The Interrogation Revisited - Batch 2 - Episode 3

Since Noah is currently being held captive, I thought this episode from Batch 2 was worth a re-listen.

Reminds us how Noah and Sara acted when they had a captive of their own.

In an identity crisis, Noah and Sara must decide how far they are willing to go to get the answers they need from the soldier they’re holding captive. For them to escape, intel is needed, but it comes at a cost, and are they willing to pay it.

[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I should say if this is somehow your first episode, I implore you to go back and start at the beginning.

[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_05]: These revisits are great for those who've listened before, but you could be missing out on important information.

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Right. So why did I choose this episode?

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, with Noah currently being a captive by a clone, I thought it prudent to remind ourselves what Sarah and Noah were like when they were captors themselves.

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Plus, highlights the challenges of getting these messages and organizing them for you.

[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Sometimes I genuinely don't know what order they take place, so without further ado, Episode 3 from Batch 2, Interrogation.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to do this anymore.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_00]: We can't stop.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_03]: But...

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: We're doing this.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_05]: I honestly can't tell you where that last piece falls and what follows.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_05]: No timestamps and even context clues don't help me to figure out where it fits.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I can't imagine Noah was ever okay with what follows, but I'm not convinced Sarah is either.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_05]: It's messed up.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_05]: I've never personally been in a situation where necessity outweighs my morals, but those situations have to exist, right?

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Like situational triage.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Triage is just addressing the degree of urgency to something, so maybe that's what Sarah is doing here.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_05]: That what's being done is necessary to get as many answers as possible.

[00:01:41] Still...

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_05]: As always, I can't promise that the messages are in the right order.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Only that this is the way they made the most sense to me.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_00]: You recording?

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, recording.

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: So let's start with an easy one.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_00]: What's your name?

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: That's not a name.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Go fuck yourself!

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: How's that for a name?

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, for starters, it's not a name.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: You know you're the bad guy, right?

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Looks a lot different from this side.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You were hunting us.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't hunting anyone.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, you were just there by accident. A friend of a friend brought you there.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_04]: What's the plan?

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_04]: You're the good guy, right?

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_04]: So what's the plan?

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_04]: You gonna kill me?

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Probably.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Probably?

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not seasoned at this.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_04]: What's that supposed to mean?

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It means I'm probably gonna go too far.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So once again for good measure, what is your name?

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Go fuck...

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Sarah.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Sarah.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Now, who is Sarah?

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I know it's not her first name, but it's her name to me.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_03]: The chivalrous idiot.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Shut up!

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_03]: What else do you not know about her?

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I said shut up!

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I know enough.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Both of you.

[00:02:53] What?

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Shhh, I'm thinking.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_04]: She's plotting.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Anything else to add?

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't think so.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_04]: She's gonna betray you.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I read her file-

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Ow!

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, we don't need to do this.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: We absolutely do.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: He's getting in your head.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't forget who he is, who he works for, what he's doing down here.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, let's just ask her.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Who are you?

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Down here?

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_03]: You're different on the surface?

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_03]: We all are.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_03]: So who are you down here?

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_04]: 7369J.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: A codename?

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_04]: A new name.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Who gave you the new name?

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Who gave you the name?

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Or what?

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_04]: What are you gonna do, Sarah?

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_04]: What about you, Noah?

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_04]: You a killer?

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Stop recording.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not a killer.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Stop recording.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Why?

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I need you to hold him down.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to do this anymore.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We can't stop.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: But...

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: We're doing this.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm worried.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Concerned.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_03]: As much as this place has changed us,

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want it to, you know,

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_03]: change us.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Where average citizens will likely never add to the crime statistics

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_03]: or end up in a hall of fame.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm okay with that.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_03]: God, what I wouldn't...

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It was scary but exciting before.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Creatures of myth, underground labs,

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_03]: an adventure with a pretty girl,

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's changed.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_03]: The fun has long since stopped.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Not you, Malaki.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_03]: You're unlikely positive to all of this.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Granted when we meet your parents again,

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure you'll be what gets me killed.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Then you know it too, don't you?

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I miss dogs.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Normal, non-reptile.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Dogs.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to be able to get back to them.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I want my life to have been on pause

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: and I want to get back, get comfortable

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_03]: and press play again.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And I can't do that if we torture some soldier to death.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I know it in my heart that I'll be changed.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I want answers as bad as Sarah, maybe even more.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_03]: This is the kind of thing I was certain existed in it.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And now I have proof who wouldn't want to know more.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_03]: But Sarah, there's...

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_03]: There's something different in her face.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: She hates him.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Something about the creatures has really moved her, like...

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_03]: an affinity or something.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Noah! Noah!

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Come here. Jesus.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Your hands, Sarah.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not my blood.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's not much better.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I've been thinking about what we're doing here.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So have I and I hate it.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, thank you.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: But I know how necessary it is.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: They have all the cards, Noah.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't even know what year it is,

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but with this soldier we can even the odds a bit.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Get that vital information that could very well save our lives.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't you want to know why they took us?

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_00]: How? When?

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Then what?

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to kill him.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to kill him, but I'll hurt him.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll have to hurt him. You understand that, right?

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: When we're back in there,

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to try my best to make him believe that I'm willing to kill him.

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And in order to do that, he has to think I'm capable.

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I get that.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Then what else is it?

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never done anything like this before.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Neither have I.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean any of this.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're in it now.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And in case you haven't noticed,

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: you've survived 100% of what's been thrown at you.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so far.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So far is as good as it gets on the surface too.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Coming?

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:07:09] BEEP

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Ugh.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I keep telling you, I don't know anything.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_04]: We go by our new names while here

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_04]: and we're not even allowed to talk about our previous lives.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Ugh!

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: You have to make me halfway.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I need something.

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You get that, right?

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: The only reason you're alive is because you know something.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Come on, man.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_03]: You said it yourself.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_03]: You read our files.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_03]: You know this isn't us.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: You also know that this was done to us

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_03]: and not the other way around.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_03]: We're victims here trying to make sense of it all.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, wait, wait!

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't hit me again.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Please.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Sarah.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm listening.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Why can't you tell us?

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_04]: What they'll do to me.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm threatening to beat you to death.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but just me.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_04]: They know my life.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_04]: My family.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_04]: My friends.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_04]: The things I love.

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_04]: If they think I've betrayed them.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Rock in a hard place.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I was as good as dead the moment you took me.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_04]: I can't head back because they'll think I talked

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_04]: and I'll be punished accordingly

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_04]: after they torture me to find out what I said.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Then why not help us?

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know enough to be of value.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_04]: You grabbed the wrong guy.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody knows something, has seen something.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're dead either way, why not tell us what your something is?

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_04]: You don't get it.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_04]: The collective is huge.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_04]: A truly global network.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_04]: They have their hands in everything.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_04]: They're so unstoppable.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_04]: They're now just inevitable.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_04]: They're beyond things like good and evil.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_04]: They're now just a force of nature.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Then help us bring them down.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Bring them down?

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Get us out.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll expose this facility to the world.

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So what?

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_04]: It's one facility.

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Just one.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_04]: What you're proposing is like trying to take down the government

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_04]: by destroying a singular city hall.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Can I get some water or something?

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh sure.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Coffee, tea?

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Want me to check the flavors of sparkling water we have?

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll get you water.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: You just keep talking.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_03]: If this collective is so bad, why work for them?

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Most of us are recruited.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: From where?

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_04]: You name it.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Army, Navy, mercenaries, colleges, even jails and mental institutions.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Even so, you had to say yes at some point.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sure you could say no.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_04]: They lay out their power to you.

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_04]: And so it isn't about choosing a team you hope will win.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_04]: It was about jumping onto the team that already had.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_04]: If they've truly won, I would have heard of them.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Why?

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Because you scour the internet?

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Have inside tipsters?

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_04]: History is written by the victors.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_04]: You know exactly as much as they want you to.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: What's happening?

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like everything just kicked back on.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Come on up.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_03]: There we go.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_00]: What's happening?

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what's happening.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Tell us.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: What?

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Sarah.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He knows what's happening.

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Sarah, let's chat over there.

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_00]: But he won't...

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Please.

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You're out of time.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to do this anymore.

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_00]: We can't stop.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_03]: But...

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: We're doing this.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_05]: What if the soldier really doesn't know that much information?

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_05]: It would be great to get answers on the why of it all,

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_05]: but I don't think this guy is equipped to tell us.

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a soldier.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_05]: He's not a guy in charge.

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Plus we heard his voice last episode.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: He was the one in the truck questioning their orders.

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_05]: He didn't even know about Palmer's team.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_05]: This guy is not going to be the wealth of information we needed him to be.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_05]: But that doesn't mean he isn't without purpose.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_05]: We've at least confirmed what we feared that if the collective is real,

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_05]: that they're already running the show.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm definitely not going back to the police, that's for sure.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you think they made a police report when I went to them?

[00:11:57] God, I hope not.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope they wrote me off and moved on.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't want my name on any paperwork associated with this.

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to end up in a tunnel as a test subject myself.

[00:12:08] But...

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Got me thinking.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_05]: We keep trying to figure out why Noah and Sarah were taken.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Makes sense, it's the common denominator between them,

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_05]: but if the collective really is everywhere and involved in everything,

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_05]: they both could have been chosen for different reasons.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe Noah really did dig too deep on the internet and see something he shouldn't have.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_05]: But Sarah?

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe she was a recruit gone wrong.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_05]: You heard them recruiting from jail?

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_05]: She's clearly been incarcerated at some point.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe her recruitment failed and they wiped her memory.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Assuming that's something they can do.

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_05]: It just feels all the more likely that they weren't chosen at random.

[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_05]: That these tunnels could be the gulag for the opposition of the collective.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to ask you nicely and I hope you respond in kind.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Failing that, Sarah will take her turn.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_03]: But we don't need to get to Sarah if you just answer the simple questions.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: How are we out of time?

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Sarah, now you ask me.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_02]: How are we out of time?

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: If you're really doing this, Noah, this is new for you.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_02]: How are we out of time?

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Wait, wait!

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Easy enough to beat on an unarmed handcuffed soldier.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Undo the cuffs, make it fair.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: You're unarmed because I took your gun away.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_00]: The handcuffs were yours too.

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So before you paint yourself as a victim who had no intention of catching us,

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_00]: ask yourself what the fuck you were planning to do with the gun and the handcuffs.

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_00]: We're not idiots.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Had me fooled.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh did we though?

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: By the sounds of it, we're causing your collective all kinds of trouble.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Something tells me that we've made it further than anyone before.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this time.

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Please, help yourself.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_03]: How are we out of time?

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_04]: You heard the machines.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't take a genius to figure out why all the machinery in a boiler room would kick on.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Someone's turning things on.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Turning it all on by the sounds of it.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Trying to get rid of all the dark corners you've been hiding in.

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Palmer.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Well,

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_00]: if we're almost out of time, so are you.

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You said it yourself.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_00]: When they find you alive, they'll know you've talked.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So we just leave him, let his own people sort him out.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't do that.

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the easiest option.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: We have to get a move on and we don't have time to dance for your answers.

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Fine, I'll talk.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_04]: But you'll set me free.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Give me the same chance as you guys to get out of here.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_04]: It's what's fair.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_00]: True.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Feels fair.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Deal.

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Then what?

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you know?

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Nothing.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I told you that.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like I've looked through the keyhole of a museum and you're asking me to discuss the exhibits.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't have that kind of information.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_04]: What did you see through the keyhole?

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Nothing.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I've seen what you've seen.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_04]: The Chupacabras, the creatures, the maize.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Beyond that, rumors mostly.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Chupacabra.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, the lizard dogs are Chupacabras.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_03]: They were supposed to have been debunked, which is why...

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: No, focus.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, what rumors?

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_04]: For starters, these tunnels go way lower than where we're at.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Barely the tip of the iceberg.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_00]: We saw that when we found the ventilation shaft.

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there's supposed to be a bunch of those.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_00]: What else?

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_04]: That's it.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a restricted area to the west a few floors up.

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_04]: It's where we were taking the creatures.

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a way to drive up?

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Far into the cavern there's a road system that will take you up about a dozen floors.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_04]: To the surface?

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_04]: God, no. I said twelve, not a hundred.

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_04]: To get out? Out?

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_04]: You need to get to like the elevator system.

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Like a mine shaft.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And where is the system?

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Can we get to it from twelve floors up?

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a complicated route, but technically...

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes?

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Perfect.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Noah, grab your pet and let's go.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Wait, I thought we...

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_04]: You're supposed to uncuck me!

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_04]: We had a deal.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_04]: We said it was fair.

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And it would be fair, but life's not fair, is it?

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: You might have jumped on the team that won, but you as an individual will lose.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_00]: No!

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Reprocussions.

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_04]: You can't do this.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I really can.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Then you leave me no choice.

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_03]: What is he doing?

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't...

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_03]: He pushed out one of his teeth with his tongue.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_03]: You... both.

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: He's foaming. What did he take?

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_03]: A suicide pill.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Cool.

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I've seen one of those.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's move. If he's dead then there's nothing left for us here.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's head to the end of the cavern, to this road system.

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_03]: You weren't really going to leave him.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Were you?

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Were you going to uncuff him?

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but now we no longer need to make that choice.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Sarah, we need to make it out of here as ourselves.

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to change so much that I can't go back to being me.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I get that, but...

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_03]: To whatever unauthorized yahoos to arm this frequency,

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_03]: we're back in the cavern.

[00:17:52] Run.

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_05]: So Palmer's back.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I know it's not the thing to take away from all of this,

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_05]: but the rest is just so much to unpack.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Was Sarah really going to leave him there?

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_05]: Was the information he provided even accurate?

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And I think I figured it out though.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Noah's concerned that he's going to change,

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, I guess morally from all of this

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and the reason he's concerned

[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_05]: is because he's still thinking they're going to make it out.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_05]: He's thinking about life after Denver when he's free,

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_05]: whereas Sarah on the other hand is I guess resolved

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_05]: in knowing that they might not make it out.

[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe she's motivated on getting answers, closure.

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully they both get what they want.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank you to Curious Cast for helping to get this podcast out

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'll be back in a couple of weeks

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_05]: for another episode of Escaping Denver.

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Every season of Survivor starts the same way.

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Build the challenges and we hide the advantages

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we turn it over to the players.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I am ready to forge my own path.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And no matter how many times we do it,

[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm still surprised.

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Survivor has evolved all these advantages,

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: all these whizzes.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_05]: It has to be victory or glorious death.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_01]: That's why we watch because every season of Survivor

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: is a new adventure.
