[00:01:17] This is Reel Nerds Podcast and we are the Best Movie Podcast in all the Internet.

[00:01:24] I am Ryan joined by Brad.

[00:01:27] The Best Movie Podcast without a website right now?

[00:01:30] Well, yeah. It'll get fixed. I have faith in you.

[00:01:35] It's like I don't have the time to do it but there's no other way to do it at this point

[00:01:39] unless you want to spend a ton of money which I don't.

[00:01:42] What is a ton of money?

[00:01:44] Like $300.

[00:01:46] Oh, fuck that is a ton of money.

[00:01:48] Yeah.

[00:01:49] You know, once I sell my house and buy a new house it asks me that.

[00:01:54] Yeah.

[00:01:55] No, I think it's just the cheap affordable ways for me to go back through all 700 plus episodes

[00:02:03] and reformat them to a new theme. So RIP me.

[00:02:10] Yeah, that sounds horrible. Well, better get going on it.

[00:02:14] Especially since I've already done it twice in the history of our...

[00:02:18] And obviously we have more episodes since we lasted this in 2018.

[00:02:22] So yeah, it's a...

[00:02:24] Yeah, I went on the site. The site is different now.

[00:02:28] Yeah. I bought a new theme earlier this year to use on my own website

[00:02:33] and so it has unlimited usage so I just copied that to ours.

[00:02:40] So like in a WordPress everything's formatted as a post.

[00:02:44] Obviously you make posts but the episodes are formatted as episodes

[00:02:48] and the base theme doesn't recognize episodes.

[00:02:52] It doesn't know how to put them on the website like they're there.

[00:02:56] They haven't gone anywhere but it doesn't know how to display them.

[00:02:57] So I have to either have to buy a yearly membership to this thing that'll do it

[00:03:03] or I go and turn them into posts.

[00:03:08] So yeah.

[00:03:09] Well, you know what? When it's all nice and looks good, I'll let everybody know.

[00:03:15] It sucks like all that architecture is like turning behind a paywall.

[00:03:20] Like the thing that builds it element or when we got it had like all these options

[00:03:23] and now they're getting stingy and being like,

[00:03:25] well episode post display that's a paper usage thing.

[00:03:32] Like used to be part of the package but now you got to pay an extra fee for that one.

[00:03:37] Oh yeah. It's everything now. It sucks.

[00:03:40] I mean it truly sucks.

[00:03:42] Sorry you guys don't know how to make money anymore other than like ruining your stuff.

[00:03:48] Yeah.

[00:03:51] Anyway.

[00:03:51] Yeah. But you can still access some of our stuff. We'll fix it.

[00:03:55] We just don't have a huge team working. We have one do.

[00:03:59] Yeah.

[00:04:00] All because every time like someone writes new code, like WordPress code changes

[00:04:05] and then all the themes have to update it and like it's either wait for the guys

[00:04:09] who made our theme to like catch up which could be never.

[00:04:13] Like they could just like not develop it anymore or we redo it which I'm just like

[00:04:18] we'll redo it I guess.

[00:04:21] Yeah. Whatever you think because I don't know how to do anything.

[00:04:26] This week on Real Nerds podcast we saw this 430 movie.

[00:04:31] Stay tuned. We'll recommend the film or not play the trailer then spoil the film.

[00:04:34] We also talk about movies we watched throughout the week and movie news

[00:04:39] if there is an ad or remember any but I do want to touch on something that I got to do

[00:04:44] that was really cool Brad and because you were busy with 40 hour film project.

[00:04:50] Yeah I didn't think I would be as busy so yeah I kind of dropped the ball

[00:04:54] on helping you out.

[00:04:55] Yeah you freaking asshole.

[00:04:58] Yeah.

[00:04:59] Yeah that was a busy weekend like everyone had something going on

[00:05:02] that was something we needed to do and I was like I guess Ryan seasoned enough

[00:05:08] in this endeavor to do this by himself with Zach.

[00:05:12] Yeah well the only problem was so yeah big shout out to Zach who helped me

[00:05:17] is I didn't know I was doing actual interviews.

[00:05:20] Yeah.

[00:05:22] Because I mean so Colorado Festival 4 was this weekend and I applied for a media

[00:05:29] pass because Smurf who runs it said we should and I thought it'd be cool to go

[00:05:33] see it you know I don't have a problem with that and post things on

[00:05:36] Facebook Instagram threads act whatever I need to do you know that's I'm

[00:05:42] totally cool with that.

[00:05:43] I wanted to do that yeah.

[00:05:45] And then about three days before the con and I know this because I had to go

[00:05:51] ask the chief of police I mean my boss if I was a police officer I had to go

[00:05:55] ask my boss if it's cool take off Friday because I got pegged to

[00:06:02] interview like people that I really actually really like I got to interview

[00:06:08] the two original final girls from Friday the 13th Adrian King and Amy

[00:06:13] still which you can see on our website because and I didn't know till the day

[00:06:19] before so I ended up being able to go I you were busy with your 40 hour

[00:06:27] film project they needed someone who could use an SD card and like be there

[00:06:34] with me and I'm like fuck I have to do this interview I can't do both.

[00:06:41] So I asked Zach and Zach said he was free to help for a little bit.

[00:06:47] So he met me there and the interviews were at 10 in the morning that's

[00:06:52] super early on a Friday.

[00:06:56] So I got to interview those two ladies who by the way are wonderful and you

[00:06:59] can actually see that interview right now on Facebook because our website is

[00:07:03] wonky but we posted on Facebook really fast after Zach edited it because

[00:07:09] the guy who was supposed to do their AV for the con got covid so they had

[00:07:14] nobody and so Zach films also filmed a different angle on his iPhone

[00:07:23] and he cut it with the static camera that they set up.

[00:07:29] So I interviewed those two ladies I also interviewed Tom McGaugh McLaughlin

[00:07:34] and Tom Matthews the director and writer and star of my favorite Friday

[00:07:39] the 13th Jason lives.

[00:07:43] And I also interviewed author named Stephen Graham Jones who wrote

[00:07:51] several horror novels and a lot of them are based on Native American

[00:07:56] folklore and he wrote a comic book.

[00:08:01] It was really fun it was hard because I only had 15 minutes to talk to

[00:08:06] two people and it's really hard to ask deep questions when you only

[00:08:13] have 15 minutes and there's two people so I kind of stuck to

[00:08:17] what I knew that Amy Steele and Adrian King were so nice.

[00:08:23] They said I asked really great questions.

[00:08:26] The Tom's interview went really well but surprisingly the interview

[00:08:32] that was the most fascinating was the author and I had not read

[00:08:36] any of his books but I happened to pick up one of his books randomly

[00:08:40] at Barnes and Noble last week and didn't even know it.

[00:08:45] That's crazy.

[00:08:47] Yeah because he wrote this book I was a teenage slasher and so I

[00:08:52] was at Barnes and Noble and they had a signed copy and I read the

[00:08:56] back of it and I said oh this sounds pretty interesting I'll get it

[00:08:58] and yeah so I ended up interviewing him but he was really fascinating

[00:09:04] to talk to we had a really good interview and yeah I thought

[00:09:09] it went really well the con was really fun.

[00:09:13] Zach Bynes did a really funny panel with Tiffany Shepis.

[00:09:19] It was just really fun as fun to talk to him and you know because

[00:09:25] he and we talked about how he bailed you out in your previous

[00:09:28] 40 hour film project and he said it he surprised that it

[00:09:34] turned out how it did so good job Brad.

[00:09:38] Surprise good surprise but it turned out like shit.

[00:09:41] No good because you know it's one of those things where he said

[00:09:45] you know we were trying to do something at the last second and

[00:09:47] I hope I helped and I he says I thought it turned out pretty

[00:09:50] well so so yeah it was just kind of funny because I heard

[00:09:54] your side of it and then hearing his side when I was at

[00:09:57] the con all positive he just because I just was curious

[00:10:02] how he pulled it off so yeah there's lots of fun

[00:10:06] thanks to Smurf because that was the last second thing of me

[00:10:10] actually doing interviews but it was worth it because I got

[00:10:14] to interview really fun people and they were all wonderful

[00:10:18] and the con was pretty cool pretty is nice because it was

[00:10:22] a little more intimate than the cons were used to and we

[00:10:24] didn't have a table so I didn't have to feel like I had

[00:10:27] to be on the whole time. Yeah which was nice so yeah

[00:10:33] that's it I miss doing cons like that yeah it was nice

[00:10:38] because then I also you know I didn't have to stay the

[00:10:40] whole time I was able to take pictures go to a panel that

[00:10:44] I went and had lunch then I'd come back and yeah and no

[00:10:48] one said anything everyone was really nice and yeah

[00:10:53] that's my experience this week on Real News podcast we saw

[00:11:01] the 430 movie Brad do you recommend the 430 movie.

[00:11:08] Gosh not really it was a pretty boring for me I mean

[00:11:15] it's one of the best looking Kevin Smith films I've

[00:11:17] ever seen and I love their recreation of the 80s time

[00:11:21] period but no one was saying anything that I cared about

[00:11:27] so and nothing I mean it's really just like he recreated

[00:11:32] period in his life and like he gets to just enjoy that he

[00:11:36] recreated it so I'm not sure what I was to get out of

[00:11:40] it but yeah would you think. Yeah I'm kind of in the

[00:11:44] same boat like it wasn't a it wasn't a bad movie but

[00:11:51] the actors in it to me and this just is my opinion of

[00:11:55] the lead actors is they didn't have and I think Kevin

[00:11:59] Smith even played a little safe yeah and they weren't

[00:12:04] as engaging as Brody or Randall you know what I mean

[00:12:10] oh yeah I just didn't get that and this is the

[00:12:17] problem I think sometimes with Kevin Smith movies is he

[00:12:22] keeps on casting his daughter's boyfriend and as the

[00:12:25] lead and I have nothing against the guy but he's fine

[00:12:29] but he's just not a lead material you know he's not

[00:12:34] he's not he doesn't command the screen like Jason Lee

[00:12:37] did in Mallrats yeah well this time he's basically

[00:12:41] Kevin Smith so it's like I wouldn't even say like

[00:12:44] Kevin Smith is like a lead character yeah exactly um yeah

[00:12:50] so I'm a little conflict on this one it's not bad it just

[00:12:53] exists here's the trailer for the 430 movie she is

[00:12:59] unlike any nun you've ever met and she's got a secret

[00:13:03] how come the nuns were never secret hookers when we

[00:13:06] are in school let's see what's under that wig

[00:13:08] oh hell no say a prayer for sister sugar walls

[00:13:15] well we've definitely seen that

[00:13:22] May 25th 1986 today is a big day

[00:13:26] last summer I was too scared to ask out Melody Barnaget

[00:13:29] the raddest woman I ever met but this morning

[00:13:32] I invited her to movies and she said okay seriously

[00:13:35] hold on one second I'll see you at the 430 movie

[00:13:46] I'll see you at the 430 movie

[00:13:49] holy shit Billy I don't want to go out wedding

[00:13:52] I've been thinking about asking Melody out all year

[00:13:54] we made out in her pool last summer one time

[00:13:57] with your shirt on and you wonder why you don't get laid

[00:14:01] I don't get laid cause I'm Catholic

[00:14:08] we'll save seats you get snacks

[00:14:10] you can't get them cut seas when they go back

[00:14:12] I'll tell my dad don't care what you tell your dad

[00:14:14] a little kid dad he showed me his privates

[00:14:17] he said what?

[00:14:18] you disgust me

[00:14:21] you three students are banned for life

[00:14:23] fuck what we left not today

[00:14:25] so much drama

[00:14:27] I thought we're supposed to be seeing a comedy

[00:14:34] what the damn hell

[00:14:35] what about me

[00:14:36] I'm just rice

[00:14:38] most people come to movies to escape their lives

[00:14:40] but people like you come here because movies make life make sense

[00:14:44] you're the coolest girl I've ever met

[00:14:46] and all I want to do is watch Boofies with you

[00:14:48] is that so?

[00:14:49] mom what the hell are you doing sneaking into our rated movies

[00:14:52] you're in trouble missy

[00:14:53] I'm terrified by what's about to happen

[00:14:55] what do you want to do

[00:14:56] have sex and get pregnant

[00:14:58] that'll show her

[00:14:59] but that's what you need

[00:15:04] remember Rocky 4

[00:15:05] when he just like punched him so hard

[00:15:09] hammered at

[00:15:10] he's a climax

[00:15:11] he climaxed

[00:15:12] the 430 movie involves this guy named Brian David

[00:15:19] who asks out this girl

[00:15:21] that he fooled around with in the pool

[00:15:24] the summer earlier

[00:15:26] to the 430 movie of this

[00:15:28] I guess it's supposed to be like fletch

[00:15:31] is what I got from the poster

[00:15:34] and it's rated R so they have to sneak in

[00:15:36] and he has a friend named Belly

[00:15:39] and Bruni

[00:15:42] and they go see movies all the time

[00:15:45] and this movie theater's manager

[00:15:48] played by Ken Jeong is an asshole

[00:15:51] and he runs it

[00:15:53] and it's just basically like they're meeting

[00:15:55] random characters at this movie theater

[00:16:02] and I don't know man

[00:16:04] it seemed too safe for me

[00:16:07] you know

[00:16:08] well it's the

[00:16:09] I've heard this story on his podcast of like

[00:16:13] his time at the Atlantic Highlands Theater

[00:16:17] famously ditching his pizza job

[00:16:19] to go see Batman

[00:16:21] and stuff and yeah this very much feels like

[00:16:26] that story just like

[00:16:27] hey I did it I recreated

[00:16:30] it's experience in my life

[00:16:32] but there's no analysis of it

[00:16:34] in the movie

[00:16:35] it's like it just happens

[00:16:37] I guess there's the push and pull

[00:16:40] of him and his two friends

[00:16:43] obviously they're Ernie O'Donnell and

[00:16:45] Bellicose

[00:16:48] it's like the name's changed

[00:16:49] but yeah there's a really quickly

[00:16:52] fractured friendship because

[00:16:56] one guy's into girls a lot

[00:16:59] and the other guy's just playing it safe

[00:17:01] and he's ready to marry this girl

[00:17:04] I know

[00:17:05] who's he's had a crush on for a year

[00:17:07] and finally asked her out again

[00:17:08] but like yeah it's all stuff I've heard on the podcast

[00:17:10] and it's like I'm just watching it

[00:17:12] but there's no like

[00:17:14] you know cool vignettes like in clerks

[00:17:16] of just like heightened things happening

[00:17:18] or you know there's no

[00:17:20] like no real strong heartfelt stuff

[00:17:22] like in chasing Amy you know

[00:17:24] yeah and like I said he seemed to play it

[00:17:26] safe

[00:17:27] there was no

[00:17:29] there wasn't a character like Brody

[00:17:31] I think the Bruni guy was supposed

[00:17:33] to be like it

[00:17:34] yeah the wackiest thing is

[00:17:36] Ken Jong the theater owner

[00:17:38] who just seems like he's in probably the whole time

[00:17:40] yeah I think the person that

[00:17:45] I thought was the funniest

[00:17:46] was Justin Long's character

[00:17:49] yeah Stank

[00:17:51] was his name Stank

[00:17:53] yeah I think so

[00:17:54] he was just weird

[00:17:56] and I really liked it

[00:17:59] because that's when I started getting into it

[00:18:01] okay if he just meets heightened

[00:18:03] versions of people he knows

[00:18:05] then I'm totally down with this movie

[00:18:07] but then it just seemed to

[00:18:10] just

[00:18:11] waddle through

[00:18:13] you know and there wasn't

[00:18:15] the vocabulary wasn't as biting

[00:18:17] and it

[00:18:19] you know

[00:18:21] I think back to

[00:18:23] Maul Rats where Brody's

[00:18:25] saying that kid is back

[00:18:27] on the escalator again

[00:18:29] there's no urgency

[00:18:31] to the movie

[00:18:33] it's just we're

[00:18:35] hanging out and

[00:18:37] I'm sure all those kids are fine people

[00:18:40] but they just

[00:18:41] didn't grab me like

[00:18:43] characters in his earlier films

[00:18:45] yeah like I said no one's saying anything terribly

[00:18:47] interesting like there's no

[00:18:48] you know there's no Randall talking about the Death Star type stuff

[00:18:51] it's just literally

[00:18:53] hey we gotta go watch these movies

[00:18:55] and like we gotta figure out

[00:18:57] uh

[00:18:58] like

[00:18:58] like Bellicose

[00:19:02] or Belly

[00:19:03] gets stuck outside and has to go through the back

[00:19:05] to get in

[00:19:08] there's like an usher

[00:19:09] that has a lot of wisdom

[00:19:14] basically the silent bob

[00:19:16] part happens

[00:19:17] like the monologue

[00:19:21] yeah and the theater

[00:19:22] owner's like a movie buff

[00:19:24] but yeah he's a dick

[00:19:25] and like there's always calls from his mom

[00:19:28] like directly to the theater

[00:19:30] that he's never worked at

[00:19:32] yeah

[00:19:35] yeah I don't know

[00:19:36] and then and Jason Lee shows up as

[00:19:38] his dad it's just like they're in there because like oh I

[00:19:40] want to have like my mom and dad represented

[00:19:41] in this time period you know

[00:19:43] yeah and the I mean

[00:19:45] really the only line that I laughed

[00:19:48] out loud at was

[00:19:49] Sam Richardson where he's like

[00:19:51] I'm gonna storm their cheeks like Omaha Beach

[00:19:54] and that was really funny

[00:19:56] um yeah there's like a Mr

[00:19:58] uh

[00:19:59] yeah I guess like a Mr T sergeant slaughter

[00:20:02] mashup going on with that

[00:20:03] like major murder

[00:20:06] a bit

[00:20:07] and that's only in there because like

[00:20:09] I forget the other friends that they're a new

[00:20:11] Donald friend like has to have some

[00:20:14] sage give him advice

[00:20:16] I don't know what's going on it's like okay

[00:20:18] that's random

[00:20:19] it wasn't like red man in it early on

[00:20:21] like on the docs and you're just like oh this is probably

[00:20:23] gonna come back later nope

[00:20:25] this is another cameo

[00:20:27] talking about ET um

[00:20:29] yeah it's just

[00:20:31] and that Austin

[00:20:33] the Geer guy whatever his name

[00:20:35] is

[00:20:36] he doesn't have the gravitas

[00:20:39] to carry a film

[00:20:41] he's not Ben Affleck in chasing

[00:20:43] Amy or dogma

[00:20:46] you know

[00:20:47] I buy him as like a 17 year old

[00:20:49] Kevin Smith though

[00:20:51] yeah but like if you ever listen to like

[00:20:53] uh when Kevin Smith does the like

[00:20:55] like he would read his old

[00:20:57] uh like play his old

[00:20:59] cassette tapes of him like just

[00:21:01] like his journal I guess or something

[00:21:04] like that's very much what he feels

[00:21:05] like

[00:21:07] yeah

[00:21:09] but yeah yeah it's just

[00:21:12] huh

[00:21:13] it's yeah it's not interesting stuff

[00:21:15] yeah and that like it's

[00:21:17] again it's not a bad movie

[00:21:19] and I think the music by

[00:21:20] Bear McCrary through is really good

[00:21:23] um it fits the theme really well

[00:21:26] uh

[00:21:27] but I just wanted to be more and that

[00:21:29] movie trailers are showing beforehand

[00:21:31] just weren't that interesting

[00:21:33] and then um

[00:21:35] yeah you got DJ Kater as the

[00:21:37] yeah the beaver slayer

[00:21:39] or something yeah just it just wore out

[00:21:41] as welcome so fast yeah

[00:21:43] it's so like green screen for one thing

[00:21:45] like on a soundstage but yeah

[00:21:47] like the the none one was even better

[00:21:49] but yeah I actually passed

[00:21:51] out during it so I missed Jason

[00:21:53] Musen it

[00:21:54] that one is still just okay too

[00:21:57] because it did fit in

[00:21:59] because it takes place in 86

[00:22:01] and I definitely had a 1970s

[00:22:04] sexploitation vibe

[00:22:05] to it

[00:22:07] um so I don't know

[00:22:09] yeah I it would be more fun if it was

[00:22:11] like a mall rats in a theater type

[00:22:13] yeah yeah and then there's also like the

[00:22:15] emo usher

[00:22:17] which is like

[00:22:19] okay

[00:22:21] yep I can't remember what he said

[00:22:24] yeah well he was

[00:22:25] talking about you know and they kept on doing

[00:22:27] a thing like they're never gonna make

[00:22:29] what you know watch episodes one two and three

[00:22:32] it's supposed to be

[00:22:33] these lines where you're going oh they're

[00:22:35] doing it you don't even know what

[00:22:37] you're saying is they're eventually gonna do

[00:22:39] yeah and I just I don't know

[00:22:42] and I don't know

[00:22:45] I like that he did go back

[00:22:47] to that kind of movie

[00:22:48] so I'm hoping his next movie will build on it

[00:22:51] and be better

[00:22:52] yeah and the 430 movie isn't even like the movie

[00:22:55] like eventually things go

[00:22:56] awry and they have to go to the 7 o'clock movie

[00:22:59] and then they don't even see that one either

[00:23:00] yeah I really wanted them to see

[00:23:03] I really want to see the some thing from

[00:23:05] dentist school because I thought that sounded funny

[00:23:08] yeah

[00:23:09] that poster yeah

[00:23:11] yeah that's

[00:23:12] I think his style would have fit better

[00:23:15] for just like a day in like a theater

[00:23:17] like

[00:23:19] them trying to see this movie

[00:23:20] and they just keep getting stopped from doing it

[00:23:24] but yeah it doesn't really

[00:23:25] happen it just yeah

[00:23:27] a lot of just those three dudes hanging out

[00:23:29] and I don't remember what they talked about

[00:23:31] it wasn't that interesting

[00:23:33] but it looked

[00:23:37] really good like the cinematography was

[00:23:38] like way better than

[00:23:40] that was the last one

[00:23:42] even clerks 3 I thought

[00:23:45] yeah I thought

[00:23:46] there's some moments in the film that work well

[00:23:48] I like

[00:23:50] his last little bit with her at the end

[00:23:52] even though it's a little cheesy

[00:23:53] I still liked it

[00:23:55] it was cute but it was like anti-climactic

[00:23:58] like yeah

[00:24:00] yeah I thought there's like something else

[00:24:02] was gonna happen but yeah it just ended there

[00:24:04] and I was like okay

[00:24:05] and then the

[00:24:06] post-credits thing was fun

[00:24:07] but feels like

[00:24:10] set up for like you know another movie

[00:24:12] which I don't think there would be one

[00:24:14] no my favorite part about

[00:24:16] did you read the credits

[00:24:18] maybe

[00:24:19] there's this great part at the end where it says

[00:24:22] come see

[00:24:25] movies at

[00:24:26] what's the name of his theater

[00:24:28] a smart castle of cinemas yeah

[00:24:30] yeah smart cast cinemas

[00:24:31] and it's cool if you think around

[00:24:33] and see other films

[00:24:35] if you get caught say Kev says it's cool

[00:24:37] yeah so I like that

[00:24:39] that was pretty cool

[00:24:42] yeah

[00:24:43] I mean it's harmless I just wish it was a little more

[00:24:45] biting and had a little more

[00:24:47] oomph to it

[00:24:50] yeah cool

[00:24:54] I'm trying to think

[00:24:55] I don't remember any news this week

[00:24:57] am I missing anything

[00:24:59] not that I can remember

[00:25:00] I mean James Earl Jones died

[00:25:02] that is true

[00:25:04] that's kind of you know

[00:25:05] he had such a cool voice

[00:25:09] iconic

[00:25:11] oh yeah it's

[00:25:13] it's so commanding

[00:25:15] and but even it could

[00:25:16] power on your heartstrings you know when he's infilled

[00:25:18] to dreams or even the sandlot

[00:25:21] um

[00:25:22] he's one of those actors that

[00:25:24] you close your eyes

[00:25:25] you know instantly who he is

[00:25:28] and

[00:25:29] um and what a body of work

[00:25:31] I mean I watched a tribute to him on

[00:25:34] he was on T.C.M.

[00:25:36] and they talked about

[00:25:37] you know his stage work too

[00:25:39] super impressive

[00:25:42] definitely

[00:25:43] a legend and an icon

[00:25:45] that you know he was

[00:25:48] 93 so and his body of work

[00:25:51] was so incredible

[00:25:53] that he obviously

[00:25:55] will live forever

[00:25:56] well literally he sold his voice

[00:25:58] to like AI so

[00:26:00] oh did he

[00:26:00] they can mine

[00:26:03] so that Disney can make Darth Vader stuff

[00:26:05] so he's like yeah I'll sell my

[00:26:07] so they you know had him read a bunch of things

[00:26:10] and put it in the AI generator

[00:26:11] and now can like pump out Vader as much as they want

[00:26:14] oh cool as long as he

[00:26:15] okayed it then I'm fine with it

[00:26:17] yeah I heard the okayed it

[00:26:19] that could just be like PR

[00:26:22] but I feel like he would

[00:26:23] because like yeah those residuals

[00:26:25] are good with family so

[00:26:26] yeah I mean that's the way yeah your family will always be paid

[00:26:29] and you know put your grandkids

[00:26:31] their grandkids through college

[00:26:33] why not I mean

[00:26:36] I'm one of those people that I mean I if I was

[00:26:39] famous I would okay them using my

[00:26:41] likeness and image shares

[00:26:43] all right it's only

[00:26:44] $150,000 to use to Ryan in this porn

[00:26:47] yeah yeah

[00:26:48] yes please do

[00:26:51] and then we need to spoke first

[00:26:52] and for our white supremacist rally

[00:26:54] Ryan Frost's avatar is available

[00:26:56] you know what and it ate

[00:26:58] will put his kid through college and just do it

[00:27:01] it

[00:27:02] it

[00:27:03] it

[00:27:08] right on

[00:27:09] rest in peace but

[00:27:12] watch Star Wars or something or

[00:27:13] even the Lion King tonight

[00:27:15] or Conan the Barbarian or Conan the Barbarian

[00:27:18] or filled a dreams or a stand

[00:27:20] lot

[00:27:21] or one of the Jack Ryan movies

[00:27:23] oh yeah

[00:27:27] we watch films

[00:27:29] throughout the week

[00:27:30] in a segment I call

[00:27:32] what we've been watching

[00:27:35] so uh yeah

[00:27:36] this is the stuff we've been watching

[00:27:39] Brad what you watch this week

[00:27:42] quite a bit of stuff

[00:27:43] still watching the 80s music videos

[00:27:45] but let's see

[00:27:47] new stuff I caught was uh

[00:27:48] between the temples

[00:27:51] trailer for that

[00:27:52] that's uh

[00:27:53] kind of a mumblecore movie with um

[00:27:56] Jason Schwartzman and Carol Cain

[00:27:58] um

[00:28:00] Jason Schwartzman is like one of the

[00:28:02] he's at a

[00:28:04] Jewish temple he's like the guy who does like

[00:28:06] the music

[00:28:07] like the chanting

[00:28:09] the singing type stuff

[00:28:12] um and maybe I have seen a

[00:28:14] trailer for this yeah and then Carol Cain

[00:28:16] is like his former

[00:28:18] teacher who like comes back to his life

[00:28:20] because she wants to have a bat mitzvah

[00:28:23] she never had one

[00:28:24] and so he has to

[00:28:26] train her to do it I guess

[00:28:27] I'm not an expert on Judaism

[00:28:29] so you know

[00:28:31] did my best watching this movie

[00:28:33] but it kind of uh

[00:28:35] devolved into kind of a Harold and Maude

[00:28:37] thing

[00:28:39] where uh you know he's uh

[00:28:41] sort of getting attracted to this

[00:28:44] uh I assume like 70 year old woman

[00:28:46] at this point um

[00:28:48] yeah

[00:28:50] uh yeah it's just

[00:28:51] it's like his fun dramatic piece very

[00:28:54] small just uh

[00:28:55] about these two people meeting and

[00:28:58] uh the

[00:28:59] the finale is super awkward when he

[00:29:01] confesses his love for her in the like middle

[00:29:04] of like Thanksgiving dinner

[00:29:05] and like his family's uh trying to

[00:29:08] hook him up with this other

[00:29:10] girl who's like related to the main

[00:29:12] guy um

[00:29:13] and yeah he's just not interested in her but

[00:29:15] yeah so

[00:29:17] you know this power dynamics of like marrying

[00:29:19] into it like this family so they can like

[00:29:21] yeah

[00:29:23] I don't know

[00:29:25] strengthen the church or whatever

[00:29:27] temple whatever um

[00:29:29] yeah I think it's just like

[00:29:31] if you want to like just sit in an awkward movie

[00:29:33] like that's a good one

[00:29:35] um yeah then I also watched

[00:29:37] uh my old ass

[00:29:39] uh I went to the uh

[00:29:41] a free plaza one right yeah it was

[00:29:43] the regal mystery movie

[00:29:44] of the week

[00:29:45] so uh yeah it was uh

[00:29:49] not that interesting

[00:29:51] um

[00:29:53] it's all laid out in the trailer

[00:29:55] um this younger girl

[00:29:57] gets high on mushrooms and then meets a

[00:29:59] plaza who's the older version of herself

[00:30:01] and

[00:30:02] uh

[00:30:04] even after the mushrooms she can still

[00:30:06] communicate with her through her cell phone

[00:30:09] um so she's getting like

[00:30:12] updates on what her future is like

[00:30:13] and then her future is also telling like

[00:30:15] don't

[00:30:16] you know don't fall in love with this boy because it's

[00:30:18] gonna be bad and then uh I kind of

[00:30:20] figured out early on it's either

[00:30:22] um you know he hurts her

[00:30:24] or he dies

[00:30:27] um that's why it's

[00:30:28] bad um and like

[00:30:30] like she causes his death

[00:30:32] um but it's uh pretty close to that

[00:30:34] he just you know dies and it's really tough

[00:30:36] for her to deal with and she

[00:30:38] her older self never wants her to like

[00:30:40] experience that so she tries

[00:30:42] to sabotage it by saying like just don't just avoid

[00:30:44] that guy um yeah

[00:30:46] and then yeah uh

[00:30:48] really quickly in

[00:30:50] the first couple scenes you know she

[00:30:52] she's going off to college so she's kind of like

[00:30:54] checked out of her family and then like

[00:30:55] after the phone after after meeting her old

[00:30:57] she's like really quickly like reconnects

[00:31:00] with her family like oh you know these people

[00:31:02] I'm gonna miss them and um you know they

[00:31:04] have a cranberry farm whatever that's gonna get

[00:31:06] um sold and she

[00:31:08] suddenly realizes like oh I kind of want to stay

[00:31:10] you know in this moment rather than

[00:31:12] go to the future

[00:31:14] um it's alright

[00:31:16] hmm

[00:31:19] um yeah

[00:31:20] and then the last thing I saw which was great

[00:31:22] is uh the Casablanita Mi Amor

[00:31:24] documentary. Yeah I want to see that

[00:31:26] too bad. Dude you've been getting a

[00:31:28] lot of extra chances because like I know

[00:31:30] it's been sold out so much

[00:31:32] that they keep adding shows.

[00:31:34] Is it something that'd be entertaining

[00:31:36] for Kellen? Oh yeah

[00:31:38] um because I just

[00:31:40] you know it's hard for me

[00:31:42] to find time without him

[00:31:44] and so I was thinking if I

[00:31:46] could take him is it fun

[00:31:48] enough for him? Oh yeah it's fun like

[00:31:50] I think the only bad thing is like there's

[00:31:52] probably some F-bombs some language

[00:31:55] um but it's

[00:31:56] not like a surprising documentary like

[00:31:58] going into you're like oh yeah these guys

[00:32:00] bought it and then found out that

[00:32:02] it sucks and they spent way more money

[00:32:04] to renovate it

[00:32:05] you know then

[00:32:08] smartly to do so

[00:32:10] it's like a renovation

[00:32:11] documentary really. Yeah it's like a kitchen

[00:32:14] nightmares documentary

[00:32:16] um so yeah like you

[00:32:18] get to see some

[00:32:20] early 70s like behind

[00:32:22] the scenes of it and it's really bolstered

[00:32:24] by the fact that like you know Trey Parker

[00:32:26] and Matt Soner in it and

[00:32:27] more Trey than Matt

[00:32:29] um but like you know

[00:32:31] Trey jokes about all the horrible stuff that's going on

[00:32:33] you know um

[00:32:35] so

[00:32:37] making light of the situation

[00:32:39] but yeah. You burned my kid to bits

[00:32:41] Yeah it's fun like

[00:32:43] you know like yeah kind of

[00:32:47] you get to see like really deep

[00:32:49] inside how problematic

[00:32:51] the structure was

[00:32:52] like it probably should have been torn down but

[00:32:54] thankfully they love it so much that they spent

[00:32:57] like four times

[00:32:59] what they paid for to fix it. Well you told me that

[00:33:01] uh the cool

[00:33:03] uh Blu-ray place in Colorado

[00:33:05] called the archive which has been at her syndromes

[00:33:07] is moving over there. Yeah so

[00:33:09] that's pretty cool. I know I also go to my

[00:33:11] weird theater over there at the Memento Mori gallery

[00:33:13] in that complex so that's gonna be a hop in place

[00:33:15] pretty soon. Well it's cool because

[00:33:17] it's really hard to get to the archives before

[00:33:20] now it's

[00:33:21] you know really

[00:33:23] nearby. Yeah um

[00:33:25] but yeah the document is great

[00:33:27] uh yeah

[00:33:29] definitely check it out. Yeah take Helen

[00:33:31] it's harmless. Cool

[00:33:33] Well uh when I tell you what I watched this

[00:33:35] week it's gonna be

[00:33:37] super harmless um

[00:33:39] Helen has been

[00:33:41] there's this game that he's been playing

[00:33:43] on this platform called dreams that's

[00:33:45] on PlayStation where

[00:33:47] it's like Super Mario maker but

[00:33:49] you're not confined to Mario games

[00:33:52] you can just really make any game you want

[00:33:54] um and this game that he's been playing is called

[00:33:57] slashers where some guy

[00:34:00] um created

[00:34:00] all these slashers in it

[00:34:03] and so he wanted to watch a movie with one of them

[00:34:06] so I I showed him

[00:34:08] uh Friday the 13th part 7

[00:34:10] um which

[00:34:12] I said you know this one's not too scary because

[00:34:14] they telegraph everything Jason's doing

[00:34:15] and but then I forgot there's

[00:34:18] tons of nudity in it

[00:34:20] uh like tons of

[00:34:22] big stradget there's like three or four

[00:34:24] moments but it's a telepathy one right?

[00:34:27] Yeah so I was like you know what

[00:34:29] fuck it who cares

[00:34:30] and he watched it and he liked it

[00:34:32] so

[00:34:33] and he told me he wasn't scared and um

[00:34:36] he every time boobs came on the screen

[00:34:38] he just went boobs

[00:34:39] so you know whatever what are you gonna do

[00:34:41] so that's like his dad

[00:34:44] yeah so you know

[00:34:45] uh

[00:34:46] you know as long as it's not

[00:34:49] yeah

[00:34:52] there's dead pigeons on the roof that's like

[00:34:55] the

[00:34:56] most death in the movie yeah

[00:34:57] so yeah so yeah so Friday 13th

[00:34:59] part 7 is fun it's not

[00:35:01] the best it's not the worst

[00:35:03] Jason looks the coolest in it so that's why

[00:35:05] it's always has a place on my

[00:35:07] list of all watch it you know

[00:35:10] um

[00:35:11] and the uh the only other thing I

[00:35:13] watched is I finally

[00:35:16] got my steel book

[00:35:17] of late night with the devil

[00:35:20] um which I hadn't

[00:35:21] seen and the steel book

[00:35:23] came out like two weeks ago and for

[00:35:25] some reason they just kept

[00:35:27] on getting delayed being shipped to me

[00:35:30] um

[00:35:31] and on my order on

[00:35:33] Amazon it kept saying that we don't

[00:35:35] know when this is gonna be back in stock

[00:35:37] and I was like fuck because usually I

[00:35:39] pre-order them right away so I get

[00:35:41] them and then

[00:35:43] when one random day I got a text from

[00:35:45] Amazon saying it's gonna arrive tomorrow

[00:35:47] so um

[00:35:49] so yeah I got it and that movie is

[00:35:51] pretty good

[00:35:52] I like the format

[00:35:55] of it it's

[00:35:56] found footage but it's not constrained

[00:35:59] by

[00:36:00] the setup of being found footage

[00:36:03] um where usually it's some amateur

[00:36:05] person holding a camera

[00:36:07] and um

[00:36:10] you know

[00:36:11] they have to

[00:36:13] have to have some sort of

[00:36:16] caveat for them why they

[00:36:17] have a camera

[00:36:19] um

[00:36:19] and it slowly builds and it's

[00:36:22] pretty fun

[00:36:24] um and then it gets

[00:36:26] gory and

[00:36:28] um and the performance

[00:36:30] isn't it are really great

[00:36:33] uh a nice

[00:36:35] small contained movie

[00:36:37] that definitely delivers

[00:36:39] on the horror aspect and um

[00:36:40] the steelbook is awesome

[00:36:43] um it looks really cool

[00:36:44] and it comes with a bunch of I guess

[00:36:46] bunches but it comes with some swag

[00:36:48] um comes with a sticker

[00:36:50] a patch and um lobby

[00:36:52] card so

[00:36:55] it's cool that

[00:36:56] uh Lionsgate I think put it out and

[00:36:58] they usually do stuff

[00:37:00] little extra for the

[00:37:03] steelbook and the steelbook was only

[00:37:04] like 25 dollars

[00:37:06] so yeah so it

[00:37:08] is a pleasantly

[00:37:10] surprising movie I heard it was good

[00:37:12] um and when I was at Telluride

[00:37:14] in October

[00:37:15] it was always sold out so um

[00:37:18] yeah I saw it back in February in the theater

[00:37:20] and like I was on board with it until I heard about

[00:37:22] all the use of

[00:37:24] AI they had in it

[00:37:25] no I didn't know that

[00:37:27] like a lot of their like

[00:37:29] like that opening montage I guess

[00:37:32] um some like the interstitials

[00:37:33] like they just

[00:37:34] you know stole the people's work

[00:37:36] and

[00:37:37] the movie so that sucks

[00:37:40] yeah

[00:37:42] lame

[00:37:43] anyhoo

[00:37:45] otherwise would be like a pretty good movie

[00:37:50] yeah um

[00:37:52] next week

[00:37:53] we're seeing

[00:37:55] something

[00:37:58] I literally

[00:37:59] just looked at the list and

[00:38:01] yeah me too

[00:38:02] um I know

[00:38:03] next next week maybe

[00:38:06] there's like a superman documentary

[00:38:08] yeah um oh yeah so I was

[00:38:10] thinking either

[00:38:11] the substance or

[00:38:13] um Transformers 1

[00:38:16] I'd rather see the substance

[00:38:17] yeah it's on my list so let's do that

[00:38:20] cool um because I can take Calendah

[00:38:23] Transformers

[00:38:24] yeah um so yeah

[00:38:25] so next week we'll see the substance

[00:38:28] um

[00:38:28] um yeah should be fun

[00:38:33] so until next week

[00:38:35] we'll see you at the movie

[00:39:29] and that's how you fucking do it
