the higher a voice coach to get rid of the voice
[00:13:37] Holy crap. I see no
[00:13:43] Is doing too good. I like the first one
[00:13:45] Yeah, doing to do is incredible. I want to go see it again
[00:13:48] Well, he's also in a great uh, blanking on the name now. It's like uh
[00:13:52] He's a fighter pilot in like World War II. I think that's a great show
[00:13:56] Yeah, yeah, I think I'm the name
[00:13:58] Yeah, the masters of air I think
[00:14:00] Yeah, I think so. Yeah
[00:14:03] Which you know, yeah, I wouldn't do a role though um
[00:14:08] I just
[00:14:10] For one
[00:14:12] I don't think I'm much of a much of an actor but for two now I just
[00:14:17] Already get enough love but yeah, Elvis comparisons those ideas. That's the last thing I need to do is go
[00:14:22] active
[00:14:24] And also, I don't think I would do a good job. I don't really think
[00:14:28] I mean, I got the same here cut as Elvis
[00:14:30] But I don't really think I look look like I'm that much so
[00:14:34] You know, I'm six foot six
[00:14:37] Whoa, this is like five eleven or something. I don't know
[00:14:40] Did you play sports? You're on up
[00:14:43] No, Drew played the sport. I played football in middle school and that's about as much sports as I've had Drew
[00:14:49] Drew's the football guy here. He he he he he's solid football
[00:14:53] Oh nice. Where'd you play Drew
[00:14:56] Uh, Mississippi college it's in uh Clinton, Mississippi. It's like a day was the division three school at the time
[00:15:04] defensive manner or what were we looking at back then?
[00:15:06] I
[00:15:08] Was a linebacker. I played nice. I played a linebacker when I got there ended up outside linebacker
[00:15:14] Or we had a three four defense so I was playing like
[00:15:17] Will those kind of an inside and outside the linebacker at the same time
[00:15:23] We're pretty nerdy about sports and
[00:15:26] So you have to then I just West is a bear fan of Vikings fan all the we got another
[00:15:32] Vikings fan here at the company and
[00:15:35] Bangles fan
[00:15:38] You're not a panthers fan
[00:15:40] So we do a lot of nothing wrong with any of those like the Vikings. I feel like they're on the camera this year
[00:15:46] They they're making some good moves
[00:15:48] Yeah, they saw they like
[00:15:50] 17 free agent moves already
[00:15:52] Like yeah, they're sending themselves up for I think next year especially with a rookie quarterback hopefully but
[00:15:57] Yeah, it's it's fine like that's kind of what we do here though
[00:16:00] It's like when you guys are talking about labeling yourself like
[00:16:03] Not country or country or rock or whatever people label you as
[00:16:07] Here two. I was like
[00:16:09] Yeah, we like country music we're in a post about it
[00:16:11] But there's like that inner twining of a lot of country fans or sports fans or they're fans of the outdoors and that's kind of what we've always done here
[00:16:20] It's perfectly because you're going on oh camping right now, right? You said
[00:16:24] If there you go. Yeah, but this is like my first legit camp at trip like we're going or
[00:16:31] It's not gonna be any kind of like like in a tent or you liking a nice is it glamping?
[00:16:36] He's gonna know it's it's kids. We're gonna be out on
[00:16:40] Yeah, cook your food
[00:16:43] Yeah, yeah, we're gonna be cooking food. We're gonna be fishing stuff like that
[00:16:46] That'll be a nice little reset after having to
[00:16:50] You know
[00:16:51] Be around people all the time everywhere for sure
[00:16:55] We uh
[00:16:58] Uh my buddy Tony is dad and another friend
[00:17:03] We actually got a fan question about how do you guys kind of reset after you know road dog and it's so hard over the last year
[00:17:10] So like kind of what are some of those things you do to
[00:17:13] Kind of de-stress kind of escape kind of reset
[00:17:20] Seems like camping isn't one except other than right now
[00:17:23] I
[00:17:26] Kind of just
[00:17:28] Lay around not do I don't really feel like doing anything after coming home from the road for at least two or three days and
[00:17:36] Then after that, I just honestly just start
[00:17:39] finding uh
[00:17:41] Housework to do or things that I need to catch up on because I've been going for so long you know
[00:17:46] I'm a newly
[00:17:47] I'm a newly wet. We got married uh
[00:17:50] coming up on a year ago and
[00:17:53] Have it hardly I've been going more than I've been home, so it's like when I get home now
[00:17:57] I need to uh
[00:17:59] You know, I want to work on my home life a little bit
[00:18:01] You guys are still living Alabama already guys live in different spots
[00:18:05] Yeah, we also live in Alabama. Whoa
[00:18:08] stuff before we like you guys far as the spring and summer coming up in the rest of the year
[00:18:14] You mentioned working as a music essentially with
[00:18:18] We've cop there anything any updates for the fans because they're they're hungry for the the music the new music element
[00:18:28] Yeah, yeah, we've already recorded the album with
[00:18:31] On we're just uh working on everything else that's involved with releasing an album but um
[00:18:38] It's it's
[00:18:39] definitely
[00:18:41] Almost ready. I don't I don't even have a we don't have a date yet, but
[00:18:45] We have a title
[00:18:48] Do we have a title drew
[00:18:50] Break some news boys come on we do we do but I don't know if we're allowed to say it or not
[00:18:56] You're allowed to do what you want to do Drew
[00:18:59] Yeah, if anybody I want you guys to know first but
[00:19:03] It's a matter of
[00:19:05] A lot of things going on right now. We just can't really can't
[00:19:11] I mean
[00:19:15] The title track is not what you think it would be
[00:19:19] I don't know if that does anything
[00:19:23] Send us the send us the updates as you get them. Yeah, sure
[00:19:29] Yeah, man, I'm so excited with the record dude. It's gonna be great
[00:19:36] I'm excited to see what people think about it because we've worked I mean we've worked really hard on it
[00:19:40] so
[00:19:42] And Dave's the genius
[00:19:45] Yeah, like David sells that letting artists be themselves
[00:19:49] Let's kind of know what he does best and
[00:19:52] Yeah, I don't I don't like any project. He's a I don't dislike any project. He's ever worked
[00:19:59] Yeah, yeah, I know he's killer
[00:20:02] Um, drive safe Drew have a good
[00:20:05] Stay there in the camping trip Brandon thanks for your time
[00:20:10] Uh, once again, moral code. Thanks for kind of setness help helping set this up and you guys are gonna be one of the headliners there
[00:20:16] So everybody get your tickets and
[00:20:19] What do a really cool
[00:20:21] Festival it's not like your typical festival at all. It's
[00:20:25] Pretty damn awesome. So thanks boys really appreciate it
[00:20:28] Come see the site for use at the festival too if you're in a punk rock or whatever
[00:20:33] Is uh nice next shot out there all the I mean it's me John
[00:20:38] Uh
[00:20:39] And Andy backing up this guy named a partridge. He was a phenomenal
[00:20:44] Folks singer, but he is and then he's the psychopath of a punk rock singer nice
[00:20:50] Well, you got a punk rock phase right back on the news man
[00:20:55] He was not a phase dad
[00:20:57] I said West had a little bit of a punk rock phase growing up
[00:21:00] No, I like I still listen to a little punk rock here and there when I want to
[00:21:04] 13 again
[00:21:06] Yeah
[00:21:08] So all right guys really appreciate your time. Yes, thanks fellas. Yeah man. Thank you guys. Cheers guys
