How To Be More Intentional with Michelle Medrano
[00:00:00] I am a big fan of Dr. Wayne Dyer who has passed away and yet his work and his influence
[00:00:12] and his presence is still very powerful.
[00:00:15] It's in my life and many people's lives.
[00:00:18] And one of my favorite books that he wrote was The Power of Intention.
[00:00:22] If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.
[00:00:25] And one of the things that he really calls out is how we can live a more intentional
[00:00:32] life.
[00:00:33] We can just get in touch with the energy of intention.
[00:00:38] I happen to believe that every person who exists is here because of intention to be
[00:00:44] here, to be alive on this planet.
[00:00:46] I don't know what you believe.
[00:00:47] You may not think it's so intentional but it feels to me like each soul has something
[00:00:54] to give some way that they've come here to be and express themselves.
[00:01:00] And that if we get in the way of that for ourselves and for others, we get in the way of
[00:01:05] that intentional living, that spirit, God, life, some essence of us has intention for
[00:01:14] being.
[00:01:15] And that everything that we do, every endeavor that we stepped into has more power and has
[00:01:22] more grace and success to it when it's intentional.
[00:01:27] I have this little magnet that was created about things that have come out of my mouth at
[00:01:33] certain times when I've been speaking.
[00:01:36] And one of my favorites is if you think willy-nilly thoughts, you get a willy-nilly life.
[00:01:42] And I think that that's really true.
[00:01:45] That the more we can approach ourselves, our living, the things we want to be about with
[00:01:52] a sense of intentionality that might just be a word.
[00:01:56] One of the words that weaves itself through my life as an intention is love.
[00:02:02] And it always calls me back to center.
[00:02:06] Is what I'm about to do anchored in love?
[00:02:10] Is what I'm about to say anchored in love.
[00:02:13] And if it's not, then I get to rethink it.
[00:02:16] I get to step back away from it because it's a powerful intention for me to be a loving
[00:02:23] being and to treat every person, even people that I don't agree with or don't feel connected
[00:02:28] to or have completely different thoughts about life with love and respect.
[00:02:35] And so it's a powerful way to live.
[00:02:38] And when we know what our intentions are and we know the intentionality of our beingness,
[00:02:44] I think we feel happier and more complete.
[00:02:47] So the opposite of this might be some of the things that capture our attention.
[00:02:52] Wayne Dyer talks in his book a lot about the opposite of intentional living is egoic
[00:02:57] living where it's all about me, me, me.
[00:03:00] And thinking that our life and our intentions have all to do with the stuff of the universe,
[00:03:07] the stuff of materialism.
[00:03:09] Which in and of itself, none of that is bad.
[00:03:11] None of that is wrong.
[00:03:13] None of that is unsupportive of our life.
[00:03:15] However, if we think that all we're here to do is make money and have a house and have
[00:03:22] a car and have things and have nice jewelry and nice clothes, we might start to feel kind
[00:03:29] of empty and disconnected.
[00:03:32] When we surrender into the power of intention, we start to feel an aspect of our soulfulness
[00:03:39] return to us.
[00:03:41] If we're in our egoic living, we might think that who we are is what other people think
[00:03:46] of us, what people say about us, our reputation, our achievements, the things we've accomplished
[00:03:53] are not accomplished.
[00:03:55] And we might measure our success based on those things.
[00:03:59] And again, not all necessarily bad or wrong but just not a whole representation of the
[00:04:07] complete spectrum of who and what we are and what we can be.
[00:04:12] Intentional living then says for me, for example, did I live from love today?
[00:04:19] Was I loving and was I kind today?
[00:04:22] I didn't get everything done on my to-do list.
[00:04:25] But did I do what I did with love becomes the benchmark for success, intentional living?
[00:04:36] Dr. Dyer says and I want to read a quote, your mind and your thoughts are also thoughts
[00:04:41] of the divine mind.
[00:04:43] Universal spirit is in your thoughts and in your free will.
[00:04:45] When you shift your thoughts from spirit to ego, you seem to lose contact with the power
[00:04:51] of intention.
[00:04:52] Your free will can either move with universal spirit and it's unfolding or away from it
[00:04:59] toward ego dominance.
[00:05:01] As it moves away from spirit, life appears to be a struggle.
[00:05:06] I hate that part.
[00:05:08] Slow energies flow through you and you may feel hopeless, helpless and lost.
[00:05:15] I think this is a state that a lot of us find ourselves in.
[00:05:18] Maybe one of the symptoms is the egoic living that we get caught up in versus the intentional
[00:05:26] living.
[00:05:27] So, I'd like to invite us to consider a couple of things that honestly are from Dr. Dyer's
[00:05:34] work about how we can step into the power of intention a little more joyfully and easily.
[00:05:41] Some very simple things.
[00:05:43] He says, for example, one way to really recapture and feel the sense of intentional living
[00:05:52] is if we're feeling anxious or disconnected, overwhelmed, discombobulated throughout our
[00:06:00] day.
[00:06:02] To just stop and take a deep breath and literally say the word intention.
[00:06:07] Intention.
[00:06:09] Intention.
[00:06:11] He says it's a way to remind us number one that we are intentional beings, that life,
[00:06:18] God, source intended for us to be here, that were in co-creative energy with the divine
[00:06:25] and all that we're doing in being.
[00:06:28] And that a lot of the anxiety that we experience is because we forget this and we get totally
[00:06:33] caught up in the world of effect and not in the world of how all of it works together.
[00:06:40] And living plus the world of form creates the momentum for our living.
[00:06:47] So just stopping and just saying to ourselves intent, intent, intent.
[00:06:52] And to remind ourselves regularly with regards to our daily life, I have a mission.
[00:07:01] I have something I've come here to do and be.
[00:07:04] I have a way that I am intentionally living my life.
[00:07:08] But if we're not quite sure what it is yet, but to affirm it and to claim it and to own
[00:07:14] it and to get into the path of it can be very empowering and can also pull us into that
[00:07:23] balanced place where intention can begin to have its way with us.
[00:07:28] And what happens then is that if we are unsure about our purpose and intention for being
[00:07:35] or for doing what we're doing by affirming it and reminding ourselves, I know I have it.
[00:07:42] Guess what?
[00:07:43] It works.
[00:07:44] The law of attraction begins to work on our behalf and we may find ourselves suddenly filled
[00:07:49] with the wisdom of, oh, this is why I'm here.
[00:07:54] This is why I chose to come into this world or step in to help in this project.
[00:08:01] This is why I'm part of this family or this group of friends.
[00:08:05] There's an intention to it.
[00:08:07] It's not willy-nilly, it's not an accident.
[00:08:11] I belong here.
[00:08:13] Oh, that is a great feeling.
[00:08:15] So I encourage you and invite you to go forth in your life this week with just a little
[00:08:21] more sense of intention.
[00:08:23] These two simple activities, try them out.
[00:08:27] See if they help.
[00:08:28] When I use them, they remind me.
[00:08:31] Yeah, my intention is love.
[00:08:33] I got it.
[00:08:34] Feels good.
[00:08:35] Have a great week.
