Ep. 155: Nerds of Tomorrow

The Reel Nerds are minus James this week as they live. pod. repeat Edge of Tomorrow and prepare for Denver Comic-Con.

[00:00:00] Hi, this is Jonathan Tearsten from the Perfect House and Sleepaway Camp and you are listening to the Reel Nerds Podcast

[00:00:07] Welcome to Reel Nerds Podcast, unofficially the official podcast of Denver Comic Con 2014 and beyond

[00:00:37] I am Ryan with me with this week only is

[00:00:40] Brad

[00:00:41] Brad, it's a quiet week here at Reel Nerds Podcast

[00:00:43] Considering it's our three year anniversary

[00:00:45] I know, this is exactly our three year at well

[00:00:48] I mean it actually pushes it a little bit because you do 52 weeks and like the weeks don't really line up

[00:00:52] Right

[00:00:53] Because when did X-Men 1st Class was it?

[00:00:55] I think it was June 6th, 2011

[00:00:57] June 6th, I think you're right

[00:00:59] So I guess it's pretty much right on

[00:01:01] It's just appropriately that episode was just you and me and James was out

[00:01:05] That's right

[00:01:06] So back to the original, what's your favorite thing over the past three years Brad?

[00:01:11] Oh, of all of it? Like they're just this show

[00:01:16] Of all of it

[00:01:17] Yeah, I like making the pod show as you can see earlier you got to preview the DVD

[00:01:22] I did, I got the samples off the press

[00:01:27] The test disc

[00:01:29] The test disc and it looks really good

[00:01:31] Thanks Brad, you put a lot of work into it

[00:01:33] Yes I did

[00:01:34] It looks really good, it sounds cool

[00:01:36] Each episode's menu page, I know you'd call it I guess title page

[00:01:42] Has its own theme song to it

[00:01:46] The loopers are really funny

[00:01:48] You forget all the stuff you've done obviously because we filmed it over the course of like eight months

[00:01:54] And there's some funny stuff on there

[00:01:56] How long is it? It's 55 minutes is the outtakes?

[00:01:59] Something like that, yeah

[00:02:00] It might be funnier than our show

[00:02:02] That's what I was saying, I think I laughed more in the outtakes but then again I was there

[00:02:07] Yeah and maybe it's because the outtakes are so fresh

[00:02:10] But yeah it's fun, there's also some trailers, there's a fun documentary

[00:02:15] You tell people how to make a photon pack

[00:02:18] That's right, not a proton pack

[00:02:21] It's lots of fun though

[00:02:24] Was it fun making it or has it just been arduous?

[00:02:28] I like seeing the final product but yeah

[00:02:32] Is it just like when you shoot something the final product looks really good

[00:02:35] But when you're doing it it's a lot of work

[00:02:37] Yeah there's a lot of, because I haven't done a disc this elaborate before

[00:02:41] With only special features and almost like three hours worth of content

[00:02:46] So it's like anything, I'm worried this close to Denver Comic Con

[00:02:51] They really state what's gonna prevent it from actually getting done

[00:02:55] So that's got me stressed out

[00:02:57] But the getting the disc was crazy

[00:03:00] Yeah they look really cool

[00:03:02] I love how that you, here's a little spoiler guys

[00:03:05] The Blu-ray has blue in it and the DVD is red

[00:03:08] Do we mention it's a Blu-ray DVD combo?

[00:03:10] I think we have but you're not excited about it, you should be

[00:03:13] Yeah that's awesome

[00:03:14] I mean how many Blu-ray DVD combos do you get for 12 bucks?

[00:03:17] 12 bucks

[00:03:18] Yeah well if you get it at Comic Con

[00:03:20] Okay I was gonna say

[00:03:21] So it's taking three bucks off

[00:03:22] That's what I was gonna, you spoiled my thing

[00:03:24] I was gonna say retail $15

[00:03:26] Well when you said 12 bucks

[00:03:28] $12 at Denver Comic Con

[00:03:30] So make sure you say hi

[00:03:32] Because we also just got word that our slip covers are done

[00:03:35] That's right

[00:03:36] And they look really cool

[00:03:37] Actually if you go to my profile picture on Facebook

[00:03:39] You can find me through the real nerds

[00:03:41] I actually put the little sample picture you put up

[00:03:43] And they look really sweet

[00:03:44] Man I was in the warehouse watching them get folded

[00:03:48] And it's pretty impressive

[00:03:50] Really that's cool

[00:03:51] Yeah and then the discs was a crazy

[00:03:55] It really stressed me out last week

[00:03:56] Cause they were supposed to be here last Friday

[00:03:59] And for some reason UPS just at the end of the day

[00:04:03] It was a truck that left at 6am

[00:04:06] And it never made it from Commerce City to downtown Denver

[00:04:10] Which is 10 minutes

[00:04:12] Yeah then it said I'm sure they had a bunch of stops along the way

[00:04:15] But it just didn't get to mine before 9 o'clock or whatever

[00:04:19] So I was like well I gotta sell a wait till Monday

[00:04:22] And then it came on Monday

[00:04:23] And the receptionist was away from our desk at work

[00:04:25] So it went back to the warehouse

[00:04:27] Oh my gosh

[00:04:28] And so finally I just called him and said like hey can I just go to the warehouse and get them

[00:04:31] Cause I really need to check them out before

[00:04:33] Cause you know I've only got a certain amount of days to let the manufacturer know if there's a problem

[00:04:38] And the DVD is a little printed offset

[00:04:42] It's not quite aligned with the circle

[00:04:44] But you know what can you do

[00:04:47] Overall it looks really good though

[00:04:49] Yeah I'm excited

[00:04:50] I'm excited too

[00:04:51] I can't wait to give it to people

[00:04:52] Cause like a part of us is inside their home

[00:04:54] A part of us is inside them

[00:04:56] That's right we're putting ourselves in everyone's

[00:04:58] I just hit my dog with the laptop

[00:05:00] Nice

[00:05:01] Yeah I just want to

[00:05:04] You see a lot of like home made discs

[00:05:07] Of people's web series and this one

[00:05:10] I hope it blows them away

[00:05:12] It should too

[00:05:13] And what's cool is because you're also on the board for open screen night

[00:05:16] Now you can bring those with you

[00:05:17] And you can have your own little table

[00:05:19] And then oh there also too

[00:05:21] We can exclusively reveal on here when

[00:05:23] We're done with Comic-Con

[00:05:24] We have three copies at Colorado Coins Cards and Comics

[00:05:26] That's right

[00:05:27] We will put in there

[00:05:28] Andrew said he will put them in the local artists section

[00:05:31] Of Colorado Coins Cards and Comics

[00:05:33] So just look for them there

[00:05:35] That's right and I think we'll

[00:05:37] We haven't

[00:05:38] Cause we don't have the discs done yet

[00:05:40] We can't show them but we're going to take it to video one

[00:05:43] Down across from the Esquire

[00:05:45] And they might rent it there so if you don't want to buy it

[00:05:47] You can at least watch it

[00:05:48] Check it out

[00:05:49] No that's awesome I know that

[00:05:50] And the Blu-ray is the only place you can see the special features

[00:05:52] Cause I'm not putting that stuff online so

[00:05:54] Yeah and too what people don't

[00:05:56] Yeah you can watch it on Vimeo or YouTube

[00:05:59] But the Blu-ray transfer looks amazing

[00:06:01] Of course it's Blu-ray

[00:06:02] So you're getting a direct source

[00:06:04] The picture looks way better

[00:06:05] The audio sounds great

[00:06:06] And you get commentary by us which is

[00:06:08] A lot of commentary

[00:06:09] A lot of commentary

[00:06:10] I mean that's just gold

[00:06:11] Yeah

[00:06:12] That's just gold

[00:06:13] Totally worth your 15 bucks

[00:06:14] Totally

[00:06:15] And we'll have t-shirts at Denver Comic-Con

[00:06:16] Yeah

[00:06:17] Sweet t-shirts that you designed

[00:06:18] That I haven't seen yet

[00:06:19] Yeah I hope they're done

[00:06:20] I hope they're done too

[00:06:21] Like what six days away

[00:06:22] Six days away

[00:06:24] Yeah that'll be great

[00:06:25] I can't wait to see those

[00:06:26] And if you've got a special deal

[00:06:28] Right

[00:06:29] For if you get a t-shirt and a t-shirt

[00:06:30] That's right

[00:06:31] If you get a t-shirt

[00:06:32] Which are retail for $15 guys

[00:06:34] The Blu-ray retails for $15

[00:06:36] So that's 30 bucks

[00:06:37] You're like oh

[00:06:38] I mean that's not a bad deal

[00:06:39] For a t-shirt and you know

[00:06:40] A movie

[00:06:41] But

[00:06:42] But

[00:06:43] You go to Denver Comic-Con

[00:06:44] You get both

[00:06:45] 25 bucks dude

[00:06:47] 25 bucks

[00:06:48] I mean

[00:06:49] I'll get one anyway

[00:06:50] But if it was you

[00:06:51] I would want to pay that

[00:06:52] Totally

[00:06:53] And you know what also

[00:06:54] We can exclusively reveal

[00:06:56] On the podcast

[00:06:57] Well it's not really exclusive

[00:06:58] But we can say

[00:06:59] That Saturday

[00:07:01] At Denver Comic-Con

[00:07:02] Which is June 14th

[00:07:04] In rooms 404 and 405

[00:07:06] Nope

[00:07:07] 403 and 404

[00:07:08] 403 and 404 are you sure

[00:07:09] I'm pretty sure

[00:07:10] I think you're wrong

[00:07:11] Nope

[00:07:12] I think you're wrong

[00:07:13] Anyways in the 404

[00:07:14] There's only four rooms

[00:07:15] 403, 404, 405 and 406

[00:07:16] Okay so 403 and 404

[00:07:18] We will be there

[00:07:20] Having our own panel

[00:07:21] At Denver Comic-Con

[00:07:22] Where we will show three episodes

[00:07:24] And we have decided to show

[00:07:25] Two, five and six

[00:07:27] There and then afterwards

[00:07:28] We'll do a little Q&A

[00:07:29] And we will be giving away

[00:07:31] A copy of the blue ray

[00:07:33] And DVD there

[00:07:34] Not sure how we'll give it away

[00:07:35] But

[00:07:36] We'll figure something out

[00:07:37] We always do

[00:07:38] It's a great way to get it for free

[00:07:39] Is to just show up that panel

[00:07:40] You know what

[00:07:41] We'll bring a few shirts too

[00:07:42] And we'll give them away as well

[00:07:43] Yeah

[00:07:44] Just have fun

[00:07:45] And we really want to have fun

[00:07:46] Make sure if you're at Denver Comic-Con

[00:07:47] This coming weekend

[00:07:48] Stop by and say hi

[00:07:49] You can record on our show

[00:07:50] We'll do our best to get

[00:07:52] Some more artists

[00:07:53] And some more celebrities on

[00:07:55] I'm not sure

[00:07:57] Every year

[00:07:58] I kind of get stressed out

[00:07:59] Because

[00:08:00] Being like the voice

[00:08:02] In the face of real nerds

[00:08:03] I have to go meet these people

[00:08:04] And I have to do all these interviews

[00:08:05] And it sounds really weird

[00:08:07] And this has actually been

[00:08:08] My favorite part of

[00:08:09] The podcast is

[00:08:10] Besides hanging out with my friends

[00:08:11] And seeing movies every week

[00:08:12] Is doing these cons

[00:08:13] These festivals

[00:08:14] And sitting there

[00:08:15] And I always get really anxious

[00:08:16] Before

[00:08:17] Because

[00:08:18] I have this anxiety

[00:08:20] Where I want to talk to people

[00:08:22] And then it works me up

[00:08:24] And I really calm down

[00:08:25] When they sit down and talk to me

[00:08:26] Then I get worn out

[00:08:27] Like I don't want to talk to people

[00:08:28] But then I get really excited again

[00:08:29] And it's a really weird

[00:08:31] I don't know how to describe it

[00:08:33] But it's a weird thing I have

[00:08:34] And you still don't have

[00:08:35] A moderator's list

[00:08:36] Like they still haven't informed

[00:08:37] What panel you're supposed to have

[00:08:38] I don't even know where

[00:08:39] We're supposed to pick up our badges

[00:08:40] There's a media center again

[00:08:43] I just don't know

[00:08:44] Yeah, is that where we're supposed to get them?

[00:08:45] I haven't seen an email about it

[00:08:46] There's an email about

[00:08:48] People can pick up their badges

[00:08:50] At various comic stores

[00:08:51] Yeah, you can

[00:08:52] Yeah, you can if you've bought them

[00:08:54] Right, but I'm wondering if media

[00:08:55] Has that option

[00:08:56] I doubt it

[00:08:57] I'll leave Bellum

[00:08:58] I mean, it's not really that big a deal

[00:09:00] I'm sure we'll figure something out

[00:09:01] But yeah

[00:09:02] I do know

[00:09:03] The three-day passes are completely sold out

[00:09:05] I talked to Bruce

[00:09:07] At Colorado Coins

[00:09:08] Cards of Comics yesterday

[00:09:09] And he told me

[00:09:10] He only has three Saturday passes left

[00:09:12] Two Friday passes

[00:09:14] And like 15 Sundays

[00:09:16] So make sure that you get out and get them

[00:09:18] Because you can't get them on the website anymore

[00:09:20] The website's sold out

[00:09:21] You have to go to your local comic shop

[00:09:23] And our local comic shop is down to

[00:09:25] Less than 20 passes for the whole weekend

[00:09:27] So if you want to go, make sure you get them

[00:09:30] Every week we go see a new movie

[00:09:32] This week we went and saw Edge of Tomorrow

[00:09:34] Starring Tom Cruise

[00:09:36] Stay tuned to the end of the podcast

[00:09:37] When we talk about it

[00:09:38] We also talk about movie news

[00:09:40] Comic books you should be reading

[00:09:42] Stuff we've been watching

[00:09:44] Box office numbers

[00:09:45] Stuff that's coming out on Blu-ray

[00:09:47] That's what we do

[00:09:49] Brad, what should we watch

[00:09:51] On Blu-ray next week?

[00:09:53] You don't know I have the list

[00:09:54] But I'll tell people what they should

[00:09:57] Get maybe on Amazon

[00:09:58] Okay, thanks

[00:09:59] Yeah

[00:10:00] I was going to say something else

[00:10:01] But I totally forgot what I was going to say

[00:10:03] DVD releases in Blu-ray

[00:10:05] And we're going to talk about

[00:10:07] DVD releases in Blu-ray

[00:10:11] Actually next week

[00:10:13] I don't know if I'll buy anything

[00:10:14] Until it's in the good old

[00:10:16] $7 spot of Amazon

[00:10:22] But if you watch Cosmos

[00:10:24] What is that? It's really popular

[00:10:25] It's the number one Blu-ray next week

[00:10:27] That's like a show hosted by Carl Sagan

[00:10:31] But didn't Seth MacParlane do something new with it?

[00:10:33] I think he's like the producer

[00:10:34] Or something of it, I think

[00:10:36] Anyways, that's coming out

[00:10:37] That's a show I might check it out

[00:10:38] If it's streaming on Netflix

[00:10:40] Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan

[00:10:42] Shadow Recruit is coming out

[00:10:44] Again, a fun movie

[00:10:46] You know

[00:10:48] Is alright

[00:10:49] Not alright

[00:10:50] Non-stop with Liam Neeson

[00:10:51] Is coming out

[00:10:52] Another movie that's okay

[00:10:54] It was fun

[00:10:56] True detective, the HBO show

[00:10:58] With Woody Harrelson and James' boyfriend

[00:11:01] And Matthew McConaughey is also coming out as well

[00:11:04] Oh, this is the one I'm definitely going to get

[00:11:08] The Seattle Seahawks Road to the Super Bowl

[00:11:10] Fuck the Seattle Seahawks

[00:11:11] I'm going to give that to you for Christmas

[00:11:16] That's pretty much it

[00:11:18] I'm going to keep on scrolling down

[00:11:20] Oh, there is a DVD release of the short game

[00:11:22] Which if you have Netflix, you can watch for free

[00:11:24] It's a fun little documentary I saw about

[00:11:26] Little kids playing golf in the World Championship

[00:11:28] You talked about that once

[00:11:29] Yeah, it's fun

[00:11:30] You can treat it by Netflix if you have it

[00:11:32] There were a couple things James skipped over last week

[00:11:34] That was a little bummed about

[00:11:36] Do you remember?

[00:11:37] No

[00:11:39] I wish I could help you

[00:11:42] Let's see

[00:11:43] I'm going to scroll all the way to the bottom

[00:11:45] Oh, William Shakespeare's Collector's Edition

[00:11:47] From PBS

[00:11:48] That'll be out on DVD

[00:11:52] There is four kid favorites

[00:11:53] Adventures of Batman and Robin

[00:11:57] Fifty movies starring Steven Seagal

[00:12:00] He was in 15 movies

[00:12:01] Yeah, I mean I'm sure he made a bunch of shit movies for a while

[00:12:04] Dick Van Dyke shows getting a re-release

[00:12:10] Of their first ten episodes

[00:12:12] On DVD

[00:12:13] So if you haven't picked up the

[00:12:14] On DVD?

[00:12:15] If you haven't picked up Dick Van Dyke show on DVD

[00:12:17] Come on now, you get it with it

[00:12:19] So I recently got the Blu-ray set, right?

[00:12:21] Mm-hmm

[00:12:22] And I'm in season two

[00:12:24] And did you watch the special feature of the

[00:12:27] It may look like a walnut in color

[00:12:30] I did

[00:12:31] Yeah, it's so disorienting

[00:12:33] It is, it's really weird

[00:12:34] Because sometimes when you think it's going to look

[00:12:36] A certain way

[00:12:38] And it doesn't

[00:12:39] Like the walls and stuff were colors

[00:12:41] You never expect them to be

[00:12:43] And part of me wishes there was like

[00:12:45] They'd done both on those discs

[00:12:47] So you could like watch the whole series in color

[00:12:49] Yeah

[00:12:51] Obviously I like the black and white just fine

[00:12:53] But it's just, having seen it so many times

[00:12:55] In black and white it's just like

[00:12:57] What would it look like in color

[00:12:58] Even though it's like fake color

[00:12:59] Do you think they have those

[00:13:01] That film somewhere where it's

[00:13:04] You know, colored film everywhere

[00:13:06] Or do you think it's just

[00:13:08] I think it's just shot in black and white

[00:13:11] The colored, it may look like a walnut

[00:13:13] They just digitally colored all the frames

[00:13:16] I was reading that there was a test

[00:13:18] That they were testing it

[00:13:19] To see what it looked like or something

[00:13:21] They probably didn't like

[00:13:22] Oh god this is going to cost a lot of money

[00:13:26] That's alright

[00:13:27] You know I still love it in black

[00:13:28] And it looks great on blu-ray

[00:13:29] We've said it many times

[00:13:30] But it cleans up nicely

[00:13:33] So does Laura Petrie

[00:13:37] This is the box office numbers

[00:13:39] For the number one movie in America last week

[00:13:47] Maleficent was number one

[00:13:48] 69 million dollars

[00:13:52] The one thing that's really cool about it

[00:13:54] Is it is a

[00:13:57] A woman led

[00:13:59] Like tent pole movie

[00:14:00] It's cool to see

[00:14:02] You know, the women stars

[00:14:03] Being able to

[00:14:05] Get their big

[00:14:06] Big moment to shine in a blockbuster movie

[00:14:08] Because usually it's the man who lead them

[00:14:10] The movie we saw a million ways to die in the west

[00:14:12] 16.7 million

[00:14:14] Which some people are shocked

[00:14:15] But you know honestly I'm not too shocked

[00:14:17] Just because it's a little

[00:14:18] It's a little tough sell

[00:14:20] Like a

[00:14:21] A ranchy western

[00:14:22] And westerns I was looking

[00:14:23] Don't have the greatest track record anyways

[00:14:26] At box office nowadays

[00:14:27] Yeah they're not that popular for some reason

[00:14:29] Yeah

[00:14:30] And then

[00:14:32] I don't know

[00:14:34] I'm kind of shocked at the

[00:14:36] Ted audience and come back out for it

[00:14:39] Yeah, you know or something

[00:14:40] Because you know Neil Patrick Harris

[00:14:41] Is pretty popular now too

[00:14:42] You'd think maybe he'd help

[00:14:44] Boost ticket sales but I guess no one gave a shit

[00:14:46] Yeah I can understand maybe not

[00:14:47] A lot of repeat viewing

[00:14:49] But the fact that

[00:14:51] I don't know

[00:14:52] They should just stop doing

[00:14:53] Like major comedies in the summer

[00:14:55] Because there's

[00:14:56] There's too many other like action stuff

[00:14:58] Just like

[00:14:59] Well I feel too some movies kind of got

[00:15:01] I think they

[00:15:02] Bunched movies too much in May

[00:15:04] Because so there could never be one like really big

[00:15:07] Like

[00:15:08] Runaway hit you know what I mean

[00:15:10] There's you couldn't have it because

[00:15:12] If the first week you have Spider-Man

[00:15:14] And then the following week is

[00:15:16] Neighbors which is a

[00:15:18] You know I guess that's somewhat a big comedy

[00:15:20] And then you follow it up with Godzilla

[00:15:21] And then you follow it up the next week with X-Men

[00:15:23] And then you follow it up with Maleficent

[00:15:25] It's like oh let's have as many movies as we can

[00:15:27] And I think that's why

[00:15:28] Captain America really benefited is because

[00:15:30] Had three weeks

[00:15:31] Yeah three weeks yeah you're right

[00:15:33] Three weeks before another movie anybody wanted to see

[00:15:35] Came out

[00:15:36] So

[00:15:37] Yeah because when you look to the

[00:15:39] Tell End of Summer there's not that many

[00:15:41] Great movies coming out and I think I commented

[00:15:44] A couple weeks ago that July 4th

[00:15:46] There's not a cool movie out

[00:15:48] All of July I was looking through

[00:15:49] I'm like nothing is exciting me

[00:15:51] Yeah

[00:15:52] Which is a shame

[00:15:53] Well they did

[00:15:54] Oh you know what

[00:15:55] Before I tell you about that

[00:15:56] Let's go to real news

[00:15:57] It's real news

[00:15:59] They moved

[00:16:01] Jupiter ascending from July into February

[00:16:03] That was like

[00:16:04] Yeah so

[00:16:05] So

[00:16:06] July is even more barren now

[00:16:08] Yeah

[00:16:09] That was the big standout one

[00:16:11] Even though I didn't make me excited

[00:16:13] It didn't make me excited either but you know

[00:16:15] At least you'd think oh

[00:16:17] I can

[00:16:18] Go see this movie

[00:16:19] And then

[00:16:20] I'm like

[00:16:21] I'm like

[00:16:22] I'm like

[00:16:23] I'm like

[00:16:24] I'm like

[00:16:25] I can go see this movie

[00:16:27] And it'll be like

[00:16:29] A spectacle and cool

[00:16:31] And cool the Rockies just wanted 10 innings

[00:16:33] Just wanted to point that out

[00:16:35] They stopped at 10 game losing streak

[00:16:37] 10 game

[00:16:38] I mean 8 game

[00:16:39] 8 game I'm sorry

[00:16:40] Still pretty bad

[00:16:41] Dang

[00:16:42] They needed that

[00:16:43] So way to go Rockies

[00:16:44] Way to go

[00:16:45] What the hell they were doing awesome for a while

[00:16:47] They were

[00:16:48] And then they hit a huge skid

[00:16:50] Good job guys

[00:16:51] They needed that

[00:16:52] Yeah but anyways yeah

[00:16:53] I was reading that

[00:16:55] The Wachowskis were having problem getting the special effects to look right

[00:16:59] And so they needed more time and they couldn't get it done

[00:17:01] And I'm thinking

[00:17:02] I said wow they're still working on the movie

[00:17:04] Allegedly

[00:17:05] And it's June

[00:17:06] Yeah probably has to move

[00:17:08] Because there's no way

[00:17:09] I mean when does a movie have to be

[00:17:10] Well I guess it's digital now

[00:17:12] So I guess it doesn't really have to be done until

[00:17:14] Like the wee hours of

[00:17:15] I mean you know you're producing a blu-ray right now

[00:17:17] That's not gonna be done until

[00:17:19] The wee hours

[00:17:20] I've already promised it and it's not done

[00:17:22] Did you watch

[00:17:23] I don't know if it's on the Star Trek

[00:17:25] The motion picture disc

[00:17:26] It might be on the director's cut

[00:17:28] But

[00:17:29] Or was it

[00:17:30] Rathakon

[00:17:31] One of the two

[00:17:32] They basically got the film prints

[00:17:34] Into theaters like the day of

[00:17:37] Oh really?

[00:17:38] I didn't see that special feature

[00:17:39] I haven't had a chance to watch the special features yet but

[00:17:41] Yeah it's crazy like back in that day

[00:17:42] Because they're not digital

[00:17:43] So it's like

[00:17:44] I mean they have to ship them

[00:17:45] Yeah they have to ship them

[00:17:46] So what would they do

[00:17:47] Send them overnight on a plane

[00:17:48] They'd have to right

[00:17:50] Yeah

[00:17:51] I think they just rush delivered them

[00:17:52] And like of course back then like 79

[00:17:54] Or 82

[00:17:56] There wasn't 3,000 theaters

[00:17:58] It was like 100

[00:18:00] In the nation so

[00:18:01] It wasn't that many to ship too but

[00:18:02] But still I mean that's a huge undertaking

[00:18:06] Man

[00:18:07] So

[00:18:08] That was like blew my mind that they got

[00:18:10] Right down the wire

[00:18:11] That is crazy I have to watch that

[00:18:12] Yeah

[00:18:14] Yeah only the other real news

[00:18:15] This week is

[00:18:17] Actually just before we

[00:18:19] Just as soon as we got back

[00:18:20] They just announced the new movie

[00:18:21] Back they just announced the new director

[00:18:22] For Ant-Man

[00:18:24] Oh

[00:18:25] Sorry let me close that

[00:18:27] As well I'm looking for his name

[00:18:28] Because I forget it

[00:18:29] Josh Trank who's directing the

[00:18:31] What do you do Chronicle

[00:18:32] Chronicle and he's doing Fantastic Four

[00:18:33] Is doing

[00:18:35] The next Star Wars standalone film

[00:18:36] So it's going

[00:18:37] Abrams

[00:18:39] And then who's doing the

[00:18:41] First spin off film

[00:18:43] Well I can't believe I just dropped that dude's name

[00:18:45] Damn it

[00:18:48] Anyways

[00:18:49] Wait so Josh Tranks

[00:18:50] Doing the new

[00:18:52] Ant-Man

[00:18:53] No he's doing the new Star Wars

[00:18:55] So they're doing two spin offs

[00:18:57] And it's going J.J. Abrams

[00:18:58] And who's doing the first spin off

[00:18:59] Is the guy who did Godzilla

[00:19:01] Gareth Edwards

[00:19:02] And then Abrams is gonna

[00:19:04] I don't know if Abrams is gonna do

[00:19:05] The next Star Wars episode 8

[00:19:07] Then after that

[00:19:08] Josh Trank is gonna do

[00:19:10] The follow up to that too

[00:19:11] So who's doing Ant-Man

[00:19:13] Yeah I'm getting there Brad

[00:19:14] I was saying that while I was talking about this

[00:19:16] Okay

[00:19:17] And other

[00:19:19] Marvel news

[00:19:20] Our good old boy

[00:19:22] The 303 is being represented

[00:19:24] As Dr. Strange

[00:19:25] Scott Derrickson

[00:19:26] The director of Sinister

[00:19:28] And the X-Rosemann with the Rose

[00:19:29] And the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil

[00:19:31] Which looks really good

[00:19:32] That's actually the July 4th movie

[00:19:33] That I think looks the coolest

[00:19:35] In July

[00:19:36] I think comes out July 2nd

[00:19:37] He's a cool director

[00:19:39] And if Dr. Strange

[00:19:41] Is gonna be like a horror movie

[00:19:43] That'll be really cool too

[00:19:44] Yeah good for him

[00:19:45] Do you think cause you

[00:19:47] Kind of Twitter friended him

[00:19:49] You think it'll get him on an interview

[00:19:51] I want to really bad

[00:19:53] And the cool thing with him

[00:19:54] Is he

[00:19:57] You know he was really nice

[00:19:59] When I just sent him a message about

[00:20:03] What do you call it

[00:20:04] I just sent him a message about

[00:20:06] Dumb not dumb

[00:20:08] His movie's not that bad

[00:20:11] He did

[00:20:13] Fuck I can't remember his name

[00:20:15] Hellraiser 5

[00:20:16] He did Hellraiser 5 in Fernando

[00:20:17] And I liked it cause it was different

[00:20:19] And then I found out he did

[00:20:20] You know Emily Rose and all that stuff

[00:20:22] And then I just tweeted him

[00:20:23] And I found out he's from Colorado

[00:20:25] Because in Hellraiser 5

[00:20:26] It takes place in Colorado

[00:20:28] And I didn't know he was from there

[00:20:29] Until he started tweeting us

[00:20:31] So Scott Derrickson

[00:20:32] You know come on my show

[00:20:33] And he's a cool filmmaker

[00:20:35] He's different

[00:20:37] Okay cool so here's the breaking news

[00:20:38] That I was getting to

[00:20:41] Peyton Reed

[00:20:43] Who directed

[00:20:45] The Breakup

[00:20:46] Is going to make Ant-Man

[00:20:48] With

[00:20:50] Adam McKay

[00:20:51] It's probably my phone telling me

[00:20:52] The Rockies one

[00:20:54] That

[00:20:56] Who directed

[00:20:57] Yeah

[00:20:58] The Breakup is directing

[00:20:59] Ant-Man

[00:21:00] And Adam McKay is gonna write it

[00:21:02] I guess maybe just do a

[00:21:04] Touch-up of the script

[00:21:05] Cause don't they already have

[00:21:06] To start filming it

[00:21:07] In the next couple weeks

[00:21:09] To get it done

[00:21:11] So we're considering all the

[00:21:12] Speculation

[00:21:13] Yeah

[00:21:14] Beforehand

[00:21:15] I literally just clicked on it

[00:21:17] Happened to pop up as soon as I came in

[00:21:19] You go from

[00:21:20] Edgar Wright to Peyton Reed

[00:21:23] Yep

[00:21:24] I guess he did something

[00:21:28] Yep

[00:21:29] You know I thought that would be awesome

[00:21:30] That like if DC was smart

[00:21:32] They should wrap up

[00:21:33] Edgar Wright for one of their DCs

[00:21:35] Like do Aquaman or

[00:21:37] Something that's

[00:21:38] Yeah something like Aquaman

[00:21:39] Where people are like

[00:21:40] I don't give a shit about him

[00:21:41] Fuck him

[00:21:42] Because he would bring something

[00:21:43] Unique and let him keep his voice

[00:21:45] I was

[00:21:46] It's really interesting

[00:21:47] I was listening to a Hollywood

[00:21:48] Babylon with Kevin Smith

[00:21:50] And he

[00:21:52] Kind of he was telling me

[00:21:54] The reason he thinks is because

[00:21:56] Edgar Wright thinks so much out of the box

[00:21:58] That

[00:21:59] That's why

[00:22:01] Marvel had issues with him

[00:22:02] Because Marvel has their hand

[00:22:03] On everything in it

[00:22:04] Yeah

[00:22:05] They went stick to their formula

[00:22:06] Exactly and he said

[00:22:07] The reason he thinks this

[00:22:08] Is because he was talking to Chris Evans

[00:22:10] And

[00:22:11] Just saying hey Chris

[00:22:12] He did a really great job

[00:22:13] In

[00:22:14] Captain America too

[00:22:15] He said yeah thanks a lot

[00:22:16] But

[00:22:17] I'm told how to do things

[00:22:18] In that movie

[00:22:19] Like he's told how to act

[00:22:20] And told

[00:22:21] What to do and how to

[00:22:23] Go about it

[00:22:24] So it's really interesting

[00:22:25] So I'm sure

[00:22:26] If they do it on the acting level

[00:22:28] I mean it has to be

[00:22:29] On the directing level

[00:22:30] Probably even more so

[00:22:31] Yeah well

[00:22:32] Marvel better be careful

[00:22:33] With how much control

[00:22:34] They have because

[00:22:35] As Star Wars said

[00:22:37] The more you tighten your grip

[00:22:38] The more Starship systems

[00:22:40] Will slip through your fingers

[00:22:41] Yeah we'll see

[00:22:42] Yeah

[00:22:43] But DC should take advantage of that

[00:22:44] They really should

[00:22:45] They really should

[00:22:46] Because you have a guy

[00:22:47] Who loves comics

[00:22:48] And who loves that stuff

[00:22:49] I mean you can make a really cool

[00:22:51] Heck get him to reboot Green Lantern

[00:22:53] I'm sure he'll find a way

[00:22:54] To do it

[00:22:55] He's inventive

[00:22:56] Yeah you know

[00:22:57] Because honestly too

[00:22:58] You know I sent out a little message

[00:22:59] I'm kind of

[00:23:00] I really dig the character design

[00:23:01] Of Batgirl

[00:23:02] I've never read a Batgirl comic

[00:23:03] I have no idea what it's about

[00:23:05] But this week

[00:23:06] For comic book corner

[00:23:08] I have a Batgirl comic

[00:23:09] For you to read

[00:23:12] Shup nerds it's the comic's corner

[00:23:16] I don't know I just always love

[00:23:17] The Barbara Gordon look

[00:23:18] The

[00:23:20] The cow with like a red hair out

[00:23:22] And the little

[00:23:23] Bat wings for her cape

[00:23:25] And her boobs

[00:23:26] And her boobs

[00:23:27] And her

[00:23:28] Tight little butt

[00:23:30] But no

[00:23:31] Have you ever liked Batgirl

[00:23:32] As a character?

[00:23:33] I don't know you're more in the

[00:23:34] Batman universe

[00:23:35] I collected some of the comics

[00:23:36] For a while

[00:23:37] I think when Gale Simone

[00:23:38] Was writing or something

[00:23:39] It was alright

[00:23:40] I mean

[00:23:41] Wait

[00:23:42] No she was still Oracle then

[00:23:44] Maybe it was Birds of Prey

[00:23:46] I don't know

[00:23:47] But yeah

[00:23:48] The character's cool

[00:23:49] I just

[00:23:50] Haven't collected as many comics

[00:23:51] Lately so I haven't followed

[00:23:52] Yeah well the new 52

[00:23:53] I know it's back to Barbara Gordon

[00:23:57] And it's

[00:23:58] I will tell you that

[00:23:59] I got this series of

[00:24:00] Death of the Family

[00:24:01] Which in the Batman run

[00:24:02] I freaking loved

[00:24:03] Because it was really different

[00:24:05] I was expecting this huge

[00:24:07] In the Batman side

[00:24:08] I was expecting huge

[00:24:09] Batman Joker battle

[00:24:11] And it really was just a battle

[00:24:12] Of wits

[00:24:13] And battle of smarts

[00:24:15] And you're going to do this

[00:24:17] To be I'm going to do that to you

[00:24:18] And what's really cool is

[00:24:20] I think I enjoyed this series

[00:24:21] So if you pick up

[00:24:22] Batgirl

[00:24:23] The new 52 version

[00:24:25] Issues 13 through 16

[00:24:27] It ties into that

[00:24:28] And it ties into

[00:24:33] The story

[00:24:34] But it's told from a different

[00:24:35] Point of view

[00:24:36] So it's like you're seeing

[00:24:38] You know a director's cut of it

[00:24:39] Or something

[00:24:40] So you see different parts unfold

[00:24:42] How she gets captured and stuff

[00:24:43] And it's really fascinating

[00:24:45] And the art in it is fantastic

[00:24:46] Gelsamone's writing it as well

[00:24:48] So I even got the

[00:24:50] The prologue first

[00:24:52] And it's still pretty good

[00:24:53] So I think I might go back

[00:24:54] And maybe I'll start on

[00:24:55] The new 52 run

[00:24:56] Because it's all Gelsamone

[00:24:58] And I really like her

[00:24:59] Tomb Raider book

[00:25:01] So and I

[00:25:02] Yeah and the art's fantastic

[00:25:03] It's Ed Benes

[00:25:05] Yeah it's fun

[00:25:07] You know I didn't know if I'd like her as a character

[00:25:08] I really just like her character design

[00:25:09] I'm like fuck it

[00:25:10] I'll take a chance who cares

[00:25:11] Because I'm always looking for new comics to read

[00:25:14] I like her new costume too

[00:25:16] Like they put more detail into it

[00:25:17] Rather than just spandex

[00:25:18] Yeah

[00:25:19] Like it looks like a tactical suit

[00:25:21] Yeah you know it's just

[00:25:22] So I did actually already pre-ordered

[00:25:23] Her new 52 action figure

[00:25:26] It doesn't come out until October

[00:25:27] But

[00:25:29] I really

[00:25:30] And the one thing I think DC does

[00:25:31] Do better is I think their DC direct line

[00:25:33] Is really cool

[00:25:35] Marvel has their Marvel Legends line

[00:25:36] But they don't release them as frequently as DC

[00:25:40] So I already ordered that one

[00:25:43] So I'll have it in October

[00:25:45] My own Batgirl action figure

[00:25:47] Which will go next to my Harley Quinn's

[00:25:48] Or something I don't know

[00:25:51] So yeah pick up Batgirl 13 through 16

[00:25:54] It's a

[00:25:56] The thing with the death of

[00:25:58] A death of the family

[00:25:59] People should know really soon

[00:26:00] Is it not a very happy book

[00:26:02] It's pretty depressing

[00:26:04] All around

[00:26:05] So

[00:26:07] Cause I don't know you read the death of the family

[00:26:09] You weren't impressed with it as much as I was

[00:26:11] No I liked it

[00:26:13] I just thought there was really some haunting images in it

[00:26:15] And

[00:26:16] Yeah did you

[00:26:18] Well I guess you probably

[00:26:19] They just released a Joker face edition

[00:26:21] Of the collected volume

[00:26:22] No I didn't see that one

[00:26:23] Like it's a box set where you get like

[00:26:25] The skinned off Joker face

[00:26:27] Oh I did I heard about it

[00:26:28] But I heard about it

[00:26:30] And it looked interesting

[00:26:32] It looks gruesome

[00:26:33] Like that box set

[00:26:35] Oh that's awesome

[00:26:36] That fleshy face

[00:26:38] But I

[00:26:40] Yeah it's just the really dark books

[00:26:41] And I mean my favorite actual little

[00:26:44] Bit about it is

[00:26:46] I don't know if it's the last issue

[00:26:47] Or it's a second to last issue

[00:26:49] But

[00:26:50] You know it's talking about

[00:26:52] Bruce is talking to

[00:26:54] I think it's

[00:26:56] Damien Wayne I forget who

[00:26:57] About the Joker in their first encounter

[00:26:58] When

[00:26:59] He got back to the Batcave

[00:27:00] And he found the Joker's little playing card

[00:27:01] On his

[00:27:03] Bat

[00:27:04] Bat boat

[00:27:05] I don't know what his Bat boat called

[00:27:07] Bat ski boat

[00:27:09] It's called the

[00:27:10] The boat wing

[00:27:13] And he's talking about it

[00:27:14] And I went back to Arkham Asylum

[00:27:16] And he's like

[00:27:17] You dropped this

[00:27:18] And he didn't care who Bruce Wayne was

[00:27:20] He could give two shits

[00:27:21] He just wanted to kill Batman

[00:27:23] It's a cool little psychological thriller

[00:27:26] So yeah pick up Batgirl

[00:27:28] I um

[00:27:29] Dammit maybe for God's sake

[00:27:32] Uh

[00:27:33] Scott Snyder what

[00:27:35] Come on

[00:27:37] Oh yeah I heard an interview

[00:27:38] Like I'm Batman on Batman

[00:27:40] I came up with an interview with

[00:27:41] Scott Snyder

[00:27:42] And I

[00:27:43] I enjoyed his take on

[00:27:45] The Joker of being

[00:27:47] The Joker

[00:27:49] Feels like he's part of

[00:27:50] Batman's

[00:27:52] Arsenal

[00:27:54] Like

[00:27:55] He's the jester

[00:27:56] In Batman's court

[00:27:57] And like

[00:27:58] Instead of feeling Batman is like his villain

[00:27:59] He's actually more like his king

[00:28:01] And so he has to

[00:28:02] Like he does all this crazy stuff

[00:28:03] To like

[00:28:04] Serve the Batman

[00:28:06] Interesting

[00:28:07] Yeah it's

[00:28:09] You're more of a Batman fan than I am

[00:28:11] But I do love

[00:28:12] I do love Batman's big stories

[00:28:14] For some reason

[00:28:15] I really like

[00:28:16] I loved Hush

[00:28:17] I love the mystery about it

[00:28:19] Um

[00:28:20] And obviously the art

[00:28:21] Jim Lee's art

[00:28:22] Um and this

[00:28:23] The death of the family

[00:28:24] I think it was amazing

[00:28:25] Um this Batgirl

[00:28:26] I'll get on cause again

[00:28:27] I have no preconceived notions

[00:28:28] Of the history about it

[00:28:29] But you're such a Batman fan

[00:28:30] You get those goofy old Batman comics

[00:28:32] Are they fun to read

[00:28:33] Or is it hard to read them

[00:28:34] I mean I guess what

[00:28:36] The really old ones

[00:28:37] They're pretty ridiculous

[00:28:38] Like I said there's the

[00:28:39] There's the guy who's a pent

[00:28:40] Yeah the eraser head

[00:28:41] You know cause when we go

[00:28:42] To comic stores

[00:28:43] And you're like

[00:28:44] You know when there's

[00:28:45] Cells or something say

[00:28:46] How am I going to get this one

[00:28:47] You show me the covers

[00:28:48] I'm like what the fuck are you getting

[00:28:49] Um

[00:28:50] And but I guess there's

[00:28:51] Some sort of

[00:28:53] Charm to it

[00:28:54] Oh yeah

[00:28:56] The weird thing is to think that

[00:28:59] Like people older than us

[00:29:02] Grew up with that

[00:29:03] And like to them

[00:29:04] Those were the smart stories

[00:29:06] Like the really talented stuff

[00:29:08] And then I read them and I'm like

[00:29:10] Wow the bar was really low

[00:29:12] But yeah comics just

[00:29:13] Become a thing so

[00:29:15] Like nowadays like they're really

[00:29:17] Like I don't think people

[00:29:19] Appreciate how elaborate

[00:29:20] And like complicated

[00:29:22] Comics have become

[00:29:23] Oh yeah and even with the

[00:29:25] Art I actually just read

[00:29:27] As Amazing Spider-Man 105

[00:29:29] And it's a

[00:29:32] I mean it's an okay book

[00:29:34] It's actually

[00:29:35] I forgot the little story behind it is

[00:29:40] Stan Lee stopped writing

[00:29:41] Spider-Man after issue 101

[00:29:43] And then he went away

[00:29:44] And he came back and rewrote 105

[00:29:46] And I actually

[00:29:47] I think Mile High Comics

[00:29:48] Mispriced it

[00:29:49] Because it's an old issue

[00:29:50] It's from 1971

[00:29:51] And they were having their 60% off

[00:29:53] So I got it for $7

[00:29:55] And I think it's like a hundred

[00:29:56] Dollar comic

[00:29:57] Because they had it listed as fine

[00:29:59] Which the

[00:30:01] You know grading it goes

[00:30:03] Like fine is on the lower end

[00:30:05] Because then it goes very fine

[00:30:07] The near mint

[00:30:08] In it like the corners are all

[00:30:10] Sharp

[00:30:11] The pages are beautiful

[00:30:12] I think they totally

[00:30:13] Mislabeled this comic

[00:30:14] I don't know where they got

[00:30:15] The fine from it but

[00:30:16] But again it's just like this

[00:30:18] Dorky

[00:30:19] Oh I'm gonna

[00:30:20] Spider-Man fights a spider slayer

[00:30:22] In the shape of a spider

[00:30:23] That G. Jonah Jamison is controlling

[00:30:26] Yeah expectations were low back then

[00:30:29] Like now it's like everything has to

[00:30:31] Tie into other story lines

[00:30:33] And all the like in the 93

[00:30:35] I was collecting Nightfall

[00:30:36] And like they're still printing them

[00:30:37] On newsprint

[00:30:38] Yeah

[00:30:39] And then like

[00:30:40] At the time I was like

[00:30:41] Don't we have paper better than this?

[00:30:43] And then I started collecting them again

[00:30:45] In like the early 2000s

[00:30:46] And like they finally had like glossy pages

[00:30:47] And like now they're all

[00:30:48] Like that it's just

[00:30:50] You know that's one of those images though

[00:30:52] In the Batman universe that stuck with me

[00:30:54] Is Bane breaking Batman's back

[00:30:56] That cover by Kelly Jones is amazing

[00:30:58] I wore the shit out of that comic

[00:30:59] See I even remember the artist

[00:31:00] Because I remember how amazing that comic is

[00:31:02] Wait who?

[00:31:03] Kelly Jones

[00:31:04] He just did the cover

[00:31:05] Yeah I mean the cover I remember

[00:31:06] Oh yeah they recycled that like

[00:31:08] Pose over and over again for different

[00:31:10] Events

[00:31:11] It's just so iconic

[00:31:12] Yeah

[00:31:13] But yeah it's just really fascinating

[00:31:15] You're right seeing comics now

[00:31:16] Cause the one thing you know

[00:31:17] I'm a huge Spider-Man fan

[00:31:18] But I'm really nervous cause the next

[00:31:20] This

[00:31:21] And the next three or four issues are amazing

[00:31:23] They're gonna start doing things called

[00:31:24] Spider-Verse

[00:31:25] Where they're gonna have every incarnation

[00:31:27] Of Spider-Man

[00:31:29] In the same book

[00:31:30] I'm like oh this reeks of

[00:31:32] Infinite Crisis or something

[00:31:34] Seeing your favorite one

[00:31:35] The Scott McFar...

[00:31:36] Or Todd McBarlane

[00:31:37] Oh yeah

[00:31:38] Where he's all contorted and

[00:31:41] Van'em will probably show up

[00:31:43] Make it horrible

[00:31:44] You know I should

[00:31:45] I wonder

[00:31:46] Kelly Jones isn't coming to

[00:31:48] Denver Comic Con is he?

[00:31:49] I don't think so I didn't see him on there

[00:31:51] But we will

[00:31:52] There is some people I really want to get on

[00:31:54] There's some Batman artists and

[00:31:57] I mean Kevin Conroy is gonna be the

[00:31:59] Big one I'm gonna shoot for

[00:32:01] You know we'll see

[00:32:02] Oh my god if you get him on

[00:32:04] You gotta have him do an intro

[00:32:05] Oh are you kidding me

[00:32:06] And see you know the one question

[00:32:07] I think the one thing that people

[00:32:09] Kind of forget about Conroy

[00:32:11] Is yeah his Batman's great

[00:32:12] I think his Bruce Wayne's better

[00:32:14] Because you know of course his Batman's awesome

[00:32:16] But how he actually makes

[00:32:18] Bruce Wayne's voice higher

[00:32:20] And more...

[00:32:21] Swab

[00:32:22] Swab and kind of like a buffoon though

[00:32:24] That he's like oh what's happening

[00:32:26] You know what I mean

[00:32:27] Like it's an interesting take on Bruce Wayne

[00:32:29] And I think it's really good

[00:32:31] But it's only public Bruce Wayne

[00:32:33] Because when Bruce Wayne is talking to

[00:32:35] Alfred or something he's Batman

[00:32:37] It's a really cool performance

[00:32:38] I don't think a lot of people

[00:32:39] I don't want to really ask him about those questions

[00:32:41] You know because I think that's

[00:32:43] His best performance that no one talks about

[00:32:45] Is his public Bruce Wayne

[00:32:47] I still want to hear like

[00:32:49] I am the knight

[00:32:50] I am real nerds podcast

[00:32:52] Oh dude

[00:32:53] Ask him

[00:32:54] Batman fan

[00:32:55] I'll just take the recorder with me

[00:32:57] And hide my pocket and like

[00:32:58] Hey guy

[00:32:59] Well see

[00:33:00] I'll show you know I can see the sun here

[00:33:02] But I got this

[00:33:04] Ash print

[00:33:05] That's really badass

[00:33:06] I'm gonna have Bruce Campbell sign it

[00:33:08] Nice

[00:33:09] Oh that's from

[00:33:10] Eslinger

[00:33:11] Yeah

[00:33:12] I'm gonna sign it and I'm gonna frame it

[00:33:14] Because I think that'll be unique

[00:33:16] And I want Bruce Campbell to be like

[00:33:18] Alright you print with screw heads

[00:33:20] Listen up

[00:33:21] This is the real nerds podcast

[00:33:22] That would make me cry

[00:33:24] Sorry Jonathan we have to run that for a while

[00:33:26] Yeah

[00:33:27] Oh we're gonna try everybody

[00:33:28] You know we're recording on this little thing

[00:33:29] That you have so

[00:33:30] I'm gonna drag you around

[00:33:31] And things like that

[00:33:33] So hopefully we'll do it

[00:33:34] I'm hoping that since we're gonna be paying

[00:33:36] For their autographs

[00:33:37] We'll be willing to say stuff like that

[00:33:38] Are you paying for autographs?

[00:33:39] I'm gonna get Bruce Campbell's yeah

[00:33:41] Sorry I was thinking of something else

[00:33:43] I was browsing around the Denver Comic Con website

[00:33:45] And they have the photo ops thing

[00:33:47] Oh my god

[00:33:48] Yeah

[00:33:49] That's expensive

[00:33:50] They are

[00:33:51] They're like as much as an autograph

[00:33:53] Yeah

[00:33:54] So with Adam West and Bert Ward and Julie Neumar

[00:33:56] I'm sure that's definitely worth it

[00:33:58] Yeah but

[00:33:59] I mean what does the photo op entail though

[00:34:01] I don't

[00:34:02] You know what I mean

[00:34:03] I don't know what it entails

[00:34:04] Do you get like a really cool picture with them

[00:34:06] Or do you just come out and they take it on a camera

[00:34:08] Yeah I'm sure you just go to photo booth

[00:34:10] Oh and they're there for a certain amount of time

[00:34:12] Yeah

[00:34:13] I have no idea

[00:34:14] I've never done that stuff before so I don't know

[00:34:16] Yeah me either

[00:34:17] We'll find out June 13th through the 15th

[00:34:19] And if you're looking for a good place to get comic books

[00:34:22] Colorado Coins, Cars & Comics

[00:34:23] And our Vata Colorado is a place to go

[00:34:25] We forgot to mention this earlier

[00:34:26] But the actual programming schedule

[00:34:28] Is online on Denver Comic Con right now

[00:34:30] Oh yeah

[00:34:31] The programming section it's a PDF

[00:34:32] You just open that up

[00:34:33] And check out where all the times

[00:34:35] That things are across the different days

[00:34:37] There's a ton of stuff going on

[00:34:39] I know I really kissed their ass about getting the Bruce Campbell thing

[00:34:41] I wonder if I'm going to get it

[00:34:42] Yeah I was trying to look for like the star panels

[00:34:45] To see who's like counter programmed against the pod show

[00:34:48] And then see none of the major people

[00:34:52] Are listed on there

[00:34:53] It seems kind of late

[00:34:54] I'm pretty sure the latest panel I did

[00:34:57] Was James Masters and that was on Sunday

[00:34:59] It was like at three in the afternoon

[00:35:01] So they're all morning stuff usually

[00:35:02] Yeah they're like midday stuff

[00:35:03] That's good

[00:35:04] Cause it's not San Diego yet

[00:35:06] It's not like Kevin Smith doing a three hour Q&A

[00:35:08] And a huge haul

[00:35:09] But

[00:35:10] I was looking for just to see who would be

[00:35:13] Like what's going on that other people would not

[00:35:16] Would not come to ours

[00:35:17] Yeah

[00:35:18] Maybe it's the Brony one

[00:35:20] Or like the Bruce Campbell is doing his

[00:35:22] Like you can't be at the pod show

[00:35:24] Oh yeah

[00:35:25] Well that'd probably be the only

[00:35:27] Yeah that's tough

[00:35:28] Sorry guys

[00:35:29] That's tough

[00:35:30] That's really tough

[00:35:31] Brad you got this right

[00:35:32] But we gotta make sure I bring somebody with me

[00:35:35] To these panels I'm doing

[00:35:36] Because I need pictures and stuff

[00:35:37] Yeah

[00:35:39] If anyone wants to photograph

[00:35:41] The real nerds this year

[00:35:42] We'll have a pass

[00:35:43] We should have a pass

[00:35:45] For them

[00:35:46] For them? Yeah I don't know

[00:35:47] I don't know yet

[00:35:48] We'll have to see

[00:35:49] Yeah

[00:35:50] Because we do

[00:35:51] Need a little more information

[00:35:52] But I think we're going

[00:35:53] Cause we do need people to watch our booth

[00:35:54] While we are doing this stuff

[00:35:55] Is your wife going?

[00:35:56] She has Friday and Saturday off

[00:35:58] So

[00:36:00] She can

[00:36:01] I don't know how long she wants to stay

[00:36:02] I'm being pregnant and all

[00:36:03] Like it's probably

[00:36:04] Yeah it's probably not the most comfortable thing

[00:36:06] We'll see

[00:36:07] Yeah hopefully someone can fill in

[00:36:09] Yeah we just need someone to stand there

[00:36:10] And hand out our business cards

[00:36:11] Yeah I'd like someone to film the panel

[00:36:13] That'd be nice

[00:36:14] It's a bonus feature on season 2

[00:36:16] Oh yeah that'd be sweet

[00:36:17] Good idea

[00:36:18] So

[00:36:19] Send us your resume

[00:36:20] Yeah send us your resume

[00:36:22] Or just say hi

[00:36:24] Where does that get your shit together

[00:36:25] Yeah come on

[00:36:26] You wanted to do a documentary

[00:36:27] Of podcasting

[00:36:28] You said he was going to film

[00:36:29] Maybe not of Comic Con

[00:36:31] So we'll see

[00:36:32] Hopefully he'll do it

[00:36:33] Well I'd be surprised if they didn't

[00:36:35] Because we're giving them a free pass

[00:36:37] They should

[00:36:38] And the media pass

[00:36:39] Here's the thing

[00:36:40] I'll sweeten this little pot

[00:36:41] You guys know when you have the media pass

[00:36:44] That you don't have to wait in line

[00:36:45] So if you come and help us

[00:36:46] You go through the back door

[00:36:48] You go through the back door

[00:36:50] And you don't have to wait in lines

[00:36:51] For anything

[00:36:52] Well obviously like if you're getting food

[00:36:53] Or something

[00:36:54] But getting on the show floor

[00:36:57] Getting into panels

[00:36:58] Just saying you don't have to

[00:37:00] And don't send us like

[00:37:02] Oh I've held a camera

[00:37:04] I can shoot stuff

[00:37:05] You know I'm a filmmaker

[00:37:07] I know quality work is

[00:37:09] So don't try to fake us out

[00:37:11] Yeah we need help

[00:37:12] So just let us know

[00:37:13] If you can do it Zach anybody

[00:37:15] Maybe Ryan can help us out

[00:37:16] Or

[00:37:17] Oh yeah

[00:37:18] We'll figure it out

[00:37:20] As soon as we get more details

[00:37:22] Then we'll help you

[00:37:23] Man we went off really bad here

[00:37:26] But just pick up that girl

[00:37:28] This is the stuff we've been watching

[00:37:31] So yeah this is the stuff we've been watching

[00:37:35] That's alright I didn't watch that much this week Brad

[00:37:37] It'll be quick

[00:37:38] I did watch

[00:37:40] Seven episodes of Game of Thrones season 3

[00:37:42] My turn season 3 already

[00:37:44] Yeah it's a

[00:37:46] Again I think the show is really good

[00:37:48] I don't know what James is saying

[00:37:49] It's like so gross

[00:37:50] There's really just a drama

[00:37:51] They don't really show that much

[00:37:52] Like

[00:37:53] Bloodletting

[00:37:54] There's really not that much sex

[00:37:55] And I mean I think

[00:37:56] Every episode does have a naked chicken

[00:37:58] But there's really not that much sex

[00:37:59] It's not like Spartacus

[00:38:00] People are saying how much sex there is in it

[00:38:03] But every time I've seen parts of it

[00:38:05] I've never run into that

[00:38:06] Well here's the thing

[00:38:07] Their episodes are

[00:38:09] Like an hour and four minutes long

[00:38:11] And there's like one naked chicken

[00:38:14] For a minute

[00:38:15] So you have another

[00:38:17] Hour and three minutes

[00:38:19] Where there's no sex going on

[00:38:21] But yeah it's really not that violent

[00:38:23] I mean there is some violence in it

[00:38:25] But

[00:38:26] I don't know

[00:38:27] I mean it's really good

[00:38:28] It's wonderfully shot

[00:38:29] It's wonderfully acted

[00:38:30] I really enjoy the show

[00:38:31] But you know when James was telling us

[00:38:33] About how bad it is

[00:38:34] And stuff I was expecting

[00:38:35] You know something worse than Spartacus

[00:38:37] Because I don't think Spartacus is

[00:38:38] Well it is bad

[00:38:39] But me

[00:38:40] Me

[00:38:41] Speaking of Spartacus

[00:38:42] Did you see like

[00:38:43] Who

[00:38:44] Showtime might be picking up Spartacus

[00:38:46] What

[00:38:47] I didn't see that

[00:38:48] Someone's trying to pick it up

[00:38:49] That'd be awesome

[00:38:50] Yeah

[00:38:51] So yeah

[00:38:52] So Game of Thrones is fun

[00:38:53] The actors are fun in it

[00:38:55] Is it weird that more are great things

[00:38:57] I hear about the less

[00:38:58] Interested you are

[00:38:59] Yeah

[00:39:00] It's probably like you and Breaking Bad

[00:39:01] Yeah

[00:39:02] I still haven't watched your Breaking Bad yet

[00:39:04] A single episode

[00:39:05] I've never seen a single episode of Breaking Bad

[00:39:06] Yeah

[00:39:07] I just

[00:39:08] All this stuff online

[00:39:09] Game of Thrones is

[00:39:10] HBO's like

[00:39:11] Most

[00:39:12] Praise show ever

[00:39:13] I'm just like

[00:39:14] Whatever

[00:39:15] Fuck you

[00:39:16] Yeah

[00:39:17] You know the only reason

[00:39:18] I really got into it

[00:39:19] Is

[00:39:20] I forgot what I

[00:39:21] Bought

[00:39:22] That I got

[00:39:23] This pilot on Blu-ray for free

[00:39:25] Some HBO thing

[00:39:27] I don't remember what it was

[00:39:29] But anyways

[00:39:30] I got the pilot

[00:39:31] And I watched the pilot

[00:39:32] And I was like

[00:39:33] Yeah that's alright

[00:39:34] But it really never

[00:39:35] Peaked my interest to watch the show

[00:39:36] And

[00:39:37] But people kept on talking about it

[00:39:38] And I was like

[00:39:39] Yeah fuck it who cares

[00:39:40] And I started watching

[00:39:41] I really enjoy it

[00:39:42] What's the appeal

[00:39:43] Cause like no one ever talks about

[00:39:44] Like their favorite character

[00:39:45] Or

[00:39:46] Interesting plot points

[00:39:47] Other than the red wedding

[00:39:48] Like

[00:39:49] You know the appeal is just

[00:39:50] It's

[00:39:51] Like the actors are really great

[00:39:52] It's a political drama really

[00:39:53] Set to fantasy stuff

[00:39:55] You don't like madmen

[00:39:56] But you'll watch political drama

[00:39:58] Well yeah because in this one

[00:39:59] There's like this

[00:40:00] Girl named Khaleesi

[00:40:01] Who's the dragon queen

[00:40:02] Or something

[00:40:03] So she has pet dragons

[00:40:04] And

[00:40:05] She trades a dragon

[00:40:06] For all the slaves

[00:40:07] So she can build an army

[00:40:08] To claim her throne

[00:40:09] Cause it's a game of throne

[00:40:10] So it's peace

[00:40:11] People

[00:40:12] Are putting claims on this throne

[00:40:13] Because the one king died

[00:40:15] And everybody

[00:40:16] It's all about getting that

[00:40:17] Spikey chair

[00:40:18] Yeah and it's

[00:40:19] You know they

[00:40:20] So they go to war over it

[00:40:21] And it's all happening

[00:40:22] Over a chair

[00:40:23] Yeah so you can be

[00:40:24] So you can be ruler of the seven kingdoms

[00:40:25] Right now you're making me sound

[00:40:26] Like a fucking game of throne

[00:40:27] But anyways it's

[00:40:29] Yeah it's just like

[00:40:31] Lots of back stabbing and

[00:40:33] What was the question again

[00:40:36] Why I like it

[00:40:37] What's the appeal

[00:40:38] Cause like no one ever

[00:40:39] Talks about specifics

[00:40:40] Well I mean my favorite character

[00:40:41] Is

[00:40:42] Tyron Lannister

[00:40:43] He's the midget

[00:40:44] It's Peter Dinklage

[00:40:46] He has a name

[00:40:47] He's really good

[00:40:49] He's really funny

[00:40:50] He's really clever

[00:40:51] And so he's my favorite character in it

[00:40:54] John Snow is kind of cool

[00:40:55] But he's

[00:40:56] John Snow is kind of the bland

[00:40:58] Like hero guy

[00:40:59] You know what I mean

[00:41:00] He's

[00:41:01] Oh I fight for the right passage

[00:41:03] And the thing that makes him interesting

[00:41:05] Is Edward's

[00:41:07] Ed Stark who was

[00:41:09] Or Ned Stark

[00:41:10] Who got his head chopped off

[00:41:12] At the end of the first season

[00:41:13] You know Sean Bean

[00:41:14] He dies and everything

[00:41:15] It's his bastard son

[00:41:17] So he didn't even get like

[00:41:19] Stark's last name

[00:41:20] And so he's an interesting character

[00:41:22] He kind of goes off

[00:41:23] And joins like the Rangers

[00:41:25] But I was given

[00:41:27] The first book as a gift this week

[00:41:29] From the vice president

[00:41:30] Of something at Keto

[00:41:31] That I trained

[00:41:32] And he gave me

[00:41:33] The first book

[00:41:34] Because he talked about

[00:41:35] How much he liked

[00:41:36] And I said

[00:41:37] Oh yeah I really like the show

[00:41:38] So as a gift for training

[00:41:39] He gave me the first book

[00:41:40] So I'll read it

[00:41:41] See what it's like

[00:41:42] But yeah I guess the appeal

[00:41:43] Is it's just fun

[00:41:44] Okay

[00:41:45] Yeah I mean

[00:41:46] I know I can't sell you on it

[00:41:47] You really have to watch it

[00:41:48] Because the episodes are so

[00:41:50] Intricate

[00:41:51] And there's so much going on

[00:41:52] And I can't really like

[00:41:53] But yeah she gives

[00:41:54] Anyways I was telling you

[00:41:55] She gives like the dragon

[00:41:56] To the guy who has all the slaves

[00:41:57] Because she's building an army

[00:41:58] And the dragon's not listening

[00:42:00] To him

[00:42:01] And he says

[00:42:02] What won't it listen to me

[00:42:03] And she says

[00:42:04] Fool you can't enslave a dragon

[00:42:05] And the dragon

[00:42:06] Like lights them on fire

[00:42:07] It's awesome

[00:42:08] So she didn't lose that dragon

[00:42:10] Is what I'm saying

[00:42:11] She tricked him

[00:42:12] And that dude is barbecued

[00:42:15] The only other thing

[00:42:16] I've been watching tons of South Park

[00:42:18] I'm bummed though

[00:42:19] And on Amazon

[00:42:20] Season 15

[00:42:21] Dropped to $10

[00:42:22] So I ordered it

[00:42:23] And they sent you the plastic

[00:42:24] Case version

[00:42:25] Sucker

[00:42:26] But the picture I clicked on

[00:42:27] Was not the plastic case one

[00:42:29] I think you

[00:42:30] They're cool

[00:42:31] You probably just claim

[00:42:32] Like the satisfaction

[00:42:33] Over it

[00:42:34] And they'll send you a brand new one

[00:42:35] Yeah you know the thing

[00:42:36] Amazon is really cool

[00:42:37] My friends complete series

[00:42:39] Did I tell you that story

[00:42:40] About the friends that complete series

[00:42:42] Maybe

[00:42:43] Anyways I ordered it

[00:42:45] And I kept on looking

[00:42:47] It wasn't taken out of my bank account

[00:42:49] Then I looked on my orders

[00:42:50] And it just went away

[00:42:51] Like what the fuck

[00:42:52] So I emailed them

[00:42:53] I said hey I ordered this

[00:42:54] I just want to make

[00:42:55] And I haven't been charged

[00:42:56] But I want to make sure

[00:42:57] It doesn't show up

[00:42:58] Blah blah blah blah

[00:42:59] And they sent me this email

[00:43:01] Back and I was like

[00:43:02] Oh yeah sometimes things

[00:43:03] Go out of stock

[00:43:04] And we're sorry we didn't tell you

[00:43:05] If you want to reorder

[00:43:06] We'll overnight it to you for free

[00:43:07] And so I reordered it

[00:43:09] And the price dropped $20

[00:43:11] So me trading in my old friends

[00:43:13] DVDs for $90

[00:43:15] I paid $90 for it

[00:43:16] So I literally broke even

[00:43:19] Upgrading to the blue rays

[00:43:21] And the blue rays

[00:43:22] They actually went back

[00:43:23] To the 35mm negatives

[00:43:25] And made them widescreen

[00:43:27] So in blue ray

[00:43:28] It's widescreen

[00:43:29] It looks amazing

[00:43:30] So it's really cool

[00:43:32] So the only other thing

[00:43:33] Besides South Park I watched

[00:43:34] This week I watched

[00:43:35] Star Trek Episode 3

[00:43:36] The search for Spock

[00:43:37] Oh finally

[00:43:39] And

[00:43:41] I don't think it's bad

[00:43:43] I think there's some parts

[00:43:44] Of really cool

[00:43:45] I didn't know Christopher Lloyd

[00:43:46] As a clean con was in it

[00:43:47] Commander Kruege

[00:43:50] But there is some really interesting

[00:43:52] Again I really like

[00:43:53] William Shatner

[00:43:54] I really do

[00:43:56] I think

[00:43:57] This sounds bad

[00:43:58] But I think because Leonard Neymoy

[00:43:59] Directed it

[00:44:00] It kind of wasn't

[00:44:01] Like the strongest

[00:44:04] Staged

[00:44:05] Of the Star Trek movies

[00:44:06] The production value

[00:44:07] Feels a little sloppy

[00:44:08] It does and I think it's just

[00:44:09] Where the camera is

[00:44:10] Because that final battle

[00:44:11] Between Kirk and the clean con

[00:44:12] Should be cool

[00:44:13] But it's

[00:44:14] It looks like a TV set

[00:44:15] Yeah

[00:44:17] He directed four though

[00:44:18] So he kind of took it together

[00:44:20] But yeah but he

[00:44:21] I didn't know he directed four

[00:44:22] But yeah four looks great

[00:44:23] And four has huge

[00:44:25] Like scale wise

[00:44:26] It's way bigger than three

[00:44:28] But I think the idea again

[00:44:29] The thing I love about

[00:44:30] The Star Trek movies

[00:44:31] Is I love the ideas behind them

[00:44:32] I love

[00:44:35] I mean when I saw that

[00:44:36] The planet being built

[00:44:37] Even without knowing anything

[00:44:38] About the search for Spock

[00:44:39] Like I never even read

[00:44:40] Like a synopsis for it

[00:44:41] I had a feeling that Spock's

[00:44:42] Thing went there

[00:44:43] That he'd be reborn

[00:44:44] But I didn't know

[00:44:45] That you know he was born

[00:44:47] He's aging acceleratedly

[00:44:49] And so the planet was

[00:44:50] Basically killing itself

[00:44:52] Because it was unstable

[00:44:56] And I mean again

[00:44:57] The movie is fun

[00:44:58] And I think it's cool to see

[00:44:59] Like clean gongs

[00:45:01] Because I don't really

[00:45:02] Know anything about them

[00:45:03] But I know they're badass

[00:45:04] And to see them as

[00:45:05] The bad guys

[00:45:07] You know they want to die

[00:45:08] With honor and things like that

[00:45:10] And I don't know too

[00:45:11] You know it's weird

[00:45:12] When you see the Enterprise

[00:45:13] Crash like no

[00:45:15] It's such a cool little

[00:45:16] And so iconic

[00:45:17] That when it crashes

[00:45:18] It's disheartening

[00:45:20] And I mean I saw episode

[00:45:21] Episode four

[00:45:22] I saw the fourth Star Trek

[00:45:23] Are they on the Enterprise

[00:45:24] In the fourth one

[00:45:25] I don't remember

[00:45:26] No they're on the Klingon

[00:45:27] Ship and then they get

[00:45:28] The new Enterprise A

[00:45:29] At the end

[00:45:30] Oh that's right

[00:45:31] Because they use the

[00:45:32] Klingon to go back in time

[00:45:33] Right?

[00:45:34] Yeah

[00:45:35] Double ass hole to you

[00:45:36] I'm actually really excited

[00:45:37] Double the mass on you

[00:45:38] Yeah I'm actually really

[00:45:39] Excited to watch that one again

[00:45:41] But yeah

[00:45:42] You know too

[00:45:43] Also too

[00:45:44] I don't think Kirk really

[00:45:46] Earned being that upset

[00:45:47] That is Sun Tide

[00:45:49] It seemed kind of like

[00:45:50] Forced in in the

[00:45:51] Second Star Trek

[00:45:53] In the Rathakon

[00:45:54] But I don't know if

[00:45:55] In the show

[00:45:56] He had a son and they

[00:45:57] I don't remember

[00:45:58] Again I haven't seen

[00:45:59] I haven't seen two seasons

[00:46:01] Of the original series yet

[00:46:02] So

[00:46:03] But I do love when

[00:46:05] You know his son dies

[00:46:07] Saving the female Vulcan

[00:46:10] Is that like

[00:46:11] Yeah he says

[00:46:12] Klingon bastard

[00:46:14] You killed my son

[00:46:15] And then

[00:46:16] And what's really cool

[00:46:17] About that performance

[00:46:18] Is yeah it's a little

[00:46:19] Over the top

[00:46:21] But what makes

[00:46:22] Kirk such a cool character

[00:46:23] Is he's so pissed

[00:46:24] And then all of a sudden

[00:46:25] Shatter does this thing

[00:46:26] With these looks

[00:46:27] Where all of a sudden

[00:46:28] He figures out what

[00:46:29] He's gonna do

[00:46:30] He figures out that

[00:46:31] He's like oh yeah

[00:46:32] And then

[00:46:33] He's like

[00:46:34] I'm gonna get the Enterprise

[00:46:35] And as soon as those

[00:46:36] Klingons get on board

[00:46:37] I'm gonna self destruct it

[00:46:38] And you can see

[00:46:39] The wills turning

[00:46:40] I don't know what

[00:46:41] He does as an actor

[00:46:42] To make me believe that

[00:46:44] But you know

[00:46:45] When his son's dead

[00:46:46] And he's pissed off

[00:46:47] And then he falls out

[00:46:48] Of his chair

[00:46:49] Then he gets up

[00:46:50] And composes himself

[00:46:51] Because he's a

[00:46:52] You know he's an admiral

[00:46:53] And he's like oh shit

[00:46:54] Here it goes

[00:46:55] Here it comes

[00:46:56] And oh it's awesome

[00:46:57] And then he just

[00:46:58] Outthinks him

[00:47:00] That's kind of

[00:47:01] Popular

[00:47:02] And being like in the hands of

[00:47:03] Of the like

[00:47:04] Really the studos control now

[00:47:05] That Roddenberry's gone

[00:47:06] It's just like

[00:47:08] There's so much pressure

[00:47:09] To make money

[00:47:10] And be accessible

[00:47:11] And feel the audience is

[00:47:12] Well it has to be a franchise now

[00:47:13] Yeah

[00:47:14] Whereas back then

[00:47:15] It was like so cool

[00:47:16] Because you could just like

[00:47:17] Hey I have this idea

[00:47:18] And we should make it like

[00:47:19] Three is pretty much

[00:47:20] Just running around

[00:47:22] Collecting a guy

[00:47:23] From a planet

[00:47:24] Yeah well because you know

[00:47:25] Again

[00:47:26] I forget the guy who plays

[00:47:27] Bones

[00:47:28] But I love him too

[00:47:29] DeForest Kelly

[00:47:30] That's why I'm really excited

[00:47:31] For you to see five because like

[00:47:33] Like the new movies make

[00:47:34] Such a big deal about

[00:47:35] Like it being a Kirk and Spock

[00:47:36] Relationship

[00:47:37] But it's really the three of them

[00:47:38] And the new ones

[00:47:39] Put kind of

[00:47:40] Pushes bones to the side

[00:47:41] Yeah

[00:47:42] But five is like

[00:47:43] They go into like

[00:47:44] Each of their back story

[00:47:45] Together

[00:47:46] Oh really

[00:47:47] Yeah and like people

[00:47:48] You know seem to hate five

[00:47:49] For some reason

[00:47:50] It's not the best one

[00:47:51] But it's still like a good movie

[00:47:52] In some ways

[00:47:53] Well that's true

[00:47:54] I mean you had me really

[00:47:55] Concerned about the first one

[00:47:56] But I still think it's a cool movie

[00:47:57] Man

[00:47:58] There's no way you could pull

[00:47:59] That movie off nowadays

[00:48:00] You could not have the

[00:48:01] Vigor and

[00:48:02] Vigor and

[00:48:03] Vigor

[00:48:04] At the end

[00:48:05] It's a satellite that got lost

[00:48:06] And became self aware

[00:48:07] Yeah there's no way you could

[00:48:08] Pull that on

[00:48:09] Some executives like

[00:48:10] Get out

[00:48:11] But it works

[00:48:12] And I really

[00:48:13] There's no explosions

[00:48:14] I really think

[00:48:15] If they trimmed out

[00:48:16] About ten minutes

[00:48:17] Of them just flying through

[00:48:18] Space

[00:48:19] Yeah

[00:48:20] That movie would be super

[00:48:21] Tight

[00:48:22] It's still a cool movie

[00:48:23] And I mean honestly

[00:48:24] You know when you see

[00:48:25] Them go to the enterprise

[00:48:26] And the lights like

[00:48:27] Flashing on it and stuff

[00:48:28] That's pretty amazing

[00:48:29] And that probably makes

[00:48:30] A blowing up in three

[00:48:32] Because you spent all that time

[00:48:33] Watching it and how

[00:48:34] Lost it was

[00:48:35] And you know

[00:48:36] Again I probably benefit

[00:48:37] From watching them this way

[00:48:39] Just like you know

[00:48:40] Watching Lost or

[00:48:41] Some other show

[00:48:42] Because you know

[00:48:43] I told you

[00:48:44] Seeing the enterprise crash

[00:48:45] Like fuck

[00:48:46] Because it's so iconic

[00:48:47] And so

[00:48:48] They're like oh they just

[00:48:49] Got that shit

[00:48:50] It just burns up

[00:48:51] And it's I mean

[00:48:52] That special effect is

[00:48:53] Really pretty amazing

[00:48:54] In that movie

[00:48:56] So yeah

[00:48:57] I mean besides

[00:48:58] Some little clumsy directing

[00:48:59] In it

[00:49:00] I thought overall

[00:49:01] It's actually pretty good

[00:49:03] It doesn't have the best

[00:49:04] Reputation online

[00:49:05] But I was reading a lot

[00:49:06] And it seems that

[00:49:07] Some people are unfairly

[00:49:08] Bash it for certain things

[00:49:11] I just don't think

[00:49:12] They understand it

[00:49:13] Yeah it's cool

[00:49:14] That it's like

[00:49:16] Almost like a

[00:49:17] Well it is a continuation

[00:49:18] Of two

[00:49:19] But how often

[00:49:20] Do they do that anymore

[00:49:21] It's like

[00:49:22] A new story

[00:49:23] New like yeah

[00:49:24] A complete

[00:49:25] You know

[00:49:26] It's furthering

[00:49:27] That story

[00:49:28] And it even goes into four

[00:49:29] Like

[00:49:30] And two but it's also

[00:49:31] What's really cool

[00:49:32] You know I didn't even mention

[00:49:33] That in two

[00:49:34] They actually did do that stuff

[00:49:35] With Spock where he's no

[00:49:36] He

[00:49:37] Mind melded with somebody

[00:49:39] And they go back

[00:49:40] And they show it again

[00:49:41] And you're like oh yeah

[00:49:42] I mean

[00:49:43] To write a movie like that

[00:49:44] And kind of

[00:49:45] Go back and touch

[00:49:46] Those little key moments in it

[00:49:47] Yeah

[00:49:48] Especially I don't think

[00:49:49] They're planning three

[00:49:50] So

[00:49:51] To be able to like

[00:49:52] Look back at the other movie

[00:49:53] We should take that

[00:49:54] And give it this

[00:49:55] And pinpoint it

[00:49:56] And to go back and show

[00:49:57] Kirk going through

[00:49:58] Like the security cameras

[00:49:59] And trying to figure out

[00:50:00] That's why I love Kirk

[00:50:01] Is he's really smart

[00:50:02] And he uses his

[00:50:04] Brain more so than his

[00:50:05] Brawn

[00:50:06] To beat his enemies

[00:50:08] And that's what I watched

[00:50:09] This week I had fun

[00:50:10] Watching Star Trek

[00:50:11] Nice I can't wait to see you

[00:50:12] And I'll try to

[00:50:13] Get through the rest of them

[00:50:14] This week I

[00:50:15] Keep on getting busy at work

[00:50:16] And I end up leaving

[00:50:17] Work like it's seven

[00:50:18] You're not going to get

[00:50:19] Much done this week

[00:50:20] With Comic Con

[00:50:21] Yeah we'll see

[00:50:22] I'm actually

[00:50:23] I get to leave work early

[00:50:24] This week all the time

[00:50:25] So fingers crossed

[00:50:26] Hopefully I'll be able to do it

[00:50:27] What you watched this week Brad?

[00:50:30] I've been trying to remember

[00:50:32] This whole episode

[00:50:33] We've been watching a lot

[00:50:34] Of Dick Van Dyke on Blu-ray

[00:50:36] Nothing wrong with that

[00:50:37] Nothing wrong with that

[00:50:38] I talked about the color

[00:50:40] Thing about walnut

[00:50:42] I feel like I did

[00:50:43] And I forgot

[00:50:47] Oh man

[00:50:48] Oh

[00:50:52] Okay so

[00:50:54] I didn't watch anything

[00:50:55] New except for a few weeks

[00:50:56] Where I totally forgot

[00:50:57] That I watched Ernest Goes to Jail

[00:50:59] I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid

[00:51:01] It's like three weeks old

[00:51:02] So good luck

[00:51:04] Yeah there was

[00:51:05] How'd this get made

[00:51:06] Podcast I was looking to

[00:51:07] So they watched it

[00:51:08] And one of the things

[00:51:10] They kept saying was like

[00:51:11] This is a kids movie

[00:51:14] So I was like

[00:51:15] I don't think it was made for kids

[00:51:16] I think it's

[00:51:17] Well Ernest was never

[00:51:18] Really kid humor I don't think

[00:51:19] In my

[00:51:20] If I remember correctly

[00:51:21] I think it was just tame humor

[00:51:22] For adults

[00:51:23] Yeah

[00:51:24] Cause like they're right

[00:51:25] They're really messed up stuff

[00:51:26] If this was a kids movie

[00:51:28] There's like

[00:51:29] The villain Ernest

[00:51:32] Tries to almost rape this woman

[00:51:34] You know

[00:51:35] Like throws himself on her

[00:51:37] I did forget that Ernest

[00:51:38] Cross dresses a lot

[00:51:39] In his movies

[00:51:40] In his little bits

[00:51:41] Yeah he plays a big character

[00:51:42] So in Jail

[00:51:43] He also plays the villain

[00:51:44] Who's like

[00:51:45] Not a bumbling idiot

[00:51:46] And then

[00:51:47] He also plays his aunt

[00:51:48] Cause he has the two

[00:51:50] Fallen chains stuffed up

[00:51:52] Oh that's right

[00:51:53] In his dress

[00:51:54] And he always has the lipstick on horribly

[00:51:56] Yeah

[00:51:59] Man it's crazy to think too

[00:52:00] How long ago did Jim Varney die

[00:52:01] Like 15 years ago

[00:52:03] 20 years ago

[00:52:04] At least a Toy Story 2

[00:52:06] So that's 98

[00:52:08] So wow 16 years

[00:52:09] 17 years

[00:52:10] So yeah

[00:52:12] It's a fun movie

[00:52:14] It's obviously really

[00:52:16] Cheaply

[00:52:17] Put together

[00:52:18] And it's very slapsticky

[00:52:22] There's like this

[00:52:23] And then climax has him green screen

[00:52:25] Like cause he

[00:52:26] He develops these magnet powers

[00:52:28] I don't remember this movie at all

[00:52:30] I always remember

[00:52:31] He's digging out

[00:52:32] And he's like

[00:52:33] The poster you know

[00:52:34] Yeah he's digging out

[00:52:35] Yeah

[00:52:36] He's a janitor

[00:52:37] At a bank

[00:52:38] And somehow

[00:52:39] I forget

[00:52:40] He

[00:52:41] Comes in contact with something

[00:52:43] He gets electrocuted

[00:52:45] Was it the

[00:52:46] Do you remember the two

[00:52:47] The guys

[00:52:48] I forget their names

[00:52:49] But they're like

[00:52:50] I think they're brothers

[00:52:52] But they're also like

[00:52:53] Relient to guns

[00:52:54] No I don't

[00:52:55] They're security guards

[00:52:56] At the

[00:52:57] So they're like constantly testing

[00:52:58] Like new bank defense systems

[00:53:00] And one is like a steel cage

[00:53:01] That comes down

[00:53:02] If the

[00:53:03] The alarm goes off

[00:53:04] Like a

[00:53:05] You know a jail

[00:53:06] So I remember that part yeah

[00:53:08] It's electric

[00:53:09] So I think Ernest runs into it

[00:53:10] And like develops his

[00:53:11] Electricution powers

[00:53:12] And then

[00:53:13] He becomes a witness

[00:53:16] Or he gets

[00:53:17] Jury duty

[00:53:18] And then there's like

[00:53:19] Some guy on trial

[00:53:20] And then he's friends with the

[00:53:22] Like the bad Ernest

[00:53:23] Yeah

[00:53:24] He tells him

[00:53:25] Hey

[00:53:26] You're starting to refresh my memory on this

[00:53:27] So Ernest gets

[00:53:28] Mistake like knocked out

[00:53:29] Like there's a field trip to the jail

[00:53:31] For the jury at one point

[00:53:33] And he gets knocked out

[00:53:34] And they switch places

[00:53:35] And then yeah

[00:53:37] While he's in jail

[00:53:38] He just kind of like

[00:53:39] Has to deal with all

[00:53:40] Like the

[00:53:41] The bad Ernest buddies

[00:53:42] And like one of them

[00:53:43] Eventually becomes his friend

[00:53:45] Geez man yeah

[00:53:46] And then he like escapes

[00:53:48] And then goes back to the bank

[00:53:49] And obviously like

[00:53:50] It's great for the bad Ernest

[00:53:51] Because he gets a job at a bank

[00:53:53] So he's going to try and route the bank

[00:53:54] And then

[00:53:55] Yeah there's this green screen of like

[00:53:57] After Ernest loses his magnet powers

[00:53:59] He like has anti-gravity powers

[00:54:00] So he's kind of like

[00:54:01] Bouncing over the walls

[00:54:02] And it's like

[00:54:03] Really cool the green screen

[00:54:04] Geez man

[00:54:05] You know the one I watched the most when I was a kid

[00:54:07] Was Ernest scared stupid

[00:54:08] Yeah that's fun too

[00:54:09] I have that one

[00:54:10] I might watch that again soon

[00:54:11] But the interesting thing was

[00:54:13] I

[00:54:14] After like while I was watching

[00:54:15] I was like wikipediaing

[00:54:16] Like how did Ernest

[00:54:18] Become a character and stuff

[00:54:19] Yeah

[00:54:20] Um

[00:54:21] Cause he's got a bunch of other movies

[00:54:23] Like half of them are straight to DVD

[00:54:25] But like it was a big thing

[00:54:27] And he like TV specials and stuff

[00:54:28] And it was just that

[00:54:29] This advertising agency

[00:54:30] In like Tennessee I think

[00:54:31] Or Kentucky

[00:54:32] Came up with this character Ernest

[00:54:34] And he like sold

[00:54:36] He wasn't just like

[00:54:37] A mascot for like

[00:54:38] A single product

[00:54:39] Like he did Coca-Cola ads

[00:54:40] Really

[00:54:41] He did

[00:54:42] It was all Jim Varney

[00:54:43] All Jim Varney

[00:54:44] And they were always like

[00:54:46] He was always talking to the camera

[00:54:47] In each of that

[00:54:48] So like

[00:54:49] All these different like

[00:54:50] Famous product brands

[00:54:51] All had this same ad

[00:54:52] Where this character Ernest

[00:54:53] Was talking to Vern

[00:54:54] Talking

[00:54:55] Pitching the

[00:54:56] Like selling the product and stuff

[00:54:58] And I was like

[00:54:59] Wow

[00:55:00] Like what a

[00:55:01] Amazing

[00:55:02] And then

[00:55:03] The director is John Cherry

[00:55:04] I think he owned part

[00:55:05] Of the advertising agency

[00:55:06] So like

[00:55:07] Like he went on to make

[00:55:08] Movies and stuff

[00:55:09] Well that's cool

[00:55:10] Yeah it was

[00:55:11] That's like someone

[00:55:12] Who made it themselves

[00:55:13] You know just

[00:55:14] Through hard work

[00:55:15] Just this

[00:55:16] Like

[00:55:17] It's so weird to think like

[00:55:18] A character could

[00:55:19] From a

[00:55:22] From a product could be like

[00:55:24] Yeah

[00:55:25] Diversify that much

[00:55:26] Like in this day and age

[00:55:27] I don't think so

[00:55:28] No way

[00:55:29] Like you're not gonna see

[00:55:30] Ronald McDonald

[00:55:31] He's been around forever

[00:55:32] He's not gonna start doing

[00:55:33] Dead

[00:55:34] Sony ads or nothing

[00:55:36] So

[00:55:37] Yeah

[00:55:38] Just good for Jim Varney

[00:55:39] I guess

[00:55:40] He did some dramatic stuff

[00:55:41] Apparently

[00:55:42] But nothing terribly notable

[00:55:44] I don't know

[00:55:45] I got me interested

[00:55:46] I might watch

[00:55:47] Iron Scarred Stupid too

[00:55:48] I gotta find

[00:55:49] Saved Christmas

[00:55:50] I haven't seen Saved Christmas

[00:55:51] There's a bunch of DVD ones

[00:55:52] But

[00:55:54] They're pretty terrible

[00:55:55] I think I saw the

[00:55:57] Slam Dunk one

[00:55:58] Or the Africa one

[00:55:59] No army

[00:56:00] I think he went to the army

[00:56:01] I don't know

[00:56:02] Can't remember

[00:56:03] There's a lot of them

[00:56:04] The straight to DVD ones

[00:56:05] Are pretty ridiculous

[00:56:06] Yeah the theatrical ones

[00:56:07] I remember

[00:56:08] Like the Iron Scarred Stupid

[00:56:09] I loved when I was a kid

[00:56:10] Yeah I have stupid in camp

[00:56:11] And Saved Christmas

[00:56:12] I gotta find

[00:56:14] So

[00:56:15] I think the camp was the first one

[00:56:17] I think Christmas is the second one

[00:56:18] Jail's the third one

[00:56:19] And the scared stupid is the fourth one

[00:56:22] Those are obviously the best ones

[00:56:24] Yeah

[00:56:25] And that's it for me

[00:56:28] Right on

[00:56:29] So this is a part of the show

[00:56:30] Where we tell people

[00:56:31] About the movie we watched this week

[00:56:33] And if they should see it or not

[00:56:34] I always

[00:56:38] Oh my god is that super recording

[00:56:39] I was checking

[00:56:40] Yeah

[00:56:41] Alright so this week

[00:56:42] We went and saw Edge of Tomorrow

[00:56:43] Brad should people go see Edge of Tomorrow

[00:56:45] I did not have high expectations

[00:56:47] For this movie

[00:56:48] And it might be my favorite

[00:56:50] Movie of the summer so far

[00:56:51] Nice

[00:56:53] Yeah this movie was freakin' badass

[00:56:56] The trailer sold it really generically

[00:56:58] Yeah

[00:56:59] But as I started reading reviews

[00:57:00] And people were falling in love with it

[00:57:02] And what really started is

[00:57:03] Tom Cruise started doing

[00:57:04] He'd surprise people

[00:57:05] He'd go to screenings of it

[00:57:07] And just show up

[00:57:09] And so yeah

[00:57:10] This movie is really awesome

[00:57:12] And really clever

[00:57:14] Yeah

[00:57:15] Sorry go ahead

[00:57:16] Yeah I was gonna say more

[00:57:17] But we should probably save it

[00:57:18] For after the trailer

[00:57:19] Yeah let's roll the trailer

[00:57:20] That is generic

[00:57:22] I'm gonna tell you a story

[00:57:27] At first

[00:57:28] It's gonna sound ridiculous

[00:57:30] But the longer I talk

[00:57:31] We have to find the keys

[00:57:32] The more rational it's going to appear

[00:57:34] I can't believe you found coffee

[00:57:36] You sure?

[00:57:37] Yeah

[00:57:38] Hold on

[00:57:39] Three

[00:57:41] How many times have we been here?

[00:57:45] How many times?

[00:57:47] For me

[00:57:48] It's been an eternity

[00:58:04] The invasion will fail

[00:58:07] We lose everything

[00:58:13] I die within five minutes

[00:58:17] Of landing on that beach

[00:58:19] Along with every other soldier

[00:58:22] Get down!

[00:58:24] How did you do that?

[00:58:28] Come on

[00:58:30] Come find me when you wake up

[00:58:38] You do know what's happening to me

[00:58:46] What happened to you happened to me

[00:58:48] You hijacked their power

[00:58:49] How do I control it?

[00:58:50] You have to die

[00:58:52] Every day

[00:58:53] Keep coming here

[00:58:54] And I'll train you

[00:58:57] Again

[00:58:58] Again

[00:58:59] Again

[00:59:00] Your legs broken

[00:59:01] No, I'm good

[00:59:02] Then you better start over

[00:59:04] Oh, come on

[00:59:08] I'm not a soldier

[00:59:10] Of course you're not

[00:59:12] You're a weapon

[00:59:14] They want to conquer the rest of the world

[00:59:21] Unless you change the outcome

[00:59:23] We are not equipped for what's out there

[00:59:27] How many times have we been here?

[00:59:33] What are you not telling me?

[00:59:40] It's gonna be dark in a few hours

[00:59:42] We'll curl up by the fire and open a bottle of wine

[00:59:44] We should just reset

[00:59:45] Whoa!

[00:59:49] So the premise of this movie is

[00:59:51] And they don't really let you in on it

[00:59:52] Till maybe 40 minutes into the movie

[00:59:54] About how he's able to go back in time and stuff

[00:59:56] Well, you know what the premise is if you saw the truth

[00:59:58] Well, yeah, but I mean how he has the power

[01:00:01] To constantly relive the same day over and over again

[01:00:04] But in it

[01:00:05] Which is really interesting too because

[01:00:07] This is why Tom Cruise is maybe the

[01:00:09] Best actor right now

[01:00:11] Action star

[01:00:12] Is because he actually plays against his type in this

[01:00:14] You know, when you see the trailers

[01:00:16] You think oh, he just doesn't know

[01:00:17] He just needs to learn to be a better soldier

[01:00:19] He's not even a soldier in this

[01:00:20] He's actually some pussy figurehead for

[01:00:26] A coward

[01:00:27] A coward but what's his job title?

[01:00:29] He's basically a figurehead

[01:00:31] Who just tells people the war is going good

[01:00:33] He's like an earnest

[01:00:34] Like he's the marketing device

[01:00:35] Yeah, he's a marketing guy

[01:00:36] The fight

[01:00:37] And he's given some ceremonial major title

[01:00:42] By the United States Army

[01:00:44] He's a recruitment device

[01:00:46] Yeah

[01:00:47] He's supposed to just say like, you know

[01:00:48] We gotta say mankind and like

[01:00:50] He's like the Gary Senees of our real army commercials

[01:00:53] He does a voice over swarm

[01:00:55] But yeah, so he just goes up in it

[01:00:58] The British aren't impressed

[01:01:00] And they say yeah, you're gonna fight

[01:01:02] In this and they

[01:01:03] What she thinks against the law

[01:01:04] But I guess

[01:01:06] Well, he talked to a U.S. army guy

[01:01:08] And the army guy said it was okay

[01:01:10] So he gets knocked out

[01:01:11] He wakes up at Heathrow Airport

[01:01:13] Where they're staging this invasion of France

[01:01:15] Which is kind of his

[01:01:16] It's basically like a sci-fi

[01:01:18] Saving Private Ryan

[01:01:20] And it came out the day after D-Day

[01:01:22] Which is

[01:01:23] Yeah, it's kind of weird

[01:01:24] Was that intentional?

[01:01:25] I don't know

[01:01:26] You see a lot of storming the beach in this movie

[01:01:28] Yeah, it is

[01:01:30] Because you know one of the things

[01:01:31] That was scary about this movie

[01:01:32] Is because I mean the tagline is

[01:01:34] Live, die, repeat

[01:01:36] And you're basically repeating the same thing

[01:01:37] Over and over again

[01:01:38] How do you make it interesting?

[01:01:40] And amazingly they do

[01:01:42] And they repeat a lot

[01:01:43] Like Groundhog Day

[01:01:45] Yeah, couple times

[01:01:47] But this one is like

[01:01:48] In such a fast pace

[01:01:49] Like it was really like

[01:01:50] Trying to put myself in the mindset of an editor

[01:01:53] Like it's gotta be just

[01:01:55] Draining to try to

[01:01:57] Edit the way they did

[01:01:58] Like going back to the same stuff so many times

[01:02:01] And still making it interesting and different

[01:02:03] And what's really cool is you see Tom Cruise die in it

[01:02:07] For someone to be that big of a star

[01:02:09] I mean this is a risky movie

[01:02:11] Because one it's

[01:02:13] I mean the Atzan is Will House of Action Sci-Fi

[01:02:15] We just have a good track record of Action Sci-Fi

[01:02:17] Yeah, exactly

[01:02:18] Besides Minority Report

[01:02:20] And War of the Worlds

[01:02:22] But this one

[01:02:23] You really don't even like at the beginning

[01:02:25] Like fuck this guy

[01:02:27] All these people are laying down their lines

[01:02:28] And he's just out there saying

[01:02:29] Oh we're gonna win this war

[01:02:30] And you find out that

[01:02:31] These creatures which are really cool

[01:02:33] Like I forget the mimics

[01:02:36] You know they're

[01:02:38] They know that they're coming

[01:02:40] And I was actually shocked at the beginning

[01:02:42] When Emily Blunt dies immediately

[01:02:44] You're like what the fuck is happening

[01:02:46] And then Tom Cruise dies really violently

[01:02:49] And then it turns out that

[01:02:51] Because he killed an alpha

[01:02:54] This huge mimic

[01:02:55] He kind of resets the day

[01:02:58] Because those guys aren't supposed to die

[01:02:59] Or something like that

[01:03:00] Yeah I'm still a little unclear on how the time

[01:03:03] I think I'm gonna have to watch it again

[01:03:05] But just know that he killed this one creature

[01:03:08] And because he did it

[01:03:10] Because it's blood gone on him

[01:03:11] Yeah, the other, the main villain in it

[01:03:14] That you really don't see

[01:03:16] Has to manipulate the time

[01:03:17] Because these monsters aren't supposed to die

[01:03:19] And so

[01:03:22] They go he keeps on reliving this

[01:03:24] Over and over and over again

[01:03:25] And you know

[01:03:27] What the movie did well too

[01:03:28] Is they would advance the story along

[01:03:30] But they wouldn't show you how he got there

[01:03:32] How he got to the next part of it

[01:03:34] And he says I don't know

[01:03:35] I haven't got this far yet

[01:03:37] And then he has to

[01:03:38] And after only seeing it like

[01:03:39] Repeat 20 times

[01:03:41] You soon find out that

[01:03:42] He's actually gone ahead like 300 times

[01:03:44] Exactly, and I could imagine doing that

[01:03:46] And what's really cool is

[01:03:48] They play up

[01:03:50] Emily Blunt being a romantic

[01:03:52] Interest for him

[01:03:53] That only he knows about

[01:03:55] Because he's re-introducing himself to her

[01:03:57] Every day

[01:03:58] And what's really, Tom Cruise is such a great actor

[01:04:01] Is he knows she's gonna die

[01:04:03] And every time she dies

[01:04:05] As the movie goes along

[01:04:06] It eats at him

[01:04:07] It kills him a little bit more

[01:04:09] And you find out that her character

[01:04:11] Went through the same thing

[01:04:12] With like her husband

[01:04:13] Or boyfriend or whoever

[01:04:14] You know

[01:04:15] She said I had to see him die

[01:04:16] 300 times

[01:04:17] 300 times I had to see this guy die

[01:04:19] And you know when they get to that farmhouse

[01:04:22] And he's trying to talk her out

[01:04:24] Of taking up this helicopter

[01:04:26] And you don't understand why

[01:04:28] And then he finally says

[01:04:29] You know I've been here before

[01:04:30] And every time you do it

[01:04:31] You don't make it

[01:04:32] Every time we do this

[01:04:33] You don't make it

[01:04:34] And he's trying to change the future

[01:04:36] Because he's grown fond of her character

[01:04:38] And she's really cool in it

[01:04:39] Every time she's on screen

[01:04:40] I get a little tingle in my wiener

[01:04:42] I know every time she

[01:04:44] Like did that push up

[01:04:45] And then like arched her back

[01:04:47] Like they repeated that thing

[01:04:48] A couple times like

[01:04:50] They're really showing her off

[01:04:52] They are

[01:04:53] But you know it's true

[01:04:54] But in it she plays

[01:04:55] She's a Russian lady

[01:04:56] And you know what's cool is

[01:04:57] They don't make it sap your romantic

[01:04:59] Though because what's

[01:05:00] Again I said she doesn't know

[01:05:02] So she doesn't play it late

[01:05:03] Oh I've fallen in love

[01:05:04] With the dreamy Tom Cruise

[01:05:06] No every time he sees her

[01:05:08] He has to convince her again

[01:05:10] That hey I've been sent here

[01:05:12] Blah blah blah blah blah

[01:05:13] He told me to come find you

[01:05:14] Yeah told me to come find you

[01:05:16] And I mean she's

[01:05:17] Deisen some pretty horrific ways

[01:05:19] It's a really cool movie

[01:05:23] Yeah I can't even

[01:05:24] I'm trying to think of what

[01:05:25] I really didn't like about it

[01:05:26] The ending was a little murky for me

[01:05:28] The only thing I can

[01:05:29] Big spoilers

[01:05:30] The only thing I can think of

[01:05:31] Is that when they get there

[01:05:33] And that alpha monster

[01:05:35] Kills her somehow she gets

[01:05:36] Blood on him

[01:05:37] And so then when Tom Cruise

[01:05:39] I don't know you explain

[01:05:40] The ending to me

[01:05:41] You mean like when he blows

[01:05:42] Up the Omega

[01:05:43] Yeah obviously the blood

[01:05:44] Gets on him but why did

[01:05:45] He go so far back

[01:05:46] And the Omega was dead

[01:05:47] Yeah I don't know

[01:05:49] Like why

[01:05:51] Like because he

[01:05:53] I guess well the Omega

[01:05:55] Blood got on him so obviously

[01:05:57] He gets like another chance to

[01:05:59] Time travel again

[01:06:01] But it should go back before

[01:06:03] They killed the Omega so

[01:06:04] But I guess but is it broken

[01:06:06] Because he killed the Omega

[01:06:07] And the blood got on him

[01:06:08] So he's able to go back

[01:06:10] I guess he gets one more

[01:06:11] Shot or something

[01:06:12] Yeah I guess the Omega

[01:06:13] Is already dead so

[01:06:14] But the blood got on him

[01:06:15] So it actually worked

[01:06:17] For him to go back

[01:06:18] And why does it let

[01:06:19] Him go back to that point

[01:06:20] Yeah I don't know

[01:06:21] Yeah but I mean it's too cool

[01:06:23] To really think about it

[01:06:24] Yeah when you watch the movie

[01:06:25] I mean but the movie is

[01:06:26] Really I mean it's really well done

[01:06:29] And what did you really like

[01:06:30] About the movie brand?

[01:06:32] I think maybe 20 minutes in

[01:06:34] Or something I would like

[01:06:35] I was just thinking about like

[01:06:37] How

[01:06:40] I expected the dialogue

[01:06:41] For one of these movies to be

[01:06:43] And it never achieved that

[01:06:44] Like there was never like

[01:06:45] Some cliche bullshit

[01:06:47] Of like you know

[01:06:49] Action movies have

[01:06:50] Where you know they have this goal

[01:06:52] And they say like

[01:06:54] The typical things

[01:06:55] I don't have a specific example

[01:06:56] But it's just like

[01:06:58] It felt like the movie

[01:07:00] Had its own language you know

[01:07:02] Yeah well you know you're right

[01:07:03] Because you know Tom Cruise's

[01:07:04] Character never had those funny

[01:07:06] One-liners you know

[01:07:08] But he was funny unintentionally

[01:07:10] The part where he's trying to

[01:07:12] Find Emily Blunt's character

[01:07:15] I forget her name

[01:07:16] It's Rita something

[01:07:17] Rita yeah

[01:07:20] So he's doing these push-ups

[01:07:21] And his plan is to

[01:07:23] Roll underneath this humvee

[01:07:26] To get away and the first time

[01:07:27] He does it he gets ran over

[01:07:29] And Bill Pax is like

[01:07:30] Why the hell did he do that

[01:07:35] And he makes us and he's like

[01:07:36] I don't know what noise was

[01:07:38] But it was pretty good

[01:07:41] It's weird they make some like

[01:07:43] Real comedy out of the violence

[01:07:44] In this movie like there's a

[01:07:45] Couple of other times where he dies

[01:07:46] Pretty hilariously

[01:07:47] Yeah

[01:07:48] But it's not hilarious really

[01:07:50] It's not but it's weird because

[01:07:52] Yeah

[01:07:53] I was letting him get like

[01:07:54] So they go to that general right

[01:07:55] And they convince him to give

[01:07:57] They convince him to give him

[01:07:59] This device that's going to allow

[01:08:00] Him to actually see where the

[01:08:01] Omega's are

[01:08:02] But then the like

[01:08:04] So the general has this thing

[01:08:05] About like how he's finally

[01:08:06] Convinced

[01:08:07] But then he still calls the cops

[01:08:08] On them

[01:08:09] Yeah I guess he doesn't really

[01:08:10] Believe them

[01:08:11] Like why even give him the device

[01:08:12] Then like and let them go

[01:08:14] And he's like just call them to the room

[01:08:15] I don't know

[01:08:16] Yeah it's interesting

[01:08:17] Weird motivation at that point

[01:08:18] But I guess because he had a gun on

[01:08:20] Him from Rita

[01:08:21] And something I think of

[01:08:24] And then the end

[01:08:25] Like there wasn't anything too

[01:08:29] Like creative about the end

[01:08:30] Like they kind of just go to

[01:08:31] The loo of and then

[01:08:34] You know fight a few things

[01:08:35] And get in so there wasn't

[01:08:36] Anything as inventive as the

[01:08:37] Earlier parts in the movie

[01:08:39] I guess but still it wasn't

[01:08:40] No here's a scene from the movie

[01:08:42] That could be cool or could not be cool

[01:08:43] I don't have it watched yet

[01:08:44] You'll have to

[01:08:45] I'll pick something

[01:08:46] Pick something

[01:08:47] I'm sure it'll be Tom Cruise acting awesome

[01:08:49] I'm trying to save you

[01:09:04] We're getting slaughtered

[01:09:05] You need to get us off this beach

[01:09:13] We have to go

[01:09:14] This drop ship is about to explode

[01:09:16] We have to go now

[01:09:18] Wait

[01:09:21] Come on

[01:09:26] Come on

[01:09:42] This ship is going to explode

[01:09:45] What are you doing?

[01:09:47] Find me when you wake up

[01:09:49] What?

[01:09:50] Come find me when you wake up

[01:09:53] On your feet maggots

[01:09:56] He's cool though

[01:09:57] I mean

[01:09:58] I think Tom Cruise might be the only

[01:10:00] Actor who can really play this part

[01:10:02] Because

[01:10:03] People always make fun of me

[01:10:04] Because I love Tom Cruise

[01:10:06] But I dare people to

[01:10:08] Really name a bad movie

[01:10:09] And he might make an okay movie

[01:10:11] But a bad movie

[01:10:13] And I believe everything he's in

[01:10:15] I really do

[01:10:16] And I mean in this

[01:10:17] I believe that he was a pussy at the beginning

[01:10:19] But having to relive

[01:10:21] And die 300 times

[01:10:23] It toughened him up

[01:10:24] And it

[01:10:25] He was a badass by the end

[01:10:27] What's cool too

[01:10:28] Is even Emily Blunt's character

[01:10:29] She didn't mess around

[01:10:31] She said you need to learn this

[01:10:32] And she would shoot him in the head

[01:10:33] Constantly

[01:10:35] It was pretty fascinating

[01:10:38] I like the part where

[01:10:40] Because the whole time

[01:10:41] He keeps going to her

[01:10:42] And devising a plan

[01:10:43] To go fight these alphas

[01:10:45] Or whatever

[01:10:47] And then after like

[01:10:49] 200th time

[01:10:51] It finally occurs to him

[01:10:52] To not go find her

[01:10:53] Yeah

[01:10:54] And just use what he already knows

[01:10:55] And do it himself

[01:10:56] Yeah

[01:10:57] Like that

[01:10:58] That was just a cool deviation

[01:10:59] Yeah

[01:11:00] Because again

[01:11:01] He starts doing these things

[01:11:03] To convince her not to go places

[01:11:05] To save her

[01:11:06] When all he had to really do

[01:11:07] Was to save her

[01:11:08] When all he had to really do

[01:11:09] Was just like not find her

[01:11:10] Yeah

[01:11:11] Because you know

[01:11:12] He realized through all his planning

[01:11:14] That maybe he was

[01:11:16] The reason why she was dying and stuff

[01:11:18] So it's really cool

[01:11:19] Yeah, you're right

[01:11:20] To go through

[01:11:21] And it's just a well done movie

[01:11:22] It's really cool

[01:11:24] I recommend it

[01:11:25] It's definitely one of my favorites

[01:11:26] Of the year so far

[01:11:29] I was reading something

[01:11:30] Where it's a little disappointing

[01:11:31] Like I don't know

[01:11:32] I haven't read

[01:11:33] The Fault in Our Stars

[01:11:34] Or I'm probably not going to see it

[01:11:35] But I'm sure it's a good movie

[01:11:36] But it's like

[01:11:38] This one's going to get

[01:11:39] Kind of second place

[01:11:40] For the weekend

[01:11:41] And then get all this press

[01:11:42] I'm like

[01:11:43] Oh, an underperform boo

[01:11:44] When people should see it

[01:11:45] It's awesome

[01:11:46] Yeah

[01:11:47] It's like a great summer tentpole movie

[01:11:49] It is

[01:11:50] And you know

[01:11:51] It's a cool sci-fi movie

[01:11:52] You know

[01:11:53] I always wait for them every year

[01:11:54] And usually one

[01:11:55] I mean I liked oblivion last year too

[01:11:57] But this one

[01:11:58] I think is more creative

[01:11:59] And a little more

[01:12:00] Yeah

[01:12:01] I love the production design

[01:12:02] Of oblivion

[01:12:03] But the whole story

[01:12:04] And execution of it

[01:12:05] Seemed really underwhelming to me

[01:12:07] And then Elysium was like

[01:12:09] High expectations

[01:12:10] Like a really cool sci-fi

[01:12:11] And then it was just like

[01:12:12] Oh, okay

[01:12:13] Well

[01:12:14] He's just getting from A to B

[01:12:15] And he's actually

[01:12:16] Kind of a shithead to begin with

[01:12:17] Yeah

[01:12:18] So that was underwhelming

[01:12:19] And this finally

[01:12:20] So I was kind of expecting that again

[01:12:21] But this was actually like

[01:12:22] Oh my god

[01:12:23] I think I could watch this more times

[01:12:24] Yeah

[01:12:25] I mean I really want to watch again

[01:12:26] I can't

[01:12:27] Actually I can't wait for the blue ray

[01:12:28] To rewatch it constantly

[01:12:29] Because I want to see if I miss some things

[01:12:31] And I want to understand

[01:12:32] Not the science

[01:12:33] But like

[01:12:34] The rules

[01:12:35] Yeah

[01:12:36] This whole time travel thing is working

[01:12:38] With their blood

[01:12:39] Yeah

[01:12:40] Yeah

[01:12:41] I think I might have missed a few

[01:12:42] Or I didn't pick up the lines fast enough

[01:12:44] In the movie

[01:12:45] Because that's part of their plan

[01:12:46] Is like

[01:12:47] They're convincing us

[01:12:48] That

[01:12:49] We can win

[01:12:50] By

[01:12:51] Allowing us to repeat days

[01:12:53] But I'm not sure what they're trying to

[01:12:56] Because they're world conquerors

[01:12:57] Yeah

[01:12:58] What are they trying

[01:13:00] Like

[01:13:01] I think it might be some of the appeal of it though

[01:13:03] Is I think you

[01:13:04] Don't really know their end game in it

[01:13:06] Yeah

[01:13:07] You don't want to reveal too much about the villains

[01:13:09] Because then they become like

[01:13:11] If you know too much about them

[01:13:12] They're not as scary

[01:13:13] Yeah

[01:13:14] So

[01:13:16] If you find out they're just looking for food

[01:13:18] And you're like

[01:13:19] Oh okay well they're just a dumb animal

[01:13:20] Yeah exactly

[01:13:21] Yeah there's no

[01:13:22] But you know they're not because there's that one

[01:13:23] Thing where they know they can't kill

[01:13:25] Tom Cruise's character

[01:13:26] Because he'll just

[01:13:27] Repeat the day

[01:13:28] Yeah

[01:13:29] And so they're trying to

[01:13:30] Bloodlet him

[01:13:31] Yeah

[01:13:32] And so they're trying to

[01:13:33] I don't know exactly what they were doing

[01:13:34] They weren't trying to kill him

[01:13:35] Well they tried to just like

[01:13:37] Non-lethally hurt him

[01:13:38] So they would lose the blood

[01:13:39] And that stops him traveling

[01:13:40] Yeah that's right

[01:13:41] The more he travels the more he learns

[01:13:42] And they find the weakness

[01:13:44] But it was really cool because

[01:13:46] You know you saw the alpha

[01:13:47] And that was a cool little twist too

[01:13:49] Because you're expecting to see

[01:13:50] The omega there

[01:13:52] Then you realize that they're manipulating him too

[01:13:54] It's pretty cool

[01:13:55] Yeah

[01:13:56] Movies well done

[01:13:57] I kind of suspected it wasn't going to be

[01:13:58] In the German dam

[01:14:01] But I was surprised when they were

[01:14:03] Actually stopped there

[01:14:05] Yeah

[01:14:06] Yeah

[01:14:08] So yeah it goes to Yajio tomorrow

[01:14:09] Had fun

[01:14:10] It was awesome

[01:14:11] Next week make sure you stop by

[01:14:13] And say hi to us at Denver Comic Con

[01:14:15] We'll be there

[01:14:16] We'll have our booth set up

[01:14:17] It'll be cool

[01:14:18] I'm not sure exactly what

[01:14:19] Brad has planned this year

[01:14:20] But we'll have something in the booth

[01:14:21] For people to watch

[01:14:22] I don't know are you doing the projector yet

[01:14:23] Do we know what we're doing

[01:14:24] I'll bring the projector

[01:14:25] I don't know if we're going to show

[01:14:27] Like

[01:14:29] The

[01:14:30] We'll figure it out

[01:14:31] Episode slideshow from last year

[01:14:33] Or if we're going to play the Blu-ray

[01:14:35] We'll figure it out

[01:14:36] We'll figure it out

[01:14:37] It'll be fun anyways

[01:14:38] We really want to talk to you

[01:14:39] So sit down and talk to us on the show

[01:14:40] We have lots of fun meeting people

[01:14:41] Make sure you go to room 403-404

[01:14:44] 402-403

[01:14:45] 403-404

[01:14:46] 403-404

[01:14:47] Saturday at 545

[01:14:49] We will have a presentation

[01:14:50] And give away

[01:14:51] 50 minutes

[01:14:52] 50 minutes

[01:14:53] A real nerd's about to

[01:14:54] At Denver Comic Con

[01:14:55] That's kind of surreal

[01:14:56] Actually I tell you the truth

[01:14:57] I hope people show up

[01:14:58] I hope people show up too

[01:14:59] Thanks for listening

[01:15:00] Next week we're seeing 22 Jump Street

[01:15:02] On top of Denver Comic Con

[01:15:04] Yeah, we're going to find time for that

[01:15:05] Did you hear about the Spider-Man screening

[01:15:07] At Mile High Stadium?

[01:15:08] No

[01:15:09] I kind of want to do that

[01:15:10] What is it? I don't even know

[01:15:12] Who is it?

[01:15:13] Some company...

[01:15:14] Oh, the Outlaws

[01:15:15] The Commodore Outlaws

[01:15:16] The lacrosse team

[01:15:17] They've invited

[01:15:19] Well, you have to buy tickets

[01:15:20] But you're invited to go down

[01:15:22] And watch the Amazing Spider-Man

[01:15:24] The first Amazing Spider-Man

[01:15:26] On the grass of sports authority

[01:15:28] Although I'm projecting it on the grass

[01:15:30] No, it's going to be on the HD monitor

[01:15:33] Oh cool

[01:15:34] But you get to sit on the grass

[01:15:35] Oh sweet

[01:15:36] I might have to do that

[01:15:37] Yeah

[01:15:38] What day is it?

[01:15:39] I think it's Friday or Saturday

[01:15:41] This week?

[01:15:43] It's after the con

[01:15:44] It's after the con

[01:15:45] Okay, I won't see it

[01:15:46] Maybe we're already down there

[01:15:47] Maybe we'll do it

[01:15:48] Get a picnic

[01:15:49] We'll have KFC or something

[01:15:50] Yeah, maybe cool

[01:15:51] KFC

[01:15:53] On a blanket

[01:15:54] On a blanket

[01:15:55] Thanks for listening

[01:15:57] See you at Denver Comic-Con 2014

[01:15:59] Exciting times
