[00:01:35] to listen to the Reel Nerds Podcast. What you are doing right now, every week on Reel Nerds

[00:01:40] Podcast we see a new movie and we podcast our experience to the world except every once

[00:01:47] in a while we do a thing I like to call film explosion. I think you came up with the name

[00:01:53] Brad but I'm going to take credit for it. I did and you can have it. Yes! Film explosion

[00:01:58] is mine. Mine! Let's go to center stage and introduce yourself. I'm Zach. And stage left?

[00:02:06] Brad. Nice. We've been doing this for 13 years. Oh God, what is it end? Never. When is the

[00:02:14] curse lifted? In fact we've been doing it so long this is the last year that we're

[00:02:18] going to have retro film explosions. Oh sad. Because we're actually coming up on the

[00:02:23] 10th year anniversary of us doing 1985. Wow! Right? Who is the good thing that I started

[00:02:31] Glee of 33? Who knew back then that we'd still be doing every four decades in a year?

[00:02:41] A lot of movies. A lot of movies. But what I really like is because I've said this before

[00:02:47] if this is your first time listening to film explosion first thank you. Second we take

[00:02:51] our 10 favorite films throughout 1984 and we reveal them to each other and Brad has prepared

[00:02:59] a blu-ray for us with the trailers. That's the saddest part of the episode as people at home

[00:03:05] don't watch all the work I put into. I mean you can make a YouTube version of this and

[00:03:09] put the trailers with it. I can't because I'm copyrighted. Oh right yeah. Copyright. You get

[00:03:13] flagged right away. These promotional things that they put out for free to people we can't

[00:03:18] use them. Weird. But anyways how this works is we have our 10 favorite films of the year.

[00:03:26] Again I always stress this. Some might be critical darlings for the most part. I always

[00:03:32] base mine on how much I watch them and how much I enjoy them because I think that's

[00:03:39] the best barometer for how good a film is. I'm not a film critic. I'm a film lover. So me being

[00:03:46] critical on film happens every once in a while have you seen Mean Girls 2024? But for the most

[00:03:53] part I try to enjoy all film and my tastes are really weird. But I really liked 1984 because there

[00:04:00] was a lot of movies that I really liked. My top five are pretty much set in stone but below that

[00:04:09] I could have made another 10 films. Yeah it was kind of very easily. Yeah the top five are similar

[00:04:14] to mine like I knew what I wanted. Bottom five I'm like well depending on the day. Yeah in fact one

[00:04:21] of my favorite franchises is in this list and it's really low on my list and that's because there's

[00:04:26] so many films I really like in this year. In fact one of my films I think I like a lot more than other

[00:04:32] people just because other people don't know what they're talking about but so we'll play the trailer

[00:04:41] if the film is introduced. If someone else has you know it later on their list we will not play

[00:04:46] the trailer again. But the other person will get to beat that of the person with a microphone

[00:04:50] for sweeping out. Very hard. Yeah you were your pads today right? Yes always. So yeah that's what we do

[00:04:57] that's how we do films blozians and Brad has optimized the order randomly for this list.

[00:05:05] Get us through as fast as possible. Surprisingly Brad's first huh huh.

[00:05:12] So Brad why don't you kick off 1984 for me? Yeah we're gonna do all 10 of mine first

[00:05:17] and then I knew it. Yeah no yeah 1984 deep bench of films for this year much like 82, 83 sucked.

[00:05:32] So Hollywood took a break and then released all these bangers the next year so yeah.

[00:05:38] Yeah you know you find out when you do these that theatrically they don't release very many movies

[00:05:44] in the 80s. No because now it's all about your first weekend how much money can you make initially?

[00:05:52] Back then it's how much money can we make by showing the same film over and over and over again

[00:05:57] and let it grow organically. Yeah it used to be that like you know something like Rubble Cop would

[00:06:03] be in the theatres for like six months straight. Yeah you mean it shouldn't be about quick winnings

[00:06:06] and it should be about sustainability. Yeah oh you're a monster you're again everything

[00:06:11] makes you a miracle wonderful in capitalism. That's how I roll yeah. Now actually well we've

[00:06:17] actually gotten to see other films get legs over the last four years which is interesting like some films

[00:06:21] do carry that car being an oppinimer like those played so long that when they came up for a

[00:06:27] war season like it they never left the theatre they just like we're still in there. Yeah yeah

[00:06:33] Yeah good. Yeah good year and I forgot to shout out that 84 is also the year the Ninja Turtles

[00:06:42] came into existence. That's right so this is also the 40th anniversary of you know the best comic

[00:06:47] book franchise of all time. You take it back you son of a bitch creative by my real father.

[00:06:51] I was thinking about you because that second and third print of Ninja Turtles 1 is exploding in

[00:06:58] value like big time. I have multiple copies of the second and third printing. Nice so yeah

[00:07:09] I think this is a boys I'm financing the podcast myself. I don't sell those. No I can't do that.

[00:07:14] Yeah although I would not let you sell them. I am trying to go through and do like a second run

[00:07:20] like I've got all the issues. Yeah I'm trying to do a backup run of them all so

[00:07:25] before they get too out of price. Yeah so I speak to superheroes. My number 10 is a early early superhero movie.

[00:07:38] Meet Little Melvin. He's a 90 pound weekly. Everyone hated Melvin. I'm gonna take this mop

[00:07:45] and shove it down your throat. They teased him. I want to do it with you okay. They tormented him.

[00:07:50] They tormented him until he had a horrifying accident and fell into a bat of nuclear waste.

[00:07:58] Transforming Little Melvin into a hideously deformed creature of superhuman

[00:08:04] size and strength. Newden became the toxic Avenger.

[00:08:13] The first superhero born out of nuclear waste. Holy shit!

[00:08:18] I don't know what it was but could save my life.

[00:08:24] All right everybody drop your tacos or a blow your brains out.

[00:08:29] The vandals and the perverts had their way with the little people of Tronabilly

[00:08:33] until the toxic Avenger ripped them apart.

[00:08:39] The toxic Avenger. His face is so terrifying.

[00:08:43] We can't show it to you now. You'll have to see the movie for yourself.

[00:08:50] The toxic Avenger can bend steel with his bare hands.

[00:08:54] Oh, we're all again.

[00:08:57] Get it?

[00:08:58] Leap small cars in a single bound.

[00:09:02] He crushes drug pushers.

[00:09:04] Smashers hit and run drivers.

[00:09:12] For incredible explosive action you must see the toxic Avenger.

[00:09:18] He's a different kind of hero.

[00:09:22] The toxic Avenger is coming to your town.

[00:09:25] Look out.

[00:09:28] So yeah my number 10 is the toxic Avenger. New Jersey's greatest superhero.

[00:09:33] I actually grew up with the toxic crusaders because of like tangentially

[00:09:39] nigerials. I always thought it was a cool character.

[00:09:41] I had the figure a couple of them and but I never watched the film until I met my friends at

[00:09:48] Biz Jack Flumpco who were making very trauma style movies and then I finally watched this and yeah

[00:09:54] it's a ton of fun. You know, a shlocky low budget.

[00:09:57] It's low budget but like if there's a ton of effects and they even blow up a car which is pretty

[00:10:05] impressive for a show that stunt of him hanging on top of the car too.

[00:10:08] Yeah, I think that's a dummy in that shot but yeah he's on the car for some times and

[00:10:14] yeah they rolled that one into explodes and yeah it's like a lot of power of techniques

[00:10:18] and things in a lot of Gore effects and props for you know.

[00:10:22] Basically nothing.

[00:10:24] Almost nothing, yeah.

[00:10:26] Yeah it's a fun good time and it's endured so long there's actually a remake coming out this year.

[00:10:34] Yeah that's been that trailer's been for a while where is it?

[00:10:37] Yeah so yeah I just had to see how they remake it and yeah it's cool and like it's

[00:10:43] you know a great example of do-it-yourself filmmaking that people should embrace more.

[00:10:52] So yeah I relatively new relatively new entry to my 1984 list at number 10 here.

[00:11:00] Thanks.

[00:11:03] My number 10 is a story about two women who have to face danger.

[00:11:23] Samantha?

[00:11:25] What?

[00:11:27] God will you try to do it?

[00:11:28] Give me a heart attack.

[00:11:31] What's happening?

[00:11:33] Well yeah I guess you are a little confused.

[00:11:35] I'll go to Pepsquad practice and split after.

[00:11:37] It's a part of the Pepsquad practice is on or not.

[00:11:40] Can't get anybody on the floor.

[00:11:42] There's nobody!

[00:11:43] I mean there's nobody!

[00:11:46] All right nobody.

[00:11:47] Look look at this.

[00:11:52] Here's Doris.

[00:11:53] This is all that's left of our disinduced.

[00:11:58] It's Saturday morning where the goddamn kids!

[00:12:06] Give your up.

[00:12:07] Give your master card on you.

[00:12:09] No good because you don't need it.

[00:12:13] The stars are up in!

[00:12:22] Okay girls, order right there.

[00:12:24] You the blog.

[00:12:26] Get into the light.

[00:12:28] You know a lot of dates this one?

[00:12:32] How did you get this at times?

[00:12:36] I'll be taking my question while you teenage comment zombies.

[00:12:38] I might be all right for date night in the barrio but if you're going to take any more of those guys outside.

[00:12:42] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:12:44] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:12:46] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:12:48] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:12:50] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:12:52] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:12:54] I'm not going to be able to do that.

[00:13:08] She's really glad to see it.

[00:13:10] I'm not going to be able to see it.

[00:13:18] You dirty rats.

[00:13:20] All right.

[00:13:22] Let's do it.

[00:13:26] Night of the comet.

[00:13:34] Number 10 for me is Night of the Comments.

[00:13:36] I was introduced to this film.

[00:13:38] It's one of the very first screen factory putouts.

[00:13:42] I want to say it came out on screen factory in 2014 maybe earlier.

[00:13:54] It's about these two valley girls that happen to miss this comet weird that tomorrow there's an eclipse.

[00:14:00] This comet passes by and turns everybody to dust or to zombies.

[00:14:04] And then they're just left with their own devices and they go shopping in a mall.

[00:14:08] And then there's this big conspiracy behind the government and stuff.

[00:14:12] It's really silly.

[00:14:14] It's really funny.

[00:14:16] Definitely a product of its time.

[00:14:18] There's harsh lighting in it.

[00:14:20] Not in a bad way.

[00:14:22] They use like reds and blues that are really striking in the film.

[00:14:26] Very stylized as well.

[00:14:28] It's just a fun movie.

[00:14:30] Yeah, it's like valley girls versus zombies is the best way I can describe it.

[00:14:38] Yep.

[00:14:40] I did not enjoy it.

[00:14:42] It's been a while since I've seen it but I found out about it because of the spot cast.

[00:14:48] And I would actually like to watch it again with the screen factory because I don't know how long.

[00:14:54] It's a fun movie.

[00:14:56] Yeah, it's really fun.

[00:15:00] Alright, mine.

[00:15:02] Alright, my number 10 is the most pretentious film on the list.

[00:15:06] It's the fun-fueled family story about a man in an opium den having a four hour nightmare.

[00:15:14] And here it is.

[00:15:16] Once upon a time in the soul of a boy.

[00:15:26] Once upon a time in the life of a man.

[00:15:34] Once upon a time in the history of a nation.

[00:15:42] Once upon a time in America.

[00:16:12] Once upon a time in America.

[00:16:22] Once upon a time in America.

[00:16:32] My number 10 is once upon a time in America.

[00:16:42] Sergio Leone's last film.

[00:16:46] Never say never.

[00:16:50] Wait, do you guys have a plan to bring him back from the dead?

[00:16:54] He's dead.

[00:16:56] He's fucking dead.

[00:16:58] His endel is a pup in his brain and he fell on the pool.

[00:17:04] Yeah, no.

[00:17:06] The reason it's so low for me, I do think it is a masterful achievement from Leone but this is the difference between a film like this and a film like the Irishman which I really enjoy.

[00:17:20] The Irishman keeps me very much accelerated with its pace and allows itself to breathe.

[00:17:26] This movie has nothing but breathing and there are like shoot, I don't know several different cuts of this movie.

[00:17:34] I've only ever watched the like 229 cut.

[00:17:38] I was thankfully able to find the longer cut that has now been since out of print because Fox distributed it.

[00:17:46] It is a very interesting film to do in terms of Sergio Leone more known for these westerns to kind of watch him do this poetic gangster epic is quite an achievement.

[00:17:58] I find it in a lot of ways more interesting than something like the godfather in places.

[00:18:03] It's not to dig the godfather but this one's just a little more fascinating by the way he shoots it and decisions he makes.

[00:18:10] There are a lot of elements of this film that have aged horribly I rewatched it this week in preparation and I haven't watched in a minute.

[00:18:18] There's a lot of stuff that definitely does not hold up just definitely should have context for the kind of films that Leone made prior to this because there is very much is also an exploitation film at a time when we're moving away from that.

[00:18:32] But I can see how a butcher down version of this film would just completely.

[00:18:40] Completely throw people off and he wouldn't want to go at it with buck with it wouldn't make a lot of money back so.

[00:18:48] But if you've managed to find a copy of it and check it out it's worth your attention.

[00:18:55] You may need to watch this in chunks it can drag on a little bit kind of like my review of that I rented it at the video store when I worked there and I started it and I never finished it.

[00:19:06] Another ringing endorsement by Brad he loves our.

[00:19:10] I love movies guys.

[00:19:14] I think Brad's impressed with our number 10 selections.

[00:19:17] Yeah no it's I promise it's a lot more fun from here so yeah my number 10 once upon a time in America just picture me having the hardest iron rolls entering your movies into the flu ray.

[00:19:29] Number 10 like these guys actually have to look up this trailer.

[00:19:34] One of the cool things about having like an awesome year is that most of the trailers are available and an HD.

[00:19:39] Yeah they've remastered a lot of them yeah unlike 83 were like most of the lost time.

[00:19:45] Let's just stick with that one.

[00:19:48] Brad doesn't even remember his list.

[00:19:54] I don't.

[00:19:57] Goldfish brain what is that?

[00:19:59] Oh okay.

[00:20:01] Yeah sorry guys we got our first sweeper and it's from me.

[00:20:05] Wow early.

[00:20:08] The kids of Elham Street don't know it yet but something is coming to get them.

[00:20:15] There's something out there isn't it?

[00:20:23] We just see cuts happening what did that look at.

[00:20:27] I don't know.

[00:20:29] There's a car in the car to say.

[00:20:31] It's in the John Pugans since he saw it.

[00:20:33] We're gonna kill me for sure.

[00:20:34] Did you do it?

[00:20:35] There was somebody else there.

[00:20:36] He was locked in a room with a girl who went in alive and came out in a rubber bag.

[00:20:41] You know what you know is where it came from.

[00:20:44] All who live with me is at the next.

[00:20:46] Nancy there's something wrong with you you're imagining things.

[00:20:50] Night man on your L.

[00:20:52] You stink.

[00:20:53] You believe in the Pokemon?

[00:20:54] No.

[00:20:56] Whatever you do don't fall.

[00:21:00] No!

[00:21:03] No!

[00:21:05] She's the only one who can stop it if she fails.

[00:21:10] I'm your boyfriend now Nancy.

[00:21:14] No one will survive.

[00:21:17] Help me!

[00:21:27] The Whisk Raven director of the Hills have eyes and last house on the left.

[00:21:33] Unyou must have peace in fantasy terror.

[00:21:36] Nightmare on Elm Street.

[00:21:39] Yeah my number nine is a nightmare on Elm Street.

[00:21:42] You unimaginable bastard.

[00:21:43] Why?

[00:21:44] Why can't I have it at night?

[00:21:46] It's fine.

[00:21:47] Is it because yours is higher somewhere?

[00:21:49] Maybe!

[00:21:50] Yeah I swept somebody with that one.

[00:21:55] Both of us.

[00:21:56] You son of a bitch.

[00:21:57] And probably Carol.

[00:21:58] When I get to her list I bet Nightmare on Elm Street's all there.

[00:22:01] Yeah.

[00:22:03] You know Freddy is a cool character and all but there's great effects in this movie.

[00:22:09] Cool imagery.

[00:22:11] Genuinely freaky but I'm never really scared watching it

[00:22:16] and there are some release silly parts that are just like meh.

[00:22:20] I'd rather watch Jason slash people.

[00:22:24] Yeah I mean I agree.

[00:22:28] But I'll talk about it later.

[00:22:30] It's an important movie.

[00:22:33] I mean yeah it's definitely like in the history of cinema super important but also like on my list.

[00:22:38] Come on give me a break.

[00:22:39] It's in the 10 guys.

[00:22:41] In 1984 there's like 30 movies that could take that spot.

[00:22:45] Her mom is a great actress in this film.

[00:22:48] Probably play play.

[00:22:49] Yeah.

[00:22:50] I'm just kidding she's awful.

[00:22:51] I like her in the movie.

[00:22:52] Oh yeah it's bad.

[00:22:53] Oh look Lauren we killed him.

[00:22:58] Yeah yeah I said it off my like yeah she just has like unopened bottles of liquor in throughout

[00:23:06] the house when Nancy finds the love in the kitchen drawer like how did she know was there?

[00:23:14] It's just there.

[00:23:17] Yeah there's a part where Saxon comes to the house and walks up the stairs and goes to a whole other home alone scene

[00:23:26] where Nancy spends like five minutes booby trapped in the whole house with like industrial grade everything.

[00:23:32] Then he gets the top of the stairs.

[00:23:36] Yeah the editing little shaky but it's still like a cool movie and it's really important to horror in 1984 in general.

[00:23:46] Great.

[00:23:47] Yeah you guys will wait to talk about it better than I will.

[00:23:53] My number nine is from director Walter Hill and there's another film I discovered through shout factory.

[00:24:00] I'll be coming for her and I'll be coming for you too.

[00:24:04] Sure you will and I'll be waiting.

[00:24:15] You are about to enter a world unlike any you've ever seen before where rock and roll is king.

[00:24:22] The only law is a loaded gun where the beautiful.

[00:24:27] Stan see the show it's really good.

[00:24:29] The brutal I want Tom Cody and the brave all meet.

[00:24:33] Now on it's for real in streets of fire.

[00:25:15] Do you know where to go?

[00:25:22] You go down on the path and ready to go.

[00:25:27] Even if you don't let it go, you go down on the path and ready to go.

[00:25:34] You're going to speed.

[00:25:37] Time is time.

[00:25:40] Come and shut me going nowhere fast.

[00:25:43] Everybody's gone nowhere slowly.

[00:25:46] I know we've already gone to just a few laps.

[00:25:49] There's nothing wrong with going nowhere baby.

[00:25:52] Come and shut me going nowhere fast.

[00:25:55] It's so much better going nowhere fast.

[00:26:00] Now from the creators of 48 hours, Universal Pictures presents Michael Paray, Diane Lane,

[00:26:07] Rick Moranis, and Amy Madigan in a Walter Hill film, Streets of Fire.

[00:26:16] My number nine is Streets of Fire, which stars Diane Lane as a really famous rock and roll singer

[00:26:25] and she gets kidnapped.

[00:26:28] And the only one that could save her is her ex-boyfriend.

[00:26:31] And he's hired to save her.

[00:26:35] Because he wouldn't do it on his own.

[00:26:38] No, bro, he needs the money.

[00:26:41] It's a really fun movie.

[00:26:44] I know Brad hates this one too.

[00:26:46] I hate it.

[00:26:47] I just think it's goofy.

[00:26:49] It is goofy, but it's very 80s.

[00:26:52] And it's just a...

[00:26:54] As you can tell, listening to the trailer, the music and it's really good.

[00:26:58] Diane Lane is awesome in it.

[00:27:00] Willum DeFoe is great as the bad guy.

[00:27:03] And I'm sure this Michael Paray's voice.

[00:27:06] And I can't learn.

[00:27:07] Yeah, I just had fun watching it.

[00:27:09] The Blue Ray, if you get it, has a two-hour making of that's really great too.

[00:27:14] So real time making a documentary.

[00:27:18] It's like the four hour Rob Zombie documentary for Halloween.

[00:27:23] That's good stuff.

[00:27:24] The movie does feel like it's four hours long.

[00:27:27] So once upon a time in America, Walter comes to career.

[00:27:30] No, it does not feel...

[00:27:31] It's like 90 minutes.

[00:27:32] It goes by fast.

[00:27:33] The only thing he does is run away from the town and come back.

[00:27:35] Oh, it says bad vibes.

[00:27:37] Don't listen to Brad.

[00:27:38] He doesn't know what he's talking about.

[00:27:40] His movie is awesome.

[00:27:42] I only knew about this movie because Mr. Kluge took a song from it to using the comedy

[00:27:47] verrors when we did it at school for the play.

[00:27:50] I was like, oh, I bet this movie is awesome.

[00:27:52] It's like 15 years later.

[00:27:55] Oh, aw.

[00:27:57] Why?

[00:27:58] What's this movie about?

[00:28:00] I don't get it.

[00:28:01] It's about young love and rock and roll, Brad.

[00:28:04] Aren't you listening to the fucking trailer?

[00:28:06] I did.

[00:28:07] It sounded like a Rocky Horror picture knockoff.

[00:28:09] Oh, you just said it was a bitch.

[00:28:11] I mean, I don't know.

[00:28:12] Rocky Horror picture show is great, but it could have used a lot more talking heads.

[00:28:16] Is it great?

[00:28:17] Is it great?

[00:28:18] I met musically.

[00:28:20] Musically.

[00:28:21] Zach, number nine.

[00:28:23] All right.

[00:28:24] My number nine and all gets more fun from here.

[00:28:26] My number nine is the closest that any film explosion here will get to Jack Benny.

[00:28:30] And here it is.

[00:28:31] Oh, God.

[00:28:32] I still watch over people.

[00:28:33] You devil.

[00:28:34] I love to scare the hell out of people.

[00:28:36] That old black magic has me in its spell.

[00:28:38] That old black magic that I weave so well.

[00:28:42] I'd sell my soul to the devil to make it in this business.

[00:28:52] When a rock and roll singer sold his soul to become a star.

[00:28:56] This is fun!

[00:28:57] Guess it answered his prayers.

[00:28:59] Who are you?

[00:29:02] Oh, my God.

[00:29:03] I'm guessing you're...

[00:29:07] Oh, God.

[00:29:09] You devil.

[00:29:10] I can make things happen.

[00:29:14] I'm running the big operation.

[00:29:15] Fun but I'm cold.

[00:29:16] I hate it when he does that.

[00:29:19] It's me, Bobby.

[00:29:20] God.

[00:29:21] He needs you.

[00:29:22] You look like the devil.

[00:29:23] He's always wanted to look like me.

[00:29:26] But I'm God.

[00:29:27] People think because I'm the devil I'm sensitive.

[00:29:30] What happens when my contract is up?

[00:29:34] Those little things I enjoy.

[00:29:36] You have to let me out of this deal.

[00:29:38] No, I want the kid back.

[00:29:40] You're going to have him back if you win.

[00:29:42] Oh, God.

[00:29:44] You definitely get that good, huh?

[00:29:46] Not bad.

[00:29:47] George Burns and George Burns in Oh, God.

[00:29:51] You devil.

[00:29:52] It'll be fabulous.

[00:29:54] So yeah, my number nine is Oh, God, you devil.

[00:29:58] The Benny connection is that George Burns and Jack Benny were super great friends

[00:30:02] and one of the executive producers on this is Irving Fine,

[00:30:04] who was Jack's manager before passing

[00:30:06] and then went over to George.

[00:30:09] This is one of the last films I feel like where George enjoyed himself seemingly.

[00:30:15] Because first of all, there's an extension off of the

[00:30:19] of a Carl Reiner's Oh, God.

[00:30:21] And oh, God, book two is.

[00:30:23] It's whatever this one's a little bit more fun.

[00:30:27] Burns gets to play the devil alongside of God as well.

[00:30:31] And it's a lot of fun to just kind of watch him play around with.

[00:30:35] You know, like family friendly or like audience everywhere.

[00:30:40] Devil humor.

[00:30:42] This movie does not go for anything like later.

[00:30:46] Like Ghostbusters comparatively has more sex jokes than Oh, God, you devil.

[00:30:51] But the basic plot is a musician sells his soul to the devil and the devil picks it up on his

[00:30:58] super computer because he already owns Mo Mark Adafi and EDM in clearly.

[00:31:03] And he goes, he finds him and he tracks him down and he signs him into contract.

[00:31:10] But the thing that you learn is that God watched over him in the 60s when this kid was, you know,

[00:31:16] going to die.

[00:31:17] So it's going to be between them to see who gets his soul.

[00:31:22] So yeah, you know, it's interesting to watch him in this film because I feel like it's the last he enjoys himself

[00:31:29] because I never really knew about this until the last year or so, but apparently Irving fine.

[00:31:35] His manager and who was Jack's manager ended up dictating a lot more of George's activity in the last 10 to

[00:31:42] 15 years of his life.

[00:31:43] And apparently if Irving didn't want to go somewhere, then the movie then George wouldn't be in the movie.

[00:31:50] One of the films that George was offered and had to turn down because Irving wouldn't go for it was going to be old men.

[00:31:55] He was going to be the Burgess Meredith character.

[00:31:57] So it's sort of sad near the end in some places, but George loved performing.

[00:32:04] He would have never wanted to be, he would have had to been dragged off stage.

[00:32:08] So as much as that's sad, the man clearly wanted to keep performing until the moment he died.

[00:32:14] And this is another example of that dedication to getting up on the stage and doing what he wanted to do.

[00:32:19] And he's a lot of fun in the movie.

[00:32:21] The movie's like a cute, acute enough comedy, but it's watching him.

[00:32:27] That's really the reason you're going to sit down with this film.

[00:32:30] So yeah, my number nine, oh god you devil. A lot of fun.

[00:32:35] Brad number eight.

[00:32:38] Someone must have fed me after midnight because you're getting another sweeper.

[00:32:42] Steven Spielberg presents Grimmlands.

[00:32:47] Billy Pelser has a nice home.

[00:32:51] Billy is that you?

[00:32:53] Yeah, it's me.

[00:32:55] A nice job.

[00:32:58] A nice girl.

[00:33:00] If you're not doing anything this Thursday night, maybe you'd like to go out on the date with me?

[00:33:05] I'd love to.

[00:33:07] And a loving parents who are about to give him.

[00:33:10] No, no, no, don't shake it.

[00:33:12] We're going to have to open it now when we go Christmas.

[00:33:14] The most unusual gift.

[00:33:16] Yeah, we got.

[00:33:18] What is it?

[00:33:19] It's your new pet.

[00:33:20] Come on, Bonnie, be a good dog.

[00:33:22] My dad gave it to me.

[00:33:24] There are a few things to keep in mind.

[00:33:27] If you expose it to the light, you may hurt it.

[00:33:30] If you get it wet, it will multiply.

[00:33:33] All that from water?

[00:33:35] They got wet?

[00:33:36] Yeah, plain water.

[00:33:37] And most important, no matter how much they beg, never, never let them eat.

[00:33:43] After midnight because when they do, they change.

[00:33:50] Rave.

[00:33:54] They become clever.

[00:33:59] Miss Jeffus, come here.

[00:34:03] You're dangerous.

[00:34:04] That one's a little monstrous.

[00:34:08] Right.

[00:34:11] 100s of them?

[00:34:12] Well, I don't know maybe thousands.

[00:34:14] They can you two.

[00:34:16] Do we put all these things where do they come from?

[00:34:19] Look, I know it sounds crazy.

[00:34:21] I know.

[00:34:22] But in a few hours, we can have a major disaster on your hands.

[00:34:24] Ah!

[00:34:25] Ah!

[00:34:26] Ah!

[00:34:27] Ah!

[00:34:28] Ah!

[00:34:29] Ah!

[00:34:30] Friends directed by Joe Dante.

[00:34:33] They'll be expecting you.

[00:34:35] You will be expecting me to be out with you.

[00:34:38] So yeah, my number eight is Gremlins of fun little monster movie.

[00:34:43] Great.

[00:34:44] Yeah.

[00:34:45] Great creature effects.

[00:34:48] Kind of a disturbing little story, especially in the middle with Phoebe Kate's character.

[00:34:54] It's almost like, oh, this silly little monster movie has like this serious, dramatic pause in the middle.

[00:35:05] Yeah, Christmas horror movie.

[00:35:09] Should be in the more in the conversation with Die Hard is a fun holiday alternatives.

[00:35:15] I think it is.

[00:35:16] Yeah, I think it is.

[00:35:17] It's just Die Hard is the funnest go-to example, I guess, comparatively.

[00:35:22] Yeah, I mean, you only swept me by one so it's my number seven.

[00:35:26] But it's definitely something my wife loves this movie.

[00:35:30] We watch it every year for Christmas.

[00:35:33] And yeah, it's like the creature effects are awesome.

[00:35:36] Growing up, I always loved Gizmo.

[00:35:38] Oh, yeah.

[00:35:39] It was adorable.

[00:35:40] I always loved when he was in the Barbie Corvette, you know.

[00:35:44] Yeah.

[00:35:45] Is this the one where you also like puts the Rambo headband or is that two?

[00:35:49] I think that's two.

[00:35:50] I think so, this one doesn't it?

[00:35:52] I'm trying to remember it's been a minute.

[00:35:54] Yeah, I guess it would have to be because 85 was when Rambo had the headband.

[00:35:58] Yeah.

[00:35:59] Yeah, and then like the takes place in the same town is back to the future.

[00:36:03] It sure does.

[00:36:04] It's all connected, my friend.

[00:36:06] It's all connected.

[00:36:07] Marty was back in time when this happened so he didn't get to experience it.

[00:36:12] But yeah, Gremlins is a fun family film.

[00:36:15] Yeah, I mean my kid loves it.

[00:36:16] He's nine.

[00:36:17] Yeah.

[00:36:18] It's your kids, Marty.

[00:36:19] They fed them all way up to midnight.

[00:36:20] Like this one is definitely like freakier and scarier than two.

[00:36:23] Like two is just like a strip comedy.

[00:36:25] Two is a fucking looney to cartoon.

[00:36:27] Yeah.

[00:36:28] But he has a kid who is a little terrifying as a kid.

[00:36:30] Yeah, yeah.

[00:36:31] I don't disagree.

[00:36:32] Especially when they're falling Gremlins.

[00:36:34] You're supposed to root for Stripe, right?

[00:36:36] So yeah, my number eight, Gremlins.

[00:36:40] My number eight is a coming of age tale that you learn from a wise old man.

[00:36:51] This is it.

[00:36:52] This is the end of the line.

[00:36:56] Tell them to tell you about the pool here.

[00:36:59] For Daniel Luruso.

[00:37:00] Is this only pool you guys got?

[00:37:01] The future seemed far from terrific.

[00:37:04] This place is a dump.

[00:37:05] You should go back to New Jersey.

[00:37:07] Hey, I know it's hard, but we're not quite as always.

[00:37:11] Until he met the right girl.

[00:37:14] She's beautiful.

[00:37:15] I say she's beautiful.

[00:37:16] I think she's beautiful.

[00:37:17] Did you read your address?

[00:37:18] You got it.

[00:37:19] But that only angered the wrong guy.

[00:37:26] You know, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

[00:37:28] Definitely.

[00:37:29] We gotta be nuts.

[00:37:30] And his troubles really began.

[00:37:34] Not pushing.

[00:37:35] Nice and painful.

[00:37:37] Then in one man, he found a teacher.

[00:37:41] I promised teacher, karate, and a friend fighting.

[00:37:44] Always last answer.

[00:37:49] How did you do that?

[00:37:50] No.

[00:37:52] First time.

[00:37:53] Power, all body.

[00:37:55] Yeah, make a perfect picture.

[00:37:57] How do I know if my picture's the right one?

[00:38:00] If it comes from inside you, always right one.

[00:38:04] Listen about the balance.

[00:38:06] Not just karate, listen for all life.

[00:38:11] White drink.

[00:38:13] Don't have to fight.

[00:38:14] Hey, body care.

[00:38:16] I'm not letting them move.

[00:38:17] Yeah!

[00:38:20] You know, points are no point.

[00:38:22] You did meet.

[00:38:23] I don't have much of a cheer in section.

[00:38:25] You got me.

[00:38:26] In the end, it will be in Daniel's hands.

[00:38:29] Oh, yeah, I'm standing up.

[00:38:31] In his body.

[00:38:37] And most of all, in his mind.

[00:38:39] Concentrate focus power.

[00:38:41] Remember, balance.

[00:38:42] No mercy.

[00:38:44] The Columbia Pictures presents...

[00:38:47] The Karate Kid.

[00:38:48] Hey, what kind of built you up?

[00:38:50] Canvas.

[00:38:51] You like?

[00:38:53] GCPenny G-98.

[00:38:56] My number eight is the Karate Kid.

[00:38:59] And I swept somebody.

[00:39:02] Get him a body bag, Ryan.

[00:39:05] Yeah!

[00:39:06] I recently re-watched this and I was reminded of how much I love this movie.

[00:39:11] And how much I enjoyed it as a kid.

[00:39:15] My brothers and I watched it all the time.

[00:39:18] And it's just a really fun movie.

[00:39:23] It's a great movie.

[00:39:24] It's a really fun movie.

[00:39:26] It's one of those coming of age movies I really like because it's...

[00:39:30] I love 80s movies, so it has a nice 80s aesthetic to it.

[00:39:34] It has a killer soundtrack.

[00:39:36] Which is imagine you're wetting to Elizabeth's shoe being like.

[00:39:39] Oh my gosh, dude.

[00:39:41] Well, like I said it during the trailer is playing but I love Elizabeth.

[00:39:45] I had the biggest crush on her from this movie and then if you listen to film

[00:39:52] in 1886, I also talk about adventures in babysitting.

[00:39:55] I always wanted her to be my babysitter because she's smoking hot.

[00:39:59] And even as she's gotten older man, she's still a smoke show.

[00:40:04] I still love my wife but I'm just saying Elizabeth's shoe if she wanted to go to

[00:40:09] Kokemo and I was a bartender.

[00:40:11] I'm just saying I'd go.

[00:40:13] Wait down to Kokemo?

[00:40:15] A Ruba.

[00:40:16] Anybody cocktail fans here?

[00:40:18] Just a song.

[00:40:21] So yeah, no I just...

[00:40:23] I think the performances are great in it.

[00:40:26] Yeah, Ralph Machio is awesome in this film because you believe in...

[00:40:32] Actually when I was watching it again, I really fell in love with his mom too

[00:40:36] because you're never really told why they moved to California.

[00:40:41] But you realize that she's doing what's best for her and her family

[00:40:44] and she's a single mom and she works her ass off and she's supportive.

[00:40:49] She's a great character in this movie.

[00:40:51] This movie is great.

[00:40:52] Williams up could too man, I know he's the villain but if he clearly has some bad issues

[00:40:59] and I've not watched Cobra Kai yet but I'm assuming some of that's explored so...

[00:41:07] I mean it's generally explored like just masculinity in general

[00:41:13] I'm trying to think like...

[00:41:16] I think they do address like an off-handing comment.

[00:41:20] They do say like why they moved out of New Jersey at some point.

[00:41:23] Yeah, off top I think he left.

[00:41:27] But I think maybe in two or three it's been...

[00:41:31] Yeah, I can remember.

[00:41:32] I just watched two and three as well.

[00:41:34] Obviously Crodde Kid Part One stays with you forever.

[00:41:38] Two and three are okay.

[00:41:40] Two is actually pretty good three.

[00:41:42] I would say three is like...

[00:41:44] Yeah, have a Rita though.

[00:41:45] It's itching good one said.

[00:41:47] Like this got him an Oscar nomination.

[00:41:48] Yeah and to that point it was what? Happy days.

[00:41:51] Yeah, it should have. He's awesome in the movie.

[00:41:53] Oh yeah his performance sticks with you so much that you couldn't imagine

[00:42:01] that Jackie Chan would be able to match it in that 2010 film but he ends up being the best part of that movie

[00:42:07] at all period. They both show the range that they need to and they're drinking and we're lamenting.

[00:42:14] Like yeah, that's a good film.

[00:42:17] Yeah good stuff. Brad number seven.

[00:42:19] Alright my number seven come with me if you want to see me sweep another one.

[00:42:24] Are you fucking kidding me?

[00:42:29] In the 21st century a weapon will be invented like no other.

[00:42:35] This weapon will be powerful versatile and indestructible.

[00:42:41] It can't be reasoned with.

[00:42:44] It can't be bargained with it.

[00:42:47] It will feel no pity, no remorse, no pain, no fear.

[00:42:56] It will have only one purpose to return to the present and prevent the future.

[00:43:04] This weapon will be called the Terminator.

[00:43:09] You're dead honey.

[00:43:13] What is it? The date.

[00:43:17] 12 May. Thursday.

[00:43:20] What year?

[00:43:37] I'm here to help you.

[00:43:40] DN 38416, assigned to protect you. You've been targeted for termination.

[00:43:52] What is it with me? Why me?

[00:44:03] Arnold Schwarzenegger is...

[00:44:07] The Terminator.

[00:44:10] Your future is in its hands.

[00:44:14] Possibly responses for Brad putting it that low.

[00:44:18] Cool, no fuck you asshole.

[00:44:21] Fuck you asshole.

[00:44:24] Yeah my number seven is the Terminator which you know it's only this low I guess because two is so much more awesome than this is.

[00:44:34] Yeah, you're all agreeing with me.

[00:44:38] Maybe Cameron should remake all of his movies so he'll get it right the second time around.

[00:44:43] I mean Avatar?

[00:44:46] Avatar Where Water Is Better Than Avatar?

[00:44:50] It's more interesting.

[00:44:54] The Terminator is...

[00:44:57] The second one is more of an action film with better writing, better effects.

[00:45:02] This one is kind of just like a slasher movie.

[00:45:05] It's very simple, very elemental.

[00:45:08] It's fucking cool!

[00:45:10] It's cool it's on the list. Fuck.

[00:45:14] Yeah that's about it.

[00:45:17] I don't remember the dialogue being that great in this one and that's not surprising for Cameron but...

[00:45:25] Yeah, this two is so much better.

[00:45:28] I would just rather watch two all the time.

[00:45:31] It's just like the first one but he had more time to write it.

[00:45:36] I mean in a weird way you can only watch two and be fine.

[00:45:40] Yeah, like it gets it.

[00:45:43] It takes all the best stuff from the first one and just makes it better.

[00:45:46] But yeah this one's definitely less fun, just more serious, darker, scarier.

[00:45:53] Like the 13th movie there's a slasher chasing these people throughout the whole thing.

[00:45:58] So yeah, it's very simple.

[00:46:00] My number 7, The Terminator.

[00:46:03] My number 7 is also a repeat. It's Gremlins.

[00:46:07] I mentioned that we watch it every year.

[00:46:09] My wife adores this movie.

[00:46:12] It's a fun movie.

[00:46:14] It could not be on my list.

[00:46:16] I'm not as enamored with it as my wife is.

[00:46:19] I'm not that fun with it.

[00:46:21] I think the best way to sum up Gremlins is it's a fun movie.

[00:46:25] It's scary but it's not too scary.

[00:46:27] My kid loves it too and he's nine.

[00:46:30] I think it's a good entry level horror movie where it's still pretty horrific.

[00:46:36] The scares are always, I guess,

[00:46:41] tamed by the old lady flying out of the window.

[00:46:45] You took your kid to see Evil Dead Rise, right?

[00:46:48] Where's the trailer?

[00:46:50] Yeah, no. I took him to see Megan because I asked Brad.

[00:46:54] I said, hey is Megan scary? He says, no, it's like cute Chuckie.

[00:46:57] Oh, Kellan can see that.

[00:46:59] And so before though it had the Red Band trailer for Evil Dead Rise.

[00:47:05] And where I never, I'll never forget when the end of the trailer where she says,

[00:47:11] where's my mommy?

[00:47:13] Your mom is with the maggots now.

[00:47:16] My kids eyes were as big as fucking anime eyes.

[00:47:19] Oh my God, I might be the worst dad ever.

[00:47:22] So you watch this and you just like me?

[00:47:24] Yeah, I literally saw one man say the mom's with maggots so...

[00:47:28] Is anybody with the maggots here in this one?

[00:47:31] Zach, number seven.

[00:47:34] All right.

[00:47:35] My number seven and my number six are ones that could have interchanged a little bit placement wise

[00:47:40] but this is where I ended up during my mood that day.

[00:47:43] My number seven features everybody's favorite felt puppets.

[00:47:48] New York.

[00:47:50] Times Square.

[00:47:53] Broadway.

[00:47:56] All the lights.

[00:47:58] All the spectacle.

[00:48:00] All the excitement.

[00:48:02] Thousands come every day dreaming of one thing to make it to the top.

[00:48:07] Out of these thousands one has a very special dream.

[00:48:11] And he's got something unique, something ordinary people don't have.

[00:48:16] And together with his friends, he's gonna take this town by storm.

[00:48:22] A taxi?

[00:48:25] Taxi?

[00:48:28] Queen!

[00:48:31] The Mubbets take man happy.

[00:48:36] Coming soon from Tristar.

[00:48:40] Yeah, Mubbets take man happy.

[00:48:43] I'm a Mubbets fan.

[00:48:45] This one's not my favorite of the earlier entries and whatnot but it's still a fun time.

[00:48:50] It's about them trying to become big Broadway stars and whatnot.

[00:48:54] My standout scene from this film probably has to be where Miss Piggy is working in a department store with a co-worker

[00:49:03] and they just keep wasting the product and pissing off the manager.

[00:49:08] But yeah, it's a lot of fun.

[00:49:10] It's great to watch that the Mubbets have played and I'm always down for pretty much any adventure they've done.

[00:49:17] I'm kind of like there for even the worst of it.

[00:49:21] Muppets in space, I'll still watch.

[00:49:23] I watched Muppet Treasure Island a couple nights ago.

[00:49:27] Oh, that one's all right.

[00:49:29] I know that James is going like it's brilliant.

[00:49:34] But yeah, there's so many songs about rainbows.

[00:49:38] Well, what's on the other side?

[00:49:40] And it's a Frank Oz film so he clearly knows how to work these puppets and have fun with directing them.

[00:49:47] I'd like to rewatch it with my girlfriend because she didn't grow up with Muppets

[00:49:52] so she doesn't know how magical they can be.

[00:49:55] I love Steve Martin in this movie as the waiter.

[00:50:00] Excellent choice.

[00:50:01] No, that's Muppet.

[00:50:02] Am I mixing him up?

[00:50:03] Yeah, that's the Muppet movie.

[00:50:05] I was just a discaper in the Muppet movie just like I can't differentiate.

[00:50:09] Capers, the best of all of them.

[00:50:11] Muppet movie second, this one probably third.

[00:50:13] They played one of the at the midnight, the S-quire years ago.

[00:50:17] She knows like the last time I watched one of these.

[00:50:20] Fuck.

[00:50:21] Let me know if they're going to do it before that theater gets closed down by a bunch assholes!

[00:50:24] No, but Candace Bergens in this one too.

[00:50:29] And that's kind of sweet because her father without her father's ventriloquism worked.

[00:50:33] Jim Henson wouldn't have had a lot of spark of inspiration to do what he did in the Muppet world.

[00:50:38] So yes.

[00:50:39] Yeah, my number seven.

[00:50:41] Muppets take Manhattan.

[00:50:46] It was a my turn.

[00:50:47] Yep.

[00:50:48] I thought you were going to introduce me.

[00:50:49] Oh no, it was Brad number six.

[00:50:52] My number six, Ryan.

[00:50:54] Hold up in this cabin with me because we're going to fight Jason together.

[00:50:57] Oh fuck yes!

[00:51:11] Three times before you have felt the terror that you just know the madness.

[00:51:22] Live the horror.

[00:51:26] But this is the one you've been screaming for.

[00:51:34] Friday the 13th, the final chapter.

[00:51:38] Jason is back.

[00:51:40] He moves like a shadow.

[00:51:44] Dark and silent.

[00:51:47] There you shake your mind?

[00:51:50] He never utters a word.

[00:51:52] He doesn't even seem to breathe.

[00:51:54] Where the hell's the car scroll?

[00:51:56] Simply mindlessly.

[00:52:02] Mercilessly.

[00:52:07] Kills.

[00:52:09] But now Jason's reign of terror is over.

[00:52:15] Friday the 13th, the final chapter.

[00:52:20] Friday April 13th is Jason's unlucky day.

[00:52:27] My number six is Friday 13th, the final chapter as it's right.

[00:52:31] I have six.

[00:52:32] Heck yeah.

[00:52:33] Yeah, we're no dead fucks.

[00:52:34] No.

[00:52:35] That is definitely a dead fuck thing to say though.

[00:52:40] No, I tell everybody if you want,

[00:52:42] I think the ultimate Jason movie, it might be this one.

[00:52:45] Yeah, I think it boils down all the elements of what you like about a Friday 13th movie

[00:52:50] into the best possible amalgamation from this one.

[00:52:53] And it gives them affordable, formidable adversary.

[00:52:56] Yeah, the Tommy.

[00:52:57] What are my favorite shots in any Friday 13th?

[00:53:00] It's in the trailer is when Jason like bust through the door

[00:53:04] because they use that low angle to give him more of a imposing thing

[00:53:07] and it's just so well done.

[00:53:09] Yeah, you get Jason with the mask which is a thing.

[00:53:12] I was just pointed in the first two movies.

[00:53:14] And then yeah, he's like a strong threat.

[00:53:17] It takes place at a lake and a cabin still.

[00:53:20] And then has this added element of there's a kid who's a little disturbed

[00:53:25] because like what what's this face in three?

[00:53:29] Like he messes with masks and stuff too.

[00:53:31] But like Tommy gets, is that Arnie?

[00:53:34] Yeah, Arnie.

[00:53:35] But yeah, Tommy has like a little bit of a like a you know,

[00:53:38] a demented child element to him.

[00:53:40] And he actually figures into, you know, he's like fight Jason.

[00:53:45] Whereas you know, Arnie just.

[00:53:47] I think of like, I think of all the special effects make up Thompson Vini ever did

[00:53:52] for this franchise.

[00:53:53] My favorite has to be where they were able to get Jason sliding down the machete.

[00:53:58] Oh, yeah, that's fucking amazing.

[00:54:00] Yeah, a lot of the effects are like creative and cool in this one like indifferent

[00:54:03] and even the kids like have more going on.

[00:54:06] Yeah, in the other ones.

[00:54:07] Like George McFly there with his name.

[00:54:11] Chris McLevair.

[00:54:12] Yeah, Chris McLevair.

[00:54:14] Yeah, he starts off as like wondering why he's dumped.

[00:54:17] And then they meet the twins, which is interesting.

[00:54:21] And yeah, it's just I think it's a really fun movie.

[00:54:26] But I also think Jason's scary in it.

[00:54:28] You know, he's unrelenting.

[00:54:31] Which if I had to pick, you know, my favorite Friday the 13th,

[00:54:36] I always lean towards the ones where Jason is kind of unrelenting in them.

[00:54:41] Because the rest of stuff is fine.

[00:54:44] But yeah, you're right.

[00:54:45] I mean, I think all the teenagers have a cool story.

[00:54:48] You like them all.

[00:54:49] I don't think there's anyone in the movie where you don't like them.

[00:54:55] And.

[00:54:56] Yeah, I think I watching the stack film.

[00:54:58] I find him a little intolerant.

[00:55:00] He's not horrible.

[00:55:03] But he is annoying.

[00:55:04] Yes, but he gets his come up and of course he does.

[00:55:08] And the form to knife in the back of the skull.

[00:55:11] Yeah, I just yeah, it's one of it's one of my favorite Friday the 13th.

[00:55:16] And if this wasn't such a strong year of movies,

[00:55:19] it would definitely be a lot higher on my list.

[00:55:21] For sure.

[00:55:22] Yeah, it's like all the best elements of Friday the 13th, I think.

[00:55:26] Yeah, all can you own this like single movie?

[00:55:28] Because yeah, next one's five.

[00:55:29] And it's like oh my god.

[00:55:31] Yeah, that one's like an Oscar winner compared to five.

[00:55:35] And then the rest of them just get super natural after that because they're like,

[00:55:38] oh, we got to back.

[00:55:40] But that does lead Jason Lewis, which is a good.

[00:55:42] Oh, yeah, Jason Lewis is my favorite Friday the 13th.

[00:55:46] Zach, we're doing your number six now.

[00:55:48] My number six is a repeat, which is Grandlands.

[00:55:50] You guys have pontificated on it pretty brilliantly.

[00:55:53] I'll also point out the whole do you hear what I hear sequence?

[00:55:56] Oh, yeah.

[00:55:57] It's very well put together horror sequence.

[00:55:59] I like Joe Dante's work.

[00:56:01] So this is a lot of fun.

[00:56:03] I actually tend to enjoy Grandlands too a lot more.

[00:56:06] But just because I appreciate Cartoonie goofiness.

[00:56:11] But this is definitely like has tons of innovation going on for it from the makeup effects

[00:56:19] and the you know, like the creatures and whatnot on down to just the way it's able to.

[00:56:24] I actually think that the blending of the, you know, the heavier story elements amid this fanciful like wacky monster

[00:56:34] monsters from Hell scenario works a little bit better than most other films that try to do this.

[00:56:40] I think it's got a good heart on its sleeve.

[00:56:43] So yeah, my number six, Grandlands.

[00:56:45] A lot of fun.

[00:56:47] Heck yeah.

[00:56:48] Yeah.

[00:56:49] Brad number five.

[00:56:51] Oh, we're back to be already.

[00:56:52] Yeah, my first repeat is the karate kid.

[00:56:55] Yeah, awesome movie.

[00:57:00] Definitely as an Italian kid from New Jersey, I related to it a lot.

[00:57:04] But yeah, Ryan talked a lot about it before already.

[00:57:09] But yeah, it's one of my favorite things.

[00:57:11] The third one is obviously my favorite.

[00:57:13] Of course.

[00:57:14] That's it.

[00:57:15] Of course.

[00:57:16] But yeah, this kicked everything off.

[00:57:18] You know, the co-break high series draws heavily from obviously this.

[00:57:23] And then Mr. Miyagi's like performance and his side story which people they don't seem to remember a whole lot of but yeah that's like an emotional got punched.

[00:57:33] We find out like you know what his backstory is and everything.

[00:57:37] Yeah, that whole scene of Daniel and him where he's drunk in his home is.

[00:57:42] Yeah, it's a fucking beautiful.

[00:57:44] He's his story and everything.

[00:57:46] Yeah, and yeah, Mr. Miyagi just has like a lot of great lessons.

[00:57:50] Many presents him in like really fun ways that you know a lot of stuff would really help if people followed them today.

[00:57:57] Yeah, I agree.

[00:57:59] So and it's weird though.

[00:58:01] Like I do kind of as growing up, you know, I was just on.

[00:58:07] Daniel side.

[00:58:08] Daniel side throughout the movie but now I'm older and I kind of see like you know.

[00:58:13] Daniel's a little bit of a bully himself at times.

[00:58:16] Like it could have been over at some point but he kind of agnomon but um the whole co-break high franchise was such a mess anyway they should they deserve to go down.

[00:58:28] So yeah, this series kind of finds balance in all that which is great.

[00:58:34] So yeah, my number five, they're cry to kid.

[00:58:39] My number five is a blockbuster favorite and features really great rock and roll music.

[00:58:48] A walk by the blue van, a lot of bamboo to the food.

[00:58:51] A route to the food.

[00:58:53] A route to the food.

[00:58:56] A route to the food.

[00:58:58] A walk by the blue van, a lot of bamboo.

[00:59:00] Gotta go, they're soup.

[00:59:02] Just know what you're just want to do.

[00:59:04] Gotta go, they're soup.

[00:59:07] Just know what you're just want to do.

[00:59:09] Look, I'm not the first guy who fell in love with a girl who met in the restaurant who then turned out to be the daughter of a kidnap scientist

[00:59:14] only to lose her to a childhood lover who she last seen on a deserted island and who turned out 15 years later to be a leader at the French underground.

[00:59:20] I know it.

[00:59:22] It all sounds like some bad movie.

[00:59:25] The girl named Daisy.

[00:59:27] She almost found me crazy.

[00:59:29] She almost found me crazy.

[00:59:32] She tried me to the east and she tried me to the west.

[00:59:36] She's the girl that I love best.

[00:59:38] I do the prudent.

[00:59:39] A route to the food.

[00:59:41] A route to the food.

[00:59:43] A route to the food.

[00:59:45] A route to the food.

[00:59:47] A route to the food.

[00:59:49] A walk by the blue van, a lot of bamboo.

[00:59:52] My number five is one of my most favorite spoof movies that they don't make anymore.

[01:00:04] It's Top Secret, starring Val Kilmer as a rock and roll icon kind of like an Elvis style guy mixed with the beach boys.

[01:00:18] It's a zucker movie so it's really silly.

[01:00:21] The only way these movies work, besides all the visual stuff, is if people treat the dialogue that it's 100% real

[01:00:32] and they do.

[01:00:35] That's the only way these movies work because they're so absurd.

[01:00:39] I used to rent it all the time at Blockbuster and it has wonderful moments where he's meeting all the people from the French resistance.

[01:00:49] He's named Day Javu.

[01:00:54] He says, have we met before?

[01:00:57] Val Kilmer says, I don't think so.

[01:00:59] The guy turns his head away and turns really quick back at him.

[01:01:02] It's so stupid but it's so brilliant.

[01:01:05] There's even a great underwater fight scene where Val Kilmer is underwater.

[01:01:09] It has to be for a minute straight or they're fighting in a bar and the movie is stupid but it's really funny and super entertaining.

[01:01:18] Everybody should watch it.

[01:01:22] Number five, Zach.

[01:01:25] Well, y'all have been meaning to me already or at least Brad has.

[01:01:30] So I'm hoping that this hurts him as much as he hurt me.

[01:01:40] Ghosts.

[01:01:42] Hello, ghost busters.

[01:01:46] They're real.

[01:01:48] You do?

[01:01:50] You have?

[01:01:52] They're here.

[01:01:54] Ghost busters.

[01:01:57] Hey, every shit ghost!

[01:01:59] They catch the ghost that will stay dead.

[01:02:03] They're armed.

[01:02:12] They're dangerous.

[01:02:14] Try to imagine all life as you know it's stopping instantaneously and every molecule is dead.

[01:02:19] They're dangerous.

[01:02:22] Try to imagine all life as you know it's stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

[01:02:26] That's bad.

[01:02:28] Okay, our important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

[01:02:30] They're professionals.

[01:02:32] I'm the chairman of the largest paranormal removal company in America.

[01:02:37] You see it?

[01:02:40] They'll understand between you and the end of the world.

[01:02:44] The city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.

[01:02:47] Real wrath of God type stuff.

[01:02:49] Zach Fire and Brimstone coming down from the sky.

[01:02:52] Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together,

[01:02:55] Bassistaria, your girlfriend lives in the corner penthouse of Spook Central.

[01:03:02] You want this bite?

[01:03:04] Is this a trick question?

[01:03:07] We're beginning!

[01:03:12] Hey, stick.

[01:03:14] Hold it.

[01:03:16] You're not.

[01:03:17] Smoked.

[01:03:18] Big and hard.

[01:03:20] Ready.

[01:03:26] Ghostbusters, starring Bill Murray, Dan Accoid, Sigorni Weaver,

[01:03:32] Hadol Raymus, Rick Moranis, coming to save the world.

[01:03:39] Ghostbusters.

[01:03:42] We came!

[01:03:43] We saw we kicked it.

[01:03:44] See, I'm going to revive his ghostbusters.

[01:03:46] Ooh, Zach, you're awful.

[01:03:48] You're the worst one of us.

[01:03:50] It's my number four.

[01:03:51] All right, cool.

[01:03:52] It's not that much of a jerk.

[01:03:54] So how are you sweeping everybody's Zach?

[01:03:57] The closer I get to my 40s,

[01:04:01] the closer I become to James,

[01:04:03] and my outrage increases.

[01:04:05] Now, yeah, I love Ghostbusters.

[01:04:08] I think my parents tried to show me this movie when I was in like eight or nine

[01:04:15] and Slime were freaking me the fuck out.

[01:04:17] But I ended up finally watching it all the way through years later

[01:04:21] and adored it.

[01:04:23] And around the time that I watched it in full was also a time

[01:04:26] where I was starting to become an SNL fan,

[01:04:28] or at least a sort of era of SNL fan.

[01:04:31] And I still think it's hard.

[01:04:35] I think it's hard in some ways to enjoy Ghostbusters

[01:04:39] because people on the internet take this shit too fucking seriously

[01:04:45] and it's disgusting.

[01:04:48] These are fucking comedy movies,

[01:04:50] and I just never thought that they were...

[01:04:53] Oh, so comedy movie can't be cinema.

[01:04:56] Of course, Azee's style cinema because it's a comedy.

[01:04:59] This is cinema. Everything's cinema, dude.

[01:05:03] Marty's creating tribes and it's scary and he shouldn't do that.

[01:05:08] But yeah, no, I just...

[01:05:10] I wish that people could remember that these are fucking comedies first and foremost.

[01:05:14] They were designed by comedians.

[01:05:17] What are you talking about?

[01:05:19] What's people pissed about on the internet?

[01:05:22] Oh, they were upset with the fact that women were Ghostbusters at one point for some reason.

[01:05:25] They got very angry about it and we're very vitriolic.

[01:05:29] So that's why we got Afterlife, which is a fun movie too.

[01:05:33] I like all the Ghostbusters things that have come out that I've seen.

[01:05:36] And I haven't seen Frozen Empire yet.

[01:05:39] But so yeah, sometimes it takes the fun out of it.

[01:05:42] But when I'm like, oh man, there's so many toxic people

[01:05:44] that have ripped the enjoyment of this to shreds in places

[01:05:48] but they can't take away the joy of watching them and enjoying them period.

[01:05:54] But yeah, it's great.

[01:05:56] And I think that it's incredibly well directed for a comedy that is intertwining as genre.

[01:06:02] It's probably one of the top standards for if you're going to make a genre comedy of that nature

[01:06:07] you need to hit the balance points that this film hits.

[01:06:11] It's scary as well as hilarious.

[01:06:14] The opening sequence is still fucking unnerving like you don't know what's going on.

[01:06:20] It works well with its practical effects to achieve that.

[01:06:23] So yeah, it's a fun time.

[01:06:26] Who are you going to call when you need a good movie?

[01:06:29] Ghostbusters.

[01:06:31] Yeah.

[01:06:32] Boo!

[01:06:33] Yeah, you still suck.

[01:06:35] Brad, number four.

[01:06:37] Gosh, my number four.

[01:06:40] Do I have it in me for another sweeper?

[01:06:42] This one's going to rip your heart out.

[01:06:44] If a adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones.

[01:07:01] Ha ha!

[01:07:02] There it is!

[01:07:07] From Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

[01:07:11] Indiana Jones.

[01:07:15] At the temple of Doom.

[01:07:17] You don't believe me.

[01:07:20] You will, Dr. Jones.

[01:07:41] Yeah, there's my number four.

[01:07:50] Indiana Jones and the temple of Doom really tough for me with my number three.

[01:07:54] Oh, I'm sure it was!

[01:07:55] It slipped a lot when I was a kid.

[01:07:57] This movie was so influential.

[01:07:59] Like I created stuff a lot based on this specific Indiana Jones movie.

[01:08:04] As I've gotten older, obviously three has become my favorite.

[01:08:08] But yeah, this one was so twisted as an eight or nine-year-old.

[01:08:13] Just blew my imagination.

[01:08:16] Today it's regarded as this dark, odd, aberration in Indiana Jones early franchise.

[01:08:28] But when I grew up with it, I didn't know the difference at all.

[01:08:31] There's another cool Indiana Jones adventure where someone got their heart ripped out.

[01:08:37] Just the walk in the park.

[01:08:39] But yeah, now I know all the behind the scenes stuff with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg

[01:08:45] kind of airing their...

[01:08:48] What they're going through personally.

[01:08:50] Hey, you tear our hearts out!

[01:08:52] We'll tear yours out.

[01:08:53] Yeah, putting it into this dark twisted movie, which is awesome.

[01:08:57] And it'd be a lesson to you.

[01:08:59] Don't divorce us.

[01:09:01] Yeah, temple of Doom.

[01:09:04] Awesome.

[01:09:05] I'll talk about it later in its rifle spot.

[01:09:09] Number four for me is Ghostbusters.

[01:09:13] Yeah, this movie is great.

[01:09:15] It's always been a favorite of mine.

[01:09:19] Showing it to my kid who's become a huge Ghostbusters fan is always awesome.

[01:09:24] And just...

[01:09:27] This is when I love Bill Murray.

[01:09:30] As Bill Murray's got in later in his career, it doesn't seem like he wants to be in movies.

[01:09:36] In this though, he has such a command on screen and it's so funny

[01:09:42] and just easy to root for even though he's kind of a scoundrel in the film.

[01:09:49] But yeah, it's just between the mixture of comedy and horror,

[01:09:54] just a great balance.

[01:09:56] And when I was young, I used to love the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man.

[01:10:00] I still love him to this day.

[01:10:02] I have a little action figures of him.

[01:10:05] And yeah, it's one of those films...

[01:10:08] Like a lot of my top five films are films that have played like Brad talked about with Temple of Doom

[01:10:15] have played a really big part in me growing up.

[01:10:18] And ones that I would rent or when I was able to purchase.

[01:10:23] And I watch pretty regularly.

[01:10:27] And Ghostbusters is definitely one of them.

[01:10:30] And my kid loving Ghostbusters has rekindled my love for Ghostbusters

[01:10:35] and just a really fun movie to sit down and watch.

[01:10:39] And Zach, number four for you.

[01:10:41] Alright, my number four involves voyages of some kind.

[01:10:47] A ship of some sort.

[01:10:49] I'd play the drill.

[01:10:57] All that they've loved, all that they've fought for,

[01:11:01] all that they've stood for will now be put to the test.

[01:11:06] Star Track 3, the search for spot.

[01:11:10] The word suit, the word is no.

[01:11:13] I am therefore going anyway.

[01:11:15] You do this, you'll never sit in the captain's chair again.

[01:11:17] Engage auto systems, clear all more.

[01:11:19] Clear it sir.

[01:11:20] One quarter impulse power.

[01:11:22] Someone is stealing the Enterprise.

[01:11:24] Warp speed.

[01:11:28] I think I'll vertebrae her.

[01:11:29] She's army dogidos.

[01:11:30] Sheels up.

[01:11:31] The shield's none the responsive.

[01:11:32] Fire!

[01:11:36] We're sitting duck.

[01:11:38] Join us on this,

[01:11:40] a final voyage of the Starship Enterprise.

[01:11:44] Star Track 3, the search for spot.

[01:11:48] The adventure continues.

[01:11:52] Hey, my number three is search for spot.

[01:11:55] Zach?

[01:11:56] Right on, tag team review.

[01:11:57] Yeah, let's talk about it.

[01:11:58] Oh, live long and prosper, my friend.

[01:12:00] Yeah.

[01:12:02] This is not wrath of con.

[01:12:04] But, it's a lot of good.

[01:12:06] It's a lot of fun.

[01:12:07] I think it's also wonderful to watch Leonard Nimoy take a take command

[01:12:11] of the ship, so to speak in his directorial debut.

[01:12:14] I think he directs the hell of an action picture.

[01:12:18] It, uh, I think that if I had like a critique of it and whatnot,

[01:12:25] I think that there are some,

[01:12:28] there's some slight balance issues between what's going on on the Genesis planet

[01:12:32] compared to what's going on in the ship.

[01:12:34] But it's got a couple different storylines going on.

[01:12:36] So some are more interesting than others.

[01:12:39] Like frankly, what's going on in the Genesis planet?

[01:12:42] I would trip down a little bit more of and like kind of keep spotkin

[01:12:45] a little bit less.

[01:12:46] Let's not be so quick to show young spot.

[01:12:48] Let's actually focus on some of the other people and how they're

[01:12:51] why they would want to go on this journey that will get them all stripped

[01:12:55] of their commission.

[01:12:56] But also, uh,

[01:12:58] Commander Krueger,

[01:13:00] but by Christopher Lloyd is absolutely fantastic,

[01:13:03] uh, as a, as a Klingon villain for the enterprise to go up against.

[01:13:08] Um, and I think that as long as I live,

[01:13:12] even though

[01:13:14] Rath of Khan will make me cry harder.

[01:13:18] I think the second biggest cry that I get out of Star Trek has to be

[01:13:22] uh, when they bring,

[01:13:24] when they win spot is returned and he just goes, Jim,

[01:13:28] your name is Jim.

[01:13:29] And then they all hug each other at the end.

[01:13:31] And I'm like, it was worth it.

[01:13:33] Uh, it was worth getting stripped out of Star Trek.

[01:13:36] I just don't care.

[01:13:37] I'm just gonna start to tear a jerk or that part.

[01:13:38] You shut your bitch mouth.

[01:13:39] You know what?

[01:13:40] You know what, boy?

[01:13:41] Boy, boy.

[01:13:42] Yeah, I'm, I'm letting him go.

[01:13:44] You're a boy.

[01:13:45] Uh, yeah, no, um,

[01:13:47] yeah, it's, it's great.

[01:13:48] Star Trek 3 is awesome.

[01:13:50] Ryan doesn't know what he's talking about.

[01:13:52] Brad, why do you like a great Star Trek movie?

[01:13:54] Okay, maybe Temple of Doom should have been above this.

[01:13:57] Yeah, probably.

[01:13:58] Here I am.

[01:13:59] Um,

[01:14:00] I have a huge Star Trek fan and as a kid when I watched this,

[01:14:04] I didn't rank the films.

[01:14:06] This was just part two of a really awesome trilogy.

[01:14:09] Um, and, uh,

[01:14:11] I think it is fun.

[01:14:14] It's good to see a movie where, um,

[01:14:17] the characters are just kind of having like an,

[01:14:20] uh, an extended version of an episode.

[01:14:23] Um, the stakes aren't huge.

[01:14:25] Um, it's kind of like just like,

[01:14:27] we're, you know, we did a thing in the last one

[01:14:29] and we kind of want to undo it.

[01:14:31] So we can keep making these movies.

[01:14:33] Um, and I find with it.

[01:14:35] Uh, so that's kind of more why it's in, you know,

[01:14:38] my three spot is easily could have been four, but, you know,

[01:14:43] I love also those impetus like in terms of characterization,

[01:14:47] like each character does get their moment to shine.

[01:14:50] It's not just,

[01:14:51] it's not just McCoy and Shandrick.

[01:14:54] I think Leonard Nimoy knew how to give appropriate balance

[01:14:58] to each storyline regardless of what you would prefer

[01:15:01] out of like every section.

[01:15:03] Um, that's true. Like with Nimoy at the helm,

[01:15:06] like because it goes on to do four next.

[01:15:08] And that one everyone kind of gets a cool thing to do.

[01:15:11] Yeah.

[01:15:12] Um, whereas even in the TV show,

[01:15:14] like they really don't have a lot of screen time or like relevant parts.

[01:15:18] Yeah.

[01:15:19] I also love that the impetus of the,

[01:15:21] the prime motivator of this story is Leonard McCoy

[01:15:24] having to carry this burden to go like that green son of a bitch.

[01:15:27] He finally did it.

[01:15:29] I know, like what a great like device to have a person you kind of

[01:15:33] eats the most entirely in touch to him.

[01:15:37] Yeah.

[01:15:38] It's tragic but also hilarious.

[01:15:40] Um, yeah.

[01:15:42] Star Trek 3 is awesome.

[01:15:43] And I think the first time seeing the Enterprise blowing up,

[01:15:47] you know, I love the design of that ship

[01:15:50] and then to have it come back around in four.

[01:15:53] Yeah.

[01:15:54] You know, I sure remember being young and being like,

[01:15:57] what's the new ship going to look like?

[01:15:59] And then, yeah.

[01:16:00] Um, also, uh, you played it for your first sweeper.

[01:16:04] But when, when their ship,

[01:16:07] when the Klingon ship basically explodes and crew realizing what's going on,

[01:16:12] it goes, good out of the world!

[01:16:13] Yeah.

[01:16:14] Like, uh, Kirk has like a great one up moments in it too.

[01:16:18] And also like, you know, at the same time I was discovering these.

[01:16:21] I was watching taxi reruns so I was like,

[01:16:24] I'm back to the future fan and like, oh, there's the guy from taxi.

[01:16:27] I think you're just a big Christopher Lloyd fan.

[01:16:29] That's really what it is.

[01:16:30] It's not about Star Trek.

[01:16:32] It's not about, uh, it's not about back to the future.

[01:16:35] You just like Christopher Lloyd.

[01:16:36] That's the connecting thread.

[01:16:37] The only reason you've watched one flow over the Kukus Nest is just for his many minutes on script.

[01:16:42] Couple minutes.

[01:16:43] Yeah.

[01:16:44] Many couple of minutes.

[01:16:46] Oh, man.

[01:16:47] You guys aren't talking about it.

[01:16:48] Your discussion says boring as Star Trek 3.

[01:16:51] You're like the Kukus Nest.

[01:16:54] This is Star Trek podcast now you can.

[01:16:56] I mean, talk about, talk about a letdown from one of the greatest movies ever to that one.

[01:17:01] So as bad as the Matrix?

[01:17:03] Yeah.

[01:17:04] Well, I'm a lot of Matrix Defenders.

[01:17:06] Just came across the door.

[01:17:07] What number, which one was that?

[01:17:09] Uh, that was my three.

[01:17:12] And that was my four.

[01:17:13] So now it's your...

[01:17:14] So now it's your...

[01:17:15] So it's Zack's four, Brad's three.

[01:17:17] So now it's my...

[01:17:18] Right, number three.

[01:17:19] Now my number three?

[01:17:20] Yeah.

[01:17:21] Fucking fine, Lane Jesus.

[01:17:23] My number three is a repeat.

[01:17:25] Actually, I really like the search for Spock.

[01:17:28] I just want to give you guys shit.

[01:17:31] My number three is a repeat.

[01:17:33] It's a nightmare on Elm Street.

[01:17:35] There's a big theme.

[01:17:36] You'll see in my last three films that Brad has put these really low on his list and sweat me the rest of the way out.

[01:17:43] Yeah.

[01:17:44] It's interesting.

[01:17:45] You think uh, Mr. Spock is a snooze fest.

[01:17:48] And your number three is all about sleeping.

[01:17:51] Yeah.

[01:17:52] Yeah, so it's a nightmare on Elm Street is very innovative.

[01:17:58] It is a director who is on the top of his horror game.

[01:18:04] It introduces one of the greatest horror characters of all time in Freddie Krueger.

[01:18:09] Without that house getting built, you don't get horror luring.

[01:18:13] It's just, it's a really cool movie.

[01:18:16] Different premise for a villain.

[01:18:20] You know what makes it cool?

[01:18:22] What they try to explain in the later movies, which actually hurts Freddie Krueger.

[01:18:26] Is they really don't explain who he is?

[01:18:28] Is just he's a child molester and killer.

[01:18:31] And he is for some reason able to kill teenagers in their dreams.

[01:18:37] They never really say how.

[01:18:39] Which I'm fine with.

[01:18:40] Yeah, they should.

[01:18:41] Yeah, it makes it cool.

[01:18:43] He's an iconic look.

[01:18:44] Robert England is awesome.

[01:18:46] Just a really cool movie.

[01:18:48] And it's definitely one of my favorite Halloween movies.

[01:18:52] Oh no, you can give an answer to it.

[01:18:54] They're like, hey, ask me why does, how does Freddie get to attack people in the dreams?

[01:18:59] How does Freddie get to attack people in dreams?

[01:19:01] The magic.

[01:19:02] There we go.

[01:19:03] Perfect.

[01:19:04] Um, Zach number three.

[01:19:07] My number three is a repeat.

[01:19:09] It is the terminator.

[01:19:10] I love this movie.

[01:19:13] Uh, I understand that terminator two is a better movie.

[01:19:17] I really like the horror vibe of this first one a lot.

[01:19:22] Uh, I think that my, I think what I appreciate also is just watching all those early robotics

[01:19:29] before James Cameron got the CG bug like watching him play around with practical stuff is a lot of fun.

[01:19:35] And this is a great example of it.

[01:19:37] But nobody seems to the future and watching him play around in a world where he doesn't have those liquidy effects is just fantastic.

[01:19:47] Um, and Michael beans fantastic as calories.

[01:19:51] It's like it's so weird, but I do think this film gets forgotten in the shadow of terminator two, but it is such an important milestone for.

[01:20:00] Not just visual effects, but what Cameron aspires to do.

[01:20:04] Like it's the earliest stepping stone before he ends up doing a lot to innovate visual effects and special effects photography.

[01:20:11] Um, and it's really cool to just watch him play around in that sandbox because it's kind of the closest you get to like what those guys grew up, which was in some ways like creating those robots and or doing stop motion.

[01:20:23] Like you, it's, it's, it's the seed.

[01:20:26] Um, and Schwarzenegger fucking kills it.

[01:20:29] He's a menacing force of nature that Cameron used to great effect.

[01:20:35] And it's kind of cool to watch Arnold basically go through acting school in the 80s because these smaller steps cone in and things like this allow him to eventually become a little bit more of a fun comedic persona.

[01:20:49] It's just great to just watch him be a fucking monster.

[01:20:54] Number three terminator lots of fun.

[01:20:57] Uh Brad, number two.

[01:21:00] Um, I don't think mine number two is that mediocre.

[01:21:06] Are we going to appall you with something confidential and disgusting?

[01:21:11] Let's hope so because that is what you really like.

[01:21:15] Unconfessed crimes of buried wickedness.

[01:21:18] If that is what brings you to us, the prospect of hearing horrors you shall not go unrewarded.

[01:21:25] I don't believe it. The whole city is talking.

[01:21:28] You hear it all over.

[01:21:30] At the story.

[01:21:31] What a scandal.

[01:21:32] What a comedy.

[01:21:33] What a tragedy.

[01:21:34] Incredible.

[01:21:35] I don't believe it.

[01:21:36] Hope it believe it.

[01:21:37] What a horrors have you heard.

[01:21:39] Tell us.

[01:21:40] Tell us.

[01:21:41] Tell us at once.

[01:21:43] Tell us about both gang.

[01:21:45] Armageddon.

[01:21:46] Mozart.

[01:21:47] Mozart.

[01:21:48] How good is he?

[01:21:51] This Mozart.

[01:21:52] He's remarkable.

[01:21:53] Is an unprincipled, spoiled, conceited brat.

[01:21:57] I'm a vulgar man.

[01:21:59] I assure you my music is not.

[01:22:02] Rats me, make me a king.

[01:22:06] He's the bind me in the fire.

[01:22:09] He is arrogant, vulgar, obscene.

[01:22:13] He creates music for the gods.

[01:22:15] He is passionate, he burns with fire.

[01:22:17] He is an angel, he is a devil.

[01:22:20] He claimed he'd been poisoned.

[01:22:22] Some led he accused a man.

[01:22:24] Some said the man was Salieri.

[01:22:26] Salieri.

[01:22:27] Salieri.

[01:22:28] I don't believe it.

[01:22:29] All the same.

[01:22:30] Could it be possible?

[01:22:31] Did Salieri do it after all?

[01:22:33] Did he murder Amadeus?

[01:22:42] Amadeus.

[01:22:43] The man, the music, the magic, the madness, the murder, the mystery, the motion picture.

[01:22:52] Amadeus.

[01:22:53] Everything you've heard.

[01:22:56] The man is a man.

[01:22:58] Amadeus.

[01:22:59] The man, the music, the magic, the madness, the murder, the mystery, the motion picture.

[01:23:09] Amadeus.

[01:23:10] Everything you've heard is true.

[01:23:16] So yeah, my number two is Amadeus.

[01:23:20] And growing up as a German artist genius I can relate to this story of mediocrity chasing

[01:23:30] genius and the jealousy and rivalry that it creates.

[01:23:36] Just a gorgeous looking film brilliantly acted.

[01:23:39] It's one of those movies that I can like, oh, I'm just going to put this on the background

[01:23:43] and then get sucked into it.

[01:23:45] And be like, oh, I was supposed to work.

[01:23:47] I've just been paying attention to this movie.

[01:23:49] Last year I got to watch it at the symphony so they played like a live symphonic track with the movie.

[01:23:56] Yeah, it's just a really awesome, you know, especially powerhouse performance from F. Marie Abraham

[01:24:04] and Sally Erie telling this amazing story about this guy who's so jealous of this other guy's talent.

[01:24:13] And it's really heartbreaking like the last time I was like, it's so heartbreaking that by the end, you know, he gets to work alongside Amadeus as he's killing him.

[01:24:22] And you know, you kind of realize like, oh, if he wasn't stupid, he probably could have studied with him.

[01:24:28] Like, their talent is to combine.

[01:24:30] Probably could have solved both their problems.

[01:24:33] But no, all that ego got in the way for both of them.

[01:24:36] Like even Amadeus is kind of a villain because he just cannot be appreciative of other people around him and it's too, like, yeah, up his own ass about his own music.

[01:24:49] But he can't like get study work and stuff and fights with everybody.

[01:24:53] So yeah, just an amazing film and it's definitely my number two.

[01:24:57] It's certainly one of me low form and it's most like striking films he ever made.

[01:25:03] I do, I do like the film.

[01:25:05] In fact, I, the first time I ever watched it came because I was remembering a family guy joke where I think it's Peter goes like at the end, it wasn't doing it was God or something they do that bit.

[01:25:17] And I was just like, I wonder where that comes from. That's when I learned it was from Amadeus.

[01:25:21] And I'm excited because I've been reading rumblings that it might be one of criterion's next.

[01:25:26] Oh, so yeah, definitely.

[01:25:29] Yeah, yeah.

[01:25:32] Yeah, good.

[01:25:34] Getting out of Zavsla's hands.

[01:25:35] I think they're doing all like all melish form and stuff.

[01:25:37] So obviously that's going to make it in there.

[01:25:39] So the probably a one flew over the kooka's nest one at one point two.

[01:25:42] Maybe a man on the moon criterion.

[01:25:45] Yeah, so yeah, Amadeus saw some. I love it.

[01:25:48] It's one of the movies that I just get sucked into every time I watch it.

[01:25:51] Nice.

[01:25:52] And super long and it doesn't matter.

[01:25:54] It's your Irishman.

[01:25:57] And it creates great jokes for last action hero.

[01:25:59] Yes.

[01:26:02] My number two is a repeat.

[01:26:05] It's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

[01:26:08] It's my number two as well.

[01:26:10] Nice.

[01:26:11] Growing up, I always had to defend this one.

[01:26:14] I feel lately it's been getting a lot more traction of being a great adventure movie,

[01:26:19] which I always thought it was.

[01:26:22] For the longest time, it was my favorite Indiana Jones film as I've gotten older.

[01:26:28] And I watched Indiana Jones movies continuously.

[01:26:34] Raiders Lost Ark is my favorite but this one as a kid I always loved.

[01:26:39] I always loved how full of danger it was.

[01:26:42] There was times when I thought Indiana Jones wasn't going to get out of the predicament he was in.

[01:26:47] I mean, but obviously a hallmark of this is it's like a cereal and he'll always find a way to get out.

[01:26:52] But it also has one of my most favorite hero shots ever.

[01:26:56] When he goes and saves all the kids that are strapped in the mine and the mine cart rolls up and the like it lights him up.

[01:27:03] I think it's so amazing.

[01:27:05] I think the villain in it is really scary and a bastard.

[01:27:08] And short round is, you know, the sidekick you always wanted.

[01:27:13] The opening is fucking brilliant with the poison.

[01:27:17] And anything goes in Chinese.

[01:27:19] Yeah, just where's it Mandarin?

[01:27:21] I think.

[01:27:22] Yeah, sure.

[01:27:23] Yeah, Chinese Mandarin.

[01:27:25] Just everything I love everything about this movie.

[01:27:28] I think how it's shot.

[01:27:30] How it's all played.

[01:27:33] It's just.

[01:27:35] I just love it.

[01:27:37] Yeah, and it's Harrison Ford.

[01:27:40] I think at his peak, like action star guy.

[01:27:45] You know, he looks great in it.

[01:27:47] And he's funny and he makes mistakes.

[01:27:50] And I think that's why we all love Indiana Jones.

[01:27:54] Like we love Han Solo.

[01:27:56] It's Harrison Ford makes him seem like an unbeatable hero which he is.

[01:28:01] But he also makes mistakes and he also gets beat up.

[01:28:04] But he always gets up.

[01:28:06] That's what I like about Indiana Jones.

[01:28:08] And even if you want to say quote unquote the not as fun Indiana Jones movies,

[01:28:13] I still think they're great.

[01:28:14] I still have fun with them because I love the character.

[01:28:17] And that's why it's number two on my list of 1984.

[01:28:21] Yeah, this was the first Indiana Jones movie I ever saw.

[01:28:26] And it scared the shit out of me.

[01:28:30] Because I think everybody at a young age who watches somebody's heart being pulled out of a fucking chest.

[01:28:38] Oh, I do not think my parents remembered or knew that that would happen in the movie when they showed it because I was screaming.

[01:28:47] But yeah, it stuck with me.

[01:28:53] It certainly was a lot of it was a fun movie outside of those darker moments.

[01:29:00] And then the older I got, the more I realized, oh there's way more dark stuff going on in this thing.

[01:29:06] I understand you realized child slavery is way worse than someone getting their heart ripped out and living.

[01:29:12] Well, not only that but also the monkey brain stuff.

[01:29:16] And just the attitude of this film is very, very cynical and appropriately so.

[01:29:25] I think yeah out of all the inspiration films that took from this Gunga Dins probably one of the top candidates.

[01:29:33] I understand that it's portrayal of Indian culture is far from ideal.

[01:29:42] But you can't I think ultimately this film doesn't isn't trying to be mean.

[01:29:49] No, I always push back that stylized it is very stylized and short short round.

[01:29:57] Ki-han Kwan is is amazing in this film.

[01:30:00] Yeah, he holds himself up in a way that like very few sidekick characters can ever do.

[01:30:06] Like I'm more of a fan of short round than I am with Robin most days.

[01:30:10] Thank you for looking at sidekick characters.

[01:30:13] And look, Kate Capchow is not the best love interest Indiana Jones ever had but she's fine.

[01:30:20] She does perfectly fine in this film.

[01:30:22] She serves a purpose in the movie.

[01:30:24] Yeah, she does scream a lot but she is just as entertaining to watch.

[01:30:29] The character ability needs to be well, yeah, she's the fish out of water.

[01:30:33] Yeah, where it's okay Indiana Jones is whatever he's you know he that's what he does and short round is with him.

[01:30:41] Yeah, you know Billy she's a lounge singer who works for the Chinese mob I think you know just yeah.

[01:30:49] By the way that BuzzDee Berkeley opening that six with me.

[01:30:54] That's how I've always imagined like if you were going to do a new shadow movie you need to have a scene like that open it up or something of that nature.

[01:31:02] Like it would be a lot of fun but also like here's a fun little tip that as many times as I've gone to Disneyland as a kid.

[01:31:09] I've still never gone on the Indiana Jones ride and part of it is because that movie affected me so much that I'm still afraid I'll fucking this mic.

[01:31:17] Oh, you should go the Indiana Jones ride.

[01:31:20] I know I should.

[01:31:21] We were there last time my kid that was one of his favorite rides because it's awesome.

[01:31:25] I know and next time I ever go I will but because I finally watched the VR ride or like the people put up the YouTube videos and going on the

[01:31:32] ride. But for the longest time I wouldn't go on it my sister would go on it because she's braver than I am.

[01:31:37] But I wouldn't because I'm like I got freaked out by the temple of doom.

[01:31:41] I let you know secret it's it's not real it's cool.

[01:31:44] What?

[01:31:45] Wait, are you telling me that are you saying that Harrison Ford wasn't a doctor in the 40s of our

[01:31:52] calendar? He was.

[01:31:53] Yes.

[01:31:54] Wait, wait, he also did space adventures with the dog.

[01:31:58] Of course.

[01:31:59] So you're saying that all of my childhood fantasy movies are real.

[01:32:02] Yes.

[01:32:03] Okay so they are real so I should take them super seriously and get angry about them when people get them wrong, right?

[01:32:07] Yes.

[01:32:08] Okay good.

[01:32:09] It's two of the little things one of my most favorite jokes ever in family guy is when they're on the talk show

[01:32:17] and Peter says I guess I won't give it to you Meg.

[01:32:21] What?

[01:32:22] The antidote to the poison you just drank.

[01:32:25] I get immediately transported back to Indiana Jones like yes they're pulling things that I love.

[01:32:30] Do you remember the one from Stewie Gryff in the Untold story?

[01:32:35] It's a.

[01:32:37] Harrison he talks about having been his his gig as a child actor or something like that.

[01:32:44] And it just cuts him going whatever you do kid don't touch anything okay Dr. Jones I know

[01:32:48] touching anything and he leads into it in D and he goes lady on the hit because she humping

[01:32:53] director.

[01:32:54] You tell me right here I stand right here Dr. Jones.

[01:32:59] I also do love the delivery of N.D. when Billy's freaking out about all the food on the bank when he goes

[01:33:05] insulting them when you're embarrassing me.

[01:33:09] Good stuff.

[01:33:10] Yeah.

[01:33:11] Brad your number one film.

[01:33:13] My number one is a repeat that had Zach swept long ago.

[01:33:20] My number one is Ghostbusters long ago and follow away.

[01:33:27] Yeah, it's like your way eight or something.

[01:33:31] Yeah, that's a while ago.

[01:33:33] I feel like an attorney to go.

[01:33:34] It's been 84 years and I can still remember this week.

[01:33:39] But yeah, growing up as a young paranormal investigator I related to Ghostbusters quite

[01:33:46] of it.

[01:33:47] Yeah for me like this is the movie of 1984.

[01:33:53] Like I just identified this year with this movie.

[01:33:58] As a kid I actually like I think my brother got the proton pack and I got the ghost popper.

[01:34:04] And we had an attic in our house in Florida and my parents let us go up there in the dark.

[01:34:09] And like we had the little thing that would shine the ghosts on the wall.

[01:34:13] So we actually like Ghostbusted the ghost in our attic.

[01:34:17] Nice.

[01:34:18] And I was like always been like a really cool memory for me.

[01:34:21] But yeah, I always loved, I think I loved like the gadgets more than like the comedy of the movie.

[01:34:27] Like the jokes.

[01:34:29] Yeah, so I always love that stuff and then of course the animated series I watched a lot and that was a lot of fun.

[01:34:33] You know this new movie is exciting when they brought up the drone trap.

[01:34:40] Yeah.

[01:34:41] And then nothing else.

[01:34:42] At that time they're going to roll out a ton of new cool tech stuff.

[01:34:46] But yeah, like the movie's funny.

[01:34:49] It's just cool, the special effects are great, cast is great.

[01:34:54] It's just iconic.

[01:34:56] You know dumb idea turned into this like ultra cool.

[01:35:00] Yeah, like the big fight being this giant marshmallow thing.

[01:35:05] Just like it's visually just iconic.

[01:35:07] I just wanted to get covered in the marshmallow because it sounded like a taste really good.

[01:35:10] Yeah, I mean the movie itself is like a giant dollop of shaving cream but yeah, like it'd be way stickier.

[01:35:15] But yeah, it just looks like it's like a ton of fun.

[01:35:18] Yep.

[01:35:19] And actually the mysteries kind of cool like they tied it to this whole architectural thing.

[01:35:24] They've never really been able to recapture.

[01:35:27] Yeah, like they have new stories of like Ghost lore.

[01:35:31] But there's something about them are just like they don't feel cohesive.

[01:35:34] Yeah, it's feel like oh, here's a monster.

[01:35:37] It always seems like they've gone away from bust and ghosts.

[01:35:41] Also the puppetry and those practical ghost effects.

[01:35:46] Yeah, like slimer is an inspired creation.

[01:35:48] Yeah, this is a practical, practical, fantastic and also like you said before,

[01:35:52] it's hard for me to also love this movie like I used to because of the segment of the fan base that just won't let anyone touch it.

[01:36:01] Like they won't let them remake.

[01:36:03] It won't make a movie that's not the first movie again.

[01:36:07] So that's frustrating to like deal with because you know, it has such a rich lore that you can mine and just do new things with.

[01:36:15] And that's not going to happen because if those original ghostbusters aren't in it, man, they will write it.

[01:36:22] Even when those guys die, it reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons where it starts off with them shoving Andy Griffith as Matt Locke onto a stage and all the older people are fucking like tearing his clothes off and nearly killing him.

[01:36:37] I got his pills.

[01:36:41] I think that those fans would rather have them actually CGI those guys.

[01:36:46] It does like some weird creation and have them still be in the movies, then just let him die.

[01:36:52] Yeah, so yeah, not grow mancy, man, they're going to get on it.

[01:36:58] My number one is one that Brad swept really long time ago and is the terminator.

[01:37:08] Again, growing up one of the cool things about my dad because I come from a divorced family.

[01:37:17] You poor poor thing.

[01:37:19] Thank you.

[01:37:20] Super crackers.

[01:37:21] Thank you.

[01:37:22] It's okay.

[01:37:23] Thank you.

[01:37:24] That's all I want to do here.

[01:37:25] Right.

[01:37:26] It's not your fault.

[01:37:27] It's not your fault.

[01:37:29] Ryan.

[01:37:30] Yes, it's not your fault.

[01:37:33] I could finally face my demons.

[01:37:36] I know I wake up every day and hope the guy that you're not going to be there at that door.

[01:37:41] My dad will let us write any movie we wanted and I really liked Arnold Schwarzenegger.

[01:37:47] I still love Arnold Schwarzenegger and this movie and predator were always my favorite Schwarzenegger films.

[01:37:54] Predator slightly out guns this one because I like the monster in it.

[01:37:59] One also because if it bleeds you can kill it.

[01:38:01] Correct.

[01:38:02] But this one, I, you guys already said yeah, it's a slasher movie.

[01:38:06] Schwarzenegger is incredible in it.

[01:38:08] Just his physical presence alone and how he commands the screen.

[01:38:12] The music is awesome.

[01:38:13] The special effects are incredible.

[01:38:16] And what I appreciate it too is it is James Cameron stripped down.

[01:38:22] And when you strip him down from all his...

[01:38:28] I want to make the most expensive movies ever with the coolest looking eye candy.

[01:38:36] Give me his action and I'm telling you he's one of the best directors when it comes to action.

[01:38:41] When I watch true lies recently, there's nothing but it's like an action movie and he makes it like hum.

[01:38:48] That movie hums along just like Terminator.

[01:38:51] Yeah, it's it's mean.

[01:38:52] It's quick.

[01:38:54] I know I actually like it more than T2.

[01:38:57] What?

[01:38:58] Yeah, I said it.

[01:38:59] That's a very fair answer.

[01:39:00] He's wrong with you.

[01:39:01] Nothing.

[01:39:03] I just think that T2 is a great film and there's incredible action scenes in it.

[01:39:10] I just like the Terminator to be more, you know, mean.

[01:39:16] And that one he literally says at the end I need a vacation after he gets his ass kicked by the T1000.

[01:39:23] Yeah, there's a meaner Terminator in the movie.

[01:39:25] Yeah, but I like the cyborg.

[01:39:27] Like I don't like liquid metal stuff.

[01:39:29] He's...

[01:39:30] I'm more of an old school guy.

[01:39:31] Let me explain it this way.

[01:39:32] He's a fan of old Loncini Phantom of the Opera and you're more of a fan of the 2004 Gerard Butler Phantom of the Opera.

[01:39:43] But yeah, it's...

[01:39:44] Yeah, I really haven't made like the endoskeleton version.

[01:39:50] That's the only time that thing is terrifying.

[01:39:53] Yeah, is this movie?

[01:39:54] Yeah, no, I agree.

[01:39:55] And I think...

[01:39:56] I mean, the part where it's chasing him in the factory and stuff is really cool.

[01:40:01] Yeah.

[01:40:02] When I was younger I always thought it was cool when he gets his head crushed.

[01:40:05] Yeah.

[01:40:06] Yeah, it's a fun movie and it's awesome.

[01:40:11] It is.

[01:40:13] I'll take my James Cameron like that and Aliens.

[01:40:18] Yeah, Zach, number one.

[01:40:20] My number one was swept a long time ago.

[01:40:24] It's a Nightmare on Elm Street, West Cravens, Bob Shays, a Nightmare on Elm Street.

[01:40:29] So if I had two of the three terror titans,

[01:40:35] if I had to pick the one that scared me a second most apart from Michael, it would be Freddie.

[01:40:43] And a lot of it has to do with not just the fact that it's an actor giving a performance rather than just somebody in a suit,

[01:40:54] which is not to denigrate those who play Michael or Jason.

[01:40:58] But that prosthetic on Robert England is allowing him to command the stage.

[01:41:08] In this first film, and one of the reasons why I would always put it at number one is,

[01:41:12] Freddie is an absolute piece of shit and he is not playing an over comedian.

[01:41:19] That first moment where he kind of shows off a little bit which is,

[01:41:23] hey, Tina watched this and he sliced his fingers the way it's lit.

[01:41:27] The way his eyes look at that point because it's the first Freddie design.

[01:41:31] It's not streamlined.

[01:41:32] It's rough on around the edges.

[01:41:34] And he is absolutely terrifying.

[01:41:37] There are the imagery of different parts of his nightmare gags in this,

[01:41:42] including the stretched out arms across the alley.

[01:41:46] I know it's puppeteered.

[01:41:48] I know it looks like he's got two springs for hands.

[01:41:50] It's still very, very unnerving.

[01:41:53] It's very off kilter by design.

[01:41:59] And I think that the concept itself of you can't escape a slasher even in your dreams is not just universal,

[01:42:08] but it's also just gut wrenching that you could not escape a villain of that nature even in your sleep.

[01:42:16] And I do think that it's a testament to Craven's ability to mix light with dark in terms of the optimism versus the,

[01:42:27] you know, the despair and the terror that makes this a strong script.

[01:42:32] Frankly, you know, they shouldn't have Dakota at the end where Freddie drives him off in the Freddie car

[01:42:40] and Ronnie Blakely gets pulled through as a puppet doll or rubber blow up doll,

[01:42:45] because it would be better for Nancy to just be able to walk out.

[01:42:49] Like I want her to have a happy ending.

[01:42:53] I understand that the code is fun and it gives us those sequels,

[01:42:58] but the better ending would be for her to walk out and everything's alright

[01:43:03] because the idea of how you kill Freddie at the end of that first movie,

[01:43:07] which is I take back every bit of energy I gave you, is astounding.

[01:43:11] It's one of the best endings to a horror movie that could exist and unfortunately, Bob Shea fucked it up.

[01:43:18] Not a dig at Bob Shea, but he fucked it up.

[01:43:23] So yeah, number one, I'm Eric Armstrong.

[01:43:26] Hell of a good time.

[01:43:27] Yeah, I mean, I'll glorify, I mean, I think Terminator 2 is a better action movie and more fun.

[01:43:33] Right, but I'm better written and better acted and we're staying in a better shot.

[01:43:38] Yeah, just like Avatar the way it works.

[01:43:40] You don't say affirmative or some shit like that.

[01:43:43] You say no problemo.

[01:43:46] Yeah, but it's a great movie.

[01:43:51] I did get a list from Carol, which she says,

[01:43:58] Hello, Ryan.

[01:43:59] I mean, hello, real nerds.

[01:44:01] Thanks, Ryan, for giving me a heads up when you were scheduled to record.

[01:44:05] That made me feel wanted always because we love your list.

[01:44:09] Wow, 1984 was a long time ago before James was born.

[01:44:14] Speaking of James, we were in Michigan a few weeks ago visiting and meeting our new granddaughter,

[01:44:18] eight days old, when we arrived.

[01:44:20] We had a wonderful visit.

[01:44:23] We also visited James at work and saw how things are going.

[01:44:26] I was so happy to see some of your work, Brad.

[01:44:29] Oh, shout out, Brad.

[01:44:31] I have been working on this stuff, yeah.

[01:44:33] That made it even more fun.

[01:44:35] 1984 has several classic movies that everyone seems to know.

[01:44:39] Difficult to put them in order but here goes number 10.

[01:44:42] I'm surprises is an 11.

[01:44:44] This is Spinal Tap.

[01:44:45] These mockumentary comedies are our favorite of ours.

[01:44:48] I haven't seen it in a long time or it might have been higher on the list.

[01:44:52] I think on my letter box, Spinal Tap is my number 11.

[01:44:56] I think it's like my 12th, 13th and something like that is good.

[01:44:59] It is.

[01:45:00] Number nine, the Terminator.

[01:45:02] What can I say?

[01:45:03] I'm sure you already talked about it.

[01:45:04] I'm pretty sure you love it more than I do.

[01:45:06] Like the next one, number eight, Ghostbusters.

[01:45:09] Not much I can say here either.

[01:45:12] Number seven, Romance in the Stone, which is a really fun movie.

[01:45:17] I think of this as a heart family favorite, fun adventure, action, humor and romance.

[01:45:21] We named our Jean Wrangler, Little Mule.

[01:45:24] Yes.

[01:45:25] Why you too, Carol?

[01:45:27] Why?

[01:45:28] Number six, Star Trek III, the search for Spock.

[01:45:31] Yes, it's an odd number but it's still part of the Star Trek story.

[01:45:34] I like it better than five, the final frontier.

[01:45:37] It also sets a stage for four, The Jury Home, which is my personal favorite of the original cast.

[01:45:42] Okay, I agree.

[01:45:44] Number five, The Karate Kid.

[01:45:46] Another movie everyone knows and most people love.

[01:45:49] I agree.

[01:45:50] Number four, Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom.

[01:45:53] This is not my favorite of the indie series.

[01:45:56] James and I have had many discussions about it because he loves it and I have issues.

[01:46:00] I won't go into details here that would take too long.

[01:46:03] I will say there are parts that I love which is why it's here.

[01:46:07] Ah, number three, Footloose.

[01:46:10] This is my favorite dance movie.

[01:46:12] Love the music, the dancing and the message.

[01:46:14] And of course, The Greatest Movie of all time.

[01:46:18] With a smiley face.

[01:46:20] Number two, Starman.

[01:46:22] An alien accidentally falls to Earth in Wisconsin and takes a shape and voice of a man who recently died.

[01:46:27] He and the man's widow begin a trip across the country to meet this spaceship that is coming to pick him up.

[01:46:33] He's being hunted by those who would want to capture him.

[01:46:36] Jeff bridges his grate.

[01:46:38] Red light stop.

[01:46:39] Green light go.

[01:46:40] Yellow light go very fast.

[01:46:42] And one of our family road trips.

[01:46:46] And one of our family road trips.

[01:46:48] We visited to the crater where they filmed that ending.

[01:46:52] That was fun.

[01:46:54] We saw the very large array satellite dishes from the movie contact on the same trip.

[01:47:01] All right.

[01:47:03] Number one, Places in the Heart.

[01:47:06] See, learn something new.

[01:47:08] This is an amazing movie.

[01:47:09] The story is about a widow with two children during the Great Depression.

[01:47:13] She's desperate to save her home and is helped by a blind border and a black handyman.

[01:47:19] It is very difficult time and the culture for all of the characters on so many levels is beautifully written, acted and filmed.

[01:47:25] Sally Films, John Malcovitch and Danny Glover are all outstanding.

[01:47:28] You had me at depression and John Malcovitch.

[01:47:31] I've never even heard this.

[01:47:32] I'm going to have to watch it.

[01:47:33] I do want to watch this now.

[01:47:34] Yeah.

[01:47:35] There's an honorable mention of the Muppet Steakman hat and fuck yeah.

[01:47:39] Okay, there you have it.

[01:47:41] As always, I look forward to listening to your flists.

[01:47:43] Hope to see you soon.

[01:47:44] Love you, Carol.

[01:47:45] Thanks, Carol, as always.

[01:47:47] Starman, the forgotten carpenter film.

[01:47:50] It's one of the few carpenter films that gets an Oscar nomination.

[01:47:53] That's for sure.

[01:47:54] Good stuff.

[01:47:56] We got some comments.

[01:47:59] Cool, go for it.

[01:48:00] Zach Thomas from Art Face Studios said that 1984 has a ton of classics.

[01:48:06] But if he had to pick

[01:48:08] the never-ending story, Ghostbusters and Spinal Tap.

[01:48:12] Nice.

[01:48:13] And then Alex Weimer, the Ghost of Weimer, is excited about 1984.

[01:48:20] He gave us 12, starting with Grace Stoke, the Legend of Tarzan.

[01:48:24] Oh, shit.

[01:48:25] I've seen that movie in forever.

[01:48:27] Number 11, DreamScape.

[01:48:29] Number 10, Transers.

[01:48:31] Number 9, Johnny Dangerously, which I'm surprised isn't on like Kino or Shout.

[01:48:36] Yeah, that is crazy.

[01:48:37] Yeah.

[01:48:38] Number 8, The Last Starfighter.

[01:48:41] Instead of for a lot of good clerks, animated series jokes.

[01:48:44] Holy crap.

[01:48:45] Randall's gonna be a starfighter.

[01:48:48] No.

[01:48:49] If you remember the game, it was to build blocks essentially.

[01:48:52] Number 7, 2010, which is the sequel to 2001.

[01:48:56] Let's see.

[01:48:57] You're made contact, baby.

[01:48:58] Yeah.

[01:48:59] What did I say at that one?

[01:49:01] Number 6, City Heat.

[01:49:03] Number 5, Red Dawn.

[01:49:04] City Heat's, Eastwood and Reynolds.

[01:49:07] Yeah, that's a fine movie.

[01:49:10] Yeah, Red Dawn, November 5th, for Repo Man.

[01:49:13] Oh wow.

[01:49:14] Javit scene.

[01:49:15] I'd seen that in a while.

[01:49:16] Three top secret.

[01:49:17] Oh, fuck yes.

[01:49:19] Two Terminator.

[01:49:21] Nice.

[01:49:22] And number one, Starman.

[01:49:24] Wow.

[01:49:25] Anything else?

[01:49:27] Oh no, it's all I got.

[01:49:29] Well, lie down in the comments and fill this.

[01:49:31] Yeah.

[01:49:33] I thought we'd get a lot.

[01:49:35] 1984 is quite the year.

[01:49:37] I know.

[01:49:38] A lot of the classics here.

[01:49:39] And again, one of our shortest films ever

[01:49:42] because we all had sort of consensus on...

[01:49:45] Yeah.

[01:49:46] Like I had to...

[01:49:47] The fewest trailers I think I had to look for.

[01:49:49] Wow.

[01:49:50] Because we only had like, I don't know, three different ones.

[01:49:52] I'll be curious to see how the next one...

[01:49:56] 1994.

[01:49:57] 1994, which by the way, which do you prefer Jedi or Empire Strikes Back?

[01:50:02] Empire.

[01:50:03] Blasphemy.

[01:50:04] Empire had the bad rid.

[01:50:07] Yeah, that'll be on the list.

[01:50:09] Oh, I'm sure it'll be on all our lists.

[01:50:11] Oh, fuck if it isn't.

[01:50:13] Thank God James isn't here.

[01:50:14] I'm going to watch the Albu in two weeks.

[01:50:16] You know you're fucking lucky bastard.

[01:50:20] Thanks for listening.

[01:50:22] Yeah, we've already talked about our next retro film explosion is 1994.

[01:50:25] Hey, do you know what they call it?

[01:50:26] Film explosion in Paris?

[01:50:28] Laugh in for those ones?

[01:50:30] Laugh in the explosion.

[01:50:33] It's legal to carry.

[01:50:36] Sorry, I'm going to triple it.

[01:50:39] So yeah, I've started thinking about that.

[01:50:42] Next week, I think we're...

[01:50:45] I don't know what our film of the week is going to be.

[01:50:47] And Frost kept wondering what film was that going to be next week?

[01:50:50] Civil War comes out.

[01:50:51] Yeah, probably Civil War.

[01:50:53] I made another Captain America movie.

[01:50:56] I wish it was Captain America's Civil War.

[01:50:58] I wanted to watch that.

[01:51:01] Yeah.

[01:51:04] Or maybe what's that vampire ballerina movie?

[01:51:07] I think that comes out too.

[01:51:09] Just because...

[01:51:11] I really do it because Karino expects us to do the big mainstream ones.

[01:51:17] I'm just going to put some random horror film in here just because...

[01:51:21] He's probably expecting it because we usually do the mainstream movie.

[01:51:24] We do.

[01:51:26] But yeah, thanks for the list.

[01:51:28] Thanks for listening and we will see you at the movies.

[01:51:31] We'll see you in 1994.

[01:51:33] You waited over here.

[01:51:37] You opened the doors to Johnson.

[01:51:39] I'm telling you all wins a film's version.

[01:51:42] Film's version!
