[00:01:37] Every week we see a new movie and we podcast our experience to the world. This week we
[00:01:43] saw Abigail. Stay tuned, we'll recommend the film or not, play the trailer, then
[00:01:48] spoil the movie. We'll also talk about the movie news of the week and things we
[00:01:53] watched throughout the week. You like movies, you came to the right place. And if
[00:01:58] you don't like movies, sit back and listen to us how funny we are. Yeah, we're
[00:02:04] gonna make you like movies. We're gonna convert you. Yeah. Were you able to put in
[00:02:11] Corinne's thing from last week? I was not. I'm gonna put them in right now so
[00:02:16] I don't forget. Good idea. Hey Nerds, Corinne here for another installment of
[00:02:21] Showtime where I talk about something cool I've been watching lately. And since
[00:02:25] it's been several weeks since I've done one of these, I'm gonna give you
[00:02:27] a rundown of just all the shows I've been watching lately. Some good, some bad,
[00:02:32] some kind of in the middle. But yeah so I went home a couple weeks ago to Kansas
[00:02:39] to see my family and ended up watching Three Body Problem with my dad on
[00:02:45] Netflix. And it was... It started off pretty good actually like it built up
[00:02:52] a lot of good mystery. And you know of course it's run by the same people
[00:02:56] who did Game of Thrones. So I was not surprised when the ending was like kind
[00:03:00] of dumb. I mean, I don't know if I'd watch a season two they'll probably get a
[00:03:05] season two. I think it was like it got enough in as far as like ratings and
[00:03:09] stuff but yeah I don't know maybe it was kind of dumb now that I think about
[00:03:14] it. It's like oh my gosh like it just kind of kept going and going and going
[00:03:18] and it was you know eight hours or it's like eight episodes each was like
[00:03:22] an hour long. And my dad and I ended up like binge watching it all in like
[00:03:26] two days so it was a lot and I don't know. I think a weekly format might have been
[00:03:32] a little bit better but anyway so yeah Three Body Problem. I mean I guess
[00:03:37] watch it if you're into like sci-fi stuff it might be of interest to you.
[00:03:40] I mean some of the concepts are really cool and I guess it's based on like
[00:03:46] a book series but yeah oh well. So then I also somehow... I mean I think I've
[00:03:54] talked about this before I'm kind of a Star Trek fan. I would not say I'm like a
[00:03:58] big fan of the franchise but you know I grew up watching The Next Generation. I
[00:04:02] grew up watching Voyager, Some Deep Space Nine, Some Enterprise like right when it
[00:04:07] first started but I haven't really watched any of the new stuff but when I
[00:04:12] was home my dad he was watching Discovery and so I ended up watching
[00:04:17] several episodes of Discovery with him all out of order by the way so we
[00:04:21] ended up watching like the end of season one and I didn't even see the beginning
[00:04:26] of season one and then we ended up watching like the last two or three
[00:04:30] episodes of season two. I mean it was good I feel now feel compelled to watch
[00:04:36] the entirety of season one and the entirety of season two even though I
[00:04:40] know all the like big twists and everything that's coming but you know
[00:04:44] there were a couple of things in there that even though I wasn't super
[00:04:47] attached to these characters and didn't really know exactly what was going on
[00:04:51] but there were some revelations in there that I was like oh what I can't believe
[00:04:55] they did that like oh I had no idea but yeah it was pretty fun and yeah I like
[00:05:02] I said I feel compelled to watch season one and season two now my dad's like
[00:05:06] season three and four I guess are not very good but I don't know and see what
[00:05:12] else so all my regular shows that are on right now the Bad Batch is still
[00:05:18] amazing as of recording this episode 13 is dropping tonight I'm super excited for
[00:05:25] it I think it's the last episode that we have trailer footage for and oh my gosh
[00:05:30] like we have three episodes left like tonight's and then the next two weeks
[00:05:34] and then it's done series finale oh my gosh I just cannot believe that we're
[00:05:39] gonna be saying goodbye to these characters potentially forever I'm
[00:05:42] sure they'll show up again in something maybe they'll get like a
[00:05:46] comic spin-off or whatever but where they'll probably pop up I'm I'm like 80%
[00:05:52] sure that there's gonna be another animated series that takes place after the
[00:05:56] Bad Batch because one of the main characters has been like disappearing
[00:06:00] and going off and doing like his own thing to like help save these other
[00:06:04] clones and so there's rumors that they might do like a clone rebellion
[00:06:08] show which would be pretty cool and if I got to see the Bad Batch characters
[00:06:13] pop up I'd be okay with that so yeah Bad Batch is great ghost is still really
[00:06:20] good there have been a couple of dud episodes in there but for the most part
[00:06:24] it's been a pretty good season we've got three episodes left till the finale
[00:06:28] season finale so very excited see what else we got Abbot elementary I I haven't
[00:06:37] been as impressed with this this short third season so far I think part of
[00:06:43] it is because the mild spoilers I guess the main character has been kind of
[00:06:48] off doing something else and so she only occasionally comes in to the school and
[00:06:53] interacts with her other you know former co-workers and some of the drama
[00:06:57] that's come from that has been I guess not my thing not my cup of tea but we
[00:07:03] have gotten some cool character dynamics with her kind of off doing
[00:07:07] her own thing we kind of get a spotlight on some of the other
[00:07:10] characters and their interactions with each other when she's gone so I'd give
[00:07:18] it like a B-minus so far like I still really enjoy the show but I haven't
[00:07:23] been nearly as excited for Abbot elementary's new episodes as I have
[00:07:28] been for ghosts new episodes yeah right now I'd say I'd go Bad Batch then
[00:07:34] goes then Abbot elementary right now of course I can change and now I have a new
[00:07:40] show in the mix because well I am a big X-man fan I've watched X-men evolution
[00:07:48] when it was on I've rewatched or watched parts of the original X-men the
[00:07:54] animated series from the 90s a couple years ago I didn't watch the whole
[00:07:59] thing I think I watched like two or three seasons it was really good show
[00:08:03] and I liked it and then now they have this X-men 97 and I haven't been
[00:08:07] watching it because I was waiting for all the episodes to be out so I could
[00:08:11] like watch all of them through and then I went over to Jerry's this weekend
[00:08:16] and he showed me all the episodes up until episode five so we watched
[00:08:21] like one through five and I was like fuck Jerry now I'm hooked I gotta
[00:08:25] watch the next episodes and it sucks because they drop at the exact
[00:08:28] same time that the bad batch does so now I'm like well shit I'm already like
[00:08:33] staying up till 1 a.m. to watch the bad batch now I gotta stay up watch like X-men
[00:08:39] 97 right afterwards because if you've seen the fifth episode of the season
[00:08:44] you know what I'm talking about when I say I have to see what happens next
[00:08:49] because that was just fucking insane yeah so now I'm hooked I'm hooked on
[00:08:56] X-men 97 I need to see what happens next yeah so I think there's maybe three
[00:09:02] episodes left I want to say that's got an eight episode season so don't have to
[00:09:07] wait too much more but golly why does everything have to be ending at the
[00:09:12] same frickin time it's like that early May timeframe like all of my shows are
[00:09:16] gonna have their season or series finalities and it's like damn it one
[00:09:22] final thing I'll touch on is I don't think I've talked about this on the show
[00:09:27] before but my friend Julie she has two little girls and they love the show
[00:09:32] bluey and every time I go over to visit them I end up watching at least a
[00:09:36] couple of episodes with them it's a really cute show I don't feel compelled
[00:09:42] to watch it without them until recently when I heard there was gonna be a
[00:09:47] special episode a 28 minute special of bluey that was premiering this last like
[00:09:54] Saturday Sunday on Disney Plus and it was gonna you know brand new 28 minute
[00:10:00] episode like all the episodes are like seven eight minutes like that's the
[00:10:04] beauty of it it's it's targeted to preschoolers like it's very much a
[00:10:07] preschooler show but I mean really anybody could watch it parent
[00:10:11] non-parent adult young young adult old adult whatever you know it's such
[00:10:16] an adorable show and I really think like this is a show that's honestly made
[00:10:21] more for parents to kind of teach them and encourage them how to be good
[00:10:25] parents than it is for kids like it is still it is definitely for kids don't
[00:10:30] don't get me wrong but I think it's kind of equally made for parents or at
[00:10:34] least with parents in mind and even though I'm not a parent I still really
[00:10:38] love how well the show is made it's just so beautiful you know the artwork
[00:10:43] and all the different characters that you get to meet and you get really
[00:10:47] attached to them like there is this one episode toward the end of I think season
[00:10:51] 3 called rusty and I think I've seen it like three times and it makes me cry
[00:10:56] every single time I'm like yeah cuz I was over visiting them a couple weeks
[00:11:03] ago and they were like let's watch rusty and I'm like no let's watch
[00:11:07] something else another one I haven't seen yet but um so I watched this new episode
[00:11:13] this new 28 minute special it's called the sign so if you've seen people on
[00:11:17] Twitter talking about it like I have and going and flipping out and talking
[00:11:22] about like how much it made them cry it's like oh my gosh it's totally valid
[00:11:26] so I guess mild spoilers for blue is the sign but the premise is that the
[00:11:33] healers that's the family name the healers are gonna be moving and so they
[00:11:37] put a for sale sign in their yard and bluey does not want to move but she kind
[00:11:43] of comes to accept like okay you know everything happens for a reason like
[00:11:48] everything's gonna work out so you know I just have to accept like we're gonna be
[00:11:51] moving and we're gonna have new adventures and then initially her
[00:11:55] younger sister bingo is like super excited she's like yeah we're gonna be
[00:11:59] selling our house woohoo but then it hits her like she didn't know what
[00:12:03] selling the house really meant she thought they were selling the house
[00:12:06] but they were just still living it she didn't realize they were gonna like move
[00:12:10] move so then when she does figure it out there's such adorable scene of her you
[00:12:17] know going outside trying to lift the sign out by herself and bluey comes out
[00:12:21] and talks to her and at this point I like paused it texted my friend Julie
[00:12:26] and I was like this is such a good episode I'm like really excited yada da
[00:12:29] and then like the ending hit and I was like fuck oh my gosh I was crying I
[00:12:35] was like damn it what'd you do to me bluey so I don't want to spoil it you should
[00:12:41] watch it for yourself it it's illicit it's some very interesting conversations
[00:12:47] with like me and my friends and other folks online about like you know what
[00:12:51] exactly is this teaching kids is this a good thing is this a bad thing like it
[00:12:55] is I think right now like the highest rated episode of bluey on IMDB it's
[00:12:59] like 9.9 or perfect 10 out of 10 so I encourage everybody please it sounds
[00:13:07] really stupid but please go watch bluey it's so adorable it's such a well-made
[00:13:13] show I know several people who are not parents who watch this because they feel
[00:13:19] like it kind of heals their inner child but it's also just like really cute and
[00:13:24] it's really well made and it has a lot of like good messages and I mean it makes
[00:13:30] me cry at least but yeah the sign so if you saw people talking about it online
[00:13:36] that's what's going on that's what's you know everybody got all emotional about
[00:13:41] the sign so yeah I recommend bluey I recommend all the shows I watch except
[00:13:47] I guess three-body problem so I actually haven't been watching a lot of anime
[00:13:52] lately and the one anime I've watched it's like really stupid all the ones I had
[00:13:58] been watching over like the winter are all done for the season so yeah it's a
[00:14:07] good the good time to be an American TV fan because oh my gosh we've got so
[00:14:12] much good stuff coming out right now so yeah between X-Men 97 Bad Batch you
[00:14:17] know ghosts and I have an elementary like there's plenty of great stuff on TV right
[00:14:23] now so highly recommend everybody check it out all right I'm gonna check off now
[00:14:27] I'm sure the nerds are gonna be going to see the fall guy next weekend I will
[00:14:33] be going to see something else so maybe check in with you guys about that
[00:14:37] next time so until then keep it real nerds bye oh Corinne so that's what
[00:14:45] Corinne's been watching lately yep she was really disappointed that we didn't
[00:14:51] pick some anime that came out last week instead of Spider-Man from 2002 what
[00:14:56] anime came out the one that you got mad at me for cuz you're not supposed to
[00:15:00] say by X family but I don't understand why the X is there if you're not
[00:15:04] supposed to say it Godville X Kong I mean everyone's doing it yeah so I mean
[00:15:11] I don't think she's responded to me why you don't say the X or how you're
[00:15:13] supposed to pronounce it so I'm gonna say it's the X family sounds like a plan
[00:15:19] I'm gonna look it up find out what like what this is all about cuz it's gonna
[00:15:22] it's just gonna keep happening true and also hey Brad you know that you're
[00:15:26] going to Wyoming this weekend I know all by myself yeah so I mean you won't
[00:15:34] get the charisma of normal real nerds podcast but Brad will be there are
[00:15:40] we handing out stickers and the buttons are you saving the buttons for fan
[00:15:44] expo we have only 30 buttons so I'm gonna save those for fan expo since that's
[00:15:49] gonna be the pizza but you know we've got old merch and stickers I can you
[00:15:54] know hand out there and I might do an interview if you know feel like it so
[00:15:59] it'll be it'll be a terrible interview because you won't be there but hey
[00:16:03] I know hey you know what I think it'll be alright I have faith in you Wyoming do
[00:16:09] me a favor and just visit the booth and take a sticker don't ask for an
[00:16:12] interview well Brad this is how you relate to him you said did you see that
[00:16:17] movie and did you also see that sheep out in the field you know relate to them
[00:16:24] that way it is a I guess the con is at a mall so it's Eastridge mall so
[00:16:34] that's interesting it's not like a convention center or a hotel so yeah
[00:16:38] maybe you can just put you'll be back in 15 minutes and go shopping or
[00:16:42] something I don't know yeah that would be fun see what kind of like hopefully it's
[00:16:50] like an old you know 80s mall that has like a Sam Goody in it or something that
[00:16:54] would be sweet yeah it was fine if you planned a shoplift let us know yep this
[00:17:03] week on real nerds we saw Abigail Brad do you recommend Abigail I don't know
[00:17:10] if it's a must see it's fun but it wasn't I didn't have as much fun as ready or
[00:17:15] not but yeah it wasn't yeah there wasn't like a lot there for me but yeah it's
[00:17:24] it's a kind of like a watch and throw away yeah for me yeah I love a lot of fun
[00:17:32] this movie it's the the radio silence filmmaking crew definitely have a style of
[00:17:42] film and they're really fun and it's always good to go out and have fun
[00:17:48] watching a horror movie personal opinion that's always makes it really fun for
[00:17:53] me here's the trailer for Abigail got the shit you're really good at
[00:18:14] pretending to be a little girl quick question who's inside a cage right now
[00:18:24] what do we know about vampires how do we kill it crucifixes stake through the
[00:18:37] heart daylight is a big one we need to find a way out of here we split up
[00:18:45] this is just a game to her Abigail stars Melissa Barra and she plays a woman whose
[00:19:14] codename is Joey or alias I guess is a better term for it and she's part of a
[00:19:19] crew of people that kidnap a wealthy person's daughter but when they kidnap
[00:19:27] her it's more than they bargain for Brad she is a vampire what yes and so that's
[00:19:37] literally the premise of the movie and so when I was watching it I had a lot of fun
[00:19:43] watching it but do you think that they could have sold this movie without
[00:19:47] revealing that she's the vampire it would have made it better I think like
[00:19:52] if you go into this movie just thinking that it's a heist thing and then you
[00:19:57] find out that it's a vampire like I think that would have been fun but going
[00:20:01] into it there was like no real surprise for me because of that yeah I mean I know
[00:20:06] they are it was already like the pre the premise or the synopsis on IMDB
[00:20:13] mentioned it too so I don't know how you would sell it without it I mean I
[00:20:20] guess you wouldn't have to reveal that she's a vampire you get through feel
[00:20:24] people are being hunted in the house I guess I mean you could add the trailer
[00:20:27] to make you think that Giancarlo's Buzito is the maybe the vampire yeah that's
[00:20:34] actually a good call yeah like he's tricked all these people into his like
[00:20:39] House of Horrors and yeah then the twist would be like oh the little
[00:20:44] ballerina girl is the vampire I mean he eventually becomes a vampire but yeah
[00:20:50] like the only surprising part was Dan Stevens's character kind of becomes the
[00:20:55] real villain by the end but um yeah even the Matthew Good like they reveal like
[00:21:01] oh we're actually gonna see your dad finally I was just like I didn't remember
[00:21:03] who that guy was yeah I guess he's I don't even know who that actor is but I
[00:21:09] guess he's really popular he's not a man in washman hmm right but yeah he's
[00:21:19] like he's well known but not like hugely known I guess he's like a character actor
[00:21:24] yeah so like that whole reveal is feels like you're waiting for like oh here's
[00:21:28] some like Marvel style cameo and it's just like oh this guy that I've vaguely
[00:21:34] seen in a few movies yeah because they allude that he's Dracula who would be
[00:21:38] a good cameo to be Dracula Gary Oldman or something yes oh that would be
[00:21:45] awesome that would be like a crazy surprise yeah
[00:21:50] yeah I don't know who else I mean it was fun I like the when she gets hit with
[00:21:59] sunlight and her arm blows up yeah that yeah that was cool that yeah the
[00:22:06] exploding effects like instantaneously like it's not like it's things right
[00:22:10] here yeah and ready or not when they all blow up at the end to yeah I guess
[00:22:16] that's their thing is people pulling up and this arrest though there are parts of
[00:22:20] this movie that felt like they copied and pasted three you're not scripted over
[00:22:23] because yeah stuff like that like everyone burst like explodes at the end but
[00:22:28] um there's also the fact that like there are multiple times you're like if
[00:22:32] you I was just like if you just stay put like you're in the room you got the
[00:22:36] sunlight nothing can harm you yes just wait it out the only thing is you know
[00:22:42] they had that let's split up and it was actually a line in the movie but I still
[00:22:48] have lots of fun I think Katherine new and she's one of my new favorite actresses
[00:22:51] she's always pretty fun in films and Kevin Durand he was really good in it too
[00:22:57] yeah but like getting him killed was just so like oh we just need it we
[00:23:02] need to get them out of here so we can kill him you know it just felt so
[00:23:05] forced like there's a reason yeah and they should like Catherine Newton's turn
[00:23:14] like they should just locked her up you know that would be the smart thing to do
[00:23:16] but nope yeah but yeah it's hard because like the story isn't very deep but I
[00:23:28] mean they did have some cool character moments you know I like Dan Stevens
[00:23:34] character a lot he seemed like he was kind of shady and you know Melissa Verrera
[00:23:42] as Joey she was really good in it yeah it is kind of fun how quickly they dissolve
[00:23:49] like the rules like yeah I mean it's kind of dumb that like not even five
[00:23:55] minutes later they're already breaking the rules they were told but I think
[00:23:59] it's done in a way that's a little bit more because like yeah most of her ever
[00:24:04] does the dumb thing right away but like later on they forget to like hide their
[00:24:10] masks and that's when things really go off the rails yeah it's like it's a fun
[00:24:17] movie and it moved quickly like the violence in it is really cool but also
[00:24:25] like you know very early on Abigail's clearly able to like really run about
[00:24:31] the house but then she like murders the first guy and I guess goes back to
[00:24:36] her room like why wouldn't she just like immediately just like both were
[00:24:39] everybody you know I think they kind of touched on it that it he likes to have
[00:24:43] fun yeah yeah so I think that's kind of what the thing was that she's more of
[00:24:53] a you know a predator from predator or something like that yeah I guess I
[00:24:59] actually died yeah in real life I know that Angus Cloud kid yeah I don't know him
[00:25:10] from anything else but yeah yeah I think it was a you I think he's on euphoria
[00:25:14] I've never watched euphoria me neither I mean I heard it's good I have seen a
[00:25:20] lot of those people that were on euphoria you know besides obviously
[00:25:24] Zendaya she but she was super popular before then but Sydney Sweeney's kind
[00:25:30] of really taken off the left last year so yeah people in high school it's hard
[00:25:36] to relate to for me these days so far removed from it yeah I feel too old
[00:25:43] to watch even fictional kids like be R rated you know I mean I still think
[00:25:51] super bad straight they're our age now it's fine okay we grew up with them true
[00:26:00] yeah yeah hey this is the big news story of the week
[00:26:10] it's real news
[00:26:18] I really couldn't find anything except I realized really cool article about there
[00:26:23] was a there's a 15 minute action sequence in Furiosa that took them 78 days to
[00:26:30] film with 200 extras like in one location yeah that's on you Taylor joy
[00:26:40] was talking about is the hardest thing she's ever done good it's I'm trying
[00:26:48] to man that see what's hard about that stuff is you have to do it over and over
[00:26:53] and over again and you know try to make it fresh every time that's the thing like
[00:27:00] here Fury Road itself was just so iconic on its own like yeah like those stunts
[00:27:07] like top Mad Max and the Road Warrior I think you know I mean oh yeah those old
[00:27:13] ones have their own you know like they had they were able to do more with less
[00:27:19] and obviously Fury Road have that benefit of being able to use CGI and like a lot
[00:27:23] safer procedures so like but like visually they're like it's like they
[00:27:29] crush but yeah this one I'm like it's it's I hope they're on location because
[00:27:33] from the trailer everything kind of seems like it's on the volume but I hope
[00:27:38] I'm wrong I don't know I think it was on location maybe they just did kind of the
[00:27:44] painted stuff to give it a stylistic look I don't know yeah like maybe they just
[00:27:50] like leaned into it more 10 years ago but also I can imagine like George
[00:27:56] Miller's like almost 80 years old he doesn't want to travel to Australia in
[00:28:00] the heat to make like a bunch of cars crash anymore you know yeah I mean it
[00:28:06] doesn't sound like it was an easy shoot so yeah hopefully pays off cuz yeah I
[00:28:12] remember hard because you know Fury Road is so cool and you have such a high
[00:28:18] expectation for it and I don't know where my expectations should be if that
[00:28:23] makes sense I remember like you know Fury Road wasn't a huge blockbuster when
[00:28:29] it came out you know it did well but not like Marvel money you know so it'll be
[00:28:37] interesting to see if you know the people who didn't go initially and caught
[00:28:41] it later on you know streaming or video turnout for the sequel in bigger
[00:28:45] numbers yeah it'll be it'll be interesting I mean the trailer every
[00:28:49] time I watch it I get excited yeah and you know even I think that Planet of
[00:28:54] the Apes trailer looks incredible the special effects on that film it's shit yeah
[00:29:00] it's crazy how like the close-ups on those apes are just like yeah I was
[00:29:06] thinking the same thing they have that part where it's the two apes are
[00:29:11] talking and I mean they're having some sort of like flashback and just the
[00:29:15] the expressionism and the realisticness of their eyes and things is yeah I would
[00:29:21] like those eyes feel like actual human living eyes and I think if other movies
[00:29:27] like Polar Express it's like a horror movie how the like wow how far we come
[00:29:34] yes yeah the only thing is like I don't feel like like the voices are too human
[00:29:40] coming out of them I feel like they should be like a little distorted to
[00:29:45] like a little bit of a struggle to talk like the apes are still like evolving
[00:29:50] but that's just me yeah I don't know I don't know the timeline if I know this
[00:29:55] is the I think it's supposed to take place after all the Caesar apes movies
[00:30:00] but I don't know how long maybe it takes place pretty far in the future I
[00:30:03] don't know yeah I feel like it's after that and then before the Charlton
[00:30:07] Heston one you know yeah yeah that's another movie I'm pretty excited to
[00:30:13] see I think the trailer is incredible yeah it's all I got this week well
[00:30:19] there's also the Deadpool Wolverine trailer but true you don't have to talk
[00:30:24] about how awesome that is it's yeah there's the obvious break down of it where
[00:30:32] there's a fight between Deadpool and Wolverine and it's exactly the same as
[00:30:36] Peter Parker versus Flash Thompson from 2002 Spider-Man and they have a
[00:30:43] comparison and it totally is and there's a really funny Rob Liefeld joke in
[00:30:50] there about drawing feet you know another movie I can't wait for we were
[00:30:57] watching a spider-man 2 they had that trailer for Blade Trinity I was like
[00:31:01] I wonder if they're you know cuz Ryan Reynolds is in that I wonder if
[00:31:04] they're gonna figure out a way in this video like role his Blade Trinity
[00:31:09] character into the Deadpool that is awesome because yeah they did it with his
[00:31:15] X-Men origins Wade Wilson so yeah hopefully that makes another appearance as
[00:31:21] well I do it I when I watch that trailer they show all those shots from behind
[00:31:27] Wesley Snipes and I know that's a stand-in because he never was on set
[00:31:32] it's like a real thing yeah cool yeah no that trailer is awesome I like to
[00:31:43] they're just giving you little hints and they're really not telling you what the
[00:31:45] story is obviously he needs Wolverine's help for him to keep his world how he
[00:31:52] wants it I still think it's them going through the multiverse and course
[00:31:58] correcting it by having them kill everybody yeah pretty all those branches
[00:32:03] like Loki was doing yeah it's basically yeah I felt the same it's gonna be
[00:32:09] the R rated version of Loki where you know Loki tried to stop that but now
[00:32:15] they're just gonna kill it because it's you know Deadpool yeah I mean Loki is in
[00:32:21] charge of the multiverse so the TV is in it so there must be a connection so
[00:32:26] yeah that'd be sweet if Loki shows up in that movie too yeah I mean almost feels
[00:32:32] like he has to yeah good stuff cool we're starting to get there I think
[00:32:40] like two weeks and it's fall guy so finally the summer season's heating up yes I
[00:32:47] was reading that the box office is 20% behind where it was last year sounds about
[00:32:52] right I mean this whole April's been kind of down you know yeah there's
[00:32:57] definitely coming off that strike pretty pretty rough we watch things throughout
[00:33:02] the week in a second I call what we've been watching so yeah this is stuff we've
[00:33:08] been watching Brad what did you watch this week quite a bit of stuff I saw a
[00:33:17] movie called sorcerer from 1977 starring Rashider and directed by oh yeah I've
[00:33:24] heard of it I've never seen it though yeah it's a who's name William
[00:33:31] Friedkin yeah like you would not based on the poster and the name it's not
[00:33:39] obvious what it would be I don't know if it's a great movie it's definitely
[00:33:43] treated like one of those lost treasures but you know I think it's
[00:33:47] interesting it's definitely like a filmmaking challenge and there's
[00:33:50] impressive like stunt parts but the story was like you you start out like
[00:33:56] your introducing like four different characters across the globe who are
[00:34:00] kind of criminals so like one's an assassin he killed somebody and there's a
[00:34:04] bunch of like Israeli Palestinian conflict bombers who blow up a place
[00:34:09] and then go on the run and then Rashiders like part of the mob and he
[00:34:13] steals from a church and then crashes a car and then goes on you know goes on
[00:34:18] the lamb and then the French guy who's like embezzling some stuff and his
[00:34:23] partner or brother I think killed himself to get escape and so now he's got no
[00:34:29] production so he they all escape to South America I think it was and they all
[00:34:38] kind of converge in this little town and then the town is like the economy is
[00:34:44] that there's like an oil field field and so they're like just shipping oil but
[00:34:49] then like the well explodes and burns up and so they have to close it by
[00:34:56] blowing it up again I guess also like also blowing it up but the nitroglycerin
[00:35:01] isn't a shed 218 miles away so the oil guys enlist like hey we'll pay you guys
[00:35:11] and whoever can load up these trucks and get it and drive it over to the
[00:35:16] well site will pay like a huge like I don't know like I think it was like
[00:35:20] $20,000 each or something to make it you know and they're in the
[00:35:24] jungle and there's like no good roads you know yeah yeah that's the challenge is
[00:35:29] like these one of criminals you know dude like a driver's ed class and they they
[00:35:37] try to be the the four best for the job and yeah they have to safely take this
[00:35:43] nitroglycerin which has like dissolved like it's not in the explosives
[00:35:47] anywhere it's like congealed at the bottom of the crates so like the
[00:35:50] slightest bump can you know explode them so yeah it's it's all about reinforcing
[00:35:57] and so there's a truck called Lazarus and there's a call truck called sorcerer
[00:36:01] not Roy Schyder just being a sorcerer that's what you think from the poster
[00:36:08] title yeah like I was like I was like mystic wizards and things and no it's
[00:36:13] just a bunch of wanted criminals trying to transport some nitroglycerin but
[00:36:18] like the big set piece is that like there's this you know Indiana Jones
[00:36:22] the template doomsail rope bridge across a giant river and they have to like move
[00:36:27] these enormous you know rigs like basically like the war rig from Fury Road
[00:36:34] across this bridge that has like a bunch of planks missing and it's raining
[00:36:38] and the winds blowing and there's a river underneath and apparently those
[00:36:43] guys did it for real like Roy Schyder is the stunt guy in the truck
[00:36:48] crossing this bridge you know his partner is out in front like signaling
[00:36:53] like hey you know left right pull forward and stuff and like they're getting
[00:36:56] drenched and you can see like the whole rig on this rope bridge just like
[00:37:02] it's like 45 degrees at one point you're like how does it not just fall
[00:37:07] right into the river so obviously they had cable ties and things so it's and
[00:37:13] the bridge is actually steel but they've dressed it up like a rope bridge
[00:37:17] but it's still like super dangerous but you see them actually in it doing it
[00:37:22] and it's pretty nuts. Nice. So yeah it's like yeah like I couldn't really get
[00:37:28] into the characters but it's as far as like a filmmaking enterprise
[00:37:33] you're just like the the feat of doing it is pretty impressive
[00:37:38] and what else I watch got to watch watch clerks in the theater again that
[00:37:45] movie's great obviously mall rats feast party was fun are we gonna do a ministry
[00:37:53] of un-gently warfare as a main movie? I don't know I mean can. I'll save for next
[00:38:01] week just in case and then I watched super troopers because I was like the
[00:38:06] late night the Esquire and movie haven't seen in like 20 years. I haven't seen it in a long time.
[00:38:09] Yeah it felt like I'd never seen it before like I'd forgotten most of it
[00:38:14] didn't remember where it was going it's kind of funny I guess not like a
[00:38:21] laugh riot but yeah it's weird to revisit it and feel like yes I'm
[00:38:27] pretty sure I've seen this movie twice before but I have no idea what's
[00:38:30] happening or where's going what the story is or what the gags are yeah and then
[00:38:37] the last thing I've been watching is a Roku channel has an SNL vault channel
[00:38:42] where it's like 24-7 just sketches from SNL from like the entire 50 year run
[00:38:50] and so it's a great background like it does repeat a lot of stuff but like
[00:38:59] there'll be a stretch of like oh I've seen like this stretch of shorts earlier in
[00:39:03] the day and then suddenly like it'll switch to like oh they here's a bunch of
[00:39:07] new stuff and then it'll go back to like you know another repeat of things and
[00:39:11] then like a new stretch of things and it's yeah if you want to check it out
[00:39:15] and like see like a lot of fun stuff that you may have missed over 50 years
[00:39:19] because there's a lot of stuff that like when I did that peacock rewatch of
[00:39:24] it you know there was like episodes that were only like 20 minutes long because
[00:39:29] they cut stuff out I feel like this has the missing pieces because they're all
[00:39:32] just like they're not full episodes they're just like sketch after sketch
[00:39:35] and there's no sometimes there'll be like a theme like they'll have a bunch of
[00:39:39] Christmas episodes kind of together or like a certain actor but yeah it's a
[00:39:45] good channel to like just kind of like throw on the background and watch
[00:39:50] so yeah so I do that Samsung has a Conan O'Brien channel where it just takes his stuff
[00:39:57] it's really just from his TBS days but it's still really fun because it's you
[00:40:02] know you forget about all those little skits they would do or random goofy
[00:40:06] crap and it's a fun channel it's always on Samsung TVs have their own
[00:40:13] like channel where there's connected to the internet it has like movie channels
[00:40:19] there's a Conan O'Brien channel it's all free with your Samsung so it's cool yeah
[00:40:23] it's like you know throwing on YouTube and just letting it autoplay pretty much
[00:40:28] yeah without all the friggin ads yeah I guess the last thing I watched was the
[00:40:35] deer hunter I just came from that never seen it before no it's super long
[00:40:41] haven't seen it in years but would be like when you watch Super Troopers I
[00:40:45] probably won't remember anything from it yeah for opportunity hero he and his
[00:40:51] buddies live in a our co or steel workers in a Pennsylvania town that are
[00:40:56] enjoying like God the church the opening church see their wedding scene
[00:41:00] their buddies getting married I was like my god is this the whole movie like
[00:41:05] it was so long felt like an hour of the movie but yeah after they get drafted
[00:41:13] shipped off to Vietnam you know they do the Russian roulette scene and De Niro's
[00:41:19] you know rescued everybody and then you know they try to get rescued and they
[00:41:26] all kind of get separated and eventually he comes home and you just kind of
[00:41:29] watch the aftermath of like him trying to track down his friends and you know
[00:41:36] reintegrate into society and yeah it's pretty like powerful but it is really I
[00:41:45] felt really slow in a lot of places like and I wasn't sure like what it was doing
[00:41:52] a lot of the time it's like yeah I feel like we could speed this up like I
[00:41:56] I feel like I know what's going on yeah so it's just but you know it's the
[00:42:00] late 70s and it's like one of those autora movies and they did whatever they
[00:42:05] wanted and it's their art so yeah obviously obviously the best part so
[00:42:14] you know the Russian roulette like those are the like the tense scenes and I don't
[00:42:20] spoil the finale but there's a lot of them Russian roulette scenes there's fun
[00:42:28] to watch like all the people in the audience like gasping on each click it's
[00:42:34] like you're all like work like a lot of you were like 60 or 70 I'm pretty sure
[00:42:38] you know what's gonna happen but yeah anyway would you watch yeah I didn't
[00:42:44] playing video games so I'm not watching tons the so I got this new so we talked
[00:42:53] about doing the Kino Lorber like you know just sales thing and getting $5.99
[00:43:01] blue rays so one I got is code of silence with Chuck Norris so the tagline
[00:43:09] is is he's a good cop having a bad day and he's a detective who is fighting
[00:43:19] corruption in his own police department while he's trying to take down this
[00:43:24] mob boss so yeah and so they're also integrating this it's like
[00:43:31] the Robo cop
[00:43:33] I'm drawn a blank but it's the thing that has the machine guns on the side of
[00:43:44] it it's the other robot ED 209 yeah thank you they have that kind of thing
[00:43:50] but it's a tank and it's controlled with remote control and Chuck Norris
[00:43:54] thinks it takes all the person like all the people out of police work but in an
[00:44:01] ironic twist he uses it at the end when no one will back him up because he
[00:44:07] won't sign off on so there's this him trying to fight these mob people and
[00:44:15] then there's also this one of his so he's a sergeant and then one of his I
[00:44:21] guess subordinates kills a kid in the hallway and plants a gun on him and
[00:44:26] Chuck Norris won't give him his like his badge back but everybody else in the
[00:44:33] police department is covering for him but Chuck Norris won't because he's you know
[00:44:38] he has integrity and that's what code of silence comes from as if he didn't
[00:44:42] believe in a code of silence exactly and then there's a rookie and the rookie
[00:44:46] has an opportunity to do the right thing and he doesn't until the very
[00:44:50] end when no one will Chuck Norris goes by himself with all these drug dealers and
[00:44:57] these weapon dealers after they kidnap this one girl after they like kill her
[00:45:02] whole family in front of her and he's the only one who goes to like rescuer so
[00:45:07] he's and then the other guys are ignoring his radio calls for backup
[00:45:12] until the the one rookie who had the opportunity to do the right thing
[00:45:19] finally does and he goes to help him but he only shows up after Chuck Norris
[00:45:27] kills everybody so it's like this easy to switch sides yeah I mean it's it's a
[00:45:36] cheesy 80s action movie it's not one of Chuck Norris is best but it's still
[00:45:41] kind of fun in you know it's not that great but it's an 80s action movie
[00:45:47] way I mean I had fun watching it but you know 599 is a good price for it but the
[00:45:55] cool thing is it has tons of special features on it so that's good too and
[00:46:00] the only other thing other thing I watched is this horror movie called
[00:46:05] unwelcome it's just remember man 2012 we were at tell your right horror show
[00:46:14] and there was that movie called grabbers that the people made the battery
[00:46:20] were pissed because they're like media people made them do an interview with
[00:46:25] us I didn't see it but yeah well I didn't see it either but the guys who made
[00:46:31] that made this movie called unwelcome it's an Irish horror film about these
[00:46:39] red-capped goblins that you have to give them a blood sacrifice every night and if
[00:46:45] you don't you have to or you can offer them something and they'll help you and
[00:46:51] it takes a little bit to get going I mean the monsters really don't show up
[00:46:56] till the last like 30 40 minutes of the movie but it has this kind of cool
[00:47:02] fairy tale vibe to it the story is this couple is attacked at their home in
[00:47:10] London and when their aunt dies she gives them she leaves them their home in
[00:47:15] Ireland and when they go there you know what the lady forgets to do the first
[00:47:21] night Brad you'll never know she did not leave out the blood offering which is
[00:47:26] like a pizza liver for the red caps I know but she eventually does and they
[00:47:37] yeah then there's there's there's trouble of foot in in the neighborhood and
[00:47:44] she's attacked by these certain people and she asked the goblins for help and
[00:47:49] then it gets really violent and really cool so like it's not like a great movie
[00:47:56] but when it gets going it's really fun and the practical effects are really
[00:48:02] cool they tried really hard either this really short making of on the Blu-ray
[00:48:09] where they talk about they try to avoid CGI so they use a lot of force
[00:48:14] perspective with the goblins and you can tell a little bit but I mean it's still
[00:48:21] cool that they use you know practical effects and try to use camera tricks
[00:48:25] instead of CGI and yeah it's violent and cool and just kind of a cool movie
[00:48:34] that I got it twist and shout for $5.99 or maybe it's only $4.99 I don't know
[00:48:42] is in like their clearance Blu-ray use section and I was only there because I
[00:48:49] was pissed because I went to record store day which was on 420 so I had to get
[00:48:55] yeah I had to get through Civic Center Park which was awful and the only reason
[00:49:01] I wanted to go there is because there was a limited edition basses album that
[00:49:06] I got the last one that there was a record store day like in November I
[00:49:10] think it is it's Black Friday and I went the next day and it was still there
[00:49:14] today the on you know 420 day I got there at 4 30 p.m. maybe 5 and they were
[00:49:24] completely sold out so bummed that's lame I know and if you and if you call
[00:49:33] them there would they weren't gonna hold it they had it on their website
[00:49:36] they're not gonna hold any of the records so yeah this record store days are
[00:49:40] just like insane I don't unless I find it later I just I don't bother with it
[00:49:45] yeah I mean the store was like kind of busy but it wasn't super busy because
[00:49:51] obviously everyone's already there yeah yeah I know and I was hoping that I
[00:49:57] mean I love Rod Stewart but I was hoping because the last time I was able
[00:50:03] to get at the next day that if I was a few hours late that it wouldn't matter but
[00:50:08] when I went on the record store website afterwards there's only 3,000 worldwide
[00:50:13] so I mean how many did Twist and Shout get maybe three how much were they
[00:50:19] selling him for it's like 32 well if you want to pay twice that much you can
[00:50:24] get it on eBay right now yeah maybe yeah that's all I watch this week
[00:50:36] you'll also a spider-man 2 oh well yeah we did we did see spider-man 2 in the
[00:50:43] theater 35 millimeter obviously 30 millimeter holy shit yeah the dude really
[00:50:51] whoever's a project this really struggled with it yeah but it was still fun I
[00:50:57] like the trailers they showed us beginning you mentioned Blade Trinity
[00:51:02] they also showed Christmas with the cranks yeah which I forgot like I guess
[00:51:07] those would be attached like to the film yeah it wouldn't be a separate thing
[00:51:11] so yeah whatever real that was yeah I had those there's the third one wasn't
[00:51:16] there there was I don't remember what it was though yeah but yeah it was
[00:51:22] interesting so good yeah I'm gonna say spider-man 2 is still one of the greatest
[00:51:26] superhero movies ever so yeah like really keep interrupting you but it's
[00:51:32] really fun revisiting them in the theater yeah like I just remember those
[00:51:38] two movies being so epic like when I first watched them and that now they
[00:51:42] just seem kind of quaint yeah you know just Marvel infinity war and end game of
[00:51:50] just like you know it's not these are bad they're just like the stakes and
[00:51:54] everything just seems so epic those two movies came out now they're just like
[00:51:58] I like I was like Doc Ock is barely in this movie like there's so many scenes
[00:52:04] of Peter struggling with his powers and struggling with Mary Jane it's and
[00:52:08] even Harry Gossborne is barely in it yeah you know Alfred Molina those great as
[00:52:14] Doc Ock he's a really good comic book villain yeah in the movie because you
[00:52:20] really you know you really like him at the beginning yeah he's an anti-hero
[00:52:25] he's like obviously totally a guy but it's just like a lost raptor arms take
[00:52:32] over his brain yeah that's it true you know life dies and yeah sends him over
[00:52:42] the edge but yeah yeah good stuff I just love those movies and it's I always love
[00:52:47] revisiting them because you know Sam Raimi is my favorite filmmaker and he
[00:52:53] always has little Sam Raimi moments in it where it's you know when Pete comes
[00:52:57] out of the broom closet yeah it's great stuff and these raindrops fall on my
[00:53:05] head thing is so like oh that's they did that in spider-man 3 you know like why do
[00:53:11] people hate that think from Simon 3 so much when it's a very similar vibe from
[00:53:14] this one but yeah I agree so yeah what is next week figured out the movie next
[00:53:21] week but when I do I'll post it cool until then we'll see you at the movie
