[00:01:26] Welcome to Reel Nerds Podcast.

[00:01:43] I'm officially the official podcast at Denver Comic Con 2019 and beyond and it is a special

[00:01:49] week here on Reel Nerds Podcast.

[00:01:51] All the nerds are in the house.

[00:01:52] It's almost like there's a movie we all wanted to see that week.

[00:01:55] It's Shane Blackbrings-Matman.

[00:01:57] He does.

[00:01:58] We have...

[00:01:59] Oh James, how long has it been?

[00:02:01] Like five weeks.

[00:02:02] Yeah I was in Houston.

[00:02:03] I was in Arkansas.

[00:02:04] I was in Fair Play.

[00:02:05] I was sick.

[00:02:06] I think your last episode was your 300th by the way.

[00:02:10] We totally didn't acknowledge it.

[00:02:11] No I think I didn't show up that week.

[00:02:13] He didn't show up that week.

[00:02:14] I think this one.

[00:02:15] I think this is the 300th.

[00:02:16] No no no.

[00:02:17] No it was the last one you were on as I'm saying.

[00:02:20] Okay okay.

[00:02:21] Well you made it to 300 Club.

[00:02:23] There we go.

[00:02:24] Oh I hate oh no the 700 Club.

[00:02:28] That's the show I hated.

[00:02:30] Even as a 10 year old I was like this is bad Christianity.

[00:02:33] You guys don't know what you're talking about.

[00:02:34] I always remember it was on just before cartoons.

[00:02:37] Oh you should be talking five weeks.

[00:02:40] I misread it and thought it was the 007 Club.

[00:02:42] He's like you like wake up.

[00:02:44] You like wake up go down turn on the TV and be like God damn it why aren't the cartoons

[00:02:47] on yet.

[00:02:48] You've been gone for five weeks your last episode was shut up megh.

[00:02:50] Yeah I know.

[00:02:51] I was your 300th.

[00:02:52] Yeah.

[00:02:54] Yeah.

[00:02:55] I also have Zach.

[00:02:56] That's appropriate.

[00:02:57] Oh hi I'm here.

[00:02:58] Zach your hat looks worse for wear.

[00:02:59] I know I need to get a new one.

[00:03:01] It's a Batman hat for those.

[00:03:02] It is Batman.

[00:03:03] If you peel the Batman off there and then you buy a nice new hat I can have that Batman

[00:03:07] sewed on to the hat.

[00:03:09] Ooh I might just do that then.

[00:03:10] Yeah.

[00:03:11] But you're going to be able to sew in the register trademark.

[00:03:13] I mean you'd have to be nice to my mom.

[00:03:15] I mean like I don't care.

[00:03:17] I don't sew but my mom will do it.

[00:03:20] And someone asks I'll just be like it's Chinese knockoff.

[00:03:23] And Brad what episode number is this for you?

[00:03:27] I am two weeks away from my 300th.

[00:03:30] Nice.

[00:03:31] Which is gonna be venom.

[00:03:32] I'm gonna skip a week so my 300th can be first man.

[00:03:37] Oh geez.

[00:03:38] Oh geez.

[00:03:41] It's gonna start getting good.

[00:03:42] I'm gonna have to start coming to this guy to the podcast.

[00:03:44] But the good news is that Zach streak ended.

[00:03:48] It did.

[00:03:49] Yes.

[00:03:50] Yeah thanks to Henry.

[00:03:51] Thanks to Henry so it's anyone's game.

[00:03:52] So the next longest streak.

[00:03:55] As long as we do it on days I don't work.

[00:03:56] I'll always be here.

[00:03:57] Yeah.

[00:03:58] Cause I have this job that sometimes I get stuck at and it's um.

[00:04:03] Oh you're a baker that's right.

[00:04:05] Yes.

[00:04:06] And I someone's got someone's got to make the donuts.

[00:04:10] Someone's got to fry that dough man.

[00:04:12] His mind is will be made.

[00:04:13] I already made the donuts.

[00:04:14] Yep.

[00:04:15] Any uh was that Dunkin' Donuts?

[00:04:17] Old school ad?

[00:04:18] Yeah.

[00:04:19] Something like that.

[00:04:20] 80s kids over here.

[00:04:21] Yep.

[00:04:22] Totally 80 style.

[00:04:23] I was in the 80s.

[00:04:25] Yep.

[00:04:26] I was coming up on your birthday.

[00:04:27] It's your birthday Venom week.

[00:04:28] Yeah.

[00:04:29] That sucks.

[00:04:30] You get a better.

[00:04:31] You know what?

[00:04:32] Maybe it'll be awesome.

[00:04:33] You get a better birthday present a week later.

[00:04:35] I think it is.

[00:04:36] I didn't realize the director also did Zambieland.

[00:04:37] Yeah.

[00:04:38] But also gets your squad.

[00:04:39] Yeah.

[00:04:40] He's had a rough time of it.

[00:04:41] 30 minutes or less.

[00:04:42] He's uh he's an up and down career.

[00:04:44] Yeah.

[00:04:45] There's some good stuff in there.

[00:04:46] Yeah.

[00:04:47] He's interesting to say the least.

[00:04:48] Ruben Fleischer.

[00:04:49] So we'll see if it's been made.

[00:04:51] It might be fine.

[00:04:52] I think that's going to be an unrated cut.

[00:04:54] Like that matters.

[00:04:55] But I know.

[00:04:56] I'm sorry to tell you it needs to be rated.

[00:04:58] I don't think Venom live in the comments.

[00:05:00] It's for kids.

[00:05:02] Why are we watching him?

[00:05:03] Like what?

[00:05:04] Eat people and I'm really close to the trading in my lethal protector number one because

[00:05:08] I'm watching it.

[00:05:09] It keeps on going up in value.

[00:05:10] Yeah.

[00:05:11] And I'm going to walk into Andrew.

[00:05:12] Like, I don't want this.

[00:05:13] Give me an old Spider-Man.

[00:05:14] Give me something good.

[00:05:15] Give me Spider-Man number one.

[00:05:17] I feel bad.

[00:05:18] If that ever happened, we're Venom lethal protector number one.

[00:05:21] Worth as much as amazing Spider-Man number one.

[00:05:23] And you'll find me hanging by my deck because that means everything's gone to shit.

[00:05:28] Yeah.

[00:05:29] Like some books that keep on creeping up in value like saga.

[00:05:33] I mean, it's a great book.

[00:05:35] Deadly class keeps on going up.

[00:05:37] Things like that.

[00:05:38] I don't care.

[00:05:39] But like lethal protector.

[00:05:41] Not that great.

[00:05:42] Also, I guess I have one that.

[00:05:45] So I guess there's more than one's symbiote in this in this film.

[00:05:50] Oh yeah.

[00:05:51] So I think the first appearance of one of them is I think lethal protector five or something

[00:05:54] and I have it.

[00:05:55] And it's worth more than the first appearance.

[00:05:56] Oh wow.

[00:05:57] Or the first issue of the miniseries.

[00:05:58] I'm just going to trade a wall in because I don't give a shit.

[00:06:00] Sounds like a great version.

[00:06:01] Yeah, because now it's probably the time because it will probably never be worth as much

[00:06:04] unless Marvel makes a Marvel movie with Venom in it.

[00:06:08] Yeah.

[00:06:09] And Grave Venom.

[00:06:10] Well, it's weird.

[00:06:11] I have these issues that are really great.

[00:06:13] I mean, that keep on skyrocketing.

[00:06:17] So Captain Marvel's first appearance, Carol Danvers.

[00:06:20] First appearance as Captain Marvel is an avenging Spider-Man number nine.

[00:06:24] Oh, it's like a $700 comic right now.

[00:06:27] Oh shit.

[00:06:28] Because it's avenging Spider-Man number nine.

[00:06:30] So no one cares about it.

[00:06:32] And so it was under ordered.

[00:06:34] And then they're like, oh shit, this is actually a big deal.

[00:06:36] Now everybody wants it.

[00:06:37] So I'm most valuable comics.

[00:06:40] Yeah.

[00:06:41] And I didn't even know it.

[00:06:43] Yeah.

[00:06:44] And the question is, will it be more or less valuable in April?

[00:06:48] Exactly.

[00:06:49] I'm always, I don't know.

[00:06:51] That one might stay because so Carol Danvers and Miss Marvel could blow up though.

[00:06:55] If it wonder woman's and everybody goes and sees it and they're like, holy shit.

[00:06:59] Carol Danvers is dope as shit.

[00:07:01] If wonder woman's like that term.

[00:07:04] I'm always in this conundrum.

[00:07:05] So I always some of like the Spider-Man's are I'll just never be able to afford him.

[00:07:09] Never.

[00:07:10] Because I'm not going to drop a thousand dollars for comic.

[00:07:12] I'm just not going to do it unless I win a lottery.

[00:07:14] But if you don't care about that.

[00:07:15] Exactly.

[00:07:16] I mean, but it breaks up my run of avenging Spider-Man.

[00:07:20] Yeah, but it's a vinging Spider-Man.

[00:07:22] Exactly.

[00:07:23] So that's where you could sell it and then go buy a really good amazing.

[00:07:27] Exactly.

[00:07:28] Like the first appearance of the first appearance of Mysterio.

[00:07:31] Yes.

[00:07:32] I would do it in a heartbeat.

[00:07:33] Right.

[00:07:34] Exactly.

[00:07:35] So that's where I'm at right now with that.

[00:07:36] That's where I'm at.

[00:07:37] Yeah.

[00:07:38] Fascinating.

[00:07:39] Fascinating.

[00:07:40] That's what we do when we're nerds.

[00:07:44] Every week on Real Nerds podcast, we go see a new movie and we podcast or experience

[00:07:47] the world.

[00:07:48] This week we saw the Predator.

[00:07:50] Yeah.

[00:07:51] Stay tuned to the show where we're view the movie, play the trailer and say if it's

[00:07:56] well there's actually spoilers in this one.

[00:07:57] Oh, hell yeah.

[00:07:58] We will definitely spoil this one.

[00:08:00] So I was talking about movies.

[00:08:01] We've been watching movie news and movies that are coming out on Blu-ray and we were talking

[00:08:06] about the Spider-Man video game which is amazing.

[00:08:08] Oh my God.

[00:08:09] So much fun.

[00:08:10] So do you switch out of his?

[00:08:11] I switch him back to the amazing like costume.

[00:08:13] I'm usually in the amazing costume.

[00:08:16] I've been in the homecoming costume a little bit lately and there was one mission where

[00:08:21] I was doing some stealth stuff so I put him in the noir costume.

[00:08:23] I buy the other ones because they want the suit.

[00:08:26] Yeah.

[00:08:27] And then yeah.

[00:08:29] Kellen really likes a Scarlet Spider costume.

[00:08:32] Of course, because he's a kid and that's when you like Scarlet Spider's costume.

[00:08:35] I mean he has a hoodie.

[00:08:36] You know, yeah, yeah.

[00:08:37] He's like, don't.

[00:08:38] I've never even put it on that one.

[00:08:40] I just got one of the, there's a like a black one at some point.

[00:08:43] It's not the black suit yet but like a cooler one.

[00:08:46] What's cool though is you can unlock the powers and put them on any suits.

[00:08:49] Right.

[00:08:50] So you don't have to wear that suit which is cool.

[00:08:52] You get the suit from the Tupin Maguire?

[00:08:54] Or they just think so.

[00:08:56] I mean I think it's pretty close to amazing.

[00:08:59] It's close to the amazing one that it's like, and we don't know yet.

[00:09:02] I mean there's 30 suits something like that.

[00:09:05] Like there's a bunch and there's actually more than what you see at the beginning so there

[00:09:08] may be 35 or 40.

[00:09:10] Because as you, as you unlock certain like side projects and stuff like that that

[00:09:15] you can do all of a sudden there's some new ones up top up at the bottom.

[00:09:18] Yeah.

[00:09:19] Yeah I could be in there.

[00:09:20] Like the amazing, the amazing Spider-Man suit is in there somewhere.

[00:09:23] Yeah, and I'm trying really hard to not look at any like cheats or anything because I'm

[00:09:28] trying to discover the game on my own so I haven't really read reviews for it.

[00:09:32] I mean I always say no to everyone giving me good reviews but yeah.

[00:09:35] I'm trying to just play the game.

[00:09:38] I do that with like Resident Evil and things like that.

[00:09:40] I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying doing the side stuff.

[00:09:42] Yeah it's fun.

[00:09:43] Even the dumb shit and I think partially it's because just swinging between the buildings

[00:09:47] is so satisfying.

[00:09:48] Yeah.

[00:09:49] That like literally I'll just sit there like for an hour and a half and just run around

[00:09:53] and get back backs.

[00:09:54] I love just doing parkour and just saying parkour constantly.

[00:09:58] Yeah.

[00:09:59] Because if you just hold down a button, make them run.

[00:10:00] He'll automatically like jump from places.

[00:10:03] It's pretty awesome.

[00:10:04] Like have you ran up a bunch of fire escapes?

[00:10:05] Oh yes fire escapes.

[00:10:06] He's like flying in.

[00:10:07] Oh it's awesome.

[00:10:08] Every now and then he'll just do like you know hit a button or you'll jump through something

[00:10:13] and he'll do it in the coolest way that you weren't expecting.

[00:10:16] Like there's just these funny little animations that are here for things like that.

[00:10:19] Like he'll swing through the fire escape as well which is really neat.

[00:10:25] Yep.

[00:10:26] So there's one of my friends on Facebook said his girlfriend was having trouble with

[00:10:32] it because of the shitty camera.

[00:10:33] I'm like oh she's just shitty at web swinging.

[00:10:34] Yeah.

[00:10:35] You literally just hold down R2 and point the direction.

[00:10:39] Yep.

[00:10:40] It's not hard.

[00:10:41] It's like the easiest thing and it's really satisfying too when you're fighting a bunch

[00:10:43] of bad guys and you can like web him up and then jump off walls and combo off walls

[00:10:48] and awesome.

[00:10:49] Yeah.

[00:10:50] I think I'm finally getting pretty good at the fighting.

[00:10:53] It took a little bit from me too.

[00:10:55] Especially the big dudes.

[00:10:56] They took me a while for the big guys because they come up and cold cock you from behind.

[00:10:59] Well and because it's I'm finally getting to a place where I use some of the other things

[00:11:03] and early on I was just punching everyone.

[00:11:05] Yeah.

[00:11:06] So it was just like punch, punch, dodge, punch, dodge, punch.

[00:11:08] You know so I'd get the points where I was just constantly dodging until I could punch

[00:11:11] a dude and then dodge a bunch and a punch a dude you know.

[00:11:13] Yeah and I was saying for a long time if they just took the basic concept of the Arkham

[00:11:17] games and applied it to Spider-Man at work that's what they did and that's what they

[00:11:21] did because Arkham has the same like fighting style but you just incorporate Spider-Man's

[00:11:26] agility to it and it's amazing.

[00:11:28] Even some of the things where it's like oh this is their ridler trophy equivalent.

[00:11:32] Yeah.

[00:11:33] This is that you know, that's okay.

[00:11:35] Yeah it's pretty good.

[00:11:36] You make it Spider-Man like the humor is great I love Spider-Cop.

[00:11:39] Yeah, Spider-Cop.

[00:11:40] So Spider-Man is working with the captain of the police force and he keeps intermonial

[00:11:47] allying himself.

[00:11:48] Spider-Cop is on the trail.

[00:11:50] He's a grizzled vet.

[00:11:51] You see him alive.

[00:11:52] That's pretty great.

[00:11:54] I was we were going to bed the other night and I was like I turned to Brooks and I was

[00:11:58] so today I failed to pay my rent and I got evicted and my landlord threw all my stuff out

[00:12:04] and I had to chase down the trash truck driver so that I could get my stuff back because all

[00:12:12] of my spider research was in there.

[00:12:13] You're like God damn it, you're trying to play with the game aren't you?

[00:12:16] Yeah.

[00:12:17] But there's also those fun ones when they changed it up everyone's while like the arm

[00:12:20] robberies where you go in there then the dudes start taking off.

[00:12:23] Yeah.

[00:12:24] And you gotta chase them and web them down.

[00:12:25] Yeah though car stuff was hard for a while.

[00:12:26] Yeah once you get fast it's not too bad.

[00:12:29] Yeah once I figured out how that worked I was like okay cool it's really just quick

[00:12:32] timey stuff so I'm gonna get a PS4 now.

[00:12:35] Cool people do.

[00:12:36] It's great yeah.

[00:12:37] Well I mean I've never aspired to be cool I just want to play this game.

[00:12:40] Well let's get good your know.

[00:12:41] I don't care about the status symbol and also I know.

[00:12:45] We're really enthralling Brad he's looking at his emails.

[00:12:47] Yeah.

[00:12:48] I heard there's a stand by mom.

[00:12:49] I can hear my mom fast forwarding right now.

[00:12:53] But me and James are having fun go Spidey.

[00:12:54] Yeah it's so good.

[00:12:55] Let's name the next game go Spidey.

[00:12:56] So seriously we need to move on because I gotta go home.

[00:12:59] For what?

[00:13:00] To play Spider-Man what the fuck?

[00:13:02] Oh that's right.

[00:13:03] No I've spent time with my wife today.

[00:13:06] She wanted to come down here so bad and she's like not feeling well.

[00:13:09] I said why don't you stay home I'll take Kellen and you can not do anything and you know

[00:13:14] my wife she has to be doing something.

[00:13:16] So even yesterday I had Kellen all day and I was already planning on going to Target

[00:13:22] because I need to get like a hardwood floor cleaner.

[00:13:25] And she so I was getting Kellen and she's like I don't feel good.

[00:13:29] And she's like me when Lauren said she talks like that.

[00:13:33] Yeah it's weird.

[00:13:34] And so I got trademark writers.

[00:13:36] So I told her I said oh and she said I have just so much to do I said what do you have

[00:13:41] to do in the four hours before you get to work that's so important.

[00:13:45] Well I mean I gotta do laundry and I gotta make the beds I said do you gotta do that's

[00:13:50] or do you want to do that stuff.

[00:13:53] And she didn't have an answer for me and she basically rolled her eyes which is her version

[00:13:56] of fuck you.

[00:13:57] And I said okay see you later.

[00:13:59] She stayed over nice time chores her allusion created by society.

[00:14:05] I was like I obviously did that stuff and she's like oh thank you I thought I was going

[00:14:09] to come home and do it like why?

[00:14:11] Just go to bed.

[00:14:12] Yeah.

[00:14:13] But my wife is really silly like that.

[00:14:16] Always has to be doing something.

[00:14:17] Never can sit down and just even when she reads.

[00:14:20] She has to go somewhere to read like she'll go to like a brewery or.

[00:14:25] So if you can watch her read.

[00:14:26] Yeah.

[00:14:27] Yeah.

[00:14:28] She's goofy.

[00:14:29] Like why did you just stay home and I stopped reading.

[00:14:31] I just have audio books now.

[00:14:33] Yeah.

[00:14:34] I walk the dog read a book.

[00:14:35] You're not really reading it then are you?

[00:14:37] No but I heard it.

[00:14:39] Yep.

[00:14:40] Anyways this is what's happening around town with Brad.

[00:14:50] Hey film buddies follow me around Denver.

[00:14:58] Brad's a GDG with Bootersack.

[00:15:01] It remembers you Tim.

[00:15:03] It remembers all the way down to saving new.

[00:15:05] I haven't noticed that on that because last week my Veska.

[00:15:07] My Veska crash and burned.

[00:15:09] Yeah Veska.

[00:15:10] Yeah.

[00:15:12] Crash and burned but you know what you survived.

[00:15:15] Yep.

[00:15:15] I mean.

[00:15:17] I mean when you crash and there was gas all over your face or you went.

[00:15:20] Right.

[00:15:21] You made it.

[00:15:23] You made it.

[00:15:24] And you know what your surgery looks great.

[00:15:25] It still look like Brad.

[00:15:27] But deep down inside the scars are still there.

[00:15:30] The scars may be healed on the outside but in the inside.

[00:15:36] Still the driving.

[00:15:37] Still crazy rejections.

[00:15:41] The Meg and the none.

[00:15:43] Cool.

[00:15:44] Not in that order sorry.

[00:15:46] The crazy rejections the none in the Meg.

[00:15:49] Weird.

[00:15:50] The none would be at the end.

[00:15:51] Yeah I would too.

[00:15:52] Well, I thought it's not that scary.

[00:15:55] Well no it's not scary.

[00:15:56] It's not about the scary.

[00:15:57] It's about.

[00:15:58] I can see people wanting to come see crazy rejections and the Meg.

[00:16:01] And then families not wanting to say for the Meg.

[00:16:03] The Meg is like four weeks out.

[00:16:05] Yeah maybe that's why.

[00:16:07] Yeah that makes sense.

[00:16:08] Yeah.

[00:16:09] So yeah $8 movies into the stars.

[00:16:12] It's great.

[00:16:13] Check it out.

[00:16:14] And the Esquire midnight this week is Akira.

[00:16:17] I've never seen that really you're fine.

[00:16:21] I think I mentioned this before but I mean that that blu-ray is always like nine bucks at

[00:16:26] Best Buy so we can pick it up watch it or you could go to the Esquire and see it.

[00:16:32] Yeah you know yeah experience how it's meant to be for 950 so for for this for fifty

[00:16:38] seven forty four no forty nine cents less I'm sorry because I'm not counting tax on

[00:16:42] and then I with a bunch of anime fans.

[00:16:44] Oh yeah.

[00:16:45] I think I'm just gonna get the blue.

[00:16:48] This is my favorite part.

[00:16:51] Every fandom fandoms are fine but they're doing it in Japanese with English sub-house.

[00:16:54] I've got the blu-ray you can watch it in English with Japanese sub-dials.

[00:16:57] Okay.

[00:16:58] I actually told someone to shut up on my movie this week.

[00:17:01] Yeah.

[00:17:02] The Elmo?

[00:17:03] No as cheating.

[00:17:05] Well it sucks because I was I was supposed to I was going to see it with you guys and

[00:17:09] then Laura's like well I picked up a shift and then my mom says you said I'm going out

[00:17:13] of town so I had no one to watch my camera.

[00:17:15] Could I just put them to the predator?

[00:17:17] No.

[00:17:18] And so I had to see it at 10 in the morning at AMC and I sit down and it's 10 in the

[00:17:24] morning.

[00:17:25] No one seeing the predator at 10 in the morning except for me in like three people.

[00:17:27] Right.

[00:17:28] And so I'm in like Roe.

[00:17:29] Did Zach Alphanakas comes to it right next to you?

[00:17:32] That'd be fine.

[00:17:33] As in Roe all by myself and then some dude sits like three seats away from me in Roe

[00:17:39] and the movie starts and starts getting on his phone and it rings and he says hello

[00:17:42] and I go shut up.

[00:17:43] And then he got up and left and never came back so I win.

[00:17:47] Good.

[00:17:48] His mom died.

[00:17:49] Yeah that's right.

[00:17:50] So once holding my wife in baby hostage.

[00:17:53] Like the cold.

[00:17:54] It's a totally not to tell anybody there's a predator holding his wife.

[00:17:57] He's he's riding out of suicide note.

[00:17:59] I went to the theater and my mom died and some guy told me to shut up.

[00:18:03] So now I'm going to hang myself so no one can ever hear me again because I knew he was

[00:18:06] right.

[00:18:07] Obviously for us we've got a suicide.

[00:18:10] It's for you to come and see the look out here seriously just turn your phone off your

[00:18:13] mom will still be dead after the movie.

[00:18:15] Yeah.

[00:18:16] I showed them to the suicide he did.

[00:18:18] He did shut up.

[00:18:19] Did shut up.

[00:18:20] I guess he shut up.

[00:18:22] Frost you know something about this forever.

[00:18:25] Not at all.

[00:18:26] Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait.

[00:18:29] For people listening home I put on my sunglasses.

[00:18:31] I guess he did shut up.

[00:18:33] He's you will get.

[00:18:35] Forever.

[00:18:36] I was a little too early on that.

[00:18:39] It gave a carousel.

[00:18:40] I see a semi-ammy.

[00:18:41] I wouldn't even know what that show is anymore.

[00:18:43] I think it's still on.

[00:18:44] No.

[00:18:45] Did you encourage them to kill themselves?

[00:18:46] Is that making it a compless?

[00:18:48] You can be charged with manslaughter.

[00:18:50] Some girl just had that happened to her.

[00:18:52] Yeah because of the texting.

[00:18:54] Yeah.

[00:18:55] That sucks.

[00:18:56] You shouldn't have done that.

[00:18:57] You have to prove that your intent was for them to kill themselves.

[00:18:59] Right.

[00:19:00] And that's going on around town.

[00:19:01] Well, special suicides and triple features.

[00:19:07] Meribal assisted suicide.

[00:19:09] I just so specified this is for the week of September.

[00:19:12] I know.

[00:19:13] I mean eventually we'll get caught up.

[00:19:15] Something.

[00:19:16] Why do we get this?

[00:19:17] Because we're on Saturday.

[00:19:19] So I specified that all those things were for the 21st to the 22nd.

[00:19:25] Yeah.

[00:19:26] 21st is Friday.

[00:19:28] So if this episode comes out late, all this is relevant.

[00:19:31] Gotcha.

[00:19:32] Yep.

[00:19:33] I'll go get caught up.

[00:19:34] Okay, caught up when I'm close.

[00:19:35] This one and another one.

[00:19:37] Peppermint is still on the way.

[00:19:39] And then this, this one.

[00:19:40] Yeah.

[00:19:41] So we can do it.

[00:19:42] I have faith in this podcasting crew.

[00:19:45] Also the all most doing first responders and military free movie tickets for the month of September.

[00:19:50] Ooh!

[00:19:51] And it's any movie.

[00:19:52] Just show up and show your ID.

[00:19:54] That's cool.

[00:19:55] Yeah.

[00:19:56] I sent that to my sister on Facebook.

[00:19:58] I said like, now you have no excuses.

[00:20:00] Now you can come see an Alamo show and I'll just buy the ticket next to you guys.

[00:20:03] Yeah.

[00:20:04] So yeah, you should see it.

[00:20:05] Mandy's there.

[00:20:06] Maybe that's why she was, she texted me just now and said like is the mega any good?

[00:20:10] And James gave me the best response to send to her, which was yes, there is any good in it.

[00:20:15] Actually, sorry.

[00:20:17] Good.

[00:20:18] I was going out since there's only two of them left out and it's only two weeks away.

[00:20:22] The second to last open screen night is September 25th.

[00:20:25] So $5, bring your movie, screen it because this is the second of the last chance to do it.

[00:20:31] Okay.

[00:20:32] Do it.

[00:20:33] Oh shoot!

[00:20:34] You guys are all here.

[00:20:35] I can finish my fake trailer now.

[00:20:37] I gotta go.

[00:20:38] Yep.

[00:20:39] See ya.

[00:20:40] And we're back.

[00:20:41] This is movie news.

[00:20:43] It's real news!

[00:20:46] Okay, Brett.

[00:20:52] I'm going to give you the ultimate.

[00:20:56] You're the decider.

[00:20:58] Are we talking about it?

[00:21:00] No.

[00:21:01] Okay.

[00:21:02] Let's just move on.

[00:21:03] All right.

[00:21:04] What are we not talking about?

[00:21:05] That's super in.

[00:21:06] Oh.

[00:21:07] Uh, uh, uh, uh, Rand, do you want to yell about how Apple can delete all your movies?

[00:21:12] Well, here's a thing with that.

[00:21:14] Game traction this week.

[00:21:15] Finally something I care about.

[00:21:16] Yeah.

[00:21:17] Well, no, like, you're in traction this week but it's been something we've been saying for years.

[00:21:20] Yeah, because Apple is shitty to their customers.

[00:21:22] And it's not only at graphs and evidence.

[00:21:24] Yeah.

[00:21:25] And it's not only Apple though.

[00:21:26] I mean, I have, uh, voodoo didn't do it.

[00:21:29] Yeah, voodoo.

[00:21:30] Voodoo does it because you have to log on to the cloud to get your stuff even though you're like, oh you download it.

[00:21:35] No, you didn't.

[00:21:36] You still have to log on if they don't want you.

[00:21:38] They don't want you to go fuck yourself.

[00:21:39] You have to go fuck yourself.

[00:21:40] Yeah, I had like digital copies of the, all the dirty Harry movies from a...

[00:21:43] Yeah, because they run out of their license.

[00:21:45] And so then they just yank everything and they do it with music.

[00:21:48] I had Amazon.

[00:21:49] Yeah, Amazon do it.

[00:21:50] It's a music I bought from them.

[00:21:51] But fucking just pull it.

[00:21:53] I downloaded it but then they can...

[00:21:55] When you update the app, then it blocks it from you, just like they do.

[00:21:58] And I don't know why it just gained traction this week but it's something I've been saying for years.

[00:22:02] If you don't actually own it, it's...

[00:22:05] It's someone else.

[00:22:06] It calm cast as all the time.

[00:22:08] If you buy a movie on Comcast digitally and you replace your cable box,

[00:22:12] you don't have it anymore.

[00:22:13] That cable box goes away.

[00:22:15] It's just...

[00:22:17] If you want to watch movies do it the right way.

[00:22:19] And two, let's say they...

[00:22:22] Okay, so we all go to digital.

[00:22:24] And Disney is like, oh well...

[00:22:26] You're gonna have to pay 40 bucks for this movie if you want it because there's nothing to stop us from charging that much

[00:22:32] because you can only get it on our platform.

[00:22:34] And that's what they want to do.

[00:22:36] They want you to have...

[00:22:38] To do what they want to do.

[00:22:40] And they did it with music at Best Buy.

[00:22:42] You can't get music at Best Buy Marks except for fucking vinyls.

[00:22:44] They took it all out.

[00:22:46] You know what? I'll pay it because I really want to see the country bears again.

[00:22:48] Exactly.

[00:22:49] But that's what I mean.

[00:22:50] They'll just...

[00:22:51] They'll eventually force you to do what you don't want to do if you're a collector.

[00:22:54] I guess when VHS came out,

[00:22:56] like the very first ones were like $100 bucks.

[00:22:58] Oh yeah, I remember.

[00:22:59] Remember Suncoast?

[00:23:00] Yeah.

[00:23:01] I used to get $30 Friday the 13th movie there.

[00:23:03] Oh man, those are the days.

[00:23:06] Yeah.

[00:23:07] 34 bucks for a DVD.

[00:23:08] Yeah.

[00:23:09] I mean it's interesting though.

[00:23:10] Like...

[00:23:11] I mean obviously I can get a bunch of them from work and whatnot but if you go to Best Buy like $5.99

[00:23:16] if you really want...

[00:23:17] Like sometimes there's a digital copy in there but honestly just start grabbing through those movies.

[00:23:20] Like you know, like you start building a library because guess what?

[00:23:24] When the nooks hit.

[00:23:25] Did all the digital files go on?

[00:23:27] And here's the nooks hit.

[00:23:28] All we're gonna want to do is watch fucking movies.

[00:23:31] And there's the thing too.

[00:23:32] That's what I want to do.

[00:23:33] Some of the older movies they don't have digitally.

[00:23:36] They just don't.

[00:23:38] I mean, I'm going through carry grants, filmography right now.

[00:23:41] You can't get...

[00:23:42] You can't get half the stuff.

[00:23:44] Yeah.

[00:23:45] Because even if if Amazon says it has it, it actually doesn't.

[00:23:48] It doesn't.

[00:23:49] It does like title unavailable bullshit.

[00:23:51] Exactly.

[00:23:52] Like only...

[00:23:53] And especially from those films from like close like 60, 70, 80 years ago.

[00:23:57] The Warner Brothers doesn't want to license them to Amazon because they want you to go to Warner Archive.

[00:24:01] Could do it.

[00:24:02] And I'm just using that as an example but like...

[00:24:05] Also there's not a big audience for them to do that.

[00:24:07] Like only the people who like you and me who want to watch him are gonna watch him.

[00:24:10] Yeah.

[00:24:11] Which sucks.

[00:24:12] So support screen factory criterion shout.

[00:24:14] Warner archive even.

[00:24:15] Yeah, Warner archives.

[00:24:16] More archives which are great stuff so.

[00:24:18] Yeah.

[00:24:19] Keep it going.

[00:24:20] Universal and Paramount technically have those two.

[00:24:22] All of...

[00:24:23] Same dude.

[00:24:24] So I'm gonna start a personal museum so if you send money as a donation to me,

[00:24:28] I'll buy movies that I want.

[00:24:30] And then I'll preserve them all.

[00:24:32] That's nice.

[00:24:33] The James Hart Blue Ray Preservation Society.

[00:24:35] There will be no Martin Scorsese films allowed.

[00:24:38] But I mean he's one of the premiere film preservationists.

[00:24:42] Yeah.

[00:24:43] You're gonna do a good video like that's exactly what they do.

[00:24:45] Yeah but no.

[00:24:47] So people should send money to me.

[00:24:49] No bread talking about it.

[00:24:50] It's a bit of a saddened money to me and I'll keep a collection.

[00:24:53] I don't like reading.

[00:24:54] No, no.

[00:24:55] Seattle.

[00:24:56] I should have dropped a room.

[00:24:58] There's a pod show it.

[00:24:59] What else we got?

[00:25:02] That's kind of it.

[00:25:04] So South Park is using them like daring comedy central to cancel them.

[00:25:11] I've been marketing point this month.

[00:25:13] It's funny that I don't know if anybody's canceling South Park.

[00:25:18] Unless those guys decided to stop making South Park but like you know whatever.

[00:25:22] They're going to have 22 years.

[00:25:24] The thing is they're rolling in so much money between the book of Mormon and the South Park licensing.

[00:25:29] They probably don't even care.

[00:25:31] Yeah.

[00:25:32] That's why they make episodes that are so funny because they don't care.

[00:25:34] Right.

[00:25:35] Like either like them or you don't.

[00:25:37] There's a thing about the predator but we'll talk about that when we get to the predator.

[00:25:41] And then I don't think any one he would be surprised that the idea that if Netflix really did roll out like unskippable ads for their own stuff in front of movies.

[00:25:51] A bunch of people would probably stop subscribing.

[00:25:54] Tits for interest doesn't care but he didn't care.

[00:25:58] I don't know if that's what you think.

[00:26:01] Do they need to generate that much more money where they have to put ads in front of it?

[00:26:05] Well so I think the because I was thinking about this the other day like especially in light of like HBO saying like well no like we're just going to roll up a whole like Warner Brothers thing and all the Warner Brothers stuff is going to be on a streaming thing.

[00:26:18] And then there's going to be a Disney one.

[00:26:20] And if you think about a weird future where you basically subscribe to a few different streaming services in order to have a complete like a huge collection based on who the like main production company is.

[00:26:34] If that's the future we got to then Netflix in order to stay alive needs to survive entirely on its own stuff.

[00:26:43] Yeah, which means it's got to get you to a place where you constantly want to have Netflix so that you can watch the you know whatever the new thing is right like they've got to become like HBO where I'm so pissing for Canton and something Joe MacKale.

[00:26:55] I know. It's really bad.

[00:26:57] It shows the price like $12. I've also I've also watched so much just over there stuff that I'm like some others a lot of this is really good.

[00:27:06] Like there's there's a lot of shit though. You like wow. I don't know this is like what is this?

[00:27:11] Oh yeah, the new co-in Brothers movie is coming to know.

[00:27:14] Yeah, like it's great. Yeah.

[00:27:17] Yeah, but like we just started watching Godless and it's I mean the first half of an episode was really good.

[00:27:24] Also they got Roma from a Quran.

[00:27:27] A lot of Quran which has been getting really good buzz so yeah it sucks because I want to I hope that that investor Scroggs come to a theater.

[00:27:36] Steve already said that they're going to do other side of the wind from Netflix the worst well film.

[00:27:42] But I think that's just because it's a fucking awesome well movie and you can sell that to the Alamo crowd.

[00:27:47] Sure, well but you would sell Joe Conrad there was something yeah, but it's just a matter of like who are they going to let show it in the theater?

[00:27:54] Yeah, it was like we don't know what Netflix wants to do with theatrical releases at this point yet.

[00:27:58] Yeah, I was going to say the other thing was that I'm X has been talking to like Amazon and Netflix and different people to try and like get theatrical releases for those you know straight to streaming films.

[00:28:10] Yeah, I'm interested.

[00:28:12] I know I need to see ridiculous six and I'm X also Henry Cavill that fire so yeah Henry Cavill got fired that's all the news there we go.

[00:28:19] Did he have heard?

[00:28:21] Why were you.

[00:28:24] Yeah, that's news did man have like it for well no he had no he disintegrated again so it you know snap.

[00:28:33] Yeah, it's a thing he does he's like a Phoenix every few years he disintegrates and then he has to slowly rebuild his career and I marry a different Jennifer look at my fucking feathers.

[00:28:43] Every time he kills his career it's from playing a superhero.

[00:28:47] Yeah, he plays a superhero gets divorced and yeah, but he's not a bad bad man though no, no it's just movies are shit.

[00:28:57] He's the best part.

[00:28:59] Yeah, he's like yeah, no mount it is interesting you know I did you guys see every time you see trailer for the Aquaman, I'm still not sold on it.

[00:29:08] Yeah, it was before the fuck I see this week predator.

[00:29:11] It was before the one I saw last week too.

[00:29:14] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:29:17] DC is trying really hard right now to be go hey, we're fun.

[00:29:22] Right and they've been trying really hard for a long time.

[00:29:25] Redheads got a lot of them.

[00:29:28] And then he does woo again.

[00:29:31] Yeah, there's so much amber heard in that trailer.

[00:29:35] There he is.

[00:29:36] I don't mind her it's like it's an amber herd movie.

[00:29:38] I want to watch it because Patrick Wilson's in it and I like Patrick Wilson.

[00:29:41] I mean obviously we're going to see it but yeah, I like James Wan too.

[00:29:45] Yeah, I'm really good movies.

[00:29:47] I hope he makes conjuring three.

[00:29:49] I'm sure I will.

[00:29:50] I just want to see first man.

[00:29:52] Yeah, not that long to wait.

[00:29:54] Can't believe you want to see it they don't show them planning the American flag.

[00:29:57] I know they don't show planting a piece of cloth.

[00:30:00] Wait, wait, wait, wait is that a problem?

[00:30:03] It is.

[00:30:04] Our people are going to have despite the fact that there are a couple of people who's a Marka Ruby or Ted Cruz like when I'm a Ruby.

[00:30:11] I went on a tiger club.

[00:30:13] Yeah, about what the fact that there's not a scene in the movie where they planted the American flag.

[00:30:18] Yep.

[00:30:20] And Ryan Gosling who by the way is Canadian because we don't show it then it doesn't happen.

[00:30:25] Yeah, but but there's so but there's also many shots of the flag according to everyone who's seen it.

[00:30:30] So Ryan Gosling said he's like yeah, I mean we didn't put in there but he said but it's also like an achievement for mankind.

[00:30:37] So we don't.

[00:30:38] Yeah, it's literally what he said.

[00:30:44] And and it doesn't matter.

[00:30:48] Yep.

[00:30:49] See now you know with the content behind that.

[00:30:51] This isn't like Superman returns where like they said three court truth thirds of it's a bird it's a plane like in or no

[00:31:01] what was the oh truth does he still stand for truth justice and all that stuff.

[00:31:06] This isn't a thing where they deliberately cut America out because oops there's an Iraq war like no this is what the fuck is wrong with people.

[00:31:16] I don't know.

[00:31:17] I don't even know what it means.

[00:31:19] I'm like do they have after show?

[00:31:21] What do you understand?

[00:31:22] Oh yeah, like I'm fairly sure they didn't show Obama's birth certificate in this movie about the Apollo missions.

[00:31:29] So clearly this is you know some kind of propaganda.

[00:31:33] No, every time I see that trailer I get really excited.

[00:31:36] Yeah, it's really good.

[00:31:37] It looks like a well made film.

[00:31:39] Steve said it was like one of his three favorite movies coming out of teleright.

[00:31:42] Nice.

[00:31:43] Yeah, I'm excited for it.

[00:31:45] I want to see it in 9 max.

[00:31:46] It's like that's really wanting me to get off my butt for I max.

[00:31:49] I normally don't do that.

[00:31:50] The shot in 9 max?

[00:31:51] I think you're supposed to sit down in the 9 max so don't get off your butt.

[00:31:55] I don't know if it was shot in 9 max.

[00:31:58] Sounds like Chazelle might go for that kind of thing.

[00:32:01] Well find out but a big screen might be cool.

[00:32:04] I'm wondering though does he dance on the moon?

[00:32:08] No, in the final moments.

[00:32:10] I would love that.

[00:32:11] No, okay, if the movie ended and like they were on the moon.

[00:32:16] And then like the camera turned around and you saw the edge of the set.

[00:32:20] And then they just walked back and started taking their clothes off and hanging them up in a room.

[00:32:25] And he was like, and you have Stanley Kubrick there.

[00:32:27] It basically was the end of Blake and Saddle.

[00:32:29] I mean, yes.

[00:32:30] There were some guys on horses rode through the moon.

[00:32:34] And now they were just revealed like, oh, the whole thing was fake.

[00:32:36] Then that would be controversial.

[00:32:40] We plants the Russian flag on them.

[00:32:42] Yeah, which is basically a, all of us.

[00:32:46] This is his last line ready to comply.

[00:32:51] No, that would be the Oliver Stone film.

[00:32:53] Yeah, Oliver Stone shit.

[00:33:00] He has not been born on the 4th of July.

[00:33:02] He hasn't been getting in a while.

[00:33:05] Anyway, that's this.

[00:33:08] This is what's coming out on Blue Raid and your local DVDs.

[00:33:15] DVD release the Blue Raid.

[00:33:18] Did I tell you I saw people buying DVDs?

[00:33:20] It blows my mind.

[00:33:22] I buy DVDs for my mother-in-law.

[00:33:25] And the reason is she likes to, she carries a little like portable DVD player around with her.

[00:33:29] So like all of the houses she's doing stuff or like she'll lay in bed and watch them.

[00:33:33] And I thought like for Christmas last year I was like, maybe I'll buy her like a little blue A player.

[00:33:37] And then that way she can get blue Raids.

[00:33:38] And then I looked.

[00:33:39] They don't fucking make portable play players because the screen is this big.

[00:33:43] What the fuck are you doing?

[00:33:44] And then you can be like my mother-in-law where they don't appreciate it being in high definition.

[00:33:48] Oh yeah, my mother-in-law has one but she doesn't care.

[00:33:52] Yeah.

[00:33:53] The only reason my parents do it is like the first time that I got some for Christmas it was when the original Star Trek came out.

[00:34:01] So I got the Blue Raid of Star Trek and my mom got the DVD.

[00:34:04] And so for Christmas we could swap them right next to each other and they could see and they were like, holy shit.

[00:34:09] Oh yeah.

[00:34:10] That looks a lot better.

[00:34:11] The texture on there.

[00:34:12] Right, on their clothes.

[00:34:13] So speaking of higher death things, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is out on 4K this week.

[00:34:20] There's also some couple different skill book versions.

[00:34:23] Which look pretty cool.

[00:34:24] No the stillbook at Best Buy is awesome.

[00:34:26] It's like just a raptor on it.

[00:34:28] Yeah, it's one for just the movie itself and then they're doing another like collection set.

[00:34:32] I don't like the collection steelbook because it like, I don't know.

[00:34:38] I like it with T-Rex on it.

[00:34:40] They bundle the new one in with it.

[00:34:42] I just want like the original one on that book.

[00:34:45] Are you getting it on 4K now, I think?

[00:34:47] The original?

[00:34:48] Not in steelbook, but in Steelbook.

[00:34:49] No, in Steelbook.

[00:34:50] You have to buy the set.

[00:34:51] Yeah.

[00:34:52] You only like the first one.

[00:34:53] You couldn't even watch the other ones.

[00:34:55] Well, I mean as far as rebying this movie for like the fifth time, like.

[00:34:59] Gotcha.

[00:35:00] The first one's the only one I care about.

[00:35:02] The 4K is not that huge of an upgrade either.

[00:35:04] If you bought it, I think on, I mean like 32 bucks on Amazon when it came out.

[00:35:08] Like the set.

[00:35:09] I don't know.

[00:35:10] I think it's still around that price at like a Best Buy.

[00:35:12] Don't remember.

[00:35:13] I like the third one because it has a talking dinosaur in it.

[00:35:16] Alan.

[00:35:17] Oh, that's right.

[00:35:19] It's hallucination.

[00:35:20] I'm like, what are you talking?

[00:35:21] Oh yeah.

[00:35:22] I mean it's not real talking but I think it's hilarious.

[00:35:24] Speaking of weird shit, the X-Files season 11 is that on Blu-ray this week.

[00:35:28] Cool.

[00:35:29] Which is the one from the last year.

[00:35:30] You know the best episode of X-Files is when they're on the Simpsons.

[00:35:33] I love when each and older shows his badge.

[00:35:38] And it's a picture of him in a bikini like laying out.

[00:35:41] So my favorite sight gags ever.

[00:35:43] I think that the hovers on the treadmill and they're just like,

[00:35:45] like he just keeps going and going right?

[00:35:47] Yeah, it's like a lava lamp.

[00:35:49] I bring you love.

[00:35:52] It's bringing us love.

[00:35:53] Kill it.

[00:35:54] Simpsons.

[00:35:55] Okay.

[00:35:56] From Criterion this week is my man God free.

[00:36:02] That is awesome because that film is stuck in the public domain garbage heap for a while.

[00:36:07] Oh really?

[00:36:08] It's from 1936.

[00:36:09] Yeah, in terms of just like no one's tried to restore it or fix it up and stuff.

[00:36:14] Sure.

[00:36:15] It's a good movie with William Powell from The Thin Man Series and Fallow Bands.

[00:36:19] It's a solid flick.

[00:36:21] I recommend you guys pick it up if you're Criterion fans.

[00:36:25] Hey.

[00:36:26] Season three of Supergirl.

[00:36:28] Is that on Blu-ray?

[00:36:29] I haven't seen season one.

[00:36:30] Yeah, it's been Supergirl.

[00:36:32] All right.

[00:36:34] And then getting into the collectible stuff.

[00:36:38] Shell Factory is being involved in a stone is putting out of the thing of Platoon.

[00:36:42] Yeah, it's deal book.

[00:36:43] Yeah, because it's owned by MGM and they are the sublicens from them all the time.

[00:36:47] So they were just like, I don't own Platoon yet so that might be my chance to pick it up.

[00:36:51] It's a good movie.

[00:36:52] No, he's not.

[00:36:53] I guess maybe I think JFK ruined it.

[00:36:56] Yeah, but I'm a little bit more personalized.

[00:36:59] It's really good.

[00:37:00] I think as a Tom Cruise's performance, but then JFK is so much garbage.

[00:37:04] Yeah, it's 20th century inserting his theories into everything.

[00:37:08] Yeah.

[00:37:09] Did you see Nixon though?

[00:37:10] The one he did with Anthony Hopkins is Nixon?

[00:37:12] No.

[00:37:13] It's really good.

[00:37:14] It doesn't like delve into it.

[00:37:16] Honestly, it has a hard time when I see Oliver Stone directed by.

[00:37:19] I kind of have this version too.

[00:37:21] Oh yeah, my eyes are right in the way.

[00:37:22] Then you may not like the Nixon one though.

[00:37:24] Not because of it contented it, but it is like a three hour long.

[00:37:27] Oh, pick.

[00:37:28] Hey, if they're good movies out here along the yard, Hopkins is a great Nixon.

[00:37:32] Very popular.

[00:37:33] There are almost three hours alone.

[00:37:34] Really?

[00:37:35] Yeah.

[00:37:36] Oh, man.

[00:37:37] Huh.

[00:37:38] So you didn't know because it's so great, it goes by so fast.

[00:37:41] Yeah.

[00:37:42] From Arrow this week is horrors of malformed men which has a beautiful painted cover.

[00:37:49] Holy shit.

[00:37:50] I don't even know what this movie is but there's like a weird rath thing coming out of the ocean

[00:37:54] and it dude standing there.

[00:37:55] I don't know.

[00:37:56] It sounds Italian.

[00:37:57] Yep.

[00:37:58] Actually, I think it's like Japanese but it's from...

[00:38:02] Who is this?

[00:38:05] Well go USA is Phantasm III, Lord of the Dead and Phantasm IV.

[00:38:11] Oblivion.

[00:38:12] Is it a oblivion?

[00:38:13] Yeah.

[00:38:14] The one where he holds a ball.

[00:38:19] I've only seen the first Phantasm.

[00:38:21] Yeah.

[00:38:22] Phantasm II is pretty good.

[00:38:23] That's what I'm saying.

[00:38:24] But this is Phantasm III and Phantasm IV.

[00:38:27] Yeah, so originally, well go USA put out number five and then they put them all in a set

[00:38:34] together and now they're doing it individually so you can see the ones you don't care about.

[00:38:40] Scream put out Phantasm II at one point right?

[00:38:42] Yeah.

[00:38:43] They don't have it anymore.

[00:38:44] But aren't they trying to get like who's putting out the first Phantasm again?

[00:38:47] It's well go USA.

[00:38:48] I have that one.

[00:38:49] I thought another company was doing it anyway.

[00:38:54] And then scream for help.

[00:38:58] I've heard this is really good.

[00:38:59] I've never seen it though.

[00:39:00] First he tried to kill mom.

[00:39:03] Now he's after me but no one believes me.

[00:39:07] Did you sort of tag on?

[00:39:09] There's two tag on.

[00:39:10] The other one is and pray there's someone out there listening.

[00:39:15] Both of these terrible.

[00:39:16] Have you heard about this from the recent shock waves on screen factory?

[00:39:22] They're upcoming releases.

[00:39:23] This is a Charles Bronson serial killer movie and it sounds awesome.

[00:39:28] Is that the screen factory one?

[00:39:30] Yeah.

[00:39:31] Yep.

[00:39:32] That sounds fucking awesome.

[00:39:33] Also from Screen Factory this week is the evil.

[00:39:37] Like the periods of the devia.

[00:39:40] Witness the awakening.

[00:39:42] And I think it's like supposed to be, I don't know what this is because there's like a ladder.

[00:39:47] It's a tomb.

[00:39:48] No, it's not a tomb.

[00:39:49] There's a ladder that goes down into it and it's like square.

[00:39:52] It's not, it's not mong rectangular like a body.

[00:39:55] Like what are these things?

[00:39:56] I think it's like a, I think it's like a, it's the hatch from lost.

[00:40:00] That's what it is.

[00:40:01] It's the hatch from lost and the evil comes out of it.

[00:40:04] Little did you know that lost was all one big sequel to the evil?

[00:40:07] You should search Evangeline Lilly where she talks about the ending to loss.

[00:40:11] It's really good.

[00:40:12] Yeah.

[00:40:13] Oh, of course.

[00:40:14] Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:40:15] No, that was really great.

[00:40:16] She's so nice.

[00:40:17] I think it's like, I'd love to meet that one.

[00:40:19] Also really an intelligent response to all the people who don't understand that.

[00:40:23] Yep, I agree.

[00:40:24] Oh, I also missed a Kiana Reeves Siberia which is some little directed DVD.

[00:40:30] I bet he goes to Siberia.

[00:40:32] Well, I bet it's cold maybe he's already there.

[00:40:34] I bet a shit.

[00:40:35] What am I doing outside of the area?

[00:40:37] What?

[00:40:38] Did you get the community complete series last week or because it's on this week.

[00:40:45] It's this week.

[00:40:46] I think yeah.

[00:40:47] Oh, it's not.

[00:40:48] Pop, pop.

[00:40:49] Yeah, it's not on Burea.com's list.

[00:40:54] Troy and Abedin.

[00:40:55] Blue, right?

[00:40:56] Yeah, I definitely.

[00:40:58] That'd be sweet if they opened it with Troy and Abedin.

[00:41:00] Hi, death.

[00:41:01] Oh, that would be fun.

[00:41:02] Yeah.

[00:41:03] If I knew that was coming, then I might.

[00:41:06] I do love me some Jeff Winger.

[00:41:09] Yeah.

[00:41:10] They reported all over all the extras too.

[00:41:14] I was worried about that for a long time.

[00:41:16] Oh, good, good.

[00:41:17] Because they didn't release them at all.

[00:41:19] The blooper reels and all that stuff were so good.

[00:41:22] Man, that shows great.

[00:41:23] Yep.

[00:41:24] There we go.

[00:41:25] That's blueris.

[00:41:26] We also watch movies throughout the week in a segment I call movies that are watched throughout

[00:41:31] the week by The Real Nerds.

[00:41:33] So, yeah, this is just stuff we've been watching.

[00:41:39] James, what you've been watching?

[00:41:40] Not a lot of different stuff to report on, but I finished Jack Ryan this week.

[00:41:46] That's good.

[00:41:47] The Amazon show.

[00:41:48] Yeah, I would totally recommend it.

[00:41:50] I think the first couple episodes, they're setting a lot of stuff up and he's very, you know,

[00:41:57] an analyst.

[00:41:59] So at the beginning there's a lot of talk about analyzing.

[00:42:02] I'm watching all these Swift transactions around the world.

[00:42:06] I want you to shoot people.

[00:42:08] But they'll get there.

[00:42:11] Yeah, I think the story they tell is really pretty good in decent.

[00:42:14] And I think John Crescigee does a great job.

[00:42:17] He called Johnny.

[00:42:19] He tends to do a lot of just like staring with no emotion on his face.

[00:42:28] And he's pretty good at it.

[00:42:29] Yeah.

[00:42:31] Yeah, actually, yeah.

[00:42:32] Basically, you could just cut his head off of this poster and just paste it on every scene

[00:42:36] and that's what he looks like.

[00:42:38] It seems like a hair to him.

[00:42:39] No, but he's doing a great job because sometimes he's smoldering.

[00:42:42] Oh, okay.

[00:42:43] Sometimes he's wounded and sometimes he's thinking.

[00:42:46] Does he sometimes look into the camera and smirk?

[00:42:48] No, but there were sometimes when you want him to.

[00:42:51] So does he kill people in it?

[00:42:53] Yes.

[00:42:54] Okay, internet listen.

[00:42:55] So when he kills somebody, cut to Jim Helpert looking at the camera going.

[00:43:01] Actually, yeah, there's a couple of good times where he like...

[00:43:04] There's a couple of good scenes in that video.

[00:43:06] And eventually we're fighting Golden Face.

[00:43:12] That's where we shot at him shooting someone in the face.

[00:43:14] And then it cuts to a reaction of Dwight across the room.

[00:43:17] Most expensive shot in the movie.

[00:43:20] Yeah.

[00:43:22] So yeah, I think it's really good.

[00:43:23] I mean if you're an Amazon Prime member...

[00:43:26] Yeah, mine's in the queue right now.

[00:43:27] Yeah, I mean it's only eight episodes.

[00:43:29] Yeah.

[00:43:30] It's easy to get through.

[00:43:31] Nice.

[00:43:32] Have hour and hour.

[00:43:33] Hour.

[00:43:34] And usually a real hour like HBO style they're like 50 minutes.

[00:43:38] You know, 55 minutes sometimes.

[00:43:39] Yeah, not that fake.

[00:43:40] And networks and that.

[00:43:41] Well, you know, not 42 minutes, right?

[00:43:43] Sometimes they're a little shorter but for the most part they're a real 50 minute episode.

[00:43:49] Yeah, I think the performances are all good.

[00:43:51] The guy who plays...

[00:43:52] ...Greer, what's his first name?

[00:43:55] Anyway, the dude like the...

[00:43:57] ...anyway you know the character if you've seen like clear and present danger or half a red October.

[00:44:03] He's rough early on.

[00:44:05] Like, first episode or two has kind of like...

[00:44:08] ...but then back it's better too.

[00:44:10] So if you start watching it and it rubbed you a little bit the wrong way,

[00:44:14] you just push through and when it really gets rolling and there's some action going on,

[00:44:18] you'll probably be happier.

[00:44:20] So yeah, I would totally recommend it.

[00:44:22] Sweet.

[00:44:23] Also watched through almost all of the staircase, which is on a Netflix.

[00:44:28] Yeah.

[00:44:29] Which is one of the really interesting popular true crime things over the last three years.

[00:44:35] You know what's funny?

[00:44:36] I first heard about that was on a forensic files.

[00:44:38] Oh yeah.

[00:44:39] When I worked overnight I used to just download the shit out of forensic files.

[00:44:43] Because it was just enough to keep me interested.

[00:44:46] So I would just plug in my iPad and just drive around and listen to it.

[00:44:51] It's like a true crime podcast.

[00:44:53] Yeah.

[00:44:54] And that's why I first heard about it.

[00:44:55] Yeah.

[00:44:56] So it tells the story of a guy who in 2001 was convicted...

[00:45:02] Well, in 2001 his wife died and maybe was murdered.

[00:45:07] He claimed that she fell backwards down the stairs, hit her head,

[00:45:11] and blooded pretty much to death while he was outside by the pool.

[00:45:16] And then the cops decided there was too much blood, and so he clearly murdered her.

[00:45:21] And it's a fascinating documentary series.

[00:45:28] You definitely...

[00:45:30] It's very similar to making a murderer or even...

[00:45:37] Serial.

[00:45:38] Where you get through it and you're kind of like...

[00:45:41] At some point it's not even about whether or not he did it.

[00:45:45] It's more about whether or not he should get convicted.

[00:45:48] Just watching how stupid some of the things that happened were.

[00:45:52] Yeah, it's really bizarre.

[00:45:53] Because I don't think it says well made as making a murderer.

[00:45:56] No, I don't agree.

[00:45:57] It drags a lot more.

[00:45:59] I think it's too long.

[00:46:00] But because I think it's like 13 episodes.

[00:46:02] It's pretty long because they do like three follow-up.

[00:46:04] Yes.

[00:46:05] So yeah, this thing it's like it was 10 episodes and then they've gone back to it.

[00:46:10] I don't know.

[00:46:11] It's... I feel the same way after I watched it with making a murderer.

[00:46:13] Actually making a murderer is more mad at the bungling of law enforcement.

[00:46:18] But at the same time you get to a point where you can see that he did it.

[00:46:21] And there's also enough or maybe he didn't.

[00:46:24] Right.

[00:46:25] But it's too...

[00:46:26] You have plenty of probably...

[00:46:28] Or you have plenty of reasonable doubt.

[00:46:31] Yeah exactly.

[00:46:32] And so that's where it just gets...

[00:46:33] It almost gets frustrating.

[00:46:35] Yeah because I mean...

[00:46:36] It's yeah, I mean she died horribly.

[00:46:39] Yeah.

[00:46:40] So it's...

[00:46:41] The biggest problem and not that I want to get into it too much but just because of this.

[00:46:45] My problem is when you get to a there is no murder weapon and there's in my opinion not really a motive.

[00:46:51] I just don't like...

[00:46:52] I don't know how you can evict anyone.

[00:46:54] Like if you can't really establish a motive that makes sense.

[00:46:57] I just don't know how...

[00:46:59] You know other than there are crazy serial killer but that makes sense either.

[00:47:03] So anyway it's one where there's some really bizarre stuff in the story that makes you understand why somebody would...

[00:47:12] Believe it, you know?

[00:47:13] And he's weird too.

[00:47:14] He is weird but then the more...

[00:47:16] I feel like the more you spend time with him the more I'm like oh I think you might just be weird.

[00:47:20] Yeah that's what I mean to you.

[00:47:21] Not crazy.

[00:47:22] I think you might just be weird and that's okay.

[00:47:24] Yeah.

[00:47:25] It's fascinating.

[00:47:27] Yeah.

[00:47:28] I don't know that if you're in that place where you are enjoying watching a lot of true crime,

[00:47:33] if you're somebody who watches a lot of...

[00:47:35] or listens to a lot of my favorite murder for example which I do.

[00:47:39] Then yeah you should check this out just because it's a decent one and an interesting story so.

[00:47:44] Yeah.

[00:47:45] Yeah.

[00:47:46] Cool.

[00:47:47] Yeah fuck it let's talk about this.

[00:47:52] I started listening through all of the Harry Potter books on audiobook.

[00:47:58] And as like every other book or so, I'll pause and listen to something else and then go back.

[00:48:05] And then after I finish them I've been watching back through the movies.

[00:48:09] And what I will say is this.

[00:48:11] I'm actually having some of the books with some parts of them like Goblet of Fire I just think is not very good.

[00:48:18] Like there are a lot of parts of that book that just were not great.

[00:48:21] But for the most part I'm like okay these are really fun and now when I go back to the movies

[00:48:26] I realize why the movies are so bad but the movies are still fucking really bad.

[00:48:30] And they keep getting worse and part of it is I...

[00:48:33] So I've watched through Goblet of Fire which is all the ones I originally saw.

[00:48:36] And so I do feel like the first one's good, as a good entry into the world,

[00:48:43] you know it's wondrous and you're meeting all this new stuff.

[00:48:46] And then as you go, especially by the time you get to Goblet of Fire

[00:48:50] then they start changing things and some of those things don't make any sense.

[00:48:53] And so just random shit starts happening.

[00:48:55] And that's when like now I see it, I think from a different point of view where

[00:48:59] I know what's supposed to have happened and I know the backstory on some things and I'm like

[00:49:03] oh if I'd known this in the movie

[00:49:06] I probably wouldn't have been so frustrated by like why this randomness has occurred.

[00:49:12] But the exciting part is what's coming up which is you know when we reviewed Deathly Hallows Part 2

[00:49:19] which I think we did or we just saw it together.

[00:49:22] Okay, when we reviewed Deathly Hallows Part 2

[00:49:25] I had not seen Order of the Phoenix Half-Blood Prince or Deathly Hallows Part 3.

[00:49:31] So now we're getting to a point where the next three books and movies I finished Order of the Phoenix

[00:49:37] which is maybe my favorite one so far.

[00:49:39] That one, there's some cartoonish silly stuff but you know whatever it's for kids.

[00:49:44] Like the villain in that book is silly but whatever.

[00:49:47] But that one like just horrible, I hate her.

[00:49:51] So now as I go into the movies I will have not seen the movie before and then it's

[00:49:58] this is going to be a bit more fascinating.

[00:50:00] So 2012?

[00:50:03] Right, 12?

[00:50:04] Deathly Hallows?

[00:50:05] Oh, 2011.

[00:50:06] It must have been...

[00:50:07] 11.

[00:50:08] Because part 1 came out in 2010 and no longer...

[00:50:10] Okay, I know we saw it together.

[00:50:12] We may not have actually reviewed it but it was definitely on our film's explosion

[00:50:17] because it was Ryan's number one of that film of that year.

[00:50:21] We must have reviewed it though because it would have been later in the summer

[00:50:25] when we started the show.

[00:50:26] I think I don't remember.

[00:50:27] Well, I don't...

[00:50:28] Because it came out in 2011, summer 2011.

[00:50:31] We have.

[00:50:32] I've...

[00:50:33] I know that's what he's looking at.

[00:50:34] Yeah, the New York City Hallows must be it.

[00:50:35] And it came out after...

[00:50:37] First class so you guys did do an episode on that.

[00:50:39] Okay, yeah.

[00:50:40] So it's episode 7.

[00:50:41] Okay.

[00:50:42] Yeah.

[00:50:43] So book 7 episodes 7.

[00:50:46] Movie 8.

[00:50:47] Oh, that's right.

[00:50:48] Get fucked.

[00:50:49] Yeah, all three of us were on it.

[00:50:50] Yeah.

[00:50:51] Well, yeah.

[00:50:52] None of us had anything else going on back then.

[00:50:54] So anyway, it's interesting.

[00:50:57] I will check in in probably a few weeks.

[00:51:00] I may not say anything else about this until I'm done with it.

[00:51:04] When I typed it into Google, it's showing at the Highlands Ranch 24 on the 23rd of September.

[00:51:09] Hey, Harry Potter, these...

[00:51:10] It's got a lot of Marvel stuff to do.

[00:51:12] Oh, okay.

[00:51:13] Oh, okay.

[00:51:14] Not all the movies are great but I enjoy watching them.

[00:51:17] I think the deadly hallows too is great.

[00:51:19] No, no, I'm the first part is too.

[00:51:21] But if we're talking about like all eight, like not everyone's like us.

[00:51:23] Oh, yeah.

[00:51:24] It's like it's pretty solid.

[00:51:25] That third one is still amazing.

[00:51:26] I fucking love it.

[00:51:27] And I think the sixth one is beautifully shot.

[00:51:30] Even though movies...

[00:51:31] They're good movies.

[00:51:32] My problem with Half Blood Prince is that it screws up its title by not like elaborating on

[00:51:41] the Half Blood Prince too much, which is big in the book.

[00:51:45] Yeah.

[00:51:46] I get why you're doing it.

[00:51:48] I haven't seen it.

[00:51:49] No, I really like him.

[00:51:51] It's me and James will get a fight very often on the podcast but that's one of them in

[00:51:54] the Hunger Games.

[00:51:55] Yeah.

[00:51:56] Hunger Games movies are terrible.

[00:51:58] So we...

[00:51:59] Catnip that brings...

[00:52:00] That was the last one.

[00:52:01] Deadly Hallows Part 2, yeah.

[00:52:04] Was our seventh episode?

[00:52:05] So we...

[00:52:06] No, I thought we were rewrapping more Harry Potter in our time doing this.

[00:52:10] No, we did a lot of Twilight and we did a lot of fucking Hunger Games.

[00:52:13] Hobbits.

[00:52:14] That was probably the longest week of my life.

[00:52:16] And Transformers.

[00:52:17] And I'm putting that up with like, you know, Grandparents and pets dying.

[00:52:22] There's a lot of...

[00:52:23] Wait, wait, is it grandparents dying or just grandparents in general?

[00:52:27] Just grand...

[00:52:28] Like weeks with grandparents.

[00:52:29] Well, so...

[00:52:30] Okay, so let me...

[00:52:32] So, scale it back.

[00:52:33] So my grandfather died and I'm sad for like four or five days and I'm like, oh this

[00:52:38] is horrible.

[00:52:39] But then that week where I watched every single Twilight leading up to whatever one we saw

[00:52:44] on the theaters.

[00:52:45] The fourth one.

[00:52:46] I remember sitting there and having the biggest headache and my eyes hurt.

[00:52:49] Yeah.

[00:52:50] Because you're rolling on too much.

[00:52:53] I'm absorbing all of this...

[00:52:55] That's true.

[00:52:58] I am absorbing all of this crap and I'm trying to regurgitate it and when I say it out loud

[00:53:04] it sounds so dull.

[00:53:05] Oh, I'm pretty sure that watching Twilight makes it really easy to regurgitate things.

[00:53:09] Yes.

[00:53:10] And I'll be honest, I wouldn't...

[00:53:12] The last step one happened.

[00:53:14] Everyone was dying like, okay, this is what I want to see.

[00:53:16] And then they undo it.

[00:53:18] Yeah, I know.

[00:53:19] It's so good.

[00:53:20] I've definitely recommended it before but you need to like maybe at least for the final

[00:53:26] one revisit it with the Ref tracks commentary because when that moment comes up and then

[00:53:31] it turns out it's just a dream.

[00:53:32] You hear Bill Corbin or Kevin Murphy wanted to just yell, what the fuck?

[00:53:36] Yeah, it's so ridiculous.

[00:53:39] It's ridiculous.

[00:53:40] It's not like we're 50 shades.

[00:53:42] I can watch my other boobs in it.

[00:53:43] Yeah, like 50 shades you watch it.

[00:53:45] Like this is so stupid that you're laughing every few minutes and it's ridiculous.

[00:53:50] I find them both egregiously dumb.

[00:53:52] No, they're both garbage films.

[00:53:55] Oh yeah.

[00:53:56] But in those 50...

[00:53:57] I guess, why?

[00:53:58] Dude, they're both garbage books.

[00:54:00] Yeah.

[00:54:01] So your garbage books about like, oh, you got to let a man dominate your life.

[00:54:04] I'm just like nah, I'm good man.

[00:54:06] 50 sheets freed is disappointingly not bad enough.

[00:54:09] Because there's no freaking helicopter crash ratios.

[00:54:13] Like the funniest part.

[00:54:14] The funniest part and the best ongoing joke is why didn't you change your email?

[00:54:19] It's been 25 minutes.

[00:54:21] That's like the only part of that movie that's so bad, it's funny.

[00:54:24] And then the rest of it goes like this doesn't make any sense.

[00:54:27] Anyway, anyways.

[00:54:28] That's what I've been watching.

[00:54:30] Zach?

[00:54:31] Actually, not a lot because we recorded literally on Monday recently.

[00:54:36] So it was pretty quick.

[00:54:37] So I only watched a couple things.

[00:54:40] I'm continuing my universal monster dissection.

[00:54:43] I'm going on.

[00:54:44] I know you just love to have images burned into your TV.

[00:54:46] Every time I'm down here, you have something stuck on there.

[00:54:48] Well yeah, because I was trying...

[00:54:50] I was gonna pop that in before you guys came in and watched Where Will For London, but

[00:54:54] we'll have to wait for next week.

[00:54:55] But I did watch Brighton Frankenstein again as part of the...

[00:54:58] I think it sounds brilliant.

[00:54:59] Because I'm going in order chronologically.

[00:55:01] Yeah, I love the invisible man as like a personal favorite, but that is undeniably the best

[00:55:05] universal monster would be ever made.

[00:55:06] Yeah, universal question.

[00:55:07] I mean, a visible man is my favorite one just because I love...

[00:55:12] Because he's just a straight-up murderer.

[00:55:14] Yeah, and he's a bad guy.

[00:55:15] Yeah, and he's in Claude Reigns is amazing.

[00:55:18] But Brighton Frankenstein, like best production design, easily the best script of that run

[00:55:24] of monster movies.

[00:55:26] Carloft's incredible in it.

[00:55:28] The thing that I always find a different angle each time I watch those films.

[00:55:34] And with this one, I was like really watching the side characters and Una O'Connor who's

[00:55:39] in this film and an invisible man as a really over-the-top performance.

[00:55:44] She's astounding in the film.

[00:55:46] She's truly hysterical.

[00:55:48] And Ernest Thessinger who plays Dr. Pretorius and Brighton Frankenstein is one of the finest

[00:55:53] cinematic villains in any genre because he's just...

[00:55:58] He's so immensely watchable, it's insane.

[00:56:03] And I also think the prologue at the beginning of Brighton Frankenstein is one of the most

[00:56:06] genius ways to enter into that kind of film.

[00:56:10] Or it's just like, oh, if we got Lord Byron over here and we got Percy Shelley and we

[00:56:15] got Mary Shelley.

[00:56:16] And she wrote a scary story but that's not all of it.

[00:56:20] And it's just wonderful.

[00:56:23] But next is where Wolf of London and Son of Frankenstein are basically going in order

[00:56:26] that they were released.

[00:56:30] I saw a movie about a rivalry.

[00:56:33] Oh yeah.

[00:56:34] It's called Rush.

[00:56:35] Oh, it's okay.

[00:56:36] Finally, yeah, I don't know why I put this off for so long.

[00:56:39] I think it was a Ron Howard movie I wasn't really thinking of.

[00:56:41] Now I think about it nothing but Rush.

[00:56:44] This movie was fucking awesome.

[00:56:46] If anybody out there doesn't know what Rush is about, it's about a rivalry.

[00:56:50] It's about a rivalry between two Formula One racers specifically.

[00:56:57] But so like, the movies, it's incredibly like just like efficient well executed drama.

[00:57:08] It doesn't have to go too dark or deep.

[00:57:10] It goes in the right level of water that it needs to go in terms of emotion.

[00:57:15] This is the best Chris Hemsworth performance I've ever seen.

[00:57:19] I mean outside of Thor, you can't count Thor necessarily but in terms of him giving

[00:57:24] a outside MC of performance, Daniel Broles incredible in the film.

[00:57:30] I knew nothing about the story going in so that one so when he gets in that crash and

[00:57:35] is going through his recovery with his face and the burns, I'm like, uh, uh, uh, when

[00:57:39] they shove that thing down his fucking throat and he's just like do it again.

[00:57:43] I was like, oh, he's shit because he's angry because Chris Hemsworth's winning all his

[00:57:47] races and he should be on their run.

[00:57:50] His race is with with fucking Ferrari.

[00:57:52] So I, uh, I got this win.

[00:57:54] Trace Mars going out of business and it's still in the wrapper.

[00:57:57] Ooh, I got this for $5.99 in the bin.

[00:58:01] I forget what I paid full price because I know what this movie is fucking worth.

[00:58:05] I forgot what I got for it.

[00:58:07] It was used at 75% on surprise nine.

[00:58:09] I probably got for like 250.

[00:58:11] I don't remember.

[00:58:12] Um, but I mean it's about a rivalry.

[00:58:14] Yeah, yeah, I don't know if you know that they say that in the movie too a couple of

[00:58:17] times.

[00:58:18] They remind you this is about a rivalry.

[00:58:20] But honestly, like this is probably among my Ron Howard film selections.

[00:58:26] Like in terms of my favorites of his are really weird.

[00:58:28] Like I really love Frostnix and I think it's an amazing film even though it's a talking

[00:58:32] head piece.

[00:58:34] And then I think DaVinci code is really great inspired of what other people think.

[00:58:38] But again, it's fun.

[00:58:39] It's super fun.

[00:58:40] It's super fun.

[00:58:41] Like I've already told you I love the Robert Langdon movies, um, even though Inferno's

[00:58:45] weird.

[00:58:47] But this might be one of the like among the best things he's ever directed.

[00:58:52] I would probably put it a beautiful mind, this and Frostnix in if I'm going for just his

[00:58:57] filmography because rushed like feels different.

[00:59:04] Like it's like the it's the most visually distinct film I've seen him make.

[00:59:09] Part of it made me realize like it is about 30 minutes in.

[00:59:12] I was like, oh yeah, Ron Howard made a lot of car movies for Roger Korman.

[00:59:17] So this isn't necessarily him like, like, homaging that period.

[00:59:22] But you can tell like he's having fun revisiting an era that he grew up in and like was gaining

[00:59:30] it's straight.

[00:59:31] He did a grand theft auto.

[00:59:32] Yeah.

[00:59:33] No, shut up.

[00:59:34] Um, but no, it's just like it's interesting to see like and he's really good at shooting

[00:59:38] car scenes like I mean between that and solo this year.

[00:59:41] I'm like, wow, he is really good at a car chase.

[00:59:43] Like maybe that's his trademark.

[00:59:45] I don't know like it's hard to place, but I honestly did come to the conclusion by the

[00:59:50] end of it.

[00:59:51] I'm like, Ron Howard might be the most solid biopic director of this generation because

[00:59:56] like he's done a lot of them and each one of them is at least of good quality if not

[01:00:03] excellent quality like Cinderella man, not the best movie in the world, but still a solid

[01:00:08] watch.

[01:00:09] Beautiful mind and excellent film.

[01:00:12] I mean, Rush another great example like Frost Nixon not necessarily a biopic so much

[01:00:17] as a I'd say it's close.

[01:00:19] Yeah.

[01:00:20] So like I think he's really good at true life in a way that or in terms of like making

[01:00:24] accessible for audiences.

[01:00:27] So like maybe that's his like signature style one.

[01:00:30] And Apollo 13.

[01:00:31] Yeah.

[01:00:32] So but yeah, Rush, if you haven't seen this amazing flick check it out.

[01:00:39] Do what James did pay full price like I actually probably should send a check to imagine

[01:00:44] entertainment for $13 or something.

[01:00:46] Probably they lost money on it.

[01:00:47] That's yeah, I mean that so it's taking me two years to get one of you to watch it.

[01:00:51] They primarily sell in that in Europe though like I'm looking at the background information

[01:00:56] on it on Wikipedia and stuff like this was primarily like a big British release for

[01:01:01] that like your films understand that one.

[01:01:03] Yeah, exactly where is we don't and I get it.

[01:01:07] And then last two things I watched was I watched a PBS documentary on Nixon spoiler alert

[01:01:13] he resigned.

[01:01:15] And then I just started watching one on white D.I.

[01:01:18] Dwight D. Eisenhower which and I was telling James this before we started I when I read

[01:01:24] about World War II, I read about like individual battles and kind of like the overall scope,

[01:01:27] but I never really have gone into the generals like the specific generals except for maybe

[01:01:34] Montgomery and that's only because like his stories is stories pretty fascinating in

[01:01:38] terms of like how he gets shafted around.

[01:01:41] But Eisenhower's one is interesting, I'm halfway through it right now so he hasn't won the

[01:01:48] war yet.

[01:01:49] I'm hoping he does.

[01:01:50] What is interesting though is like so they said that he when he arrived in France after

[01:01:54] D day he didn't stay he didn't go there to stay in Paris.

[01:02:00] He went to Versailles and he said he couldn't stay in Paris because there was too much

[01:02:03] temptation to go nightclubbing and I was just like oh I just imagine like 60 year old

[01:02:09] Dwight D.I.'s and Howard and France just fucking like shot shot shot shot shot I invented

[01:02:15] the beach.

[01:02:16] Like I just like celebrating his tits off you know it would have been or it's like I can

[01:02:20] say in Versailles like the most extravagant home ever.

[01:02:23] Yeah well yeah because he also you know we weren't even done yet at that point here.

[01:02:27] He goes up to the like the Russian gangster room.

[01:02:31] He pulls back the curtain and he's like bitches come and then bitches come in.

[01:02:37] We like that's a triple X I don't just use the phrase bitches come a lot.

[01:02:41] The when I went to Versailles my favorite story ever is as with my friend Brandon and when

[01:02:48] we were at Versailles there was a lot of Japanese tourists and they would just push you out

[01:02:53] of the way to take pictures of whatever they're taking pictures of a Versailles beautiful

[01:02:58] place.

[01:02:59] They kept on doing that to me and Brandon then Brandon started falling around taking pictures

[01:03:03] of them and they're trying to run.

[01:03:05] They're like running from him in this cat the castle Versailles and it was pretty funny.

[01:03:10] Why are they taking pictures of me because Brandon had enough of them just pushing him

[01:03:13] out of the way to take pictures of a chair.

[01:03:17] But anyway yeah so far Eisenhower's life pretty interesting.

[01:03:21] Yeah I can't wait to see what he does next.

[01:03:23] I don't know but he'll become president you never know.

[01:03:25] I forget I have a book on him I recommend it to you when I remember the title.

[01:03:28] Might just be Eisenhower.

[01:03:29] I can't remember.

[01:03:30] I think if I'm going to read white maybe white.

[01:03:34] But if I see another documentary though on a general I think I might want it to be Marshall.

[01:03:42] I know a lot about Patton mainly because there's a great movie where he's standing in front

[01:03:46] of a flag but Marshall is the one where I think like because like it's interesting if he

[01:03:51] did not go back to Washington at Roosevelt's request he would have been leading D-Day.

[01:03:58] And there was talk that he should have but Roosevelt really wanted Marshall at his side

[01:04:03] in Washington to like step off his nerves so yeah interesting stuff.

[01:04:09] Yeah anyway that's what I've been watching.

[01:04:11] Brad you know just thinking if the the Da Vinci code follows like most modern franchise

[01:04:16] like ARCs the fourth one will be a reboot so Tom Hanks will be out but it'll just be called

[01:04:22] Robert Langdon.

[01:04:23] Yeah.

[01:04:24] We're starting calling Hanks.

[01:04:26] Yes please.

[01:04:27] Da Vinci code they just take the the off or the code yeah the Da Vinci.

[01:04:33] They're based on oh you just call it duck code with 50 cent.

[01:04:42] Yeah.

[01:04:43] Yeah you were placed the whole cast with black people you call it duck code this is terrible

[01:04:49] cover writers.

[01:04:52] You're not a Curtis Jackson James wrong it's Tyler Perry duck code.

[01:05:00] No they mean they still got to do the last symbol from that series of books which is

[01:05:04] one I really want them to do in Fernos weird as a story to begin with so.

[01:05:10] So I rewatched waiting that was a lot of fun haven't seen that in a while.

[01:05:12] I was in a while.

[01:05:13] That was great like it encapsulates.

[01:05:16] I'm sure you know.

[01:05:17] Oh yeah.

[01:05:18] So I'm going to go to the service food service industry experience like every.

[01:05:24] Every common thing you can think of that you've ever experienced there they put in that

[01:05:29] movie it's great.

[01:05:30] That's Ryan Reynolds of wilder years and every watch dodgeball.

[01:05:34] Dane Cook is in that movie.

[01:05:36] Yeah.

[01:05:37] I love dodge ball.

[01:05:38] Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine?

[01:05:41] No but it's sterile and I love the taste.

[01:05:44] The interesting thing is I listen to the commentary.

[01:05:47] If you listen to the commentary that I'll before no it's right off the off the bat it's

[01:05:52] Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn arguing with the director and then about half an hour in

[01:05:57] the movie the fight breaks out and the director leaves and then Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn

[01:06:03] get bored and they leave and then the recording guys.

[01:06:09] The director comes back and they like try to figure out what they're going to do to

[01:06:13] finish the commentary.

[01:06:14] So then they just play the commentary to there's something about Mary sort of lines up

[01:06:19] to what's going on.

[01:06:21] So they're referencing different people except for Ben Stiller but a lot of it does match

[01:06:26] with that's crazy.

[01:06:28] Yeah, so it's probably just a big setup then.

[01:06:31] I mean I'm sure it has to be yeah it has to be fake but it goes on for so long and there's

[01:06:38] no like it's what they argue about.

[01:06:41] So Ben Stiller's late so it's the director and Vince Vaughn and Vince Vaughn's convincing

[01:06:45] him like he was late on set you know you shouldn't tolerate this stuff.

[01:06:49] And so Ben Stiller walks into the room happy go lucky and doesn't realize that they've

[01:06:54] been talking shit about him.

[01:06:56] So the director is in a bad mood and then while they're sitting there trying to talk about

[01:07:01] the movie and Vince Vaughn saying like hey we should probably be talking about the movie

[01:07:04] the director and Ben Stiller just kind of like take little snipes at each other back and

[01:07:08] forth and they just get worse and worse and worse.

[01:07:10] Awesome.

[01:07:12] Until the director throws his hands in there and leaves.

[01:07:16] Yeah it goes on for like 30 minutes and there's not it doesn't seem like anyone is trying

[01:07:21] to think up stuff on the fly it seems but also doesn't seem rehearsed either.

[01:07:26] He's not worked with Ben Stiller since then.

[01:07:30] Yeah his most recent film Sky Scraper.

[01:07:34] So yeah that was interesting I never listened to that before.

[01:07:41] Because there's no way they would just leave that on the disc.

[01:07:43] Oh yeah no he's definitely still fake.

[01:07:47] But after everyone leaves there's you know you hear in the background this little conversation

[01:07:50] between him and also like Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller after the director leaves they start

[01:07:54] picking on the recording guys like it's turned into told divas and you know bring me my chips

[01:07:59] or whatever um yeah so yeah after they leave the recording you get in the background

[01:08:05] I read it.

[01:08:09] In a book.

[01:08:11] I got some DVDs in my car.

[01:08:12] He's playing one of those.

[01:08:14] Oh hi Gated expects you here.

[01:08:17] You invited me.

[01:08:20] I love when Ben Stiller is a douchebag because he plays like his I think of

[01:08:25] dodgeball as a sequel to heavyweights because yes it's like he's the same character in heavyweights

[01:08:30] and then in dodgeball it's just him later and that's really good I like that

[01:08:35] joke no worries.

[01:08:36] I also forgot about Steve the pirate.

[01:08:37] Oh yeah just a weird like what's going to help me enjoy all this treasure.

[01:08:46] After he stops being a pirate.

[01:08:48] Jason Bateman's great in that.

[01:08:52] That movie is awesome.

[01:08:53] That writer director also is in easy A.

[01:08:56] He plays Quizdo's guy.

[01:08:59] It's the first thing on his item to be under known for Quizdo's guy.

[01:09:03] And then director of skyscraper.

[01:09:05] And then the director of skyscraper in dodgeball.

[01:09:09] Maybe they did have a falling out maybe.

[01:09:12] Well he did a 2017 short like play dodgeball with us.

[01:09:15] Oh yeah I saw that yeah so maybe not.

[01:09:18] This is all the hoax.

[01:09:19] I don't know how people work.

[01:09:21] This is not reality.

[01:09:22] I don't know how people work.

[01:09:24] At the drive-in I got to watch crazy rich Asians.

[01:09:27] How was that?

[01:09:28] Are they crazy or crazy rich?

[01:09:29] I don't know.

[01:09:31] I also fell asleep in the middle and that's because I was bored so.

[01:09:34] Pretty good.

[01:09:35] You're still of approval?

[01:09:36] Yeah I don't know it's...

[01:09:39] I just couldn't get into it.

[01:09:40] I don't know.

[01:09:41] It wasn't my thing.

[01:09:42] I think he had to be looking for something

[01:09:44] which is when I was looking for it.

[01:09:45] So yeah I found it and then I'm happy with it.

[01:09:49] Yeah my folks thought they said it was kind of empty.

[01:09:54] So they weren't rich.

[01:09:55] Yeah like that lifestyle was impressed me and then crazy for ages.

[01:10:00] It boils down to the fiance is just trying to impress

[01:10:04] the guy's mom and she's making a heart on her so.

[01:10:07] But she does have a cool like come up into the end which I was like on board for.

[01:10:11] It's fucking punchers her?

[01:10:12] Yeah.

[01:10:13] She's her in the face.

[01:10:14] Yeah.

[01:10:14] It's intense.

[01:10:15] Yeah.

[01:10:16] But there's no blood so they got the PU 13.

[01:10:18] Sure.

[01:10:19] No she's like playing majong with her mom

[01:10:23] and you know she's declined the...

[01:10:25] Should I say this?

[01:10:26] Probably not.

[01:10:28] Yeah no.

[01:10:28] I'm glad you asked the question.

[01:10:30] It's not...

[01:10:30] I don't...

[01:10:31] I wouldn't call it empty like it...

[01:10:32] It definitely follows the tropes of a romantic comedy.

[01:10:35] I think what's interesting is that it has a personality about it

[01:10:38] that has been absent from most studio-round comms.

[01:10:43] John Chu puts a lot of personality into that.

[01:10:46] Like that.

[01:10:47] I don't think otherwise would have been there.

[01:10:51] But yeah.

[01:10:52] I like that fish for sure.

[01:10:54] And then I also watched the nun.

[01:10:57] Or I think the first 20 minutes before I again fell asleep.

[01:11:00] Because it was so scary!

[01:11:02] No it's not.

[01:11:03] It takes a while for that movie to get going.

[01:11:05] Yeah.

[01:11:06] But once it does, it...

[01:11:08] It's not bad.

[01:11:09] Goes all over the place.

[01:11:11] It's almost too fantastical for the universe it's in.

[01:11:14] Yeah I don't know because I haven't seen any of the other

[01:11:17] conjuring universe stuff.

[01:11:18] No that's actually...

[01:11:19] I don't know.

[01:11:19] That's a very accurate statement because like it...

[01:11:22] It's almost like the biggest of them all and yet it shouldn't be.

[01:11:26] It's all in city it's conjuring...

[01:11:29] No it's just conjuring in Annabelle.

[01:11:31] Oh okay.

[01:11:33] Yeah so in Annabelle the doll is just possessed by a demon

[01:11:39] so the demon tries to get out and do things.

[01:11:41] In this it's...

[01:11:43] It's like a dark lord or something.

[01:11:44] Yeah so like Valek is...

[01:11:47] So he's...

[01:11:48] Valek is also the demon in conjuring one and two but they try to give him

[01:11:52] or her or whatever you want to say it.

[01:11:55] A backstory and they...

[01:11:56] Unless they...

[01:11:56] Anyways.

[01:11:57] And they give...

[01:11:58] I mean the blood of Christ is in this and so it's...

[01:12:01] It veers really hard into supernatural stuff.

[01:12:04] Yeah James in order to defeat evil you have to have the actual

[01:12:09] god honest blood of Jesus, age, Christ.

[01:12:12] Yeah and I don't know why it's that...

[01:12:13] Which has been put in a vile by the Vatican.

[01:12:15] Yeah I don't know why it's not dry.

[01:12:17] What?

[01:12:17] Yeah it's...

[01:12:18] No see you're wrong because I saw it in the movie called The None.

[01:12:21] Yeah I have one of Paul's finger bones.

[01:12:23] I'll sell it to you for 500 bucks.

[01:12:25] How did he lose his eye?

[01:12:26] Because I woke up after that.

[01:12:28] The priest?

[01:12:29] Yeah.

[01:12:30] How did he lose his eyeball?

[01:12:32] He had a bandage over his eye.

[01:12:33] Maybe it was just his forehead.

[01:12:35] I don't...

[01:12:35] No it's after he's like buried alive.

[01:12:38] Something he fights for.

[01:12:39] Yeah I'll have to hurt or something.

[01:12:40] He's either...

[01:12:41] Oh no he's fighting the...

[01:12:42] The embodiment of that boy that he failed to get.

[01:12:45] Oh that's right that's right.

[01:12:47] I don't remember exactly how the boy does it but...

[01:12:50] You know...

[01:12:52] I do know that Tessa Farminga is really good at spitting Jesus blood at demons.

[01:12:57] Oh shit.

[01:12:58] Yeah she...

[01:12:58] Because like...

[01:12:59] Oh you missed the ending?

[01:13:01] Yeah no she...

[01:13:02] Basically she's valix trying to grab the blood of Christ to get rid of it but like Tessa Farminga

[01:13:08] has been clever.

[01:13:09] She drank Jesus blood and then spits it.

[01:13:12] And then she gets super strong.

[01:13:15] She starts punching fucking demons in the face.

[01:13:18] You know it's...

[01:13:20] That's how you get Jesus...

[01:13:21] I'll talk about it in the power of Christ compels you.

[01:13:24] In the predator as well.

[01:13:26] Sometimes I hate when horror films or there's a monster where

[01:13:30] they do it and Jason goes to hell too so like Jason like punches through a dude and rips his heart out

[01:13:36] in this you know valix can make people like disembodiment break their bones and stuff but when

[01:13:40] they get to the main characters valix tries to drown her like why isn't she just rip her head off?

[01:13:47] I feel like...

[01:13:48] You know what I mean?

[01:13:49] Maybe she wants maybe valix wants her to suffer like...

[01:13:52] Or it's just Tessa for me as a star.

[01:13:55] You know Tessa for...

[01:13:56] Well no it's just...

[01:13:57] It's just...

[01:13:57] Which isn't as bad as...

[01:13:58] So...

[01:13:58] Suffer from break all your bones.

[01:14:00] Yeah so yeah exactly so I mean and Jason goes to hell he's punching like hearts out of people

[01:14:04] and then at the end he fights the dorkiest dude named Steven and he tips over like a jungle gem

[01:14:09] and punches him.

[01:14:10] Why is he just ripping them in half?

[01:14:12] Well...

[01:14:12] I'm out of ideas.

[01:14:13] Yeah.

[01:14:14] There's a jokal gem.

[01:14:15] It's almost as if Jason goes to hell as a flawed film.

[01:14:18] Yeah no but I mean Jason goes...

[01:14:20] I'm just using Zan because a lot of horror films do that where the monsters are super powerful

[01:14:25] then they're like oh we're not gonna do this.

[01:14:27] We're gonna drown him at jokum or whatever.

[01:14:29] No I'm not telling you.

[01:14:30] I don't know again like it...

[01:14:31] Like it's...

[01:14:32] It's certainly like not as bad as the first Danabelle but...

[01:14:37] No no like I said...

[01:14:38] It's just...

[01:14:39] Again like my biggest issue is is Damien Bersher is a really good actor and I want to see more of

[01:14:44] him in that movie or at least develop him better.

[01:14:47] Does he play Chris's blood?

[01:14:49] No.

[01:14:50] He plays a father sent by the Vatican.

[01:14:52] Yeah and he has issues in his past because he had an exorcism that went wrong and

[01:15:00] he's regretted it ever since but it's underdeveloped and kind of means nothing in the long run.

[01:15:06] Sorry Brad, did not...

[01:15:07] So Brad did you like it?

[01:15:09] Uh I don't know if I can give a fair assessment if I can only assess the 20 minutes movie that I watched.

[01:15:17] And that's no, I don't know.

[01:15:20] And I'm not on board for finding out like the rest of it.

[01:15:24] Zaga or whatever.

[01:15:25] Anyway the other thing I watched is Thief which is James Conn.

[01:15:29] I watched it because it's a criterion and it got like a lot of people say like this is

[01:15:35] like drive kind of ripped it off.

[01:15:38] Well I mean the font style for the cover.

[01:15:42] And the music I guess, the Tandrean Dream soundtrack is very similar to

[01:15:47] the drive soundtrack but Thief was also made when that music was popular.

[01:15:51] Yeah and he drives around sometimes in a car so there's that but other than that like

[01:15:59] I did not enjoy it that much because James Conn's character is a huge

[01:16:03] he's a thief.

[01:16:05] And his character is a dick because he uh he's like...

[01:16:09] James Conn.

[01:16:10] He's into this yeah, he's into this uh waitress at the uh

[01:16:16] and then he's a baby driver stole from this.

[01:16:18] Yeah okay.

[01:16:20] I think baby drivers acknowledge that they

[01:16:23] that he uh is one of the inspirations for anyway uh but then like he meets up with her for a date

[01:16:29] like he was late so she's a really upset.

[01:16:31] And he like throws her around and like forces her to like continue going in the day

[01:16:34] and they go somewhere else and um you know confesses how like how much like he's in love with her.

[01:16:40] It's very possessive and just like uh

[01:16:43] that drop of old man.

[01:16:46] But yeah it's a standard uh you know he has a certain code of like I only do these jobs this way

[01:16:52] and then you know this crime boss comes along and says like you know I'll pay you a lot more

[01:16:56] to do this one thing that kind of breaks your rules.

[01:16:59] And he's like okay well you convinced me.

[01:17:02] The money convinces me.

[01:17:03] Staking out the yeah.

[01:17:05] I'm a capitalist.

[01:17:06] I'm a communist.

[01:17:06] I'm actually pretty sure it's too big to pass this up.

[01:17:09] I guess I could let some of these rules slide and of course you know after they stake it out

[01:17:13] and they go through the thing and then he gets double crossed you know it's like uh I guess

[01:17:17] I should have stuck to my rules.

[01:17:18] And then you know his friend gets killed because of it and that crime didn't pay.

[01:17:24] He's like you know first take my money then you kill my friends so I'm going to go kill you guys

[01:17:30] that's it.

[01:17:32] That's the movie.

[01:17:35] I think yeah.

[01:17:36] All right I'm good.

[01:17:38] Yeah like I said I think yeah I thought it was cooler than I was.

[01:17:41] Yeah especially when you it shows up on Criterion and you're

[01:17:44] yeah but not everything on Criterion.

[01:17:46] I can see why it's a Criterion it's still very arsey and like

[01:17:49] I own the Criterion of the rock and that's awesome so I'm gonna be armageddon one.

[01:17:53] But still like the only thing I like for Michael man is heat.

[01:17:57] Yeah.

[01:17:59] So I think I don't know how I like collateral.

[01:18:01] Oh yeah collateral is really good.

[01:18:04] The visuals are terrible.

[01:18:06] Yeah that movie yeah it's the start of his digital period.

[01:18:10] Man or man hunter is good but not for the reasons it should be.

[01:18:15] Not if you watch Sassalman.

[01:18:16] It's not if you watch Hannibal.

[01:18:18] No take take take away that expectation.

[01:18:22] Brett Brett Ragnar did better.

[01:18:24] You don't say that.

[01:18:26] Oh it's true.

[01:18:27] Red Dragon is better than Man Hunter.

[01:18:29] Hands down as a as a Hannibal actor movie.

[01:18:32] Yeah but as a movie yeah no my name.

[01:18:37] And then the very last thing I saw was a cinema classic.

[01:18:43] You didn't see that on the podcast Brad.

[01:18:45] Oh yeah.

[01:18:48] I always thought it would be boring like it seems like a wood like

[01:18:52] no one when it's referenced people always talk about the same couple things and they ever really

[01:18:57] mentioned the story aspect of it.

[01:19:00] And then we was 2001 a space Odyssey.

[01:19:02] Oh.

[01:19:05] Have you never seen it before?

[01:19:06] Never.

[01:19:07] Okay so what you're saying is you thought it would be boring

[01:19:10] because going in all you knew was the the the trumbled stuff at the end.

[01:19:15] The the the the the the song cue and the apes throwing the bone.

[01:19:20] The the monolith.

[01:19:22] And then you didn't know how I need in the pop a doors no day if I can't help you.

[01:19:28] All those things just over and over again through pop culture.

[01:19:31] What's the rest of the movie?

[01:19:32] I know and explains what it is.

[01:19:34] Okay yeah because I'm guessing no one knows because this movie is confusing as fuck

[01:19:38] and all about it is but yeah.

[01:19:41] A computer going rogue.

[01:19:43] Yes well yeah.

[01:19:45] Um what just goes like I couldn't figure out like why they're on the mission.

[01:19:51] Oh yeah no it's all that's not great.

[01:19:53] They're being so part of it is saying that Cooper doesn't go to a great job of telling you but

[01:19:57] like they're I didn't expect them to do this kind of thing.

[01:20:00] Yeah yeah there's there's supposed to be like

[01:20:05] I believe that part of it is here's what I'll say.

[01:20:08] You should watch 20 2010 which is the sequel.

[01:20:13] You may make we make contact which explains all of the shit that happens in 2001

[01:20:19] and makes them both better movies.

[01:20:20] Oh I thought it was a ghost again.

[01:20:21] Oh my gosh.

[01:20:22] Oh my goodness.

[01:20:23] Hey buddy.

[01:20:26] Pokes mash yeah yeah.

[01:20:29] So anyway um yeah you should watch 2010 because that movie makes sense

[01:20:34] and has some cool stuff.

[01:20:35] Well I think too that's uh Stanley Kubrick's like film style is he never really gives you too much

[01:20:41] in almost all his films it's always a lot is left for you to decide.

[01:20:46] It's it's yeah.

[01:20:48] I mean it's something like Ice White Show which I like but at the end it's like oh it's just a

[01:20:53] just a game.

[01:20:54] That's it.

[01:20:55] Yeah.

[01:20:55] It's weird like the shining might be the most obvious or like easily interpretive as films

[01:21:00] and that's not you know like I know it's not a great horror film but it is an interesting film

[01:21:05] to watch.

[01:21:06] I mean it's it's a great horror film for people who don't like horror.

[01:21:08] Which one?

[01:21:09] The shining.

[01:21:10] Oh yeah it's not really.

[01:21:11] Clockwork Orange is also pretty obvious but it's also operating on a different set of rules.

[01:21:16] Yeah you always thought it odd too like I think Clockwork Orange is way more mean than

[01:21:20] Friday the 13th and stuff and oh yeah because it's Kubrick's like oh whatever they can rape I

[01:21:24] guess.

[01:21:25] Did he make it in good oh Dr. String's love.

[01:21:27] Well yeah he made good movies.

[01:21:29] I was gonna keep it in my Clockwork Orange when it first came out was reviled like it was

[01:21:32] absolute in the same way how Jason movie was we gave it importance like down the line

[01:21:38] like that's it that's a clear case of like oh well retroactively it's a masterpiece but when

[01:21:43] it first came out like it was not really well received by any critics and it was banned

[01:21:49] from a lot of theaters especially in the UK.

[01:21:51] So did was this the 4k restoration that Christopher Nolan did for years?

[01:21:55] I don't know because it was the Esquire midnight which they show it often so it might be

[01:22:00] whatever the copy they already have on hand.

[01:22:01] I mean it still looks really good and like the story aside it's still a beautiful movie.

[01:22:07] Yeah.

[01:22:07] Oh yeah it's gorgeous.

[01:22:09] And yeah I mean an incredibly important one I mean even growing up I remember my dad

[01:22:14] talking about how like seeing that movie for the first time you're like it was the first

[01:22:17] time you watched a movie and you saw stars like it didn't look like somebody poked little

[01:22:23] you know tens of lights through a piece of plywood like you felt like you were in space

[01:22:28] you know and especially the spaceship itself is so well realized with the big you know spinning

[01:22:32] sets and all that stuff you know the movie is incredible.

[01:22:38] And even the Doug Trumbulled stuff at the end is incredible.

[01:22:42] The that was the only Oscar Cooper cover one by the way it was for uh visual effects for

[01:22:48] that film yeah it was not for anything else he ever did it's just funny since Doug was

[01:22:52] Trumbulled is the guy who did all the visual effects but he was on the same team so yeah

[01:22:57] yeah so interesting man yeah I just I thought I thought it'd be impressed and there's like

[01:23:04] the third Cooper movie that I've been like man yeah on the same way.

[01:23:07] It's almost as if he doesn't gel with you they're not very good films.

[01:23:11] Like I love Dr. Strange love.

[01:23:12] That looks good.

[01:23:13] Oh yeah so goofy.

[01:23:14] He's telling why I'm just like I think Strange Love though is also a common it's also

[01:23:18] you've got a lot of great comedians elevating that material.

[01:23:21] I always feel like that's the least Kubrick film I watch.

[01:23:24] He's just not very good at telling stories.

[01:23:27] Yeah.

[01:23:28] Oh he's part of more by far jokes and I mean like Billy and Eric should be more

[01:23:32] part of this.

[01:23:33] Oh you're right Spartacus I always forget.

[01:23:34] Paz of glory.

[01:23:36] The Kirk Douglas movies he did are really good.

[01:23:38] Yeah and I like actually I like all the films but like I don't

[01:23:43] revere them the way others do.

[01:23:45] I've still never seen eyes on shot and I should see that one.

[01:23:48] Good day Leo.

[01:23:49] Good day Leo.

[01:23:50] You know guys apparently if you're a doctor you're going to show your ID and get into

[01:23:52] everything Tom Cruise does.

[01:23:54] There's some things that movie him is weird.

[01:23:58] That's how you get the way really well shot though.

[01:23:59] He's got to be a doctor.

[01:24:00] I mean those orgy scenes perfectly shot.

[01:24:03] I hear this a a Ruben Fischer uncut version out there that I need to see.

[01:24:09] Really?

[01:24:10] No I might exist.

[01:24:12] I thought I was to a to for grace but wait to for grace.

[01:24:16] I was good stuff.

[01:24:19] Anyway we're talking about venom.

[01:24:21] I was making a bit of a joke.

[01:24:22] That's right.

[01:24:23] I'm done.

[01:24:24] Yeah.

[01:24:25] Good.

[01:24:25] I didn't watch too much this week.

[01:24:26] I watched some more Paradise PD which is that really goofy show by the

[01:24:31] Brickleberry guys on Netflix.

[01:24:33] It's about stupid cops and they're violent and it's animated

[01:24:37] and it's not not everything's funny in it but it pushes the envelope

[01:24:41] continuously so then you laugh at parts like him sticking his

[01:24:45] up some dead dudes butt because there's a phone in it because he's trying

[01:24:48] so in this episode like a dead dude dies on one side of

[01:24:52] the city and so like it's diamond cities like the best cops in the world

[01:24:56] and then it's Paradise PD or shitty cops

[01:24:59] and so the dead guys asses in Paradise Paradise

[01:25:02] Paradise City.

[01:25:03] So the chief tries to solve it just by looking at his butt

[01:25:08] and he goes to get his butt bleached and gets bleached in his eyes

[01:25:12] for the rest of the episode his eyes are like that's a fun jurisdiction.

[01:25:15] Yeah.

[01:25:17] It's funny the drugs the dogs the drug dogs always

[01:25:22] doing the drugs.

[01:25:24] It's stupid it's funny though it's violent and like way over the top

[01:25:27] and if you just want 30 minutes to kill

[01:25:30] there's worse things I guess.

[01:25:32] It's not you know look it's not smart I'll just say that it's

[01:25:36] it's just stupid.

[01:25:37] I also watched uh on Amazon has these

[01:25:42] golden classic documentaries and Carrie Grant was on there

[01:25:46] and I think it's shot like right after he died because it's shot in the 80s

[01:25:49] and it interviews a lot of his co-stars.

[01:25:51] It's pretty good.

[01:25:52] It's way better than the becoming Carrie Grant

[01:25:54] because it isn't so full of itself.

[01:25:57] Well they're also kind of generally made for

[01:25:59] phs.

[01:26:00] Yeah.

[01:26:01] They're the retro specs you find at the AFI.

[01:26:03] Yeah yeah they're fine.

[01:26:05] They're fine.

[01:26:05] Yeah.

[01:26:07] Actually if anything I'm sure there's a Warner Brothers

[01:26:10] set out there somewhere that has a really good dog.

[01:26:13] Yeah and I just like to because it had a lot of his co-stars on there

[01:26:15] yeah some directors have Catherine Hepburn

[01:26:18] they're going like he wasn't as old she wasn't in it

[01:26:22] I just like thinking that Catherine Hepburn just like shit talks everyone

[01:26:27] she seems like she's there the only one that was nice to me was Howard

[01:26:34] I also uh for uh 399 you can get Congo on Blu-ray

[01:26:39] oh sh** and I need I need to round I need to round up my

[01:26:42] farm go yeah I need to round up my Bruce Campbell

[01:26:45] Filmography um it's not good no

[01:26:48] like so there's fun I watch it and I said man have I

[01:26:52] rated this on a letter box and I went back out of

[01:26:54] it too so I said man that's about right

[01:26:56] There was a really great skit on Freakazoid uh

[01:26:59] where they were gonna go uh Freakazoid

[01:27:02] and the police officer want to go watch Congo again

[01:27:04] and play a game where they try to guess which ones

[01:27:06] Amanda and the suit and which ones are we gonna go right

[01:27:11] And it's the even the dialogues really bad in it

[01:27:15] so when Bruce Campbell's on the uplink

[01:27:18] it looks like it's a set

[01:27:19] and the dialogue is bad so so in this film

[01:27:23] is there looking for a diamond that can make a laser

[01:27:25] to a communications company yeah

[01:27:27] yeah yeah it's like all diamond mines

[01:27:29] yeah and then it's uh it's like a lost city

[01:27:32] with Tim Curry being a really bad

[01:27:34] Romanian accent uh well you could just stop

[01:27:37] at Tim Curry thank you yeah it sounds like a Michael

[01:27:41] Creighton thing yeah um and then the the monkeys

[01:27:44] they're kill people their apes

[01:27:47] yeah I call them aggressive they're aggressive

[01:27:50] yeah it's really good like I didn't like in lasers

[01:27:52] and shit like there's lots of like fox in it

[01:27:55] and it's pretty gory yeah I I could just

[01:27:57] warn it was PG 13 but as I'm watching it again

[01:28:00] well it's gory and there's lots of curse words

[01:28:02] oh yeah um and Amy Amy talks yeah

[01:28:07] ugly woman like this why don't like this movie

[01:28:10] uh you heard the you heard the interview is like

[01:28:13] with Bruce Campbell talking about this film right

[01:28:14] yeah he's he's incredibly grateful for like any big studio gig

[01:28:18] but he'd like we'll openly shit talk

[01:28:20] oh yeah it's just could pay lots of money

[01:28:22] and show up oh yeah that's what I do

[01:28:24] and who's gonna do Frank Marshall directed it too

[01:28:26] and it's you're a man this is lots of talent

[01:28:30] yeah stick to the bean count Franky

[01:28:32] Frank Marshall is not perfect no no but I mean

[01:28:35] there's lots of talent yes that went into this film

[01:28:37] and it's I mean Laura Linney's the lead actress

[01:28:40] and he did direct one of the greatest actions in the world

[01:28:43] yeah but it's you know yep I mean it's

[01:28:48] you know watch it's like an hour and 35 minutes or 40 minutes

[01:28:51] not that bad yeah and then I mean every time the guerrillas show up

[01:28:54] and kill people at school but it's it's a it's a

[01:28:56] chore to get there it is a chore to get there

[01:28:59] I haven't seen it in probably 15 18 years

[01:29:02] yeah and the the transfer's not that good

[01:29:04] you can tell that Paramount is like we're gonna

[01:29:05] take a DVD transfer and put it on blue ray

[01:29:07] yeah yeah it's just a slight uptick in detail and stuff

[01:29:12] I saw when I was 11 because I was on a Michael Cratton kick

[01:29:15] because I had first red Jurassic Park

[01:29:18] but like recently like when I've been talking with Spencer Kane

[01:29:21] he loves that flick not like and like just because

[01:29:24] he admits it's dumb but he just enjoys watching it

[01:29:27] sure and I was like really like well they also do the really bad um

[01:29:31] Star Trek original series when anything shakes

[01:29:34] the actors like react to it but maybe I could tell

[01:29:37] that's really not shaking I'm sure it's at the best

[01:29:40] button you we watch it yeah um yep best check out

[01:29:44] I can't get a copy of Conjuring to there but I can get a

[01:29:46] copy of Congo yep there you go um and and the last

[01:29:51] thing I watched was ghost stories at screen factories

[01:29:54] I have seen midnight import I get to find out if Ryan's gonna kill me

[01:29:58] no no it's so a lot of times with um and I said this last week with hereditary

[01:30:05] lower budget horror films I guess her editaries really not that low budget

[01:30:09] but their ideas kind of collapse on themselves

[01:30:12] where the setups really good and it's going really strong

[01:30:15] and then the ending I'm like me it starts falling apart for me because

[01:30:19] it you're trying to explain the supernatural and I think it's more

[01:30:25] scary if you don't explain it as much right um

[01:30:29] so in the film this guy is a debunker of uh

[01:30:33] psychics or something and he goes around and tells people that these people are fake

[01:30:36] general skeptic yeah he's a skeptic and then he gets hired by some old dude he's like

[01:30:40] these are three cases I couldn't solve yeah and um

[01:30:45] the first one is this night watchman's haunted by this girl ghost

[01:30:50] uh the second one I thought that the boy actor in it was the most interesting actor in the film

[01:30:54] oh yeah he's really tense he's really creepy and he's like runs over like a goat demon or something

[01:31:00] yeah I like how they like you just get enough of a glimpse of that goat yeah uh

[01:31:05] and actually i'm mart freeman's really great in the film mart freeman plays a guy whose wife

[01:31:11] is about to have a baby and it's weird things happen um and he's great in everything and he shows

[01:31:16] up later in the film too yeah in a place you wouldn't expect yeah so as soon as it got

[01:31:22] because I was watching it and like the three cases so it's basically an anthology but the three

[01:31:27] cases were done and I I looked down I've been watching this for an hour yeah and it's so quick

[01:31:33] and then it kind of devolves into something else that that's why I don't call it a traditional

[01:31:38] anthology kind of like it's almost like that's just a selling point for the marketing I mean

[01:31:43] it's well made again it just it falls apart at the end because it gets too ambitious yeah again

[01:31:48] like I still I love the ending but I have my problems with it because it just to end it at

[01:31:55] that point my biggest issue with it is is that okay well you've already given us a full scene

[01:32:01] of his backstory and why he's like feeling guilty about things but then you just leave it at this

[01:32:07] point I'm like whoa okay then and I guess I don't need to know how he got into whatever accident

[01:32:12] he's in now that he's in that place but kind of do because I kind of like watching that character

[01:32:17] they do say how he got there no no I know but like not like not getting into it a little further

[01:32:22] like you are kind of left on a hook there which is fine for that kind of movie and what it's doing

[01:32:28] actually the scene where he's dragging him back to the to the gurney is or the the hospital bed

[01:32:37] is I mean he's just like it's some great little acting combined with the editing and stuff like I

[01:32:42] yeah again like I mean I would I would put it as a contender for it over like hereditary even

[01:32:47] just because I appreciated the economic filmmaking and how it like looked great even on that budget

[01:32:56] is more pleasing than hereditary well again though my thing is like I enjoy thinking about hereditary

[01:33:02] a lot so no but again well I mean hey 12 bucks you didn't sacrifice too much no no no go stories is more

[01:33:12] interesting than even the title yeah and as well as movies I'll probably watch again to see if

[01:33:16] there's hints throughout it because there is like little with the numbers and there's there stuff

[01:33:21] at the performance is really good in it yeah really good oh yeah frame actually that might be

[01:33:27] freemen's most like daring performance because it's just because of where well because it's like just

[01:33:33] that scene where he puts the gun where he puts it and then just yeah no I get it I mean I think

[01:33:39] him as Bilbo in the last Hobbit is maybe his best moments on screen I was just talking to Gandalf

[01:33:46] I was worth thinking in terms of risk I guess but yeah fargo fargo yeah he's got fargo

[01:33:54] long talk about movies I'm not talking about movies on television

[01:34:02] okay I like this week on Real Nerds podcast we saw the predator yeah actually people go see

[01:34:08] the predator sure I mean he's not really a predator yeah we all voted and that's cooler

[01:34:15] fuck yeah um sure yeah um I had I had a lot of fun with the film but I have a lot of problems

[01:34:23] with it too so I'm not necessarily eager to go watch it again but I will admit I had a lot of

[01:34:30] fun watching it so yeah sure um it's fun watching predators do things and even if not all those

[01:34:40] things make sense Brad should people see the predator it's not the predator movie that I was hoping

[01:34:46] for but I think it's still pretty fun it's more in line with predator two so if you're looking for

[01:34:52] they do reference predator two quite a bit in it too yeah um so you know we're all looking for

[01:34:57] as as equal to the first predator and this isn't it but there's still some fun stuff in there but

[01:35:02] there's also some dumb logic jumps and location yeah that kind of leave you going like what's

[01:35:09] going on this movie and actually it's how telling James like I was hoping for a predator movie that

[01:35:16] expands the mythology of the predators a little bit more and this one finally does it uh-huh and

[01:35:20] it's kind of wasted so James um so I certainly struggled with this one because I would say yeah

[01:35:30] I had fun 80% of the time in this movie and was like along for the ride having an action movie

[01:35:36] there's a predator they're fighting it it fights them some most of the time it wins uh I think

[01:35:40] there's some really cool stuff in this movie um but I have already told a couple people not to go see

[01:35:47] it so I guess I have to say no um the things that are bad about this movie are so frustratingly bad

[01:35:55] like I think people could rent it unless you really are like oh man I want to go see a predator movie

[01:36:00] then okay yeah go yeah like you but just know like you're not gonna get something that you know

[01:36:05] I think predators is better which disappoints me because I had pretty out hopes and I think the reason

[01:36:10] why it rubs me so wrong is that I feel like I can see the bones of something great chain black

[01:36:15] wanted to do yeah I think it was two and a half hours long and I think they cut 45 minutes of

[01:36:19] the movie out and all the flesh they cut out was the good stuff and so all you have is action and

[01:36:25] comedy and it works um but I ended up kind of leaving frustrated and I think the last scene is

[01:36:32] so bad that if I ever watch this movie again I will turn it off before that scene happens um so yeah

[01:36:39] anyway that's how I felt Brian should people go see I'm in the same boat as Brad I'll give you to some

[01:36:46] inside to how I review movies is everything's on a scale of 10 and then I start taking away points

[01:36:54] for stuff I don't like so so for predator I really like the predator I like the action in it some

[01:37:02] the stuff was really funny but then I'll take like so it's 10 out of 10 so it goes down to 9 to 10

[01:37:06] because there's some editing issues in the film then it goes down to 8 out of 10 because there's

[01:37:11] some logic gaps in it yeah then it goes to 7 out of 10 because then there's like well wait a minute

[01:37:16] how did they get here when she was just knocked down over there and all of a sudden she's jumping on

[01:37:22] the predator and where did she get the hollow ball to discipline so there's parts in it so you have

[01:37:27] it as cool so yeah so I guess what I'm saying is I gave it um three and a half out of five stars

[01:37:32] because there's enough there right now with a scale of five well because you have to start at 10

[01:37:37] to take it away because letter box doesn't have 10 always divide by two yeah because letter box

[01:37:42] doesn't have a ten point scale okay so yeah if you want to see a predator kill things that's

[01:37:47] yeah again great which is great that's why I say sure yeah cuz like at the end of the day he does

[01:37:52] kill things and if your fans it like does expand on the mythology of them yeah so it's cool

[01:37:59] but yeah it should set took place during Christmas and a private movie yeah better shame black film

[01:38:04] oh yeah yeah it makes sense why it's on Halloween for some scenes but there should have been a

[01:38:08] moment where there was a drunken department store Santa walking down the street and then come

[01:38:12] across the park there's Robert Downey Jr. and yeah oh yeah that would be great idea

[01:38:17] junior was like the bad like government guy that'd been pretty sweet um anyways here's the trailer for

[01:38:23] the predator do you know what my job description is I'm in acquisitions

[01:38:36] I look up and I catch what falls out of this guy

[01:38:44] what's on the ship

[01:38:54] oh

[01:38:57] tell me about the mission did you see anything unusual it's above our big green

[01:39:06] I get a cookie now look I got it something went down in Mexico nobody wants any witnesses

[01:39:16] we need to know if you can your man pose a threat

[01:39:19] we're Rangers

[01:39:23] hey backsy if your mom's vagina were a video game it'd be rated E for everyone

[01:39:30] isn't posing a threat

[01:39:34] can I have the fucking point

[01:39:36] oh

[01:39:47] Predators just don't sit around making hats out of rib cages the conquered space

[01:39:54] but that's not what's on the horizon should I be worried

[01:39:57] I think you know what is on the ship

[01:40:09] the ultimate predators

[01:40:13] mighty map

[01:40:17] we may die

[01:40:20] we're still here

[01:40:24] so come and get us motherfucker

[01:40:27] oh

[01:40:43] the story of the predator is the predators are coming to earth and more frequently one gets captured

[01:40:47] well we don't know it opens in space it does open space yeah it's like pretty cool they do

[01:40:52] you can see how they rip like through space and time yeah right they got crazy warp drive thingy's

[01:40:58] that tear open space yeah like a space claw we gotta ask Neil to crash Tyson if those are

[01:41:03] awesome possible great and then he crash lands and the predator shows up the opening is pretty cool

[01:41:10] oh yes this the hanging body and the tree was yeah well I was gonna say in like to James

[01:41:16] when we were driving home after seeing this there are genuinely fun little haunted house slash

[01:41:22] horror moments in the fleck which I enjoyed yeah there are few and far between unfortunately

[01:41:27] because they mainly focus on the action element of that but I like it when he like rips shit

[01:41:31] the rip spines out and like you know dangling people from trees like that's the predator I like

[01:41:36] watching you know and it's cool that they gave a reason why they rip spines out you know yes

[01:41:41] and like that sounds cool and then to see it uh because I you know I was reading it when I

[01:41:46] seeing the trailers at oh humans made a super predator and then you find out they're just evolving

[01:41:51] themselves and trying to make themselves better yeah like that premise is pretty cool like yeah

[01:41:56] Brad had said that before the movie and so when that happened I was like this is this is kind of

[01:42:00] exactly what I mean I kind of made fun of it when he said it where I was like yeah I don't really

[01:42:03] want to see a movie where like we learn about how predators breed and then I think that's kind

[01:42:08] of what I got I mean Olivia Munn has that great line too and they're trying to explain it ways like

[01:42:14] so you want me to see if this predator fucked a human yeah there's stuff like that and the

[01:42:21] little boy uh what does he say is like then don't go fuck yourself because it's opposite or I've

[01:42:27] read it's a look oh yeah reverse psychology yeah I can do that really quickly my favorite cameo

[01:42:33] that entire film Jake bucy swandering through that film for like a good time. Well this is the name

[01:42:39] of his dad and predator too so it's it's it's his dad is really his dad too. Yeah so it's a nice

[01:42:49] callback yeah and it's interesting too because you know I my problems with alienverse predator

[01:42:55] is they try to make the predator a good guy by you know signing to the other woman but this he was

[01:43:00] a good guy but not that good yeah you know he's like you fuck with me I'm gonna destroy you their world

[01:43:07] our war yeah exactly yeah but then like the fresh marriage of the like the super predator like

[01:43:14] like you said before he mutilates like exactly but then he has a chance to like get the boy

[01:43:21] from the other two people and he just like pushes him away yeah that's what I mean like yeah

[01:43:25] that's he wins the villains in horror films you know they're tearing people apart and then he gets

[01:43:31] to the end he's like get out of my way yeah if that was really he should have picked him up and

[01:43:34] just ripped this is yeah in fact the cool room movie probably would have been really awesome like

[01:43:38] that would have been a cool turn if our main character at that point just got ripped in half and

[01:43:42] then it's a leave him on has to try and keep it safe exactly suddenly that turns that movie on

[01:43:48] its head yeah and so that's a part two where I felt like a lot was edited out because oh yeah

[01:43:53] so yes so they they capture the predator super predator captures the boy throws them in the pod

[01:43:59] and then his dad's on the spaceship trying to save him also and he has a radio and the kid has a

[01:44:04] radio oh yeah that was never explained there's all kinds of moments where they're like well where

[01:44:08] would they meet or all and like it seems just starting you don't know how anyone got there yeah so

[01:44:12] and then that's later in that scene Olivia Munn shows up she has a camouflage cloak where did she

[01:44:17] get it like how does he run like 20 miles there's catch up to them there's something missing in this

[01:44:23] film in a lot well and the bigger problem to me is so like at the end of the film there starts

[01:44:30] being this section where they're out in the woods and they're working together and there there be

[01:44:35] an a little military crew trying to kill this predator right and at that point some cool start

[01:44:41] stuff starts happening there's some neat action some weapons that I kind of come out of nowhere yeah

[01:44:46] you know all of a sudden they're like shooting gas and burning him and stuff and you didn't get

[01:44:52] any set up there but the bigger problem to me is as characters start dying there starts being these

[01:44:58] like links and emotional ties and like it's like you start seeing things land that were never tossed

[01:45:04] up in there and what I realized as we were driving home was I was like oh shit like this is a movie

[01:45:10] where Shane Black said I have a pitch for predator and it's I'm gonna take mentally wounded soldiers

[01:45:17] and reconstitute them into a like platoon that can fight a predator and I'm like and that's

[01:45:23] such a great idea because that's how they redeem themselves you look at the bones yeah like here's

[01:45:27] here he takes these guys who've been in one way or another wounded by being soldiers and he's

[01:45:33] trying to redeem them back into being these you know proper humans and soldiers so they can fight

[01:45:38] this monster and that's such a cool thing and as you start seeing their relationships land at

[01:45:43] the end I realize I think there's a good amount of footage early in the film of those guy of us

[01:45:50] learning about those characters and them like or maybe it was never even filmed maybe it was just

[01:45:54] in the script that they he wrote a two and a half hour predator movie and they said you got to

[01:45:59] chop all this stuff out um you know because like I just it was it was really frustrating it sucks too

[01:46:06] and especially because there's a lot of like those side characters are fun like all in that platoon

[01:46:10] like I loved Thomas Jane and Keke Michael Key in this flick yeah but they are criminally under

[01:46:17] uh under fleshed out like in terms of just like they they get one slip-in of like well this is

[01:46:22] their real story is that their lovers and I'm like well that's cool I would I mean don't just drop

[01:46:28] that all of a sudden yeah it's a really big throw away yeah yeah and then and then but but I mean

[01:46:32] although it is kind of ish paid off in the way they do the the suicide pact essentially after

[01:46:39] their like flung into trees and it's a beautiful shot that he shoots of like that diagonal like

[01:46:44] it's like a comic book panel in a weird way it was a really fucking yeah I mean there's also

[01:46:48] great moment too uh you know Shane Blacks wit permeate to this every once in a while yeah there's

[01:46:54] there's a part where uh his ex wife gives a speech and uh what's the the long hair I forget his name

[01:47:02] uh he gets his legs chopped off by the force field um oh sure the guy likes the bible yeah the guy

[01:47:07] likes the bible where he says ah your speech really wasn't that inspiring but nobody calls me a

[01:47:11] pussy yeah like those guys banteries so great and you know usually he he would take those characters

[01:47:20] and make them all learn to respect each other so that then at the end when they start finding a

[01:47:24] predator you're like this is awesome yeah and so that's but I didn't even realize that's what was

[01:47:28] happening until they all start finding the predator and I went oh like there was something here

[01:47:35] and it just doesn't fit you know and the kills are pretty creative too like uh like the violence

[01:47:42] and the actions pretty well shot like they were still cutting off that guy's like yeah yeah yeah

[01:47:48] and how he brings down the predators you know spaceship and he see jumps through like the turbine

[01:47:52] yeah that's pretty sweet too yeah um yeah even even some of this stuff I didn't understand when

[01:47:58] it was happening seemed cool like like whatever the gas was that they light him on fire with

[01:48:02] that kind of stuff sterling brown with like the the arm can the arm blows his own head off blows

[01:48:07] own head off accident because he looks so wrong that's what okay I didn't get that it was so

[01:48:13] it was so fast I didn't understand and they have that throw away well I'm with little kid who's

[01:48:17] like it just does it on its own so when he perceives it right he looks there and yeah I mean even

[01:48:22] the super predator ripping the other predators head off is awesome oh yeah um yeah I mean and

[01:48:28] the super predator looks cool yeah and the premise is cool yeah like it's just unrulyze potential

[01:48:34] I had a I do feel like the whole thing with the sun being autistic and the and the super predator

[01:48:41] I love that I love that element it was cool I feel like it didn't land for like I knew that's

[01:48:46] what was happening right and I mean it was just like okay I appreciate them flushing it out as much

[01:48:51] as they did because it still permeates throughout the film but I agree like they they need to

[01:48:56] murder someone I guess we just throw that away yeah they need to they needed to elaborate a little

[01:49:01] oh yeah I guess kid didn't murder someone the master yeah but you know what just manslaughter yeah

[01:49:09] fuck that guy yeah throwing rocks at autistic kids like just yeah yeah and then yeah

[01:49:15] scaring those kids make sure they don't mess with them like he's gonna be the most feared kid

[01:49:19] around the neighborhood now for the right reasons and not the wrong reasons right um but also uh

[01:49:24] you know like I just again like I don't know what I was expecting for the fourth fifths

[01:49:30] predator movie if we can't if we're not counting AVPs or not and so like with shame blacks name

[01:49:37] attached I think that there was an expectation in my head that I don't like that I shouldn't have

[01:49:43] relied on because even though it's shame black it's still a franchise and that's gonna be heavily

[01:49:48] scrutinized by the studio that's making it so I agree whatever great story he had was

[01:49:53] definitely gutted which really sucks because there's a there is a lot of like good bones in here

[01:49:59] throwing to pot of water and make a good broth but yeah you gotta stew going yeah they get car

[01:50:05] weather from the first predator um so but um and yeah I just I don't know like

[01:50:11] I feel like I want more that I'm not getting you know what we'll say though sterling k brown gives

[01:50:19] not my favorite performance of the year but I will give him the award of most interesting because

[01:50:23] it certainly is not something I've seen him do before then he's just a bad guy I mean well he's a bad

[01:50:27] guy but he's like he isn't except he is an eccentric gum chewing bad guy in the vein of like a

[01:50:32] fucking like we talk about crazy actors he's drawing off of that crazy oh just found they had

[01:50:38] that truce yeah like most other movies they would have like killed each other but right like

[01:50:43] yeah this is insane we should team up yeah and then I guess should we talk about the

[01:50:49] beguffin oh yeah um that that is the thing that I'm an predator yeah I don't mind if they're

[01:50:58] gonna use it if I mean I don't know if they'll make another one if they use that technology and go

[01:51:02] like the predators home planet to fight them I think it'd be sweet but if you look at the pot it's

[01:51:06] at like pod number three so the predators like write English on their pods so to me it was more

[01:51:15] frustrating because it's like okay the premise is that this predator knows that we're killing our

[01:51:20] planet and so he's come to give us something to help us but then the thing he gives us is an iron

[01:51:26] man suit with red locks to fight predators honestly looks like the CG on that suit looks like mid 90s

[01:51:34] fucking the some weird fifth robot cops get so bad and that was a dumb line at the end of this

[01:51:42] one new suit make sure it fits yeah that sounded just really so that scene made like just so made me

[01:51:54] mad and wasn't what I what I want isn't another movie where like some predators come to earth and we

[01:52:00] fight them with robots suits it confused me too because I was like I mean like after a few seconds

[01:52:06] I was like nah it's a sequel set up but at first I was just like wow this is the most awkward ending

[01:52:11] ever and then I was like oh sequel fuck and that's if they're also just a threat that isn't that big

[01:52:17] because there's been like three predators have shown up on earth it's not an epidemic yeah like

[01:52:21] like you know a bunch of more predators are showing up remember at the end of predator two he's

[01:52:26] given all these trophies like the gun from the 1700s and yeah like the prayers like we'll be back

[01:52:32] and it's truly and certainly came around says they've come multiple times but he's only mentioning

[01:52:36] obviously predators one and two you he's not even talking about like like all the other potential

[01:52:41] times they could have come in sequels prequels that we could also yeah but yeah I would you mean like

[01:52:45] the right not killing like millions of people right exactly no they're not like that's not

[01:52:51] declaring war on the planet but you know what that would go against their rules of hunting for sport

[01:52:55] dude what if the next predator is like that uh like Thanos's warships and they just dropped

[01:53:00] down as it's just a bunch of predators run out yeah it's just over in like 20 minutes I mean Kevin

[01:53:07] Feige's actively reshooting Avengers 4 all the time all the time so why don't we just get him

[01:53:12] to do that while we're at it um yeah I mean I still I agree with what we we figured out the other

[01:53:19] night which is like the end of that movie should have been uh fucking the terminator coming out and

[01:53:25] it's like a battle of Stan Winston creations yes that's what I wanted I wanted well so what I

[01:53:31] wanted was Arnold Schwarzenegger to be in there and then when the news came out about what the original

[01:53:35] like scripted ending was I was like oh yeah that's way better like um so I don't know

[01:53:40] nah I would have liked to have just pop out of that pod and been like where you've been for like

[01:53:44] the last bunch of movies and it just ends and then the next movie is explaining it yeah right

[01:53:48] well or it's just like you know dutch got abducted so now he knows everything about the aliens and

[01:53:54] now we're gonna fight aliens where he gets that where he gets out of the ponds is I have a headache

[01:53:58] and someone one of those doctors says check to see if he has a tumor and then he goes it's not a

[01:54:02] tuba also credits the predator version uh vision in this movie I don't I didn't see any like heat

[01:54:08] there's a couple shots yeah they're few and far between and they're mostly squaring in on that

[01:54:12] kids name he very really yeah that's right he only uses it in the kids bedroom well that's like

[01:54:18] the the the interface vision yeah there was no heat vision no no because they even have the mask on

[01:54:24] hardly ever yeah they really wanted a play ever was wearing his own and he's never showed I figured

[01:54:32] if you're making a predator movie call back to that yeah it doesn't really hunt people very often

[01:54:36] oh oh question okay do we ever figure out why naked Olivia Mondays and get murdered

[01:54:41] I see she's she's not a threat like okay I don't think they kill women because they think they're weak

[01:54:47] no I don't I don't think she had a gun so there's no yeah well the scientist didn't have guns

[01:54:53] yeah well they had those plastic guns yeah no sport and she was in a position where she was clearly

[01:55:00] not threatening him or standing around yeah like but yeah I thought she had to look on her face of like

[01:55:06] you know she was like oh thank you for not killing it also like why aren't you killing me

[01:55:10] yeah well that too yeah a different mission too I was afraid something was gonna happen where it was

[01:55:15] like oh yeah no the predator is here to take all our women because we've been having sex with

[01:55:18] humans like literally one point was like this is weird um I mean that makes the most sense

[01:55:26] I mean it was just such a bizarre scene to me that I didn't know why she like she could have just run

[01:55:30] away and avoided him I'll be honest she's naked next to a predator naked next to Jake Busy

[01:55:36] and I'm fearing one of those things more than the other and guess which one it is Jake Busy

[01:55:41] I saw him and I chopped up what did he do he blew up the first machine in contact man that's

[01:55:48] what he did that's right that's right that's what he did what did he's insane I see that guy I'm

[01:55:55] just like that family has the most expressive eyes and teeth in Hollywood when he's blonde it

[01:56:01] just creeps me out oh yeah um next we count on oh we're gonna see uh

[01:56:06] simple they're talking on small I think it has but what if we go see it in iMacs guys we get the

[01:56:11] thriller video you know the almost having like a last specialty like we should try to grab one of those

[01:56:17] like I mean I want to see Mandy I don't know if anyone wants to see Mandy oh I do want to see

[01:56:21] Mandy and I still want to see a simple favor because I like a favor so I think fantastic

[01:56:27] fest is next weekend yeah I might see a simple favor I'd see that I figured out it's like an

[01:56:32] elegant little Hollywood like a like a like a thriller-ish kind of thing yeah I like any Kendrick

[01:56:38] damn I saw the shallows like lively cool thanks for listening thanks to all the dudes being here
